Female gryphons are polyestrus creatures, it means that they are in the fertile phase more than once in a year, usually 3-5 time per year. \nFig.1 Anestrus- female is in infertile phase of estrus cycle. Most females do not show interest in mating. Female genitals are in normal state.\nFig 2-Proestrus The estrus cycle comes into preparation for fertile phase. Female is not able to conceive yet, but tries to seduce males.Gryphoness is starting to produce pheromones - chemical signals, which purpose is to attract males . Vulva is becoming red and swollen\nFig3- Estrus. A fertile phase of cycle. In some females, the heat frenzy is so strong that regular life is becoming impossible. The arousal reaches its peak, and lordosis reflex is manifesting, by crouching low on forelegs and lifting up haunches. Perineum is significantly inflamed and vaginal opening is spreaded, showing interiors and glazed with thick mucus. Nipples are red and swollen, becoming visible amongst the fur. \nFig 4 Mating- Female allows to mate, by assuming mating position, and male crouches behind her. When penetration is achieved, he grabs her nape and spread wings to stabilise himself on top of his mate. The gryphon penis is surfaced by many tiny and sharp barbs. Scientist believes that they purpose is to stimulate the ovulation. Mating is carried on until the moment of orgasm, which is manifested by ejaculation in males, and forceful contraction of reproductive tracts of female. In contrast to ejaculation of semen, female orgasm is not necessary for conception. However, it is proved that rhythmical contractions of vagina and uterus that occur with female climax, help sperms to reach fallopian tubes, significantly increasing the chance of conception. Mating occurs many times per day and is continued until the end of heat, to ensure conception.\nFig. 5 After succesful fertilisation and implantation of zygotes, new lives start to develop inside future mother . Female is gaining her weight and becomes very moody. Her behaviour is directed by maternal insintct so she becomes overprotective about safety of her offspring.
