"writing": "Adjusting to Change\n\n\tZen had a hard time staying asleep. His thoughts would drift to dark places every time he fell asleep. Zen’s whole body would tremble each time he woke up. Chaotic would wake up every time Zen wake up. By the time the sun came up the two wolves were too tired to stay awake. They slipped into a deep sleep. Their sleep however would be short lived. It was now the third day. Zen was going back to the orphanage. An officer would be coming to pick Zen up soon. The neighborhood Chaotic lived in was extremely protective of everyone that lived in town. There was no need to lock the doors unless you really wanted to. Also most of the officers in town knew Chaotic very well. The officer that was coming to pick Zen up was closer than the others. She was a Husky Wolf mix. Her fur was a rust red. Her hair matched her fur save for a few blue highlights. Her tail was tipped in white along with a patch of white running between her breasts all the way down between her legs. Of course you wouldn’t see that when she was in uniform. Standing at 5 foot 7 this 31 year old officer had a figure to die for. Keeping in shape was one of her top priorities. This officer went by the name of officer Ruby Singer. \n\n\tLittle did the sleeping wolves know, but Officer Singer was standing at the foot of their bed. She stood there hands on her hips. With a sigh she turned to the window in the room opening the blinds. Sunlight beamed down on Chaotic’s face. Zen’s face however was half covered by the Chaotic and the blankets. Chaotic shielded his eyes from the blinding light. Blinking a few times he looked at the officer standing at the foot of his bed.\n\n\tGood morning Ruby. How’s it going? The officer crossed her harms with a scoff. Morning my ass. It’s the already afternoon. You were supposed to have the kid ready before noon. Chaotic sighed. I know, Zen had such a hard time sleeping. I doubt he slept for more than a half hour at a time till the sun came up anyway. Well wake his furry but up. He can sleep when he is back at the orphanage. Chaotic looked at Zen. Speaking softly and lightly nudging he tried to wake the sleeping pup. Hey Zen you gotta get up. It’s time to go.\n\n\tThe timing for the wakeup call could not have been worse. Zen was in the middle of a nightmare. His eyes shot open. He then screamed pushing his hands to Chaotic trusting himself off the bed. Once on the floor Zen scooted his back to a corner. His eyes glazed over with fear and terror. Ruby started walking towards the frightened pup. Seeing someone he didn’t know coming closer Zen curled up and started yelling. No more, I won’t let you near me. I won’t be hurt again, I WON’T. Zen’s body stated glowing and sparks of electricity covered his body.\n\n\tChaotic saw this and quickly got between Ruby and Zen. Give him some space, I think he’s still asleep. Ruby looked Chaotic in the eyes. What the hell is going on here? Why is that kid lighting up like a damn lightning bug. Have you been teaching him magic for the last 3 days? Chaotic sighed. No he already knew magic. He is not in control right now. Whatever he was dreaming about when I tried to wake him was bad enough to make him go berserk. The file said he has no memory of his past. What the hell happened? Chaotic shrugged. He got his memories back, and most of them are horrible memories. \n\n\tChaotic turned his attention to the cub in the corner. He knelt down and put on his best smile despite his worry. It’s okay Zen, no one is going to hurt you. You haven’t met her yet but this is Ruby Singer. She is a really good friend of mine. She is here to make sure you are okay and to bring you back to the orphanage until everything is finished and you can live here with me. The electricity covering Zen’s body faded and Zen half way uncurled from his little ball. Although the look of fear was still on his face he seemed to have calmed down a little. Chaotic extended a hand to Zen. Let’s get you ready to go okay? Zen however had other ideas. He sprung from the corner slamming into Chaotic’s chest. Rapping his arms around Chaotic Zen started crying. Between sobs he managed to talk. Why… do… I… have to… go… back there?\n\n\tHugging Zen tight Chaotic tried to calm the crying pup. Come on Zen there is no need for tears. I am not going anywhere. There is just some things that need to be cleared up before you can move in. Zen looked up at Chaotic. What kind of things? Looking back at Ruby, Chaotic shrugged. Ruby nodded and walked up beside the hugging wolves. She knelt down and began explaining. We have to make sure there aren’t any family members looking for you. They would technically be the ones you belong with. Zen shook his head. You won’t find anyone. They were all killed when I was taken. Both Chaotic and Ruby looked shocked. How could you know that? You were so little when you were abducted. Zen shuttered. That doesn’t change the fact that I was there when it happened. \n\n\tZen’s expression changed to anger. Fine if I have to go back then take me. If I don’t like it there I will just walk back here. With that said Zen stormed out of the room. He went to his room to change clothes. Ruby looked at Chaotic. She then started grinning. Looks like you will have your hands full with him. Chaotic chuckled. Ya, he may have some problems we will need to work out. There is a lot he has been through that no one should have to go through. Ruby raised an eyebrow. He opened up to you that much in 2 days? Chaotic scratched the back of his head. It’s hard to explain. I know this is one job I that may be more than I can handle alone. Looking Ruby in the eyes Chaotic grinned. How do you feel about kids? Ruby laughed. Oh you’re going to ask the first girl you see to help you raise a kid you barely know? We haven’t even dated yet. I know we have known each other for 2 years now but we are not that close. Not yet anyway Chaotic chuckled. How about it then? Wanna start dating?\n\n\tRuby’s eyes went wide. You’re serious aren’t you? Chaotic nodded. You should know by now I make choices at the drop of a hat. Closing the distance between the two, Ruby grinned. Ya I remember many times you made some hasty decisions. Alright you’re on. Turning and exiting the room she grinned over her shoulder. Just remember if you get outa hand on our date I will lock your ass up. \n\n\tZen was done changing and walking down the hall back to Chaotic’s room. He nearly ran into Ruby as she exited the room. Startled, Ruby knelt down. You ready to go kiddo? Zen quickly glared at her before turning his head away. Let’s just get this over with. Ruby chuckled and ruffled Zen’s hair. Atta boy, lets hit the road. Exiting the house Zen walked over to the police cruiser. He then opened the back door and hopped inside. Ruby quickly got into the driver’s seat. Turning to Zen she smiled. Don’t worry I’m sure you will be back here before school starts. With that said she started the cruiser and headed across town to the orphanage. \n\n\tBack at the orphanage Veronica and the children were waiting on the front lawn. Most of the kids had worried looks on their faces. Once Zen was let out of the car Veronica rushed over to him. She started looking him over head to toe. You aren’t hurt anywhere are you? Zen looked Veronica in the eyes. Why would you care? You don’t even know me. Veronica was shocked by the cubs change in character. I care about every child that comes to my door. Zen just laughed. Is that so? Why is it that the others here were allowed to come in while I was sleeping and remove my clothes? Ruby gasped looking at the 6 cubs standing on the lawn. Is that true? All the cubs could do is look at the ground. Zen looked at Ruby. You really think that’s the worst thing that has happened to me? Sure it’s the first time another person my age has done something like that. But really they were just looking. Now that I have my memories back I don’t really care anymore. \n\n\tZen started walking toward the entrance to the orphanage. He put his hands on the back of his head and looked back at everyone still on the lawn. There are few people that I trust in this world. The only one in this town is Chaotic. Well I guess there are 2 in this town but one of them you will never see in the same room as me. With that said Zen walked into the building and went to his room. Everyone on the lawn just stood there for a moment. They didn’t know how to react to what had just happened. Ruby looked at Veronica. I think I should go have a talk with Chaotic. I think he might know something about Zen’s past. With that said Ruby left and Veronica took the kids back into the building. \n\n\tOnce inside the cubs went about doing their normal routines. It was lunch time so Veronica went to the kitchen to prepare meals for everyone. While the others were busy James decided that he wanted to apologize to Zen. James went to Zen’s room and knocked on the door. When there was no answer James opened the door and peaked his head in. On the bed Zen lay staring at the ceiling. James had his ears back as he spoke. I’m really sorry about what happened the other day. Zen looked at the husky peaking in the door. You can come in if you want. There is a lot on my mind right now. James smiles perking his ears up. Kay, did you wanna talk about it? \n\n\tZen shook his head. It’s not really something that anyone here should listen to. My past… let’s just say not many people could relate to it. James nodded. I have been here since I was really little. I don’t know who I could relate to other than the others that live here. Zen sighed scratching his ears. It’s like a bad dream. Only problem is I know it happened. There is so much on my mind… I don’t know that I will be able to sleep. Zen sat up and turned toward James. If you are ever sent to wake me up… please don’t stand too close. If I am having a bad dream… I might wake up swinging. \n\n\tJames nodded. Alright I will try to remember that. He then fidgeted a little. I wanna ask you stuff but I am scared that you will get mad. Zen laughed. Only way to know would be to ask. If you are wondering about what I am though. I bet you are wondering if I am a boy or a girl right. James nodded. Well would you believe that I am both? James eyes went wide. Really? That’s awesome. Does that mean you can be a mom or a dad when you grow up? Zen laughed. I think so. I don’t know a lot about that stuff though. James shrugged. Ya me nether. Both cubs laughed loud enough to catch the attention of the other cubs.\n\n\tSoon all the others were peeking into Zen’s room. Zen looked their way. Come on in. You guys will hear a lot better from inside the room. This shocked the cubs. They all walked into the room. Emily was the first to ask. So you’re not mad at us? Zen shrugged. I was more scared of your reaction than mad. I had so few memories. I guess I panicked when I saw all you guys looking at me like that. And to answer the question that I think is on all your minds. I have both boy and girl parts. If you don’t like that well the door is right over there. Don’t let it hit you on the way out.\n\n\tAdam grinned. Did you get teased a lot about that? Zen shrugged. Not really. The guys that took me liked hurting me though. I don’t know if that would count as teasing. The others almost spoke out at the same time. What do you mean they liked hurting you? Zen sighed. It’s really not something I wanna talk about. I will just say this. From the age of 1 till about 12 days ago my life sucked. Zen stood up off the bed. The others asked him where he was going. Lunch is ready. I figured I would head out there. Before they could question how Zen could know that lunch was ready, Veronica popped her head in to doorway. Alright everyone time for lunch. \n\n\tEveryone shrugged and followed Veronica to the dining hall. What was waiting for them on the table was ham and cheese sandwiches, mixed fruit, and milk. Zen sat away from the others again. Despite opening up to them a little he still felt like an outsider. He quickly ate the food he was given. Once finished he took his dishes to the kitchen. Thanking Veronica for the food, Zen returned to his room. The others took their time eating. Once they were done and had thanked Veronica for the food they all went to check and see what Zen was up to. Zen however had fallen asleep.\n\n. . . \n\n\tMeanwhile at Chaotic’s house. Ruby was getting frustrated. What do you mean you can’t talk about what happened to Zen. This is important. If you know something you need to tell me. Chaotic looked at Ruby across the table and sighed. You know there are things in the field of magic that I cannot talk about with “novice mages”. I can tell you that Zen’s past ties into crimes dealing with dark magic. Zen was the victim in those crimes. Shaking her head. So there is nothing you can tell me that I can use. Chaotic scratched his chin. Well does it help that he was abducted at the age of 1. That makes the abduction about 4 years ago since Zen is 5 now. Ruby wrote in a small notepad. Well that’s a start at least. \n\n\tChaotic stood from his chair. Would you like some more coffee? Ruby nodded, yes please. Taking her cup Chaotic started toward the kitchen. While he got the coffee Ruby continued her questions. I know you said there is not a whole lot you can tell me but… How the hell did that kid cover himself in electricity? In all the books I have read that you own, there is no magic like that listed. Chaotic returned to the dining room with Ruby’s coffee setting it down in front of her. He took is seat before he began his explanation. I suppose there is no harm talking about that. Zen’s body is unaffected by energy. One of the nights he was here I wanted to test what he could do. I had him try some elemental magic. \nSpecifically fire magic. Now what was shocking was that he could indeed cast elemental magic with ease. He however didn’t cast it on the object he wanted to use it on. The spell was cast on his own hand. Ruby’s eyes went wide. Didn’t that burn him badly? Chaotic shook his head. Zen told me that it felt good. Just yesterday he told me that heat does not affect him. He knows when it’s hot but it doesn’t bug him. Ruby scratched her chin for a moment. So the little squirt cast lightning magic on himself? But he didn’t use an activation word. She scratched the back of her head. That doesn’t make sense. Chaotic nodded. Normally you have to use an activation word. Zen however can cast just by thinking about what he wants. He didn’t want you to touch him so he made himself “untouchable”. I’m just glad he didn’t cover himself in fire.\n\n\tSatisfied for now Ruby finished her coffee and stood to leave. Thanks for the coffee and info fire butt. Give me a call when you decide on when and where our date will be. Chaotic stood. Not a problem. I will try and find a day that works with your schedule. Oh and by the way everyone still on for class tonight? Ruby scratched her chin. I don’t think anyone has canceled. Those sensory magic classes have really helped the boys at the station stay ahead of the delinquent teens around town. Chaotic laughed. I’m glad it helped. See you later tonight. With that said Ruby turned and left. Chaotic went about his daily routine and prepared his practical magic class later tonight. \n\n. . .\n\n\tBack at the orphanage. Zen had woken up and was now looking out the window. He watched the others laughing and playing outside. Without warning Black started talking. Why don’t you go out and play? Looks like they are enjoying themselves. Zen sighed. He spoke in his thoughts so he didn’t look crazy talking to himself. I’m not really in the mood. Besides I have never really played with others. Remember I never got to do anything but get cut up or have things shoved inside me… Black chuckled. Well you will never learn how to play with others if you never go out and do it right. Alright, I just hope I don’t hurt them. I don’t think they are as strong as I am.\n\n\tWith that said Zen made his way to the yard where the other children were playing with a soccer ball. Once outside he approached the others. Noticing Zen’s approach the others stopped playing for a moment. James waved to Zen. The husky had a big grin on his face. Hey did you have a nice nap? Come on let’s play. We are just passing the ball around. Zen shrugged. I slept okay. Sure I will give it a shot. With that said Tim passed the ball to Zen. Zen tried to control his leg but wound up sending the ball flying across the lawn toward the woods. The others were shocked. Zen’s ears were back. Sorry, I have never done this before. I’ll go get it. With that said Zen started running after the ball. With how fast Zen was he quickly caught up to the ball stopping it before it hit the woods. Emily shouted from across the yard. How did you run like that? Zen gave a shrug. He then tried to kick the ball as lightly as he could. It still went quite a way but it at least it wouldn’t be sent into the woods. Zen made his way back to the others before he passed the ball to Abby. The yellow cat had a hard time stopping the ball from getting past her. She laughed. Still a little too much oomph. But I think you’re getting it.\n\n\tThe cubs got into a rhythm of passing in kind of a star pattern. Everyone got past to. Zen tried to make sure he past to the oldest cubs. He feared that the others would not be able to stop the ball if he passed to them. After a good hour and a half of playing the cubs were starting to get tired. Zen however didn’t feel tired at all. Since the others were done playing Zen decided to go for a little run. He knew he needed to burn off some energy if he was going to be able to sleep that night. As for where he ran, he decided that the best place would be to run around the building. He ran the edge of the property as fast as he could.\n\n\tVeronica looked out the window to see Zen running. She was shocked at how fast the little wolf could move. Also he showed no signs of slowing down. Lap after lap was made around the building. Zen wasn’t even panting. Veronica turned her attention back to preparing dinner. She was making a meat and potato dish. When she turned her attention back to the window she saw that Zen was still running. By this time though Zen had an audience. The others were sitting in the grass cheering him on. One or 2 of them were panting hard. They had tried to run with Zen only to run out of steam after a few laps. With dinner nearly done Veronica went to call the cubs in for the night. \n\n\tZen stopped his marathon run just in front of the 6 cubs sitting in the grass. He sighed. Looks like running would take days to have any real affects. Magic is the only way to burn off the energy then. With that said Zen walked away from everyone to get a safe distance away from them. As he got to a safe distance Veronica came out the door. Zen however had already started to cast his spell. He had his right palm above his head aimed to the sky. Before anyone could ask him what he was doing his body erupted in flames. Veronica screamed and started running across the yard but was stopped by the heat coming off the flames. The other children ran over to Veronica. As all this was happening a pillar of fire rose from Zen’s right hand. It shot up into the sky. Only a minute after Zen started casting his spell the flames went out and he stood their panting.\n\n\tVeronica ran to Zen. She put her hands on his Shoulders. Oh my god are you okay? What was that? Looking Zen over Veronica saw no burns. His cloths were a little hot but he had no burns. Zen looked at her. He was still panting. I’m fine, that was a fire spell. I guess seeing me covered in fire was scary huh? Veronica pulled Zen into a hug. My heart nearly stopped. Don’t do that again okay. Zen pulled away. I had to do something. I would never be able to sleep tonight if I didn’t use up some of my energy. If I have to do something like this again I promise I will warn you. The other cubs were too scared at this point to approach. Zen looked at them before chuckling. Its fine you guys. That was just a little bit of magic. They were still too scared to come closer. Zen sighed. Zen turned away from Veronica before starting another spell. This one pulled the water out of the air. It formed a bunny before freezing. The bunny was as tall as Zen. He walked over and put his hand on It’s head. This is also magic.\n\n\tThe others including Veronica were amazed. Zen chuckled. Magic isn’t just fire and stuff like that. There are so many types of magic out there. Some more useful than others. You guys wondered how I know lunch was ready earlier right. I could see that Veronica was headed our way. My red eye is always using a type of magic. It’s something I cannot control. Just know that if you guys start learning magic… don’t try what I did with the fire. My body is different… I cannot be burned or shocked. Well that’s all for my magic use today. I’m pooped. It’s time to eat right?\n\n\tVeronica snapped out of her shocked daze. Y-yes it’s time to eat. Let’s head inside. Before they could go however a fire truck pulled up in front of the yard. Zen walked toward the truck waving. Sorry you got called out here. That fire was a magic spell. Nothings on fire here. The firemen were shocked. They had a small understanding of magic. However they had never seen a pillar of fire before. Zen chuckled. If I need to vent again I will have Veronica call you guys. Veronica approached the firemen. Sorry for the false alarm. I had no idea Zen could even use magic till today. The men shrugged. Seeing no harm done other than a few scared neighbors the firemen gave a warning before heading back the station. \n\n\tWith a sigh of relief Veronica led the cubs inside to have their dinner. After everyone was fed it was bath time. The order for the baths would go oldest to youngest. This meant Zen would be last. By the time Zen had taken his bath it was bed time. All the cubs went to their rooms and went to sleep. Despite all the energy Zen used he still had a hard time sleeping. Every time he was alone his thoughts would go to his past. "writing_bbcode_parsed": "Adjusting to Change

\tZen had a hard time staying asleep.

\tLittle did the sleeping wolves know, but Officer Singer was standing at the foot of their bed. She stood there hands on her hips. With a sigh she turned to the window in the room opening the blinds. Sunlight beamed down on Chaotic’s face. Zen’s face however was half covered by the Chaotic and the blankets. Chaotic shielded his eyes from the blinding light. Blinking a few times he looked at the officer standing at the foot of his bed.

\tGood morning Ruby. It’s time to go.

\tThe timing for the wakeup call could not have been worse. Zen’s body stated glowing and sparks of electricity covered his body.

\tChaotic saw this and quickly got between Ruby and Zen.

\tChaotic turned his attention to the cub in the corner. Why… do… I… have to… go… back there?

\tHugging Zen tight Chaotic tried to calm the crying pup.

\tZen’s expression changed to anger. Wanna start dating?

\tRuby’s eyes went wide.

\tZen was done changing and walking down the hall back to Chaotic’s room.

\tBack at the orphanage Veronica and the children were waiting on the front lawn.

\tZen started walking toward the entrance to the orphanage.

\tOnce inside the cubs went about doing their normal routines.

\tZen shook his head.

\tJames nodded. Both cubs laughed loud enough to catch the attention of the other cubs.

\tSoon all the others were peeking into Zen’s room. Don’t let it hit you on the way out.

\tAdam grinned.

\tEveryone shrugged and followed Veronica to the dining hall. Zen however had fallen asleep.

. . .

\tMeanwhile at Chaotic’s house.

\tChaotic stood from his chair.
Specifically fire magic. I’m just glad he didn’t cover himself in fire.

\tSatisfied for now Ruby finished her coffee and stood to leave. Chaotic went about his daily routine and prepared his practical magic class later tonight.

. . .

\tBack at the orphanage. I don’t think they are as strong as I am.

\tWith that said Zen made his way to the yard where the other children were playing with a soccer ball. But I think you’re getting it.

\tThe cubs got into a rhythm of passing in kind of a star pattern. He ran the edge of the property as fast as he could.

\tVeronica looked out the window to see Zen running.

\tZen stopped his marathon run just in front of the 6 cubs sitting in the grass. Only a minute after Zen started casting his spell the flames went out and he stood their panting.

\tVeronica ran to Zen. This is also magic.

\tThe others including Veronica were amazed. I’m pooped. It’s time to eat right?

\tVeronica snapped out of her shocked daze.

\tWith a sigh of relief Veronica led the cubs inside to have their dinner. Nightmares were sure to fill the young wolf’s dreams.

As Zen drifted to sleep he knew that things were going to be hard to get used to. How could he adjust to a lifestyle he never had before? Before he know it he was fast asleep. What would await the little wolf in the morning?
",
