Chapter 1 - The Last Stand The air was stiff, on January 1st, 2017. Tensions were high and as Blu, a dinosaur with the ability to regenerate any wound, runs through an open door in an apartment complex in new york. Soon, others followed his path, including a dark furred husky-like canine, a pure white horse with a dark green mane and extraordinary orange eyes. ‘Blu, hold up, we don’t know where he is!’ gasped the equine, wheezing for breath every few seconds. Blu stopped at an office door and turned, wide-eyed and looking mortified. The canine joined in on the conversation, ‘Angel, we don’t know what happened, it could have been really bad.’ The horse, Angel, rubbed his long snout and coughed, ‘Damn it… Blu, what happened?’ Blu looked back and raised an arm, pointing to the hallway behind them. Angel turned and swallowed, ‘Wh-where is Brit? Hel?’ The ending of this sentence drew onto a horrifying scream as Brit, a roguish iguana with long burnt-yellow spines running from head to tail, came out from behind a water cooler, he had a distressed look in his eyes. ‘Blu, it’s Hel!’. Angel and the canine looked at each other and Blu ran between them to join Brit. ‘Piz, stay here, keep an eye out from this end!’ Piz nodded as Angel ran to Blu’s aid. Blu and Angel rushed to Brit’s side, Blu calming him down, holding him. Angel burst through the door. Along the floor, on her back, was Hel, a very femininely dressed Red Jay, with blood pooling from her stomach and neck. Angel began to wretch, holding his mouth and trying not to speak. Blu grabbed Brit’s shoulder and pushed him over to Piz. Down the corridor, Piz looked up and made sure Brit was alright, when clearly he was not. Angel looked back at Blu, ‘Well, this is it, we’re all dead, she was the only one who could--’, SWOOSH! Something flew by Angel’s face, and sliced straight through his shoulder. He grabbed his shoulder and he and Blu began to run, Angel faced Brit and Piz, ‘Run! He’s found us!’ The four of them began to run down the corridor. The few came unto a locked door. Suddenly, without warning, a samurai-like character phased into reality before them, severing the group. Blu and Angel backed up and Angel began to run away. Blu swallowed his fear and tried to grab the mysterious fighter, but he was having none of it and delivered a fatal slash into the side of Blu’s face, killing him in an instant. No pain, no suffering, just sudden death. Mere inches away, the samurai turned back around and swung for Piz, but missed as he backed up and phased through the door. Brit looked at the door, then back at the swordsman and gasped as the samurai aimed for Brit’s lower stomach. Out of the blue, Blu suddenly raised, thanks to his immortality (See this story) and grabbed the samurai, he looked around desperately for a solution, and when he found it, he beckoned to Brit to move as fast as he could as he leapt towards the window and threw himself and the samurai out, falling seemingly to their painful deaths. Brit panicked and looked around, then stumbled over to the window, staring outside, but saw nothing, no dead dinosaur nor japanese soldier. He stumbled back to the door, and ran into it, breaking the lock and sending the door off of its hinges. Inside the room, Piz was splayed across a meeting table with his intestines lying across the blood soaked furniture, which were all in disarray. As he panicked, he failed to notice the samurai had flown into the window behind him carrying Blu’s dead body. Brit covered his musty, dark green scaly face with his wounded hands and began to tear up as he turned around. He dropped his hands from his face and saw the samurai, who was staring back and mocking him. Beside him, on the ground, Blu’s hand twitched. ‘Please, don’t do this!’ Brit cried. ‘It wasn’t us, we really di-d--’, overwhelmed by grief and sadness, Brit failed to complete his plea and as the samurai raised his katana, Blu weakly rose to his knees. As he looked up, the samurai struck Brit in the chest, mortally wounding him. The warrior turned around, saw Blu’s face, blank, squinting in pain, leaving his sword in Brit’s now reddening scales. ‘Bl-- Ruu… Bl--’, Brit fell to his knees as Blu rose to his knees. A look of sadness filled Blu’s now heavy eyes. Brit began to cough up copious amounts of fresh, scarlet red blood. Blu failed to utter a single word, his inability to speak left him horrified. He began to pound on the carpet flooring, smashing an office window in the progress. He began to cry as he blasted the door down, laying his eyes upon Piz’s mangled corpse. Blu’s eyes began to glow a frightful shade of red, and his hands became older looking and cracked, his claws began to emerge as he continued his outrage. ‘Blu!’ Bl-- guh--!’ Blu stopped, and looked back, to see Brit laid on the floor, reaching out for Blu. He lashed out and punched himself in the face several time before reaching down to Brit and tenderly holding him in his arms. Blu grabbed the sword and kissed Brit upon his cheek as he pulled out the wedged steel blade. Brit gasped for breath as he did. ‘EEE’ Squeaked Blu. Brit smiled and stroked Blu’s face. ‘Ch...leeee’ Blu tried to scream, but he was unable to speak, infuriating him even more. ‘Blu, ba-- babe… it’s ok-- guh, we, tried…’ Brit uttered as the look of death filled his eyes, and his scales grew colder as his body failed him. Blu couldn’t do anything but mourn for the dead comrade he held in his arms. Overcome with rage and conflicting grief, he began to rock back and forth, shaking his head in despair, wishing for all the world, that he could give his life, his immortality even, to Brit, in the slightest hope that he’d get to hear Brit’s voice, just once more, to say what never got said. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the building, Angel was running for his life, holding his shoulder and crying in agony. ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!’ he kept whispering in a horrid tone. As he got to the stairs of the building, he ran into the samurai, who held out his hand. Angel backed up and refused, so the warrior reached out with both his hands, tightly grabbed Angel’s neck, and in seconds, both of them vanished.
