Inari was one of the characters I made all the way back on Furcadia as one of my reforming prey boys. Unlike Malus, who was born a bit before him, I wanted to not really let him have any powers aside from being able to reform. And unlike Malus who was rather more playful, confident and mischievous, Inari was meant to be more gentle, with, I admit, a bit of the cliché tragic backstory.^^\n\nIn his case, the initial idea was that he had been kidnapped for an experiment called the \"Ether Project\" that was supposed to produce extreme regeneration. In this initial stage with the first humanoid test subjects, the failure rate was still pretty high. Inari was the only one not ending in a rather gruesome fate. And the only one who managed to escape. \nThis left the fox a bit of an aimless wanderer who eventually found at least one sensible purpose for his \"gift\" to get him to overcome the guilt, trauma and anxieties: giving some nice hungry guys a good meal rather than some shady bad guys a guinea pig. :-p\n\nThough he also has seen some use in other scenarios, alternate timelines where he may not always ended up in that situation.
