I was reminded of Slash, a character that I really like but often forget due to his over all lack of use in the TMNT series as a whole. Since I've taken the time to redesign the ninja turtles already, I may as well give the same treatment to the original \"fifth turtle.\" (don't expect any art of Venus DeMilo)\n\nWhile a kanabo doesn't exactly fit the moniker of \"Slash,\" I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make him Oni themed for my specific brand of the turtles. If I made the main four all very Japanese warrior themed, then it stands to reason that their dark counterpart that can easily best them all would be an Oni and it works with his larger, spikier physique. I've never liked that Slash never had a very set weapon and what he does use tends to border on weapons that the four turtles use themselves, so I took away his Shredder-esque gauntlet in favor just natural spike on his hands, similarly the kanabo, while not very 'Slash-like' is such a weapon meant for only one purpose; to kill. It's a brutal weapon that could break through the turtles' natural defenses, and establishes him as more of a killer then the others.\n\nAdditionally, Oni, while normally evil creatures have been depicted as being dim-witted and easily bribed in stories, which I feel fits Slash's usual stupidity and sometimes siding with the turtles.
