There were plenty of times then too that I felt I wasn’t going to make it—figuratively and literally. But despite that, I kept going. Next thing I knew, I was an adult. I’m not at all perfect, but the things I thought I’d never overcome I’ve managed to scrabble my way through. I look back at when I was a child. If I could go back in time to talk to myself, every moment where I felt hopeless, or useless, or that I would be better off dead—I’d pick little me up and dust myself off, and tell ‘em “hang in there, kid”.\n\nRight now I’m changing jobs, I’ve got less than $100 to my name, and wrestling with my doctor to get my prescriptions refilled.
