Pilot's Journal
Everyone is thinking the war is coming to a close. It's in the papers, it's in the news, you hear it from the captains and from the newbies enlisting for that last shot at glory before the Egg Legion is beaten.
It is true we're pushing them back more and more, but these fresh flyers don't seem to realize that the legion is more desperate, and more dangerous, than before as well. Can't count the number of times I've had to save their asses in a dog-fight. Then again, it's not like I haven't had more than my share of close calls, especially once they get a look at the new paint job. Word going around is the Fat-Bastard himself put a high reward out to the one who brings me down.
Not that it matters. They may come close, but they'll never hit me, not while I've got my beautiful Angel flying with me, not while she's working hard back home waiting for me. I'm sure she's pissed she can't come out to help on the front, not in her condition. I know she blames me, but she does it with a smile.
She does all she can to help out back home, though. Half my squads planes probably had her helping assemble them, she's helping as many causes as she can, she even sent me a special copy of the latest poster she was in, one she posed for just for me...
Certainly more than enough motivation to survive this shit and get home. No way in hell will the legion stop me from coming home to that, and no way in hell will they make my kid grow up without a dad.
