"description": "I started drawing this yesterday right after waking up. The first drawing I did (the number one there) was rather half hearted and I wasn't happy with any part of it. So I did another right after and did a few things differently and wrote out a little critique of both. I believe that a person's emotional state has everything to do with how a drawing comes out, but it's tricky to tease them apart. Perfection paralysis is a very real danger when you're trying to do anything. Being critical or listening to critics doesn't help at all if it hijacks your confidence or sense of self. \r\n@ChrisGoodwin says it way better in his journal entry on discouragement:\r\nhttps://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1262958/\r\n\r\nI seriously think I need to start keeping an art journal. Not just drawings but the thoughts that go with them at the time. It actually helps because you're not just getting out how you feel on \"paper\", you're getting out how you feel about what you're doing on the \"paper\". Like taking every single thing you have and making use of it. Hate what you draw? No problem, go into those feelings, get them out, describe them, study them, don't be a stranger to yourself ^^ \r\n\r\nMistakes can be more intresting because they give you more to study and learn from than drawing it perfect every time. One way my art teacher put was that \"lines aren't mistakes, they're just choices.\" And he was completely right. It's just how you evaluate whatever you're doing. Even focusing on the final outcome of something can stop you from finishing it or doing it again. My art teacher used to tell us all the time that he wanted to \"speed up the process of us making mistakes\". Well...what better way to do that then to completely remove any sort of performance pressure? Children babble and make noises for 3 or 4 years before they learn how to speak a langauge. If art is a langauge, why can't grownup's give themselves permission to do the same?\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t",
