"description": "Today new slaves had arrived at the Red Rock Camp. Ralka pitied them. The first days were always particularly miserable and traumatizing for newcomers. Being a slave was hard and undesirable no matter what, but even more so in this place. Twelve hours of work every day, under the burning desert sun, were in store for them. Though, to top it off, the guards had the habit of welcoming new arrivals by treating them extra worse---more whiplashes, more shouting, more insults, and demanding a workload barely achievable for the strongest breeds. She had lived through that herself three years ago. Though as the stoic battle-hardened warrior she used to be, she took it without thinking twice about it.\n\nThe Bunny that had arrived today, together with a Mouse, most certainly could not take it. Half a dozen other slaves had been in the caravan, but they were sent to other parts of the vast encampment, and the Lioness could not tell how they would fare. Those two, though, worked in close proximity to her and some other long-time inhabitants---a Cheetah who has been here for longer than herself and a Fennec who had arrived about two years ago.\n\nHowever, she could only describe the Bunny as a wimp. Despite feeling bad for it. As she was fully aware that not everyone had lived a life en route as a trained warrior. Nor did every profession or life plan require to be tough. She didn’t blame or disrespected him for being weak; it was just a matter of fact for her. Still, he clearly wasn’t built for hard work nor to endure the degradation and humiliation that came with being a slave. They were not more than beasts of burden, nude work animals that got treated way worse than, well, an animal.\n\nWhen a guard began whipping him to push him to work faster, he broke down, mentally and physically. A sobbing ball of Bunny fluff lying on the ground. While unbeknownst to the poor guy, a bigger mistake he could not have made. If he had endured the whip and scolding, the guard would have walked away after a few lashes and insults. Yet instead, he gave the warden precisely the reaction he had hoped and waited for. Thus a barrage of insults rained upon the crying guy while the whip drew a labyrinth of red trenches on the unfortunate Bunny’s back.\n\nShe wanted to explain to him that he had to stand up and start working again to stop the torment. Unfortunately, that would have only earned her a severe punishment too. And just as an example, the Bunny would have been punished even harder. The guards disapproved of slaves helping each other. So, no, as much as she wanted to, she couldn’t help the guy right now. Looking away and focusing on her own work was the best thing she could do right now. After all, if one lies naked and sobbing on the ground while being beaten, being watched by prying eyes usually doesn’t make it better.\n\nThough, if the opportunity arises in the slave pens tonight, she really has to talk with him and explain to him some basic rules of survival in this camp and as a slave in general. Otherwise, he’ll perish before the month ends. Despite that many new slaves die due to the harsh conditions or brutal punishments dished out even for minor incidents, a small guy like him can nonetheless survive here for a very long time if he’s smart about it. She knew several furs who survived this camp for more than two decades by now, including a small but sturdy bunny girl. It is possible to last in this place, no matter if you’re strong or not, and she is doing her best to help as many furs to survive.\n\nThe other newcomer, a Mouse girl, worked just a few steps to her side. If it came to raw strength, she didn’t offer much. Yet unlike the Bunny, she would have never called her a weakling. Despite her petite appearance and lack of muscles, she possessed this quality of fortitude. Just by watching her, you knew she would not break down sobbing. Despite struggling with the hard work and the heat, she kept going. She never slowed down but simply hammered the stones as expected from her, stoically without complaints. One like her would not be broken by being a slave. Without a doubt, Ralka knew this Mouse would endure no matter what comes.\n\nThe girl was even so fortunate to bring a bit of clothing with her. Though, the word clothing is used quite loosely here. The rags she wore hid barely anything---or nothing if one caught a glimpse from a wrong angle. Yet when about two-thirds of the slaves are absolutely nude sans their chains, any kind of fabric had a dignifying effect. Ralka herself was immensely grateful that she managed to protect her skimpy loincloth for three years now. Despite it objectively not hiding much and hardly granting any modesty since most of her body was still revealed. Still, not having her nether region and ass exposed to every asshole guard filled her with gratitude.\n\nShe knew if she ever loses her rags, they are gone for good. Slaves were not provided with clothing. Most arrived nude, but those who managed to retain a few rags better held onto it as long as possible. Though sooner or later, every slave ends up naked. She knew she would, too, at some point.\n\nThe remaining day went by uneventful, even though it took the Bunny an excruciatingly long time until he got up and continued working to stop his torture. The Mouse girl, as expected, wasn’t faced by the guards whipping and shouting. She just suffered through it, and as usual, the guard quickly lost interest. Otherwise, it was just another arduous yet dull day in the Red Rock Camp. Back-breaking work under the unforgiving sun and being watched by sadistic guards.\n\nLater in the slave pens, before the day ended, she found the Bunny and Mouse and shared some of her insights about surviving in this place. As well as some observations of the guard behaviors she had picked up over the years. No reason that those two figured things out themselves the hard way!
