"writing": "On this day, everything felt good to Sally.\nThe colour of flowers and the sweetness of their smell. The car ride from her parents house to the school was still a confusing concept but now she did not care. Her mind was set on meeting Tobi again and her heart burned to feel his tingling touch again. Waving goodbye to her parents she entered school and noticed how nice the posters on the walls were. The bright colours and pretty pictures caught her eye although she did not pay attention to any of the words. \n\nHer classes went just as good as well. She had never realised how interesting some subjects were and it was so much easier to do maths and spelling when you can actually remember a bit more of the rules. Although there were a few more distractions than normal now. \n\nSally found herself daydreaming in the middle of her maths class. Head resting in her hand, she turned her eyes to the sky outside of the window. It’s rich blues reminding her of Tobi. Feeling a tingle run down her spine she absent mindedly took her other hand and began to press it under her dress. The pleasant sensation added to her fantasies as she imagined herself holding his hand, dancing with him under the moonlight, and kissing him. Her tail wagged as she pressed harder into her panties but then she suddenly remembered where she was. Before she could get into trouble again she withdrew her hand and continued to read her textbook. \n\nEvery few minutes she would check the clock for the current time.\nLunchtime could not come soon enough for her. \n\nAs soon as the bell rang she skipped out of class and began to quickly head down to the gardens but as she reached an intersection between two hallways she froze. Standing in the middle of the crossroads was something ugly and different. A tall black body with only one distended arm. It was hazy as if trying to see without glasses but she could still make out enough. All the other students were walking past or even through it without paying the creature any mind. It was like Tobi. Something unseen that normally nobody is aware of. \n\nA chill ran down her spine as several points of logic came to her. \nShe was the only one who could see Tobi which meant she is the one who could see this creature. Tobi had told her that normally others appear hazy to him but Sally was always as clear as day. Which in turn would mean that this creature could also see her as clearly as Tobi could. Sally was unsure if such a thing could touch her but Tobi’s warmth could be felt, and that tingle when they brushed hands. \n\nNot wanting to find out what this creature was, she turned and headed around the corner before running down the hallway, taking another turn, and going up the stairs to the second floor. Not wanting to peek over the railing, she turned her eyes to the stairs and looked through them to the floor below. Her blood froze as she found the creature was there. Unmoving but at the bottom of the stairs. She wanted to run but some instinct told her to stay still and quiet as if hiding in the underbrush. Stuck between two instincts she continued to stare at it until suddenly it moved. Slowly, elegantly, like a dancer stepping on stage it extended a long leg before starting to tip toe up the stairs. It made no noise and was disturbingly slow for how fast it had reached the stairs to begin with. Sally hated it. \n\nWith fear overtaking her instincts she turned and began to run again. Sally headed down the halls and around corners, upstairs and down without daring to check behind her again but being distracted she could not remember the layout of the school. Without realising it she found herself running into a dead end. \n\nShe did not want to turn around. Sally could not do it. Dropping down she hugged her knees to her body and lowered her ears as if trying to make herself as small as possible. She knew that it was still there though because she could feel it. A cold, prickly, feeling that was slowly getting closer. Before it could reach her however there came a disturbance, and a familiar warmth. Sally spun herself around so fast that she fell onto her butt. She found Tobi clinging to the back of the creature as numerous mouths all across its oily body opened and closed like clicking zippers. At first she felt relief but Tobi was so much smaller than the creature and soon was overpowered. It grabbed him around the neck and began to squeeze the life out of him as Tobi feebly struggled.\n\nSally wanted to help but she could not touch the creature nor harm it. \nTobi continued to struggle but it was when he saw the sadness on Sally’s face that he stopped his flailings. He gave her a comforting smile and mouthed something sweet to her before turning his eyes on the beast. From within his chest a blue core began to glow. His body became more solid, and started to increase in size. His wings doubled, and a glowing blue ring formed above his head like a crown. With his new found strength he pulled away from the creature. \n\nHe continued to burn his own soul to increase his power and once he stood twice as tall as his usual self, he swiped his hand towards the creature and shattered it like black glass. Each piece melted away as it crumbled to the floor. \n\nSally was happy but she could tell something was wrong. His body began to shrink and his outline became more and more hazy. The crown cracked and crumbled to the ground and his wings returned to their normal size. With all of his energy having been spent on one attack he did not have enough to sustain his existence any further. With each passing second he withered away, becoming smaller and smaller until he was like that of a doll to Sally. \n\nShe could not accept such an end however.\nReaching into his body she wrapped her hands around his core and began to confess everything she felt to him. She gave everything. Her love for her new found friend, how much she liked his kindness, and how much she adored his bravery. She took her hatred for the creature, the fear that she had felt, and the pain she now experienced at watching Tobi die. Within all of her emotions she poured as much of her Esper energy as she had to spare, until her special vision failed and her eyes went blind. \n\nShe desired to be with Tobi again, she wanted him to be well and be with her and she wanted to see what future they would have together. The glass of the windows near her shook as a swirl of intense psionic energy balled up around her and was pushed forward into Tobi. Sally had no idea what she was doing on a conscious level, she simply wanted, and desired, and her mind and soul did the rest. \n\n“You are full of surprises, Sally of the bunnies.”\nTobi said. And this time, Sally heard him. \n\nSally let go of Tobi and after her eyes regained the ability to see, she found him floating strong and healthy again. She was overjoyed but her attempts to hug him failed as she phased through him. Happy but frustrated she stood laughing and crying in equal measure. Gently Tobi held his hands to her cheeks and rubbed her fur softly. To those passing by the end of the hallways it looked quite odd, even by her standards, to see a ruffled Sally laughing and crying while staring at the ceiling. \n\n“I won’t forget such a gift you have given me.”\nTobi spoke to her gently. \n\nShe was amazed and overjoyed that she could now hear him. It was not just his voice either as she could faintly hear the soft flutter of his wings and the calm rhythms of his breathing. Sally loved his voice though more than anything. It was soft yet firm, and so very smooth. Like silk that tickled the ears. \n\n“Happy!” Sally spoke before being even more surprised. \n“Speak?” Sally said as she bounced up and down excitedly. \n\n“It seems that whatever allows you to now hear me works both ways.” \nTobi tried to explain. \n\n“You saved me!” She said slowly. \n\nTobi’s caring gaze and relief suddenly turned to shame and he turned away from her. \n\n“Our touch caused you to become different. If I did not have such an obsession with your kind then you would not have been in danger to begin with. For that, I’m terribly sorry.” \n\nIn reply Sally walked through him before turning around to face him.\nShe smiled warmly at him before reaching out and touching his nose. Tobi was unsure on how but he could understand what her gestures meant. She was telling him that she did not blame him for any of this and, if given the chance, she would have done it again. \n\n“Thank you.” Tobi said. \n\nFrom then on he stuck close to Sally. \nAfter spending most of lunch practising how to talk and the proper pronunciations of common words, she returned to class with him following not too far behind. In some way or another, be it just outside the classroom window, or sitting right next to her in her parent’s car, he never left her side. Thankfully they did not have any further encounters with the Gribblers. \n\nOnce she had arrived home they then spent the rest of the day together. And while it was a new feeling for Sally to talk instead of write, she embraced it quickly, and began to talk to him about all sorts of topics. \n\nShe loved warm ice cream that had melted, and sweet foods like cotton candy. Sally also liked loose clothing that did not cling to her too tightly. This was true for the Ismi as well, as Tobi’s own outfit showed. A single waist wrapping of ethereal cloth that was so transparent that it did not hide anything from view. Tobi explained that because he never felt the rain or cold there was no reason to cover himself. His kind also carried no shame about nudity and sex and would often embrace each other for hours at a time. Sally quite liked the sound of that. It was better than those at school who judged her for wanting to enjoy her own body. \n\nSally had never known anyone to listen to her so closely and with the weather being so pleasant it created a pleasurable few hours that passed like minutes. Once it was time for bed Sally shamelessly stripped off her dress right in front of Tobi. Knowing that her kind found nudity to be embarrassing he averted his eyes for her sake, but then realised that she knew he was looking at her to begin with. Sure enough, when he turned his gaze to her he found her quite happy to be watched. Once she had thrown on her T-shirt and buried herself under her blankets she gave Tobi a sleepy smile. \n\n“Good night, Sally of the bunnies.” \nHe said to her as he turned the lamp off with a wave of his hand. \n\nLit by the moonlight he saw her waving him over. Stepping closer she suddenly reached up and rubbed her nose against his own. Although the two could not actually touch, the indirect kiss caused a pleasant tingle to spread down Sally’s spine. \n\nShe giggled and tucked herself away shyly into her blankets. \n\nTobi’s stony expression cracked once more at her cute display of affection. \nHis gaze softened for a moment but soon hardened again as he turned to the closed window and passed through it. Flying up to the roof, he peered out across the suburbs of Pardon. The streets were lit by lamp and moonlight alike. Each home was cosy and warm. Between the gold and silver though hid the shadows. Thick and envious and always waiting for someone to stray from the path and become lost. \n\nTobi sat himself down on the roof of Sally’s home and looked up to the moon above him. Within his chest his core had become unusually big. He could feel the power with it and he could trace a connection from it to Sally. This unseen thread would explain how the pair of them could now see and speak to each other but there was more to it than just that. Tobi could feel a new power within him that he did not have before. It was a warmth his kind did not normally have. \n\nHeading up into the air, Tobi flew over the suburbs with his ears ready to pick up the slightest disturbance. He stuck close to Sally’s house at first but soon began to branch out and travel further away. It was as he neared the local library that he heard it. A small noise, inaudible to the ones who lived on the surface but distinct to the Ismi. It was like static and teeth grinding against each other. \n\nApproaching the library he found that it was covered in a thin but ethereal mist. This toxic miasma induced a sense of dread in the living but it was very toxic to those of the spiritual world. Tobi did not want to quit so easily and so he focused on his core and dredged up just enough light to form a hole in the barrier. It was tiring and he could only do it for a few seconds but it was enough to slip inside. \n\nAfter thanking Sally for the powers she had given him he slipped through the locked doors of the library. It was dark and clearly sealed for the night and yet he could sense something deeper inside. \n\nHeading down the hallways, he kept himself focused on the noise and after going upstairs to the first floor he found a girl slowly walking in the darkness with nothing but her phone for company. Around her a thin black mist swirled, unseen to her and to her kind, but easily visible to the Ismi. Tobi clicked his tongue and approached but the foul smelling miasma prevented him from getting any closer.\n\nTobi looked at the girl. Her eyes were tired and sunken while her body was skinny and malnourished. She used her phone for light but the screen was cracked and it had no decoration that would imply it was even hers. He had seen this kind of thing before and he knew that he needed to act fast to help her. \n\nFollowing a thin thread of the miasma that led away into the darkness of the library, Tobi soon found himself up on the roof of the building. It was here that the air was coldest and the shadows were deeper than normal. All around a cool fog swirled and churned, and in the middle was a Gribbler. It was not like the Whispering Anxiety that Tobi had fought at school. It was much bigger, with an odd number of burning red eyes, screws for teeth, and fish hooks for fingers. Tobi had only ever seen such a thing in books. \n\n“Sorrowful Fisher.” Tobi spat as he eyed the creature. \n\nAll of the Ismi hated Gribbler and for good measure. \nThis one in particular he had a great distaste for. It was one that would infest a normally safe and welcoming location and slowly drain all of the emotions from a target, until they were so depressed and apathetic that they would take their own life. It would then feed on the misery others felt for the loss of such an innocent life until they too became too hollow to live. It was a slow process thankfully but if left unchecked, a once wonderful home or comfortable library could become nothing but an abandoned building full of painful memories.\n\nFrom deep within Tobi pulled up the power Sally had given him. He grasped it once more and let it spread throughout his body. All at once his wings grew and the crowd of light appeared above his head again. In that moment Tobi felt great power but unlike the first time he had done this, his soul was not burning and he was in no danger of self harm. He had control. \n\nTobi continued to let the energy grow and blossom. His radiance soon became like that of a roaring cerulean fire, with light that cast away the abyssal shadows closing in around him. The Gribbler in front of him recoiled at such light and became angry. Before it could make a move Tobi launched himself forward in an attempt to throw a punch. His speed however proved too great and he quickly collided with the creature with all the force of a car crash. \nThe Gribbler was sent flying backwards. Its body skimming over the rooftop like a stone thrown from a master pitcher. It tumbled and screamed in bountiful agony and ecstasy alike. Tobi meanwhile was sent to the ground. His ears rang and his body hurt from the impact but he forced himself to beat his wings and take to the air once more. \n\nHe exhaled. His every breath felt like twenty as his stamina burned like kindling under the weight of his own strength. It was clear to him now that this was not a fight he could win by attrition.\n\nWith a flutter of his wings he launched towards the Gribbler again. As he approached however it suddenly twisted its body around and evaded the wide swing Tobi made. It lashed out and clawed deep wounds with its hooks. Tobi gasped from the pain but the light within him slowed his azure ichor from seeping out. He zig and zagged in the air before diving in and driving his fist into the creature’s body. It collapsed. The strike devastating the Gribbler like the shell of a cannon. Its screws were broken and scattered across the floor as its eyes rolled and shook in pain. \n\nBut then, from deep within the creature, it let loose a loud and terrible laughter. \n\nGlancing around Tobi found that the girl had reached the roof top and was slowly approaching the ledge of the roof. With new found anger rising, he pushed on past his fatigue and began to lash out at the creature with powerful strikes. Dazed and screaming and laughing sickly, it could do nothing but swing its hooks wildly as Tobi ignored every slash and tear and struck it again and again. He did not stop until the Gribbler’s body shattered and finally began to melt away. \n\nExhausted and wounded Tobi collapsed onto the ground. He breathed heavily and attempted to withdraw the power but it was the only thing keeping him from succumbing to his injuries. Turning his head to the ledge he found the girl standing on the very edge of oblivion. She looked down at the ground below and although the miasma had faded her emotions were still drained dry. \n\nBefore she could take that final step several more Ismi appeared from below. They reached out to her and gave her some of their energy. Suddenly the girl gasped and stumbled backwards as new found fear and a want to live flooded into her body. She sat herself upon the ground in shock of her own actions. She felt hungry and alone and scared. Using her phone she began to ring someone. Tobi felt relief, she would be fine now and in time recover. \n\nPulling himself to his feet again Tobi buried the power and transformed himself back. The Ismi who had come to help were Delvers. Experts in fighting Gribblers and watchers of the world of the living. \n\n“Kin. What are you doing here, and what was that form you had?”\nThe lead Delver spoke as he tucked a blue steeled blade back into its sheath. \n\n“Prey tell, how did you get past the miasma so quickly?”\nAnother asked to the lead Delver’s right. \n\n“I found new strength, a friend gave me power.” \nTobi replied as he spat the ichor from his mouth.\n\n“A friend?” The leader Delver asked as he noticed the Gribbler melting nearby.\n\n“It’s complicated and I don’t know everything yet myself.”\nTobi spoke as he wiped the sweat from his brow. \n\n“As the Mismi has taught us. A path unwalked is the hardest, but most rewarding.” \nThe lead Delver spoke as he placed a supportive hand on Tobi’s shoulder. \n“As Kin, you are welcome to return to the Garden anytime.” \n\n“Thank you.” \nTobi said as he placed his hand over the Delver’s in appreciation. \n“Blessings to you all but I must rest.” \nTobi then said as he gave them a polite nod. \n\nStepping away from the group he beat his wings and took off towards the sky.\n\n“Did you see it as well?”\nA Delver to the left of the lead asked. \n\n“The shape was different but it was surely a crown of some kind.”\nThe lead Delver replied as he looked to the stars in thought. \n“We must report this to the Mismi.” \n\nTobi continued to fly high up into the sky above the library. He basked in the cold air and stiff breeze blowing past until his sore body felt refreshed and cool. For a while he lingered there before starting the trip back to Sally’s house. It did not take long but his body was tired from the fight and his wings felt heavy. \n\nOnce he arrived he passed through her bedroom window and crept to her large bed. With a gentle flap of his wings and careful steps he climbed into the bed next to Sally. She looked beautiful in the moonlight. Her pale fur and peaceful smile made her look as serene as any Ismi he had seen. He traced his fingers across her face and smiled as she scrunched up her nose cutely. \n\nTobi laid down next to her, his body phasing through the covers but resting against the mattress. He closed his eyes. Her comforting smell and the warmth of her body aided him in falling into a deep and restful sleep. ",

His ears rang and his body hurt from the impact but he forced himself to beat his wings and take to the air once more. <br /><br />He exhaled. His every breath felt like twenty as his stamina burned like kindling under the weight of his own strength. It was clear to him now that this was not a fight he could win by attrition.<br /><br />With a flutter of his wings he launched towards the Gribbler again. As he approached however it suddenly twisted its body around and evaded the wide swing Tobi made. It lashed out and clawed deep wounds with its hooks. Tobi gasped from the pain but the light within him slowed his azure ichor from seeping out. He zig and zagged in the air before diving in and driving his fist into the creature&rsquo;s body. It collapsed. The strike devastating the Gribbler like the shell of a cannon. Its screws were broken and scattered across the floor as its eyes rolled and shook in pain. <br /><br />But then, from deep within the creature, it let loose a loud and terrible laughter. <br /><br />Glancing around Tobi found that the girl had reached the roof top and was slowly approaching the ledge of the roof. With new found anger rising, he pushed on past his fatigue and began to lash out at the creature with powerful strikes. Dazed and screaming and laughing sickly, it could do nothing but swing its hooks wildly as Tobi ignored every slash and tear and struck it again and again. He did not stop until the Gribbler&rsquo;s body shattered and finally began to melt away. <br /><br />Exhausted and wounded Tobi collapsed onto the ground. He breathed heavily and attempted to withdraw the power but it was the only thing keeping him from succumbing to his injuries. Turning his head to the ledge he found the girl standing on the very edge of oblivion. She looked down at the ground below and although the miasma had faded her emotions were still drained dry. <br /><br />Before she could take that final step several more Ismi appeared from below. <br /><br />Pulling himself to his feet again Tobi buried the power and transformed himself back. The Ismi who had come to help were Delvers. Experts in fighting Gribblers and watchers of the world of the living. <br /><br />&ldquo;Kin. What are you doing here, and what was that form you had?&rdquo;<br />The lead Delver spoke as he tucked a blue steeled blade back into its sheath. <br /><br />&ldquo;Prey tell, how did you get past the miasma so quickly?&rdquo;<br />Another asked to the lead Delver&rsquo;s right. <br /><br />&ldquo;I found new strength, a friend gave me power.&rdquo; <br />Tobi replied as he spat the ichor from his mouth.<br /><br />&ldquo;A friend?&rdquo; The leader Delver asked as he noticed the Gribbler melting nearby.<br /><br />&ldquo;It&rsquo;s complicated and I don&rsquo;t know everything yet myself.&rdquo;<br />Tobi spoke as he wiped the sweat from his brow. <br /><br />&ldquo;As the Mismi has taught us. A path unwalked is the hardest, but most rewarding.&rdquo; <br />The lead Delver spoke as he placed a supportive hand on Tobi&rsquo;s shoulder. <br />&ldquo;As Kin, you are welcome to return to the Garden anytime.&rdquo; <br /><br />&ldquo;Thank you.&rdquo; <br />Tobi said as he placed his hand over the Delver&rsquo;s in appreciation. <br />&ldquo;Blessings to you all but I must rest.&rdquo; <br />Tobi then said as he gave them a polite nod. <br /><br />Stepping away from the group he beat his wings and took off towards the sky.<br /><br />&ldquo;Did you see it as well?&rdquo;<br />A Delver to the left of the lead asked. <br /><br />&ldquo;The shape was different but it was surely a crown of some kind.&rdquo;<br />The lead Delver replied as he looked to the stars in thought. <br />&ldquo;We must report this to the Mismi.&rdquo; <br /><br />Tobi continued to fly high up into the sky above the library. He basked in the cold air and stiff breeze blowing past until his sore body felt refreshed and cool. For a while he lingered there before starting the trip back to Sally&rsquo;s house. It did not take long but his body was tired from the fight and his wings felt heavy. <br /><br />Once he arrived he passed through her bedroom window and crept to her large bed. <br /><br />Tobi laid down next to her, his body phasing through the covers but resting against the mattress. He closed his eyes. Her comforting smell and the warmth of her body aided him in falling into a deep and restful sleep. </span>",
