"writing": "Sally had always been different. \nBorn mute and with several pieces of her mind befuddled with fog, her every action was slow and confusing. It had taken her years to be able to stand up for the first time, and even longer to properly walk. Once she had learned however she became quite active and would happily skip, spin, jump and run around as if her energy was boundless. This was true to all of her capabilities. Incredibly slow to learn and prone to forgetting the more intellectual details but quick to master otherwise. \n\nAs Sally got older they found that although her eyes worked fine, they had issues with focusing on the same spot. This led to her being quite clumsy and often misjudged the distance of things around her. Sally did not mind though and those around her found her stumblings to be quite cute too.\n\nDespite her complications her parents did all they could to make sure she lived a content and satisfying life, such as enrolling her into a smaller school on the edge of Pardon that handled those with difficulties. Every day they would hug her and tell her that she was loved for they knew she would easily forget given enough time. And when she unveiled her Esper abilities early on they sought out the best help they could find.\n\nIt turned out that her one singular gift with Esperation was the ability to see really, really good. She could see through anything, be it the walls of her house, or the clothes people wear. She could see above her, and below, and even behind her, however she could only see in a short radius around her. Anything too far into the distance simply ceased to be. Although this was impressive it did not help with her ability to concentrate on anything or even know where her own paws were treading. \n\nFor months her parents had to teach her how to walk all over again. It was not an easy road to take care of her but they did their best and for most of her childhood Sally did live comfortably. \n\nAs she began to reach puberty however things started to get more complicated. \nThe subjects at school, while trivial to a normal person, were beginning to reach the limits of what Sally could accomplish. Although people understood she had limitations that others did not, there were still expectations for her to mature and advance in some form. At the same time there were changes to the social environment she was used to. Instead of playful kids that liked to skip and dance around the playground there were now tweens wanting to get into more mature topics. \n\nMusic, video games, moves. All the other girls around her wanted to try hanging around boys more and going on sleepovers, trying dates and watching romances. To Sally it did not make any sense. Boys were boys, to her they had not changed much outside of now being taller. Although she did eventually begin to notice something different. Some wanted to hold her hand. Others tried to make conversation although she could not follow what exactly they were trying to say. It was around this time she also discovered kissing. It was short lived. Dozens of desperate boys all got their first kisses with her but they would never linger past that. \n\nBy her very nature, Sally was a mess. The difficulty in remembering and understanding led her to needing braces. Her long golden hair was never brushed enough and it stuck out in odd places. She smelled as well. Despite her parents best attempts to manage her hygiene she still had a faint scent like a pile of laundry half the time. This was simply because she had figured out there was a special little area under her skirt that felt nice to press on… It’s hard to smell good when you are dripping with teenage hormones and a fine mist of sweat for most of the day.\n\nThe worst of this was that everybody was aware of her actions. Teachers had to remind her not to touch that area when at school and her parents had to remind her when they were out in public. Sally tried to remember but she was simple and the good feeling it gave made her forget that it was bad to do. \n\nShe had never had a lot of friends as a kid but now, she had nobody. \n\nHer days were spent sitting around the school’s garden or laying on the grass as nobody would complain if she touched herself in those locations. Every so often she would head up to the playground and invite someone to play using the little electric noteboard hanging around her neck. She just wanted to skip and spin like she remembered when she was young but they had no interest in hanging around the smelly rabbit with her lopsided buck teeth and sweat stained dress. \n\nSally took no offence to this. She could not remember the bad words long enough for it to hurt. \n\nAnd then, one day, something happened. She was sitting in the gardens eating a banana loudly and sloppily when she saw something flit through the air. It was a shimmer like sunlight reflecting off a deep blue silk. Sally tried to turn her eyes to it and see what it was but she could only make out the slightest little flicker of something there, and not there, at the same time. \n\nCurious about this odd illusion she tried to follow it but after heading across the garden it vanished through a brick wall. Sally placed her banana spattered hand on that wall and continued to stare through it until the bell rang. Even so the strange glimpse of blue didn’t return to her. \n\nThe next day however she saw it again. Once more in the garden, around the same time. A small glimpse of blue that came from one wall and flowed through the air before slipping through the other wall. Increasingly curious about this little glimpse of blue she began to keep her eyes open for it around school. It was rare outside of the garden but every so often she did catch sight of it floating past her locker or drifting past the classroom windows. Eventually the teachers would ask her what she was looking at or chasing after but they could not see the dancing blue light. Even other Espers in the school could not see it. \n\nDay by day she would follow the blue. Every day she would wait in the gardens for it to appear. And every day she would begin to chase and dance around it when it did. She could not explain it but there was something playful to the blue. The more she danced near it the more it seemed to dance back. \n\nIt quickly became a game to seek out her glimpse of blue and chase it across the school. Sally did not care how strange she looked chasing after the wind and getting excited over nothing. The glimpse of blue was hers and she loved the joy it brought her. One day though something even more strange happened. As Sally was making her way from one class to another, she forgot which direction her locker was. This tended to happen every so often and it usually meant becoming late for class. Before she could wander off and get lost however the glimpse of blue appeared. Getting distracted easily she decided to play and chase after her friend instead. And as she did so, she found herself following it all the way to her locker. It even playfully spun in the air before passing through the metal door, as if to further tell her which one belonged to her. \n\nUp until then Sally had thought the glimpse as some kind of butterfly or perhaps a natural thing like a leaf caught in the wind but now she knew in her heart that it really was her friend. It clearly liked her and its actions now seemed all the more intentional. Sally could not help but blush and go soft at the thought of something taking such interest in her.\n\nIt was around that time that Sally finally began to notice that it had been helping her in a lot of other places. The chases she gave across the school were purposeful and the glimpse would always end the journey in the place she had to go next. Her homeroom, the cafeteria, her next class, it always knew where to go and when. The only time it was not helping her in some way was when they were in the gardens. But even then, the playful way it spun through her gold hair and danced around her legs as she tried to catch it did help her to unwind from the stress of her ever increasingly difficult subjects. \n\nSally was content for a while. But then, one day her glimpse of blue suddenly vanished. \nShe looked over all the gardens for her little piece of blue, she walked the hallways and looked into every bathroom she could find but there was nothing. The next day as well was nothing. And the day after that. Deep within her Sally felt a sadness. One that was not so easily forgotten, one that lingered and hurt. She had never known such a painfully empty feeling before. \n\nHer parents could tell that she was upset and although they did not know why they still tried to cheer her up all the same. They made her favourite food, and she watched cartoons with ice cream all cuddled up on the sofa but it did not fill the emptiness inside of her.\n\nUnsure how to deal with this feeling Sally decided to retreat to her bedroom. It was the one place after all where she felt the most comfortable. After getting changed into her favourite T-shirt she placed her noteboard on the bedside next to the lamp and got into bed. \n\nSally loved her T-shirt.\nIt was oversized, stretched out, worn thin and stained in some areas but it felt as comfortable as her own fur. Once she had buried herself into the blankets she clutched a pillow to her chest and began to press her fingers between her legs. The pleasant feeling was just enough to distract from the hole in her heart but it did not feel right. \n\nSally sighed. \nShe groaned and whined and flailed her limbs until her hair was a mess. \nShe hated this feeling. \n\nSally rolled over and as she stared up to the ceiling above her, that is when she saw it. In the darkness of her room was a flicker of blue. It was much easier to see in the dim light and due to this she could now see that there was more of a shape to it. Crawling down to the foot of her bed she squinted and was certain she could just about make out… The thin and incomplete silhouette of a head and shoulders. A person? \n\nShe reached out to her new azure friend. And the blue reached back. \n\nAs they touched there was a crackle of deep blue electricity. It rustled Sally’s fur and ran down her body so sweetly that it took her breath away. The electricity danced on her bones as if it was alive. It ran through her blood before striking the fog in her mind and imbuing it with power. Sally noticed a change right away as, while the effect was not perfect, she could remember things clearly for the first time in her life… Such as yesterday and the food that she had eaten. The taste of her favourite bananas, the comforting smell of the sofa, the pain of the words other girls had said to her. Even that she savoured. Sally had never known such clarity. It was still not as good as the average person but it was a world of difference when compared to her old self. \n\nAs her eyes settled as well the glimpse of blue began to become more defined. It was no longer the distant reflection of something seen on the other side of a mirror. She could see wings, and pick out white in between the cerulean outline. Rubbing her eyes she watched as her glimpse of blue filled in and became a young winged rabbit around her own age. His fur a glowing white and his eyes a beautiful burning blue. He was mostly naked save for a see-through shawl tied around his waist and some shaped beads around his neck. She could feel a warmth radiating from him as well. \n\nHer glimpse of blue was a boy. A cute boy. A cute boy that was hovering at the foot of her bed.\n\nSally smiled at him and all at once his stone-like expression cracked into warmth. \nHe spoke and although Sally could notice that his tongue was a funny shade of blue, she could not hear his words. Confused, she rubbed her ears and tilted her head at him with interest. He seemed to understand what she was gesturing. \n\nThe winged boy moved forward and stepped onto the bed. It did not shift, as if he was weightless. He looked around the room and closed his eyes in concentration. Suddenly everything electrical flickered on and off, the computer, the lamp, the main light, it all stuttered as the radio let out garbled and distorted noises. She could smell rain in the air and that warm scent that followed a lightning strike. Sally giggled at the chaos but was interrupted as it all suddenly went quiet. A second later and her parents opened the bedroom door. \n\n“Are you alright?” They asked. \n\nSally looked at the winged boy as he stepped off the bed and walked through the air. Her parents could not see him. Nodding at her parents she took up her noteboard to properly reply.\n“Could not sleep. Sorry~” \n\nThey were not angry and told her to try counting sheep. And that if she needed them they would be just down stairs. Sally gave him a smile and a nod and they left. Letting out a sigh at not being in trouble she turned her attention to the winged boy. \n\nAs she turned her head however she found herself nose to nose with him. Being so close she could easily make out that he really did smell like sweet rain. He turned his gaze down to the electric noteboard in her hands. Reaching out to it his face turned to that of concentration again before smiling. Sally’s writing on the device vanished and new words began to appear out of nowhere. \n\n“You smell pleasant.”\n\nSally smiled wider than ever. She felt like crying although she did not know why. \nThe writing vanished and new words began to appear.\n\n“How can you see me? Even Espers can not see my kind.”\n\nUnder his words Sally replied. \n\n“Dunno. You smell good!” \n\nThe boy sat down on her bed. Although it did not shift at all, he was clearly sitting on it. His hands and butt touching the fabric and yet not clipping through it in any form. \n\n“What are you?” He asked.\n\n“Sally. Your wings are pretty.” She replied. \n\n“Blessings to you Sally.” He replied in turn. \n“I’m Ismi.” He then wrote. \n\n“Silly name. Sounds fun!” She told him.\n\n“It’s not a name, it’s what I am.” He explained. \n\n“Oh. I’mma bunny! Sally is my name, what is yours?” She wrote. \n\nThe Ismi boy paused at this. After a moment he began to write.\n“What would you call me?” He asked. \n\nSally hummed in thought. She looked around the room and searched through her thoughts. \nAfter a moment or two she began to write. \n\n“Tobi! Like my teddy.” Sally replied. \nShe grabbed the small bear from near her pillows and handed it out to him. \nTobi reached out to the bear and traced his fingers along it. The fur was well worn and the bear was clearly loved. As his fingers passed through the bear they brushed against Sally’s hand. She felt a single tingle where they stroked her. A warm and pleasant feeling although much, much, weaker than the shock that had altered the fog within her mind. Withdrawing his hand, he looked at the device. \n\n“That’s a pleasant name.” He told her. \n\nSally smiled sweetly at him once more. \nShe brushed her hair from her face and began to write. \n\n“What is an Ismi?” She asked. \n\n“We are spirits. We watch the other side and protect your kind against spirits that may wish you harm. We’ve never been seen by your kind directly but some of us do communicate with your leaders and thinkers.” \n\nHe traced a finger along her chin, and Sally giggled at the warm tingling sensation it left. \n\n“What’s the other side?”\nShe asked him innocently. \n\n“It’s complicated.” \nHe said with an understanding smile. \n\nShe nodded at him. Sally was used to things being confusing. \n\n“It’s very nice to meet you.” He then wrote. \n\n“Very nice.” Sally repeated. \n\nShe nudged closer to him. The warmth radiating from his cerulean light felt pleasant against her body. Together they would sit and write back and forth for most of the night. She would ask him simple questions like what his favourite food was or if he liked to listen to music. And he would repeat, he was a spirit. He does not need food, or air, or water or even light to exist although… Like other spirits, his kind did need to feed on the emotions of others for strength. Such things were done politely and in agreement with the leaders of the world, that the Ismi would only take the overflowing excess and no more from an individual. In turn they would protect the people unseen and help bring them joy. \n\nThis partnership led to the creation of the Outernet, where websites, videos, computer games, all allowed people to become more connected and happier, and in turn allowed the Ismi to more easily feed on those who used it. A fair trade but one still closely regulated on both the living and spiritual sides. \n\nThey continued to talk until Sally got too tired to even sit upright. Eventually she laid down and went to sleep but even so Tobi remained. He stayed near her. Sitting on the foot of her bed like a cosy night light. \n\nCome morning however she found him gone again.\nDespite his absence, the fog within her mind was still altered. Now able to at least remember her parents advice she got out of bed and began to brush her hair. She washed her face and brushed her teeth before taking a shower. As she was drying off she realised that she had done everything backwards. Face washing to wake up, breakfast next, then brushing her teeth followed by a proper shower. Brushing her hair again she got dressed in her favourite little pink dress and then headed down stairs to find her parents looking at her oddly. \n\n“Someone’s on the ball today.” Her mother said. \n\n“Must be an up day.” Her father replied happily.\n\nSally nodded at them in agreement. She did feel up. Whatever that meant. \n\nDespite her improved clarity the morning went as usual. Half of her breakfast ended up stuck all around her mouth which meant she had to go wash her face for a second time. Getting confused on how much cleaning she needed she ended up undressing, taking another shower, and brushing her teeth quickly for a second time. By the time she had finished getting the ‘basics’ done it was time to leave.\n\nSally did not mind losing her cartoon time though. More than anything she looked forward to school and to lunch time where she just knew that Tobi would meet her again. Just picturing it made the warm feeling in her chest grow hotter. The cold emptiness from yesterday was already forgotten. ",
"writing_bbcode_parsed": "<span style='word-wrap: break-word;'>Sally had always been different. <br />Born mute and with several pieces of her mind befuddled with fog, her every action was slow and confusing. <br /><br />As Sally got older they found that although her eyes worked fine, they had issues with focusing on the same spot. This led to her being quite clumsy and often misjudged the distance of things around her. Sally did not mind though and those around her found her stumblings to be quite cute too.<br /><br />Despite her complications her parents did all they could to make sure she lived a content and satisfying life, such as enrolling her into a smaller school on the edge of Pardon that handled those with difficulties. Every day they would hug her and tell her that she was loved for they knew she would easily forget given enough time. And when she unveiled her Esper abilities early on they sought out the best help they could find.<br /><br />It turned out that her one singular gift with Esperation was the ability to see really, really good. <br /><br />For months her parents had to teach her how to walk all over again. It was not an easy road to take care of her but they did their best and for most of her childhood Sally did live comfortably. <br /><br />As she began to reach puberty however things started to get more complicated. <br />The subjects at school, while trivial to a normal person, were beginning to reach the limits of what Sally could accomplish. Although people understood she had limitations that others did not, there were still expectations for her to mature and advance in some form. At the same time there were changes to the social environment she was used to. Instead of playful kids that liked to skip and dance around the playground there were now tweens wanting to get into more mature topics. <br /><br />Music, video games, moves. <br /><br />By her very nature, Sally was a mess. The difficulty in remembering and understanding led her to needing braces. Her long golden hair was never brushed enough and it stuck out in odd places. She smelled as well. Despite her parents best attempts to manage her hygiene she still had a faint scent like a pile of laundry half the time.
