A lone Tobi-Kadachi prowled these overgrown grounds. The early morning dew, misty environment was a perfect local for the reptilian creature. \n\nHe crept his way through the grass, tunneling and uneven terrain. Keeping his stance low; he attempted to keep his presence unknown to any potentially sleeping Monsters in the darkness. This Tobi-Kadachi was of no fearful sort. He was very aware of his place in the world. Not the most meager of Monster, but not keeping any of the power of an Elder Dragon. \n\nThis flourishing land had been his home since he was a little Shocky Flying Spark. He knew his way around. Every secret tunnel, every natural cavern. As well as the normal, safer routes. Letting him scurry away from any danger if needed. \n\nDespite the semi-dark trance of the Fanged Wyvern, he didn't slow on his mission. What was he risking a nighttime jaunt for? \n\nThirsty…the Monster was thirsty. Despite having never been to a desert, his throat felt like a proper one! \n\nLucky for the Tobi, he indeed knew where he was going. From his upper resting point; he went down. There was a massively fallen and mossy tree that he gracefully slid down to reach the lower lake much faster than a normal route would lead him. \n\nThe Tobi slid down that upper portion of the tree and landed perfectly on the stone walkway. He sighed a little as he glanced into the shrubbery of flora. There was at least another tunnel till he arrived at the lake he had in mind. \n\nSo far, he hasn't run into any problems. Despite this, he was careful, mindful, and weary of any possibility. The last thing he wanted was to be jumped by a Rathalos. For what, a drink? \n\nElrick, looking both ways through a forked path of a cavern. He crept through this darkness, departing what his gut was telling him. He took the rightmost path. He knew of Jagras den that followed this path. They were…usually peaceful. The little ones were a slight pest, but it couldn't be helped. \n\nThese tunnels of various shrooms and mining spots were rich in natural resources. Elrick never understood the fascination that Hunters had with the natural wealth of the land. \n\nElrick took the time to stop in the large tunnel. He tilted his head at a large red crystal. He didn't remember them being around until recently. It was then, staring at his reflection in the crystal. He figured out a revelation. \n\n“These red crystals didn't appear till all the Elder Dragons migrated..” he murmured. Staring at his own eyes through the various. Thought after thought filled his mind. \n\n“You notice it too, then?” said a voice from the darkness. \n\nElrick instantly turned around and readied himself for a fight, sparking his back hairs and growling. “Who’s there!? How long have you been creeping on me?” he demanded. \n\nIt was met with a small chuckle, a Great Jagras peered from behind the darkness. “Don’t worry, dearest Spark. I mean you no harm. I only noticed you pondering the crystal. My children are yet still asleep.” She said softly as she approached the still-skeptical Tobi-Kadachi. \n\n“Why are you skulking through this dark tunnel so early in the day?” he asked the Jagras, loosening his fighting stance. \n\nShe only smiled. “I could ask you the same, dear. I am merely restless, that is all. We smaller Monsters must stick together, no?” \n\nElrick grumbled, backing up from the Jagras. “I am thirsty tonight. What can I say?” \n\nThe Jagras laughed. “You risk your life for a drink? I understand that. I assume you know the way to the lake?”\n\nThe Tobi nodded, “Yes, I am familiar with the route. We've never met? I swear I've seen a Jagras like yourself a couple of times…” he trailed on, looking at the Jagras more closely. \n\nShe then shook her head. “We may have seen each other. But never met till now.” She turned over and looked at the large red crystal. “These crystals. They are strange, are they not? Their malicious red allure. Their alignment with the Elder’s crossing. They are surely connected?”\n\nAlrick just pondered, approaching the other side of the crystal. “I have wondered where or why they are here. I only figured out now that they coincide with the Elder Dragon’s arrival. I mean, those blue outcrops we had were natural for as long as I could remember. These?” he reached out a paw and grazed his pads across it, feeling it thoroughly; tapping it. “This is an unnatural occurrence.” \n\n“That’s quite the thing to consider. I've kept you from your drink long enough. Be careful! I saw some spikes earlier. An Elder is trying to make their claim on our land,” she warned. \n\n“Thank you, Miss Jagras. I will pass back through this tunnel when I return, is that okay?” he asked as he turned his back to her. \n\nShe gave a nod. “Yes, that is okay. I will keep my children from nibbling your toes,” she laughed. \n\nElrick couldn't help but laugh. “I'm sure they are just playing. Little Monsters stick together, right? I'll see if I can't do anything about those spikes.”\n\nHe pressed on, leaving the Jagras to herself. Elrick was happy to find a friendly place in this newly formed hospitable land since the Elder migration. Luckily, he never encountered one to an unpleasant degree himself. \n\nSpikes, spikes…Elrick thought for a moment. What big, bad Monster could they be from? He had only seen so few Elders in his time. Mainly rumor and terror tales. He shivered, fearful of what he might find. Surely he can't back out now? He promised that sweet Jagras that he would try. \n\nElrick peered over the upper platform he found himself on. The dimly lit ceiling of this cave held his prize. The lake his parched throat sought. \n\nThe Tobi only glanced around for a moment. With his succulent prize so close in view; he was less careful than he should have been. With his quick scan of the beautifully laid-out interior lake, Elrick prowled his way down. Carefully looking left and right like he was looking for something specific. Not any signs of spikes yet. \n\nElrick shoved his head into the crystal clear water. It was so clean, untouched by the destruction of the Elder Dragon's movements. It's not like this lake was particularly hidden! It was inside a cavern, certainly, but-\n\nThe Tobi-Kadachi didn't even have a moment to think any further. Suddenly, he heard a rustling in the brush behind him. Before Elrick could even turn around; he was shoved into the water with a nasty force! Like something had tackled him from behind! \n\nThe electric Monster was smashed into the water with a wave of downward motion. Elrick was shoved so hard that he fully submerged for multiple seconds. The water was cool and welcoming to the Monster. But he had to figure out who just shoved him! Not enjoy the relaxation of the lake. \n\nUsing his wing-like membranes upon his arms, he swam himself right back up to the surface without issue. Making sure not to conduct any electricity on himself as he did. Despite being an external and internal battery, the water did not directly hurt the Tobi-Kadachi. \n\nSwimming to the edge of the rocky lake shore, he kept himself mostly submerged. Breathing steadily, he was in hunt mode. Glaring his way across the entire cavern. Looking for any sign of his would-be assaulter. Much to his dismay, he spotted nothing odd from his position. \n\nElrick hoisted himself out of the water quickly and shook himself free from the soakage that clung to his body. Keeping his guard up the entire time. He was going to let this water shoving go unpunished! \n\nOnce he felt and saw the coast was clear enough, he investigated the area where he was pushed from. Clearly, whatever did it was fast. He…didn't fall in on his own, right?\n\nElrick considered if he wasn't pushed at all and this was just a fantastic case of him slipping and trying to avoid the embarrassment of the whole ordeal. He retraced his steps exactly to where he took a drink. No footprints. \n\n“There is no way!” he exclaimed quietly from his position. Taking the time to act like he was taking a drink. Leaning his head down into the water. Rather than focus on the drink, however, he watched the reflection behind him. \n\nElrick made this as convincing as possible. Even pushing his snout back into the lake. It took a little time, but the perp showed their scaly mug once again! \n\nHe couldn't quite tell what it was from the warped look of the reflection. But he saw them creeping from behind. Waiting, and waiting for the right moment. Elrick was patient and ready. \n\nThe Tobi-Kadachi turned around the moment the creature leaped at them once more. Rearing onto his hind legs; he braced himself to catch and guard against the Monster in his pounce. \n\nThe moment Elrick turned around, his confidence crumbled. It wasn't just any ordinary Monster. It was... Nergigante, the Elder Eater! \n\nElrick stood his ground, however. Grabbing the Nergigante at his shoulders in the pounce and deflected all the force he could muster. His hind paws dug into the ground from such strength. Tilting his entire body to the side, Elrick shifted his entire form and chucked the Nergigante to the side, splashing it into the lake this time! \n\nElrick took a moment to look at his paws, amazed that he just did that! The raw instinct that coursed through him was palpable. He debated running but, with confidence surging, he glanced into the lake. The dark depths showed no sign of the Spiky Elder. \n\nThere was no way this Nergigante couldn't swim. Elrick wished the Elder Dragon no harm. It's not like the Nergigante tried to kill him…he didn't think, at least. \n\n“Hey!” Elrick called out. “Are you alright?” Despite knowing they were supposed to be enemies, Elrick still didn't want to just leave the Dragon to such an unfortunate demise. \n\nEldrick grew a little more concerned while he watched the surprisingly steady water. He stayed away from the edge, just to be safe. He had worried the Elder Dragon couldn't swim, could you imagine? \n\nHe only heard a grumbling from beneath the water. A pair of large horns emerged from the liquid depths of the lake. He couldn't see the eyes of the Nergigante but felt the glare all the same. \n\nThe Spiky Monster fully surfaced his head and growled at the Tobi-Kadachi. “I can't believe I've been bested by a lesser Monster,” he said insultingly at Elrick. \n\nDespite the disdain in Nergigante's voice echoing throughout the cavern, he was relieved, but Elrick stood his ground. “I can't believe an Elder Dragon only shoved me into the water!” he pranced to the edge of the water, swaying his voluptuous tail just out of reach of the water. “I really would have expected worse from one of your ilk!” He watched the Nergigante carefully. He was weary of any moment that would allow him to send any flying spikes his way. That would be devastating for his softer hide. \n\nThis only seemed to heighten the Nergigante’s frustration. “I was here first! You're intruding, I claim this lake as-” \n\nElrick interrupted the Elder with a softer roar at the audacity of this Dragon! “Wait, wait, wait. You are telling me? That this lake is now yours? No, no, I don't think it is! This is one of the last safe watering holes for Monsters like me. You don't get to just claim it as your own!” \n\nNergigante just snorted in the water, using his wings to propel himself forward to land. “Are you willing to die for it?” he threatened. Grabbing the edge of the stone platform. \n\nThat's all it took for Elrick to prone himself down, ready to strike. “You’re damn right I am!” he growled out with such ferocity.\n\nThe Nergigante admired the defiance of this lesser Monster. Standing up to him like this. Oh, ho! Maybe he could serve better use than a bone pile around this lake? The Nergigante thought. \n\nNot defeatedly, but he grumbled as he left the lake. “Listen here, Tobi-Kadachi. Clearly you are far superior to most of your kind,” the Nergigante complimented. “How about we call it a stalemate and both agree to disagree? I didn't come here looking for trouble. You were just so perfect to go for a splash. I couldn't help myself. I apologize.” \n\nElrick was absolutely taken aback from this apology! “Yo-you just pushed me in the water for no reason and then threatened me. Now you are apologizing!?. Are you okay in the head, Nergigante? I wasn't aware you were an insane species!” Elrick glanced the smaller Nergigante up and down while he was drenched in water. His scales glistened from the shimmer of water that had a certain allure. \n\nHe only chuckled at Elrick. “I am Gravox, as you surmised, a Nergigante. Let's make peace here, eh? We'll be out of each other's scales before you know it.” \n\n“Fine! I didn't want a fight. But now, Gravox, I will not allow you to claim this watering hole. I've lived here all my life. In this Forest. You best pick somewhere else.” \n\nThe Elder only smiled at this punk of a Tobi-Kadachi! Such fire within him! “I didn't catch your name in all that,” he teased. \n\nHe just grumbled. “It's Elrick. What now, Elder Dragon? You say you don't want to fight, why are you here?”\n\nGravox just sat upon his haunches in front of the Fanged Wyvern, picking at his fangs with a talon as he spoke. “Ah was kecked oota ma'home,” he removed a talon from his maw and continued. “It seemed the other Dragons were not fond of my smaller size. Said I belonged better amongst your kind. No offense.” \n\nThis Elder nearly flipped entirely! Elrick was so confused. “So, you aren't invading. You just have nowhere else to go?” He approached the Elder. Only looking at his smaller size. Seeing him up close answered much of his curiosity. \n\nThe Elder nodded. “That is correct. My kind forsake me. I am alone now. I came here because it was easy to migrate from the Recess. The weather is nice. The flora allows for plenty of hiding and food. I truly mean no harm. I'm just trying to keep a tough facade so I don't get bullied anymore,” he looked away from Elrick. It was a shameful and hurt display. \n\nElrick only drew closer to the Elder Dragon. “I am sorry that happened to you. But you don't need to act tough here. The fact you made it this far shows you're tough enough, right? Plenty of other Monsters here would help house, feed and shelter you. This is a Forest of kindness, and danger.” He chuckled. \n\nGravox couldn't help but give a toothy grin at Elrick's words. “You're too kind. I pushed you into the water because I was hoping to scare you away, but…it seems I picked on the wrong Spark,” he teased with his tongue out at the Tobi-Kadachi. \n\nElrick laughed for a moment at his comment before soberly saying. “There aren't many of me left…” \n\n“Wh-why is that?” Gravox asked with concern.\n\nElrick took his turn to look away from the Elder's gaze. “My hair, along my back and head. Hunters, you see. It's highly conductible, and-”\n\nGravox stopped Elrick there. “No need to continue, Elrick,” he said, bursting the spikes from his back and elbows, pointing to them. “I am hunted for these, and my scales.” \n\n“It seems we should work together to survive. We suffer the same.” Elrick suggested. \n\nHe only shook his head. “No one wants a Nergigante of my size. Look at me! I'm as small as you!” \n\nElrick reared up on his own haunches in front of Gravox. “Hey, I'm not that small!” He exclaimed trying to make himself larger than the Elder to no avail. They truly were comparable in height. \n\n“See?” Gravox smiled, admiring the Tobi-Kadachi in front of him a little. “Who is going to want an Elder of my size? Hunters aren't even interested in me…” \n\n“What if I want you?” Elrick said, meeting the Elder's bright yellow eyes with his own ruby red. \n\n“Elrick, I…you don't mean-”\n\nThe Tobi-Kadachi only smiled, rattling his tail and saying. “It can mean whatever you want it to.” With a cheeky smile. \n\n“W-we just met!” The Nergigante protested. \n\n“Nonsense!” Elrick explained. “Look at us both. Outcasts in our own regards. Why not embrace that, and embrace each other?”\n\nGravox only exclaimed. “You dirty Wyvern!” \n\nThis only caused Elrick to chuckle. “I have my moments. You aren't saying no?” He inquired. \n\nWith a defeated sigh, the Elder relented. “Okay, Elrick. You're right. I just,” he blushed a little under his scales. “It's been a while, you understand?”\n\nElrick nearly burst in electric excitement! “All the better, dear, Elder!” He said with a firm pounce on the Dragon! Pushing him onto his back and standing over top of him.\n\nThe Tobi-Kadachi loomed over the Elder Dragon, staring him right in his race. “Assuming you don't mind being topped by such a Lesser Monster!” he teased enthusiastically. \n\n“Ohh, Elrick, ho-hold on.” Gravox stared between the body of the Tobi-Kadachi. “You are aware I am male, yes? I just…don't want you to be surprised.” \n\nElrick only smiled down at the Nergigante. “You sweet thing,” he said; booping the snout of the Elder Dragon with his talon. “I would prefer you to be male! You can't tell me that this had been mistaken before? Despite your size, you're quite masculine~” he complemented, not hiding his glance down the Elder Dragon's body between his own. Elrick only stood above the Nergigante still. Their bodies didn't actually make contact yet. Aside from an alignment of paws and legs. \n\nGravox only laid his head back and huffed out. “I-I have had a time or two where I was mistaken, yes. It was quickly remedied, of course. But being mistaken for a female feels wrong. Just because of my smaller frame.”\n\n“I'm sure there are more qualities that cause you to be perceived as a female beyond your size.” Alrick chuckled, adjusting his tail and hindlegs to stand upon Gravox's body. \n\nThe Tobi-Kadachi used his right hind paw. His dexterous attention grazed across the Elder Dragon's slit between his legs.
