"description": "The Cards had been a part of her life for longer than she could remember. From the day she was old enough to learn how to use them, her Grandfather Sheil taught her dutifully what they meant, and how they tied into her place in the world.\n\nRecently having been ostracized from the Collegiate for her radical views on Direct Resonance, and an incident in which she accidentally summoned a Creature called the Burning Witness, the young Scavenger set off on her own, but she had no idea that the world would be so dangerous. Constant attacks from assassins and mercenaries looking to catch the bounty on her head left her no home and no safe place to rest. Living instead only by the path her cards told her.\n\nTen of Swords this morning.\n\nRhonif had used the cards for so long they were simply a part of her, guiding her on adventures and taking her wherever she really needed to go. And today, their true power would be revealed as she found herself once more calling upon their power. She drew the Sun, the Tower, and Death. Imbued with the magic of her Soul, this trick would hit its target. Her robes flew around her as she leapt backwards through the air away from her new Assailant, a Slamdancer sent by the Trials guild, swinging their sword just out of reach, her cards now thrown, flying at them with a terrible speed, wreathed in the purple fire of her spirit.\nHer attacker was not expecting such an attack. The cards struck him square in his chest, causing him to fall back, clutching at his heart. In an instant he began to burn, screaming in agony, unable to move or do anything about it. Rhonif, still falling backwards, landed softly on the ground, running up behind his partner and putting her foot to his throat, pushing down hard until he stopped struggling. A few moments later the flames died down, leaving nothing but ashes where the man once stood. Rhonif stood there for a moment, panting heavily, trying to get her breath back. As she looked up, she saw another assassin coming down the road toward her.\n\n\"I'm just getting started,\" she whispered under her breath.\n\nShe drew the Lancer, the Bones, and the Hanged Man. With one quick movement she ran forward, and spears materialised around her enemy's throat. The third assassin fell instantly, twitching in pain.\n\n\"It looks like I've got some work cut out for me.\" She walked over to the bodies of the first two assailants and examined their belongings. \"Now I know why they call you 'the Trial'.\" She picked up the two swords, placing them carefully inside her bag.\n\n\"Well, let's see if we can't find somewhere to hide for a while.
