š¾ Ah, yes. This song. Much can be said about this song. But I would rather not bore you with the level of detail I could tell about this song.
My first ever song with actual lyrics. Lyrics about someone. Yes, this song is about someone who used to be in my life and no longer is as we went our separate ways. And, though I do still miss her, our parting shaped who I am today and I am proud to be with the man I am with now.
The earliest version of this song I happened to come across recently was almost 10 years ago. I don't actually think any version that old is still up. This song has gone through so many different iterations and so much trauma and depression that even this version itself had to be recreated from scratch because the file I was working on was broken for some reason, so in an effort to not lose all that progress on some fatal crash, I just restarted the project yet again. This song, if you have been reading these descriptions for the rest of the songs on this album, you might gather was also initially created on my iPod Touch using Xewton Music Studio. I mean, I don't know what else to say. This song is old and means a lot to me. I've actually cried a few times listening to this song. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.
Also, I really admire "word painting" in music, so there's a bit of that in this song that wasn't there in previous iterations of this. Keep an eye out for those, if you know what those are! One instance, I would like to point out, when the line reads "That will always be a mystery", the key drops to a Phrygian mod to give it a more mysterious sound. Also, the deliberate spelling of "You'd've" in the line "You'd've broken it all in the same" emphasizes how broken the words are to make that contraction.
