One of my doodles from last semester!
This was one of my first drawings of Tiaret and Lokus! Lokus being the big crystal dragon, and Tiaret (aka Tia) being the tiny manticore on his shoulder. Their backstory is a little long, but in essence:
Lokus is a trader, both in the general market and the black market. He's crafty and sly, able to escape the law when they come racing down his trail. He's older, a charmer, but celibate due to the violent nature of coitus with his species. Years and years ago, he befriended a poor family of manticore. He would often watch after their youngest daughter, Tia, while the family went into the town he would often visit to work. Tia, only a small toddler at the time, charmed and betwitched the old dragon. A hoarder of rare items, he knew the value of a manticore, especially one so young. So one day, he offered to buy Tia from the family in order to help them get out of debt. In exchange, he would let the family pay him back, no interest, as they could afford it. They hesitantly agreed.
And the next day, Lokus was gone. Stall and all, along with their precious little daughter.
Years later, Lokus has groomed Tia to become a shop keep like himself. Her ability to find gems and other precious items has helped his inventory and his money grow. She's still in training, but is content working at her master's side. Lokus keeps her close, a quiet voice in the back of his mind always whispering about the possibility of her family finding them. And if you encounter an enraged manticore...few ever make it out alive.
