She was so excited about going to the Halloween party and was supposed to meet her sisters there, as they had already left to meet their friends to do some trick-or-treating on the way. Unfortunately, just before Tabitha was to leave and meet her friend, she called and said she was sick and had to stay home.
Tabitha did not want to stay home and miss the party too; so, she asked her parents if she could go it alone. As the party was in their neighborhood and only 3 blocks away, her parents agreed it was okay, as long as she went straight there. Tabitha then begged to be allowed to stop at the houses on the way for some trick-or-treating. "Besides," she said, "I want to get enough to share with Fiadh as she can't go out tonight." Her parents gave in to this as they were proud that their little girl was thinking of her sick friend and agreed she could.
Tabitha left home and took her time, knowing that her other sisters would not be at the party any time soon. She stopped a lots of houses but her bucket was only half full by the time she got to the block the party was on. But when she got there, it did not look right. Though the house was well decorated for a Halloween party, there were no cubs, only a few adults coming and going. But she could hear Halloween music, so thinking she was early she went up to the door and knocked. As a wolf answered the door, the lyrics from the radio could clearly be heard...

He took one look at the cub and stepped back to get the candy bowl. Taking that as an invitation to come in, Tabitha followed him inside, looking at all the adults in costume dancing to the music and talking. "Where are the other cubs at, am I early," she asked.
Surprised to see the girl follow him in and catching on real quick that the cub had come to the wrong house the wolf smiled at her and said, "You got the wrong house, sweetie. I think the one you want is 1313A, this is 1313B. You're a block too far over. Tabitha looked a little embarrassed and started to tear up. ``No need to cry, you're not that far off," the wolf said. By now a few other party goers were eyeing the little girl in her cute witches costume.
"I know," Tabitha sniffed, "It's just I was hoping to collect more candy than this for a sick friend, but now I will be late and I bet most of the candy will be gone."
"She held me spellbound in the night
Dancing shadows and firelight
Crazy laughter in another room
And she drove herself to madness with a silver spoon"
"I'll give her all the candy she can handle," came a lewd comment from one of the other party goers followed by laughter then a few more chimed in. Tabitha began to smile. She thought she knew what they meant and was not opposed to trade. "You have to fill my bucket up with all your candy then if you want to play with me" she retorted. The wolf's scowl at his friends disappeared as he looked again at the cub and realized this was no sweet little angel, but a real witchy vixen ready to play.

"Well okay then, come on in and we'll play some "game" and fill more than just your bucket with candy..." The door closed behind them.

Tabitha never forgot this Halloween night for as long as she lived. She had the best times at both parties and she brought home more candy than her other four sisters combined, though she complained of a tummy ache the next day... too many "sweets".
