The story is by me. ", "writing": "School was over for the day and Evelyn was feeling down. It was her birthday, and it seemed no one remembered. She sighed, almost on the verge of tears when she couldn’t even find her friends after the last bell. So, not wanting to take the chance of running into any of her school bullies alone, she made a bee line for home. \n\nOnce far enough away from the school to feel safe from any prying eyes, the vixen broke down and aloud herself to cry. “Why… why did no one remember,” she said with a sob. Her tail wrapping around herself protectively as she squatted down next to a tree wanting to just hide away from it all. And she might have stayed there to if it wasn’t for a kind, elderly woman stopping and asking if she was okay. \n\nHating this, being caught being so emotional only frustrated the vixen even more. She stood, wiping her eyes, and thanked the woman for checking on her and made some excuse to quickly leave and ran the rest of the way home, berating herself for being seen like that. So upset she was, she didn’t even notice that the front door of her home was unlocked, even though she knew her mother wouldn’t be there. \n\nClosing the door, she leans against it feeling even a heavier weight settle in her chest knowing she may be home she was still all alone. Ready to cry again she straightened up and hurried to her room but as soon as she started to pass by the living room, its lights turned on and there was a shout of “Happy Birthday” and Evelyn screamed!\n\nThe poor girl was shaking like a jelly that was melting, slumping to the floor as half the people in the living-room either gasped or laughed, as the girls ran up to check on her. Evelyn looked about, still in shock. She saw several people there, there was Toby and Kiry, both looking worried for her, Luna, her hands over her mouth, Seb laughing as Nora, grinning playfully punched him in the shoulder and young Coco mischievously grinning. Claire and Collene were helping Evelyn back to her feet and Emma was already humming Happy Birthday to herself as she was lighting candles on a cake. Then there was Kara. Kara was laughing, all smiles at her and it made Evelyn’s knees feel all wobbly again, especially when the hyena girl came up to her and hugged her and even kissed some of Evelyn’s tears away. “Smile Birthday girl, we worked hard to keep this a secret from you,” she said with another laugh seeing the vixen’s face go even redder. \n\n“H-How,” she managed to say after a moment. Toby spoke up, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. “Well, its kind of my fault. I suggested we throw you a birthday party, and Nora said, “let’s make it a surprise party, and before we knew it, the girls were in, and Seb… eeee he—” Seb spoke up, “I swiped your house key an made a copy so we could get in,” he said proudly. “It was Kara that said it would be safe, and well… here we are.” Toby finished. \n\n“We’re sorry if we frightened you or made you feel lonely today,” Luna said as Emma came up with the cake. “Happy Birthday! I hope you’ve got enough breath left to blow out those candles. Don’t worry, we won’t judge if you need a break halfway through.\" Evelyn almost started to cry again, but this time they were tears of joy. She blew out the candles and the rest of the evening was spent enjoying the company of her friends. Then as all things do, the party came to an end. The boys helped clean up and all was put in order and in ones and twos everyone left until it was just Evelyn and Kara.
