Urd Excursion Rutri slowly flapped his wings, maintaining a steady pace, cool morning air drifting across his scales. The countryside sliding along below him slowly waking up, wildlife beginning to stir. Flying over a small meadow sent a half-dozen deer bouncing away from his shadow, but he didn’t notice. His attention was fully seized by the second urd flying in front of him. Odre had been a friend of his since their hatching. Urds were much more common within their tribe than most, which still did little to prevent the hard feelings towards them nearly all kobolds share. Sticking together has always been a good defense, making them a harder target for bullying. Odre and Rutri have always been nearly inseparable, side by side since they hatched. That was until they reached adulthood. They had been split apart during training, sent separate ways to learn to serve the tribe as scouts and messengers. A difficult time for all young kobolds and urds, learning some sort of skill that helps the tribe. That was what set them apart from so many of the other local bands of kobolds, they each had a role they were taught in. He and Odre had lucked out, scouts flew patrols and delivered small messages. An easy job, much better than being a dedicated rock dropper or personal transport. Neither had had the wingspan for that, though, Rutri might have kept his wings slightly narrowed when asked to spread them wide for the measurements. In any case, it didn’t matter now. They had completed their training and now had a job to do. Every morning it was up to them to fly around the small valley their tribe called home, searching for anything that would be of interest to them as well as keeping a lookout for danger. Not the most glamorous of jobs, but a very important one. In the past half year they had already directed hunters to better grounds, as well as warn of a couple bands of adventurers making their way across the valley. They did a good job, one they could be proud of, yet these thoughts drifted quickly through Rutri’s mind, unable to take his attention off Odre. She gracefully glided along in front of him, The morning sky just reaching its usual shade of blue as the sun's rays creep higher and higher illuminating her purple scales. Her usual assortment of beads, rings, and bands clicking and clattering in the wind. Most distracting of all, her loincloth drifting behind her. She never wore the full style that wrapped between the legs, always opting for the more freeing basic cloth that left her quite exposed to someone below her, or, now while flying, behind her. He always did his best to keep his eyes on the job, yet near the end or their circuit, when all was clear he couldn’t help drifting back and letting his gaze wander. Taking in the beautiful view as they flew back home. Today was no exception, finding him following close behind, eyes taking in her bright scales, and her soft slit. How he wanted to shove his face into her rump and show her first hand how much he cared for her… but that wouldn’t work. They had been friends far too long for that to be anything but awkward. No, she wouldn’t want that. So he had to just steal the view in the brief moments when he could. Brief they always were too. They soon found themselves landing on the mountain spire the scouts called home. Nothing to report, nothing to send them to the caves at the base where the rest of their tribe called home. Rutri, stretched his arms and legs, fluttering his wings as he folded them behind him. To his surprise, Odre walked up and put a hand on his shoulder, giving his cheek a quick kiss before leaning to whisper into his ear, “Don’t think I don’t know why you fly behind me.” His face, began to redden, his pale cream colored scales doing nothing to hide his blush. She gave his cheek another quick kiss, he was speechless, completely stunned as she walked away slowly. His stupor ended when she threw something at his face, flailing. He pulled the offending bit of cloth away… it was… her loincloth? Looking up she stood before him in a wide stance, hands on her hips, wings held half open, “I’m going to go bath, it was dusty today… you should join me.”
