"writing": " \nJarred strode in the park with purpose, glancing around at all those who were blissfully unaware.  Of course they didn't know.  None of them could know since only he could do the calculations.  There's not much time left.  He glanced at his watch and the illuminated timer was counting down.  Fourteen minutes and fifty-three seconds.  So little time left. \n \nIt doesn't matter.\n \nJarred ran his paws through the fur on his head.  He hadn't groomed himself in days, and for a sheepdog that meant he looked wild and frazzled.  His clothes were also wrinkled and mismatched, one collar was popped up haphazardly. A female otter happened to jog past him, offering a quick glance of contempt at his appearance before continuing on.  Jarred paid her little heed.  The weight of it all was on him.  The knowledge was too much.  Everything he had accomplished, indeed everything anyone had accomplished, didn't matter anymore.  It's all meaningless.  So what was the purpose of any of it? \n \nNone of it matters.\n \nWhy was he here? Not just here on this world, but here in this place?  This city park with people wasting what was left on such trivialities as fitness, fun, and other blind diversions?  Just so he wouldn't be alone when the time came?  There was a male tabby cat who was eating his lunch on a park bench.  Under a tree was a rotund female rat with her nose buried in some sleazy romance novel.  A slender billy-goat ewe was sitting cross-legged on a blanket spread out on the grass, playing with a toddler.  On the slide two goat kids climbed up to slide down, running back around to do it over and over.  The play set was occupied by an opossum pup testing her climbing ability on the overhead bars.  She dangled by her legs and her skirt fluttered about in the breeze, exposing her blue panties. \n \nIf none of it matters...\n \nJarred stepped off the walking path and headed toward the play set.  Without slowing down or saying a word he snagged the possum off the bars, tucking the cub under his arm, butt forward, and continued walking as if he had done nothing wrong. \n \n\"Hey!  Who?\" The young female sputtered.  Her head craned around in surprise as Jarred's tail swung in her face.  Her curly dark hair bobbed with each step Jarred made.  She pushed at him and struggled, kicking her legs.  \"Let me go!\"  She shrieked. \n \nJarred headed for a picnic table in the shade of the pavilion, which seemed as good a place as any.  He looked over and noticed the jogging otter had stopped and was staring at him with bewilderment. \n \n\"Someone help me!  I don't know this male!\"  The little possum shouted, attracting more attention.  Jarred looked down at the upturned ass under his arm and lifted the skirt.  Her prehensile tail reflexively wrapped around his wrist.  He noticed that the band of her panties were folded over, allowing him to read the name written inside: Pamela. \n \n\"Hello, Pamela\"  He said calmly as he patted her on the rump.  Reaching the picnic table he sat her down on top of it and looked in her scared, brown eyes.  \"My name is Jarred, so now we know each other.\" \n \n\"Hey, you!\" Someone called out.  Jarred turned and saw the tabby male approaching him.  He was soon joined by several other adults who were all looking increasingly aggressive.  \"That's not your cub. Leave her alone.\" \n \nJarred looked at his watch.  Twelve forty-two remaining.  \"Sorry, I don't have time for this.\"  He said simply as he reached into his pocket and withdrew a revolver.  Without another word pointed it at the tabby and pulled the trigger.  The bullet entered the agape mouth of the cat and exited through the back of his neck, shattering the spine. He crumpled like a doll, all nine lives spent before even hitting the ground.  As the echo of the gunshot died the other adults decided that there was someplace else they needed to be.  Males, female, and cubs ran in all directions away from him.  He looked at the body on the ground, blood starting to slowly pool around the head.  He had never killed anyone before and it had been less impactful to him than he expected.  He felt weirdly empty and apathetic about it, but he didn't spend much time savoring the new experience.  He has something more interesting in mind to occupy his thoughts.\n \nHe turned back to Pamela and was initially confused to find her slumped back on the table, her eyes barely open and shivering uncontrollably.  His first thought was that somehow the bullet had ricocheted and hit her, but he realized it was merely a biological response of an opossum during a threat.  He set the gun on the table and leaned over the cub, brushing her hair away from her furry face.  She responded with a toothy grimace and a soft hiss.  What a wonderfully docile creature he had chosen.  He ran his paws over the front of her t-shirt, which had an image of a cartoon winged pony on the chest.  Jarred wasn't sure how old Pamela was, and she didn't seem to be in a state that allowed answering questions, but he guessed her to be around eight. \n \n(It's about at this point where I thought: \"This is rather brutal, isn't it?\" I don't suppose I'll finish it.)
