A few comments:

I greatly enjoyed my break.  Not because I got a lot of rest, I've been pretty busy.  But I got lots of practice in.  Drawing lots of other things, characters and subjects, trying stuff out, watching other artists, learning new techniques.  I think there's something really to be said of focusing intensely on one particular thing for months at a time, getting better and faster at that, and then going and doing something completely unrelated.  I guess that's cross training for you.
