I’I mean you’re right, but that makes us sound like girlfriends! Alexandra smiled cheekily, gently elbowing her friend's side. “Aw, what’s wrong with that? It’ll make our picture come out cuter! C’mon! Let’s do it really quick! Alexandra took the hand of a reluctant Sherry and pulled them both into the shallow part of the pool, the cold water causing Sherry to shiver just a bit. Alexandra whipped around and immediately struck a pose, with her fingers making a V shape in front of her face with a wink and a playful tongue sticking out. “All right everyone, shoo shoo! My daughter isn’t some feral zoo animal for you all to gawk at!” Alexandra's mother had come back suddenly, apparently failing in her chase, shooed off the rest of the stragglers with the haughty flick of her wrists, as if she were shooing away feral birds. We were just, talking to a new, uh, frien, and she just happened to give us money and-” Alexandra was immediately cut off with wit as sharp as a sword. “Well, it looks to ME like a transaction took place. Sherry’s mom cleared her throat and spoke gently, but with a firm tone. “C’mon, it’s the fault of the adults here not the children's! And you can keep that money she so graciously gave you.” Sherry sniffed and looked up at her mother with wet eyes. “Really?” Sherry’s mother held her hand up in a “let me finish” posture. “However, both of you girls are going to be taking our special “stranger danger” class every morning for two weeks.” “And take a test!” Alexandra’s mother chipped in. “And if you fail it, you’re going to have to take it over and ove again until you pass. Understood?” Both girls muttered “yes, mommies” and continued to get a lecture for ten minutes until Sherry’s mother announced that it’s time to get ready to go.
The mother’s held onto the cash as they shooed their daughters into the locker room showers, promising them they would get whatever they wanted with the money after the shower. “Here’s the shampoo, conditioner and body soap, remember to wash your pits and privates. Sherry's mother, Jenna, nodded in approval. “Okay, then! Make sure you two get squeaky clean! We’ll be in the shower two rows down, alright?” Both girls nodded silently as Jenna gave them both an encouraging smile and left them to their own devices in front of a small, just enough for two people shower room with a grungy shower head and scuffed up beige tiles. A sleek yet kinda ratty plastic shower curtain giving the shower privacy. Alexandra let out a huge sigh, flung open the shower curtain, and marched right in, a mopey Sherry following right behind her.
She dumped all of the bottles onto the floor and casually slipped off her swimsuit and slung it into the corner. “Hey Sherry, you gonna take off your swimsuit or not?” Sherry responded with a blunt “kay” and ripped her swimsuit off; fast her top and then the bottom, flinging the drilling swimsuit on top of Alexandra’s one piece. “Huh, are you doing okay? Are you mad about the stranger danger lessons we have to take. I mean, I don’t wanna do it either, but- “Sherry responded with a whiney groan as she undid her long braid. Her ruby eyes were still shining with tears. “No, it’s not that. I don’t wanna do the stranger danger class, but at least we’re not grounded.” She sniffed and went to tamper with the water, making sure not to stand under it. Alex moved to the side as well. “I’m sad because that lady was so nice and gave us money for us…ya…know…” she blushed a light pink and continued as the water started to come down in a spray, gradually warming up. “Kissing and stuff. I’I liked it! But I was just sad that we had to-had to...” “Had ta stop?” Alexandra had already slipped under the misting warm water, her face inches away from Sherry’s. “Ya, I'm pretty bummed out by that. We were doing so well too! We looked like the best girlfriends in the world!” Sherry’s face once again turned the color of a ripe tomato and gently shoved Alexandra in embarrassment. “A-Alexandra! You’re making it into a contest again!” Alexandra giggled and picked up the shampoo bottle and conditioner, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. “Well, we can still keep doing that stuff in here! But we gotta wash our hair first! I’ll do yours and you’ll do mine!”
Sherry sputtered an okay as the girls took turns scrubbing the bubbly-peach kangaroo shampoo in each other's hair.
