He didn't do super well in school but managed to scrape by and get his high school diploma. He learned basic carpentry skills from his dad growing up when he was young and seemed to have a knack for it, and became a licensed carpenter after high school. Working with his father for a few years he managed to buy a cheap piece of land and slowly built his own house over a few years, moving into his it around the age of 28. Around the age of 30, he met a woman and began dating her before marrying here two years later. After threes years of rocky marriage, they got divorced, with Garf stating that he simply was not happy and that he just wanted to be alone. In actuality, he had married out of a sense of custom rather than actually being in love, and concerns about his own sexuality were surfacing. Now 35, Garf is divorced and drinking heavily as he struggles with his own closed minded views of homosexuality that had been instilled in him from growing up in a close-minded community. At 36, in a particularly dark mindset, Garf goes on a day long drinking bender and is hospitalized for alcohol poisoning. Garf recovers and is then recommended a therapist and AA, which he begrudgingly agrees to. Now at 40, the years of therapy have slowly helped Garf to come to terms with himself and allows him to focus more on his work as a carpenter as well as exploring his newly accepted romantic interests. At 50, Garf had retired and had begun dating a man his age that he met online named Charlie. They have been going steady for about two years since meeting. \"\n\nCharlie\n\" Charlie was born to an upper middle class family and had a fairly easy childhood.
