As someone who spent the latter half of his childhood in the Nintendo 64 years, I've played some pretty spectacular games in my time. One of them being Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, a first-person-shooter where you play as a Native American who has been sucked into the mysterious Lost Land, and has to shoot down dinosaurs, robots, tribal warriors, aliens, and mutants in order to bring peace to the land.
I replayed the game on Steam a little while back, and you know what? It still really holds up. Tight controls, an emphasis on exploration, great music, fantastic weapons, and pretty damn challenging in the later stages. Granted, the story is as paper thin as you can get, but it's an early FPS, so what can you do?
