Spencer gave a relieved sigh as he stopped typing, taking a minute to rub his eyes. He had just finished a paper that was due for college and he was ready to relax. It had been a long semester for him, and he’d be lying if he didn’t think this semester was tough with what his professors loaded him up with. The skunk was thankfully almost done with this semester of college and was ready for the summer to come. He was excited for the beach, hanging out with his friends, and hopefully meeting some cute girls to call one his girlfriend. He was expecting a lot, but that was to be expected from the skunk who wanted a lot anyway. As Spencer was saving the essay, he just finished writing, he heard his phone ding. He looked back at his phone to see who texted him. It was his friend Randal, an Alolan Vulpix, who texted him. ‘Yo Spenny! You down to hang out for a while?’ Spencer read the text and thought for a moment. He had been working hard and hanging out with a friend he hadn’t seen in a while didn’t seem like a bad idea. ‘Sure. Did you have something in mind?’ ‘Just come over and we can chill dude’ A little while later, Spencer was walking to Randal’s home. He was carrying a regular book bag like he usually did when he went places. It usually held stuff such as his Switch, medicine, and other stuff which he may or may not need. Soon, Spencer arrived at Randal’s home. As he walked to the door, he looked up at the huge house before him. If Spencer didn’t know better, he’d argue Randal lived in royalty and would be lying if he said he wasn’t jealous of the life that Randal lived. Spencer shook his head to get the thought of jealousy out of his mind as walked up to the door and rang the doorbell, stepping back a bit after. Soon enough, Randal came and opened the door, smiling at his friend, “Took your time huh?” Randal said jokingly to which Spencer shrugged, “Hey, I like taking my time when it’s such a nice day out,” He said. “A geek like you enjoying the outside? I don’t believe it,” Randal said. “Like you’re so innocent,” Spencer replied with a small laugh. Randal gave a small smile as he moved aside, “Well, what are you waiting for? Come experience the inside of the Princeton Palace! Not many get to see the inside of this place… except maybe Raena’s ‘friends,’” Randal said. “I heard that!” A female voice yelled, to which Spencer guessed it was Randal’s sister Raena who he’d never properly met. Spencer walked in and looked around for a moment, “I don’t remember the last time I was at your house honestly…” Spencer admitted to Randal. “Well, that just means it’s been way too long, and we needed to chill. Come on, we can hook up your Switch to the living room TV,” Randal said, walking that way and letting Spencer follow him. When the two arrived in the living room, Spencer was in awe seeing the giant TV, making Spencer’s own TV back at his dorm room look mini in comparison. “Holy crap… now this is the way to play Smash Bros.,” He commented, putting his bag down and beginning to pull out both his Switch and the dock for the two to play on. Randal gave a grin, “I knew you wouldn’t be disappointed. Can I trust you to set us up while I get us some snacks and other stuff?” Randal asked. Spencer didn’t look back at Randal as he kept taking everything out, “Of course, I know what I’m doing after all. If not… well then I guess we’re both screwed huh?” Spencer replied as he took his Switch over and began to set everything up from behind the TV. Randal rolled his eyes with a smile as he walked into the kitchen to get the two snacks. Spencer continued to set everything up, a bit in his own world as he focused some to make sure he wouldn’t break anything. “Who the hell are you?” A voice would get him out of his concentration, causing him to almost hit his head. He looked away from what he was doing only to be greeted by female Alolan Vulpix which Spencer guessed was Raena. For just a moment, Spencer would’ve confused her with Randal but there were some slight differences between the two. Raena was taller than Randal by at least a foot and appeared a bit meaner than Randal. She also appeared to be a shiny Alolan Vulpix too unlike Randal and instead of the blue that other regular Alolan Vulpix’s had on certain parts of their fur, Raena instead had a pink color which was also the color of her hair. Spencer also couldn’t help but notice the fact that Raena was basically short stack material as well, with her thighs being wide and that she was a bit chubby as well. “Uhm… I’m Spencer. Randal’s friend,” He said to Raena. She looked at Spencer for a moment, “What is with Randal and knowing so many skunks?” She mumbled to herself, “No wonder he smells all the time,” She said. “What?” Spencer asked, not hearing what she said. “Nothing. Look… Spencer, right? Can I pay you to do something?” Raena asked, “Uh… sure?” Spencer said, the unsureness in his voice apparent. Raena gave a smirk and was about to open her mouth to say something before she heard Randal finishing up whatever he was doing in the kitchen, “Ugh, damnit. Look, I’ll text you later. Don’t tell Randal we talked… or else,” Raena said, beginning to walk away to avoid being caught by Randal. “Wait, how will you text me?” He asked her, to which she didn’t reply as she walked out of the room. “Well, that was weird…” Spencer said as he returned to setting up the Switch for both of them. Randal soon returned with a few different snacks and sodas to make sure the two were at their best while gaming and didn’t get hungry in the middle of their gaming session. Spencer looked up from what he was doing to see all the snacks Randal got, “Wow, you really went all out to make sure we wouldn't be hungry huh?” He said. Randal laughed, “Hey, I know the kind of stuff us gamers need to stay at our best,” Randal said, plopping himself on the couch. “We ready to play?” He asked, to which Spencer gave a nod, moving the TV back to where it was before going over and sitting next to Randal, handing him the player two controller as Spencer began to set up a match for them in Smash Bros. The two would play for a while, playing various matches against each other before going into some of the extra features of Smash Bros. to mix up the gamplay as well. As the two were playing, an Eevee came into the room and noticed the two playing. Deciding not to make his presence known, he watched from a distance, quietly gasping or rooting for whoever was winning or losing. Eventually, a match Randal and Spencer were playing would end with Spencer being unable to recover and Randal winning. “Ugh, damnit!” Spencer yelled. “You were so close!!” The Eevee said suddenly, causing him to gasp out and cover his mouth. Randal suddenly looked back at the Eevee, “Umi, how long have you been there?” Randal asked, “Uhm… a few minutes… maybe?” The Eevee, known as Umi, said with a shrug. Spencer looked back at Umi, “Hi?” Spencer said curiously, Umi looked at Spencer and gave a small wave, “Hi.” He said. Spencer looked at Randal. “Did you invite a second friend over?” Spencer asked. Randal gave a small laugh, “No, Umi lives with us, he’s Raena’s slave,” Randal said jokingly. “Hey!” Umi said with a huff. “I’m kidding! He’s Raena’s butler but he’s a friend of mine as well,” Randal explained. Spencer looked back at Umi for a moment, “... Wanna play with us?” Spencer offered. Umi blinked for a moment and was about to say something when Randal spoke, “I dunno if that’s a good idea. If Raena catches Umi slacking off with us, all our asses are at risk,” Randal said. “I can play for a bit! Most of what she asked me to do is done anyway!” Umi said. Randal shrugged, “Alright, if Raena comes down here shouting at us then that’s on you,” Randal said. Umi gleamed in excitement as he sat between Spencer and Randal. Spencer reached into his backpack and pulled out a third controller for Umi before the three began to play even more matches together. A little while later, the three had finished gaming and were watching a movie just out of pure boredom. Most of the food they had for their gaming session was eaten, Raena had gone out with a friend of hers a while ago, and Umi had fallen asleep in the middle of the movie. Spencer wasn’t even watching anymore, now just texting on his phone. When the movie was finally over, Randal looked over at Spencer, “You good?” Randal asked. “Hmm?” Spencer said, looking up at Randal, “Yeah I’m good,” Spencer said with a shrug. Randal, however, wasn’t satisfied with that answer from him. “Alright, what’s bugging you?” He asked, curious about what the skunk was thinking. “Nothing?” Replied. “Oh, come on. I haven’t seen you in a while. You gotta update me with what’s going on in your life. Now’s the best time to do that I think,” Randal said, giving a small smile to get the skunk to open up with him. “I mean… college sucks. That’s really it,” Spencer said. “Man, you know you’re such a trooper for going through that right? I’m kind of jealous of how tough you are for sticking it out,” Randal said. “Yeah… I mean at least I’m not getting sat on by bigger girls in a wrestling ring,” Spencer said jokingly. “Oh yeah because you don’t like big girls with nice butts,” Randal said. The skunk stared at the Vulpix for a moment before beginning to laugh a bit which caused Randal to laugh in return. The two finished their small laugh session as Randal just sighed, “Let me guess… you want more in your life, don’t you?” He said. Spencer looked up at Randal with a strange look, “You told me that a while ago dude. You’re such the dreamer type to say something like that,” Randal said. Spencer shrugged, “I mean I guess so… I just want to be able to enjoy my life at this point instead of working until the day I die. It’s tough because it’s like the only choice I really have and it’s not fun,” Spencer sighed. Randal leaned back some, “Well… if you’re gonna work until the day you die you may as well own it right? I mean… yeah, I probably challenge the wrong people and I end up paying for it but in the end… I love what I do, it’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was little. Do I regret the choices I make sometimes? Yep. Do I make terrible enemies from it? Absolutely but in the end, I go back because I enjoy it and I decide I wanna own it. You get what I’m saying?” Randal asked. Spencer just sorta stared at Randal for a moment, “That’s some of the best advice you’ve ever given,” Spencer said, causing Randal to roll his eyes. “What time is it anyway?” Randal asked. Spencer looked at his phone, “Almost two in the morning,” He said, putting his phone away. “Before you say anything, no you’re not walking home. You’re staying here for the night, you may be smelly and can make others smelly but I’m not letting my best friend walk back alone or in the dark,” Randal said, “Plus I need help carrying Umi to his bed. The dude’s a heavy sleeper and I’m not leaving him here on the couch.” Spencer gave a small laugh, before he looked down, “Randal?” Spencer asked. “Yeah?” He replied, looking at Spencer. “Thanks for being a good friend,” He said, giving a smile. Randal smiled back, “No problem Spenny.”
