chapter 9
The Wolf and his apprentices slept hard that night, the fatigue of the mission was heaver on the kittens, the wolf however, from his over indulgence before the mission but still they all slept soundly, till the sun rose the next morning and the farm girl woke them. The wolf and the two kittens where woken by Vicky, the farm owners daughter when she opened the door only to find something thrown at her, another of the metal spikes from the night before that the wolf had been using, it missed thankfully leading the cat to a frightened shriek then looking at the one who had thrown it, the wolf in question had only just sat up from the bed, barely half awake; this was clearly the only thing that had saved the girl from a spike to the face. The Assassin then muttered as he glared the girl,
“Should know better, next time knock or you might not be so lucky.”
The wolf wouldn't admit that the girl had in fact caught him of-guard when he heard the handle jiggle as she tried to enter, and that his whole once proclaimed 'I hear everything, even in my sleep' was most likely just his posturing for the kittens. The girl nodded then said when the wolf put the second spike back in his satchel,
“I just wanted to let you know, that we had breakfast ready for you, also I . . . I . . . I wanted to. . . .”
The girls speech was broken up most likely out of embarrassment leading the wolf to snap out at her,
“Spit it out already damn it!”
She nodded then walking into the room and closing the door behind her then asked,
“I also wanted to know if you still wanted me to . . . strip for you.”
The wolf looked at her for a moment, he was still worn out from yesterday, and clearly wasn't interested, the wolf then saying as he waved her off,
“No thanks to tired.”
The girl nodded hiding a ting of thanks from her face, the wolf then saying,
“We'll still talk shortly however, so don't go anywhere just yet.”
The girl nodded and stood there as the wolf untangled himself from the kittens who had opted to try and cuddle with him in the night, it had gotten cold that night and he was the warmest thing they had. Once the wolf was up and he put his under shirt on he then said,
“Alright, here is what I was going to talk to you about, I need to train these two, and the best way to do that is to have something of a base, so from now till its no longer needed I'll be coming back to your farm often, in trade i'll protect your fathers little farm hold, deal?”
The girl thought about it for a moment, was the cost of feeding so many more mouths worth it? Then again not having to worry about bandits and the like would be nice in its own right. After a moment it was the girls father who answered the male having come to check on why his daughter had screamed and overheard the wolfs propitiation,
“Sounds like a deal to me friend.”
The girl looked behind her, suddenly very thankful the wolf had not told her to strip down. The older tabby then said as the kittens finally had started to come too,
“You saved my life and protected my daughter, letting you use my farm for whatever you might need is the least I can do.”
The wolf nodded as the male then asked,
“However and don't take this the wrong way, but with all these new mouths to feed, I have to ask if you would be willing to help when it comes to food, maybe sparing a few coins here and there when necessary?”
The wolf then said with a nod,
“I suppose I could, don't ask for to much though.”
The older cat nodded then held the door open for the wolf and the kittens to head out, the lot of them heading downstairs where everyone had gathered for a large breakfast. They ate till they where full praise and thanks were said several times till the sun started to poked up high, was about noon when the wolf then said,
“So now, as for the last half of my payment, miss Vicky.”
The lot of them looked to the girl as her father then asked,
“What else did you promises him for his services sweetheart?”
The girl sighed then said,
“I promised him our strongest horse.”
Her father looked at her for a moment then said with a laugh,
“That's costly, but so be it.”
The girl looked confused she was sure her father would at least scold her for her trade the beast in question was their workhorse afterall, till her father lead her and the wolf out to the stables where the girl was shocked to see the no less then six new horses that they had brought from the bandits fort, her father then saying,
“It seems that those thugs had no more use for them after our wolfish friend here was finished . . . uh talking to them, one horse won't be a problem you see.”
The girl sighed, she had been dreading giving him his horse as she feared the ramifications on the farm for loosing their work horse. The horses that her father and the wolf had brought from the bandits fort looked like capable beast, none would rival the stallion but would be able to get the job done. The wolf nodded not that he cared, the fact that he had brought them more horses was not what he intended or planned to do, but it happened so happy ending for everyone it seemed. The assassin approached the stallion, said beast looking away till he said,
“You belong to me now, understood?”
The horse looked at the wolf then gave something of a sigh like neigh, and gave something of a nod, the wolf then saying,
“Say your goodbyes to the other horses, we leave shortly.”
The stallion nodded again, it didn't have a say in this, not that it could, it was only just smart enough to understand what was going on. The wolf then said to the kittens as he left the stable,
“Go and get all your things, we're leaving shortly.”
They nodded and chimed out “Yes master” before they rushed off back inside of the main house, once they where gone he turned to the owner of the farm, the older tabby male cocking a brow when the wolf said,
“And as for you,”
He stopped making sure the male knew he was being spoken to before he continued on saying,
“Needless to say that I am a wanted male, so its in both of our best interest if you didn't go touting the fact I was using your farm as a base of sorts, understood? Keep it to yourselves, I'm not here, never was, got that? Do that for me and i'll help you out, one hand washes the other got me?”
The older tabby had an general understanding of the situation, he may have been a simple male, but he was not stupid he had seen the wanted posters, and knew just what the wolf was, the male tabby then responding with,
“In times like this, tis better to be on a devils side then in his way, rest assured we'll cause you no trouble if you cause us none in turn.”
The two males nodded then shook hands, soon rejoined by the kittens with their stuff and the wolfs bag, the two struggling with the combined load of all of their gear, the older tabby saying with a laugh as the wolf easily lifted the his bag from the kittens,
“A shame your not looking for honest work, you'd easily make a grand farm hand with strength like that.”
The wolf looked to the cat for a moment then looked away as the horse came out of the stables, the wolf then saying to the beast,
“Ok horse, from this day forward you're my pack animal, you carry our load and I'll keep you fed, understood?”
The horse looked away for a moment when gave a nod, the wolf then saying,
“Once we get you the necessary harnesses so you can carry things we'll be set till then you'll only carry my bag.”
This made the kittens groan, he had lightened their bags, however they where still heavy, the wolf then snapping at them with,
“Deal with it you two!”
He then made his point when he picked their bags up off of their backs with them still attached to them then saying when with very little effort on his part brought the kittens and their bags up to his eye level,
“The agility you cats have naturally is only a part of our line of work, you need the strength to be able to follow up, now quit your whining, or I'll let the horse carry your bags and make you two carry mine.”
The two looked over at the horse who snickered at them, the kittens knew how heavy the wolf's bag was then said in tandem,
“We'll be good master”
The Wolf nodded then set them back down, the look on the horses face was almost like it was laughing at them, then twins then saying when they turned away, “Stupid horse” at which point after fastening his bag to the horse, said beast almost with a look of disbelief then stareing at the wolf with a look that almost seemed like it was saying 'damn' they set off waving goodbye to the farmers and left the farm hold behind. Thankfully on the twins part it was only a few hours later till they managed across a town at which point the wolf was able to use some of the money he had acquired on their last job to get the necessary items needed for the horse to carry their gear. The horse itself got a lot of praise from passersby on what a powerful beast it looked like it was, it almost looked like it was going to its head as a matter of fact; the wolf had to step in put the horse back in place when it started showing off to get a bit more praise. The kittens showed a viable sign of relief when the last of the items they didn't need to carry was taken out of their bags and loaded into the horses harness, a simple item to be sure, it had no saddle but it did have four large bags that hung two on each side of the horse, said animal then looking at the wolf with an angry look almost as if it was saying 'what the fuck, really?'. The wolf pat the wolf on the side and then said,
“No worries, I don't plan to overload you, if you where to be slowed down by our gear i'd be slowing myself down as well. Though you will be carrying the heaviest of the load we'll also be pulling our weight.”
The horse neighed then looked over as it felt the kittens trying to lighten their loads by putting more in the horses bags, the horse looking at the two with a look of 'busted' on its face, the wolf then picking them up by the scruffs of their necks then saying,
“Try that again and you'll be the ones wearing the harness got it?”
Once they had gotten all the items they tried to take out of their bags, the wolf opted to punish them by adding more to their bags, namely all the bedding materials, and the small bag of the horses feed the wolf had bought. To say this turn of events pleased the horse out of the lot of them was to say the least, the shit eating grin the horse wore every time it saw the two struggling to carry their bags was a comical sight to be sure. Once they where done and the wolf had haggled for some food stuffs they left the town behind, not sure where they were bound for, they however kept up with the wolf same as the horse, who had a strange sense of respect for the assassin it seemed, sure the wolf was using it as a pack animal sure, but the wolf went out of his way to punish the kittens when they tried to stuff his already heavy bags with more stuff, bringing the horse to believe the wolfs words about them pulling their weight, in a strange way the horse almost felt like an equal rather then just a beast, or at the very least like he was an important tool. The sun was starting to go down when the wolf decided to make camp, calling the horse and kittens to follow him off the road, making sure they were some ways away from it before they started setting up their camp, the kittens asking as they unloaded the supplies from the horses bags,
“So master whats next?”
The wolf looked to the two kittens who had gotten the hang of setting up their camp, the wolf sitting down as they did their chores said,
“We're still hurting for coin more so with everything I had to buy today, you two are far from assassins however I could at least say you're at a point were you could be called apprentices, at least. We however need to get more work, there is no better teacher after all then experience, we also need the money.”
The kittens nodded and went about setting up their tent as they usually did, the wolf then saying when the horse approached,
“You're free to graze as you see fit, a fair amount of grass around,”
The Wolf quickly relieved the horse of its burden before he said,
“However you are not to go to far from the camp, once camp is set up I'll have the little ones take you to the river to restock our water and let you drink.”
The horse nodded then noticing some grass near by and went to go eat it rather then wasting what food stuffs the wolf had bought for it. The wolf couldn't help but notice the intelligence of the horse idle wondering what the exact difference between a morph and a feral was, but put that thought aside as the kittens started playing rather then putting up the tent, grabbing up a pair of small stones and then pelting both of the twins in the butt, then saying after when he had their attention and they were rubbing their rear ends,
“Stop fucking around and get the tent up.”
They nodded then quickly went back to work when they noticed that he had picked up a few more stones and started brandishing them. After they had gotten back to work the wolf looked up at the sky wondering what he should do next, but that was a thought he set aside for tomorrow, once the kittens had set up the camp they did as told and took the horse to the river to drink as they filled their water supply. Once that was done and dinner had been cooked then promptly eaten had the kittens immediately started pestering him for more training, which after listening to them ask, and ask . . . and ask, he finally said ok. Opting to test their observational skills he told them he'd hide in plain sight, they had to spot him, though it was not really a lesson they needed at that moment in time, he was just feeling a tad bit tired and opted for a lesson that would be easier on him then them. It took almost an hour but finally the kittens managed to find him, nearly nodding off in a near by tree, the wolf tried to play it off as that they had taken to long and had this been important in some way or form they'd have surely failed, not wanting to admit that he was just tired and wanted to sleep.
When the sun finally started going down the assassin decided that they would turn in, telling the kittens to stop dicking around and get ready for bed, the wolf taking off most of his gear say for the barest of his under clothes, the kittens following suit laying down in their bedrolls in naught by their underwear. The kittens thought for sure that their master would want sex, the female twin even going as far as offering only to find the wolf fast asleep, so they decided to get themselves off the twins pulling off a sixty-nine position to do so, the wolf having told them days before that the boy should not give his sister a creampie telling them that if he got her pregnant it could be bad for the girl, they took it to heart even if it wasn't the full truth. Shortly after sating each other the kittens followed after the wolf into the realm of dreams, The trio woke when the morning sun made itself known, the wolf waking to one of the kittens for some reason sprawled out across his chest, grabbing the boy's foot then promptly dragging him away, the kittens bits having been closer to the wolf's face then he cared for. Looking at the two kittens for a moment the wolf then said,
“Wake up you two.”
There was a groggy response from the twins as they started to wake, the girl quickly noting the fact the wolf had laid her brothers morning wood on her face. They woke and dressed before going about their morning chores, the wolf cooking breakfast as the twins worked. As they ate breakfast the girl asked their master as he finished off his,
“So what are we doing today master?”
The wolf looked at the kitten for a moment then said after finishing his food,
“Like I said money is still a problem, so we're going to go look for work.”
The boy then asked,
“Any ideas where we can go, back to that inn maybe?”
The wolf shook his head then said,
“No, to low rent, I need at least to get a job that will pay, you two need a job that won't get you killed.”
The twins nodded in agreement, not getting killed was a good thing in their minds. Thinking on this for a few moments the wolf then came up with an idea, then saying,
“There is a brothel I've used in the past about a days trek away from here, lots of those types gather there, seeing as to many seedy types know my face the second I step though the entryway I'll have jobs being thrown at me from everywhere.”
The kittens nodded then ate, afterwards they put the campsite away then the saddlebags back on the horse who didn't like it, but knew it didn't have a choice. Once ready and everything put away they got on the road same as usual, their destination the brothel the wolf spoke of. The trip was normal and that night they camped out once more, the wolf not going into that place tired, he knew better. That morning came same as before they woke had breakfast and then the kittens went about their chores then followed after their master. They arrived about midday the sun high in the sky when they approached what seemed to be the brothel, the wolf stopping for a moment then said as he turned to the kittens,
“Till I say otherwise you two will hold onto my tail, understood?”
They nodded afterwards he turned toward the entrance and several males armed to the teeth seemed to be acting as bouncers of sorts, a Rinomorph took a look at the wolf for a moment then gave a nod the wolf entering the building and instantly heading down a flight of stone wrought stairs. Once at the entrance proper the wolf was greeted by a human, a man with greasy black hair then saying,
“AH, the infamous Lone Wolf,”
Stopping to take a look at the kittens behind him the man snickered as he went on to say,
“Not so alone now it seems, Anyway what can we do for you an itch you want to scratch perhaps?”
The wolf said lowering his hood then said,
“Nothing, I'm looking for work and thought I'd use your establishment's clientele to do so.”
The man nodded then said,
“Then by all means, make your way to the pub in the back.”
The wolf nodded making his way down a hall of some kind. The sounds of sex echoed through out the passage, one male stepping out of a room then shouting for the black haired man, who asked once he came over,
“Yes sir what can I help you with?”
The male then said motioning into the room,
“I want another one, that one won't stop bawling.”
Looking into the room a young girl was spotted, the amount of blood running down her leg suggested that it had been her first time and he was not very kind about it, simply nodding the man snapped his fingers then ordered some men to retrieve the girl from the room telling them once they passed him to enter,
“Take her back with the others.”
The men nodded then removed the girl from the room, the black haired man then looked around to see if another child was available, he man then spotted the wolfs kittens, still holding onto his tail. The man grinning and thinking himself clever moved to grab the female twin, the second her hand tugged away from his tail however the wolf's blade left its sheaf then found itself at the mans neck, the wolf then saying when he smiled then let the girl go,
“That's mine, touch either of them again her again and you'll loose more then that hand”
The man nodded then said,
“Understood”
The wolf snarled at the man for a moment before returning his blade to its sheaf, the wolf saying “come on” as he began walking again, the kittens following after the girl once again grabbed onto her masters tail. The boy asked as they moved along,
“Is that why you wanted us to hold onto your tail?”
The wolf sighed then said,
“You'll find none of the care or kindness here that we did at our last brothel, these people are not afraid to grab up random cubs or kids then pass them off to their patrons; all they care about is coin, to them a life is worthless”
The kittens nodded then held his tail tighter. They went down the hall like corridor as they made their way to the pub, the corridor itself was lined with rooms patrons could use to enjoy what ever sexual fetish shined their fancy, the establishment provided for all, so long as they had the coin to pay for it. They where about at the pub when another door opened and coming out of the room was a large stallion the horse morph was still sporting an erection then motioned to one of the staff who asked,
“Yes sir, what can I help you with?”
The stallion then said with an unsatisfied grunt,
“Afraid I've done it again, I'm going to need another.”
The male staff member looked inside the room then said with a tisk tisk kind of tone,
“The boss won't be happy about that, you'd best be able to pay for that.”
The horse nodded then said as he tossed the male a bag of coins,
“That should cover it, now get me another girl and a clean room.”
The male nodded then snapped his fingers, telling a few of the brothels goons to 'clean up the mess' as he then went on to take the stallion to another room. Looking inside the room the wolf saw something that made his blood nearly boil, inside the room was a young cub. Now very much dead, the girl was clearly killed by the sheer titanic size of the stallions member in comparison to her, she was damn near split in two before her end came. The cubs went to look inside as well, however he blocked their line of sight with his cloak, there was no need for them to see this, death was one thing, this was just cruel and borderline evil. Turning them away he then told them to follow as he once again made his way to the pub. Once at the area in question they noticed it was somewhat packed, male morphs and men smoking and drinking, talking about things to one another and several looking at a lineup of girls the youngest being six, the oldest perhaps eighteen, either to choose which they wanted to fuck, or maybe to buy, the several wealthy looking men eyeing them were nearly licking their chops as they eyed the girls. The wolf noticed several people instantly took notice of his presence, the wolf then sitting in a booth near the back, away from most of the noise and nonsense of the goings on. Shortly after a young girl dressed in simple clothing walked up to their table, the most out of place thing on her was a collar which marked her as property, the girl asked if he'd like anything, he told her he wanted an ale, two glasses of whatever was nonalcoholic for the kittens, and three breakfasts. The girl nodded then went back to give his order to whoever was in charge of this area. It was more or less the same procedure the twins had seem him do before, one side of the booth he left empty more then once men and morphs alike sat in the other side and tried to hire the wolf, however he told each one up to the point their food finally arrived to piss off. As they ate and drank the wolf noticed the stallion from before had come into the pub, he had donned a expensive set of armor and it seemed he was someone important, the staff treating him like he was akin to royalty. The stallion looked at the wolf for a moment then grinned, however opted to go to the far end of the bar for now, it seemed he was hungry and instantly smacked one of the severing girls upside the head to demand her full attention. The wolf finally took his eyes off the stallion when two people sat on the empty side of the table. They hid their faces in their hoods, he could barely tell he was speaking to a dog morph and a human, both male, they quickly gave the wolf their pitch, they wanted to hire him to guard something, more to the point someone, they wouldn't give him the details however promised he'd be well payed for his time. The wolf thought it over, if all they needed was someone to babysit some brat then it was more or less going to be an easy job, and something that would teach the kittens they were going to need a firm hand, and they needed to have little to no remorse in their work. After listening to them, the wolf then said,
“I'm sorry, I myself can't take the job, my apprentices however can take and will, they will be more then what you need for this task.”
The two thought about it for a moment, spoke to each-other for a moment then accepted, telling him that they would meet his apprentices outside of the establishment momentarily. The wolf nodded then sent them away, once they were gone the wolf said,
“There you two have it, your first job as my official apprentices, sounds like they kidnapped some nobles brat and are demanding ransom, they'll need you two to guard their prize till they get what they want. You two remember how to get back to the farm we came from?”
The kittens nodded the wolf then saying before motioning to the two people waiting for them at the door,
“Once you're finished we'll meet up there, now get going, and try not to mess up my reputation, I've got a name to protect after all.”
The kittens nodded, the wolf getting up so they could leave, they took a look back at their master for a few seconds before they left with the two people who had hired them, truly alone on their first job as his apprentices; it made them feel a tad bit uneasy to be sent away from him but trusted his judgment. About an hour after the kittens had left did someone come up to the wolf's table, the stallion in the armor. The wolf taped the table same as always and the stallion followed suit with a large bag of gold coins, this got the wolf's attention. Looking up at the stallion the wolf asked,
“So who's lapdog are you?”
The horse ignored his comment then said,
“I am the captain of the guard for the city of Degaul not but four miles from here, I am here under orders of Marquis John Loris to get some outside help, the notorious Lone Wolf should be able to solve my lords problems easily.”
The wolf looked at the horse then the bag of coin he had set on the table, then nodded saying,
“Alright I'm game, whats the job?”
The stallion said getting up,
“The Marquis wishes to tell you in person, we'll leave now if you're ready.”
The wolf nodded, finished his ale then got up, looking to the barman who saw the wolf wave several coins at him before leaving them on the table, the male nodding knowing it was payment for the food and drink, a small child no older then his own kittens soon sent over to collect them. With that the wolf left with the stallion for the city of Degaul with the large Stallion, to meet this Marquis Loris.
