  "description": "Becoming Feral\n\nI sit back in my favorite recliner breathing deeply in and out, feeling the cold hard tip of the barrel touche my soft palate. My right index paw pad just caressing the side of the Beretta 92s trigger. Taking another deep breath closing my eyes and reaching, the phone across the room rings. Sighing deeply and getting up still holding the pistol. I answer the phone with my typical good cheer of “ WHAT?” Hoping against hope’s a food shipment has come in. No, nothing but another political automated call. I SLAM the receiver down and without much thought point the pistol at the phone and empty all 12 rounds into it...GREAT now I’m low on ammunition and need another new telephone.\n\nIt’s been almost a year, the anthro herbivores just couldn’t stand their feral cousins going to wholesale slaughter. They protested and lobbied lawmakers for more and more restrictions which they got, still that didn’t appease the most hard liners of them all.\n\nThe outright sabotage of ranches, meat processing plants and suppliers soon followed, the food shortages at least for part of the population was a foregone conclusion.\n\nMy sheep are mostly gone, having had to eat them myself or other starving carnivore anthros stealing them for food themselves. I have to keep the remaining flock under constant guard or in the barn less I won’t have enough them left for the flock to repopulate if and when things ever improve.\n\nI haven’t heard of any additional riots or protests today and maybe someone got a shipment of meat in, Government relief, dried or of questionable quality doesn’t seem to matter anymore.\n\nGoing over to the bathroom to grab my shirt I don’t even bother looking in the mirror, standing there counting ribs and my loss of weight is best after a few drinks. And really I wouldn’t mind the weight loss, something I’ve been trying to accomplish for years, it’s just when my fur started to thin out that’s when it really started to bother me.\n\nArriving in town it seems to be about the new normal, very few people out and about what other canines I see seeming thin and listless. Our town is too small to generate anything larger than bar fights and other small brawls so the national guard isn’t presence, just the usual police. The bigger cities and population centers are a whole other story, many on the verge of tearing themselves apart.\n\nIt’s a lost cause still I drive by the Mega Lo mart, the same signs that have been up there for ages now “ No meat available” the government relief station is abandoned for the time being, another waste of time.\n\nHell with it, maybe I’ll hit a possum on the way home or here’s hoping. Taking everything that I once was and pushing it down... down to Sirius only knows where. Her neck so long and slim my nose touching the smooth shampooed and conditioned soft fur.\n\nI just about traded places with her as she begged me not to take her kid sister of only seven and to at least tell her parents she didn’t run away.\n\nI damn well know I can’t make any such promises, still I look up and nod, telling her I won’t touch her sister and do what I could to tell her parents. And I truly hope I don’t see her sister in the same spot.\n\nTaking a deep breath I gather together what’s left of my resolve stealing myself for what I must do, my soon to be dinner just sobbing quietly. I kick over the chair the young too young to die doe drops the noose going tight, unfortunately her neck not breaking.\n\nShe struggles to breathe, her tongue out, legs and tail kicking, the pointy tips of her hooves maybe only 6 inches above the dirt floor. I take the cowards way out unable to watch looking at a spot on the dirt floor, only looking back as the thrashing has almost stopped.\n\nI reach up and unbutton her shorts and pull down her shorts and pink panties, getting a full nose of her feminine scent. I SLAM the receiver down and without much thought point the pistol at the phone and empty all 12 rounds into it...GREAT now I&rsquo;m low on ammunition and need another new telephone.<br /><br />It&rsquo;s been almost a year, the anthro herbivores just couldn&rsquo;t stand their feral cousins going to wholesale slaughter. They protested and lobbied lawmakers for more and more restrictions which they got, still that didn&rsquo;t appease the most hard liners of them all.<br /><br />The outright sabotage of ranches, meat processing plants and suppliers soon followed, the food shortages at least for part of the population was a foregone conclusion.<br /><br />My sheep are mostly gone, having had to eat them myself or other starving carnivore anthros stealing them for food themselves. I have to keep the remaining flock under constant guard or in the barn less I won&rsquo;t have enough them left for the flock to repopulate if and when things ever improve.<br /><br />I haven&rsquo;t heard of any additional riots or protests today and maybe someone got a shipment of meat in, Government relief, dried or of questionable quality doesn&rsquo;t seem to matter anymore.<br /><br />Going over to the bathroom to grab my shirt I don&rsquo;t even bother looking in the mirror, standing there counting ribs and my loss of weight is best after a few drinks. And really I wouldn&rsquo;t mind the weight loss, something I&rsquo;ve been trying to accomplish for years, it&rsquo;s just when my fur started to thin out that&rsquo;s when it really started to bother me.<br /><br />Arriving in town it seems to be about the new normal, very few people out and about what other canines I see seeming thin and listless. Our town is too small to generate anything larger than bar fights and other small brawls so the national guard isn&rsquo;t presence, just the usual police.
