", "writing": "[center][b]Chapter 3 The basics of a tamer[/b] [/center]\n\n\nI should have made this disclaimer long ago but I’ll just place it here. \nAll Names and Characters don’t have anything to do with real life persons or other furry characters. I just looove to place Easter eggs and references throughout my stories. \nCharacters have their purpose and actions way before I’m thinking of their appearance. Should someone still be triggered because of that, send me a PM on Inkbunny and I will remove it.\n\n\n\nI was sleeping really deep but suddenly I had a strange dream. I raised my head but I was big…. very big. I saw a dragon that laid before me. After a while, I realized that it was Kabe. “Argh” I made that sound with my mouth bit I didn’t made it….. It felt so weird. “Something wrong?” Kabe ask and he looked at me. “Yeah… I can feel Max inside my head but he is completely unresponsive and I can’t reach him” my mouth said. “Oh don’t worry. Let me explain it. If Max thinks about you in the last moment before he fell asleep, his mind will connect to yours unwillingly. It feels like a dream for him and you are feeling the connection between you two. I hope for you that it doesn't bother you that much. You can’t blame him for thinking about you, especially because your connection is so young. On the other side…. you prevent him from having nightmares” Kabe said. “Yeah you are right…. can’t blame him for thinking about me… I’m thinking of him, too” my mouth said and I slowly begun to realize that “my mouth” was Keto. “But if you want, I can look if he is really sleeping” Kabe offered. “How can you do that?” Keto asked. “Mike and I can partially remote control our bodies. I can take the control over his, even when he sleeps” Kabe explained. “Wow” said Keto impressed. Kabe begun to laugh. “Don’t worry, you will learn this soon enough. On the other side it is hard to perfect this technic” said Kabe and he closed one eye. “What the?” Kabe said suddenly. “Is something wrong?” Keto asked and he raised his head. “NO don’t move!” Kabe said quickly. Keto froze immediately and just looked worried to Kabe. “Oh no nothing bad but Max is so deeply connected with you that he is mimicking every movement form you. You should see how he sits on their bed” Kabe said. “Oh….. Ok and what should I do?” Keto asked a bit confused. “I can either wake up Mike, so he can wake up Max or you have to lay down on your back” Kabe said. “You can’t just wake Max?” Keto asked. “Nah, not a great Idea. Look, you can see that I closed one eye. Mike has now one eye open and I can look through that eye. The dragon marking has completely took over his iris and if I wake Max in this state, I will scare the shit out of him. It just looks weird if someone sleeps and simultaneously looks at you with one glowing, green eye” Kabe explained. “Oh yeah you will probably wake up the entire inn, too” said Keto and thought about it. “No let Mike sleep. I’ll just lay down and relax” Keto said. After some adjustments from Kabe, Keto finally laid on his back and relaxed. “Oh by the way, He won’t remember that he was in your mind. Just like a dream, he will forget it pretty quickly after he woke up” Kabe said. Keto nodded and they both waited. Keto was trying to get into a more comfortable position but that was difficult. Keto moved his arm a bit and that was a mistake. “Oh now you punched Mike right in his face…. you know I could have woke him up friendlier” Kabe said laughing. “Are you serious?” Keto asked in shock. “Yeah one moment I’ll tell him” Kabe said quickly and he closed his eyes. Keto waited but suddenly the world around me was shaken and I woke up. I saw a Mike and he rubbed his cheek with one hand and with the other, he woke me up. “Oh I’m so sorry. I didn’t wanted...” I said immediately but Mike cut me off. “Do I have to cuff you, if I want some sleep?” he asked but I saw his smile. “I’m sorry Max” Keto said inside my head. “It’s ok Max but hold still for a moment” Mike said and he begun to reposition us. Now my complete back leaned against his front and he wrapped his arms around me to hold my hands in place. “Now you can wiggle as much as you want, I won’t get hit again” Mike said with a smile. I opened my mouth to say something but he was quicker. “That was a joke Max. Relax and try to sleep again” Mike said and he stroke my cheek with one hand. I nodded and closed my eyes jet again. After some minutes, we both fell asleep again.\n\nThe morning came and the sun rose over the horizon. I woke up and saw that my little brother was still asleep. I gently stroke his cheek and he grunted softly. “Wake up Max” I said quietly. “Only 5 more minutes big brother” he replied tired. I smiled and thought about it for a second. “Ok but only 5 minutes” I said. He turned around and happily cuddled himself in my fur. I stroke his head a bit until he fell asleep again. “Ok Max you can sleep but I need to get up” I said quietly and I carefully got up. I stretched my arms and my body and a big yawn escaped my mouth. “Morning Mike” Kabe said in my head. “Morning Kabe, everything all right?” I asked him while I went for the bathroom. “Besides the attack from Max? Yeah I think so” Kabe said laughing. “Yes yes I know... How is Keto?” I asked. “He’s doing fine” Kabe said and I saw how he turned towards him. “Good. I’ll release my bladder real quick and take a shower” I said. After a very long shower (it takes some time to clean my entire fur) I went back to our room. Max was still sleeping but now it was time to get up. “C’mon Max get up” I said and I nudged him slightly. “That was not 5 minutes” Max said. “Yes, more like an hour. Come On get up” I said smiling. \n\n“...Come on get up” said Mike and I saw that he was smiling at me. I gave up and I got up. I stretched myself and turned towards Mike. “You should take a shower Max. Oh and by the way… Where is your blue neckerchief?” Mike asked. “Oh it is in my bag. I took it off before I climbed a mountain. I thought it would be in my way while climbing. But you are right, I’m a bit dirty” I said while looking at my fur. It was a bit cluttered and a bit of dry mud was sticking in it. “Morning Max” Keto’s voice said in my head. I jumped a little bit and Mike smiled at me. “You’ll get used to it” he said. “Morning” I said to Keto in my head. “Finally awake?” Keto said and I could feel his smile. “Yeah” I replied but I turned my attention towards Mike. “Ok I’ll take a shower” I said to him. “Good... oh and use your magic to heat the water. The inn is quite full and we can heat the water in other ways. The other guests then have more for themselves” Mike said. “Ok” I said and went out.\n\nAfter Max went out, I sat down on a chair and thought a little bit. “What should I teach them first?” I asked Kabe. “That’s a good question” Kabe said. “Maybe I’ll test his strength first. I want to see if he got stronger in the time between our last training” I said while still thinking about it. After a good hour, Max came back. “Ahhh someone has another fur color besides dirt” I said to him smiling. “Ha ha very funny Mike” he said and he sat down on the bed. “Ok I would say, that we are eating some launch and then we go to Kabe and Keto” I said to Max. “Good Idea” he replied. “Good then let’s go” I said and I got up. Max got up, too but he quickly put on his neckerchief and I had to smile. We both went out of our room and downstairs. It was early in the morning so I didn’t expected a lot of people and I was right. The bar and all the tables were empty. Just the owner was here and that really surprised me. “Morning” he said friendly. “Do you ever sleep?...... morning” I added quickly. He begun to laugh “yes I do sir” he said laughing. I wanted to say something but suddenly something in my body told me that he wasn’t the same person from yesterday and I looked a bit confused and probably disapproving. “I see that you are getting behind my secret but before you came to the wrong conclusion I’ll better tell you. I’m not the owner you met yesterday. You met my twin brother” he said. “ahhhh” I said and I relaxed. “Yeah it is a little trick that we do. We are triplets but we want to make everyone believe that we are one person. Oh and by the way. My brother told Master Kyle the massage you told him” he said. “Oh thanks” I said. “A little bit empty” Max said and he looked around. “It is early in the morning sir. I don’t expect many people until nine or 10 o’clock. However, you are most likely here to eat some launch. Should I make some?” he asked. “That would be great” I said. “Good, sit down and I’ll be back in a few minutes” he said. “Thanks” Max and I said simultaneously and we went for a table. We sat down and Max looked at me. “So ammm…. What are we doing now?” he said and I got an idea what he meant by that. “Oh shit I didn’t told you yesterday. I got a week off and I wanted to train you and Keto a bit” I said. Max begun to smile and I saw his big smile on his face. “A whole week?” he asked happy. “Yeah that’s the plan but of cause if something happens, I have to go earlier” I said. “Yeah but it is most likely going to be a whole week” Max said. “Yes a whole week just to train my little brother…… I can’t imagine a better vacation” I said smiling. “Wait that’s your VACATION?” Max asked shocked. “Yes but….” I began but I didn't get any further. “NO, you can’t just sacrifice your only vacation time for me. I know that you don’t have that much free time and a vacation is for relaxing” Max said shocked. He wanted to continue but I held his mouth shut. “Max relax, I can decide on my own how I spend my free time. Besides that, I can’t think of a way to relax better than to teach my brother a few new things. Max, if I did not want to, I would have said something long ago” I said. Max still looked at me kinda sad. “Ahhh Max” I just said and stroke his head a bit. “I just don’t like the Idea that you sacrifice everything just for me. You should relax a bit with Kabe” He said a bit sad. “Don’t worry, I’m getting my relaxing because I won’t teach you that much in terms of combat. For that we don’t have the time” I said. However, in this moment the owner came back with a plate of delicious food. There was a large selection of food, many different types of meat, eggs, a loaf of bread, and many different vegetables. “Here, enjoy your meal” the owner said. “Let’s move our argumentation to later” I said and we began to eat. The food was just delicious and there was enough for both of us. We both ate a lot and when we were done, the owner came back. “Was everything all right?” he asked us but it was a bit useless because we looked very happy and well fed. “It was really delicious” We both said and I grabbed my gold bag to pay him. “No you don’t have to pay. You might not wear your armor right now but you are still a member of the combined forces” the pig said and he shook his head. “It is one thing to let us sleep here for free but you can’t pay for our food, too. Take it” Mike said and put some gold directly in his hand. The pig opened his mouth to replay but then he decided not to. “Thanks” he just said and we got up.\n\nWe went back to our room. Mike and I began to pack our bags and after that, we went outside the inn. We were walking over the marketplace but suddenly someone shouted our names. “Mike, Max!” We both turned around and so my best friends Neka and Nick. They were feline twins; both have gray/white fur a cute face and very soft paws. We wrapped our arms around each other and I smiled. “Max where have you been? Hi Mike” Neka said quickly. “Hi…. don’t ask. Master Kyle gave me the wrong map and I got lost in the wilderness” I said. “Yeah, good thing I found you and brought you here” Mike said. For a moment, I was confused why he lied but I decided to play along. “Yes…. I wouldn't had survived for much longer” I said. “OH shit…. We totally forgot Master Kyle Max” Mike said suddenly. “Oh dammit you’re right” I said and remembered that I was supposed to meet Kyle. “Well then better hurry up” Nick said laughing. “I’ll see you two later then” I said to Nick and Neka. “Later” the twins said and we moved along. Therefore, we went back but now to the house of Master Kyle. I had a key for the door and we went inside. “Hello?” I said down the hallway. I head steps and a few second later, Kyle stood before us. “Max, oh I’m glad that you are finally here. I’m sooo sorry” Kyle said and he put his arms on my shoulder. “It’s ok that you gave me the wrong map… In Fact I’m happy about it” I said with a smile. “What?.... Why… NO WAY” Master Kyle said. At first, he made a confused face and this changed into complete astonishment. He took a few steps back and just looked at me. “When you Mike came to me with your dragon marking….. I was impressed but Max….. You are just 15! This is nearly impossible” Kyle said. A silence begun now and nobody said something. “I had many students that were tamers but nobody managed to tame a dragon at this age” Master Kyle said. “Well….I’m full of surprises” I said because I didn’t know what to say else. “Well that’s true” Kyle said smiling. “Is that the reason why you are here Mike?” Kyle asked. “Yes… and no. I got a bit of vacation and I was planning to visit Max here anyways. However, Max came before me and he send me a letter. I went to Rockfort and met you. At this point, I didn't know that Max here had tamed a dragon” Mike said. “Well…… lucky coincidences” Kyle said. “Well then it is not a bed news for you that I need to go away for three days” Kyle said. “Really?” Mike asked. “That would be great…. no offence” Mike quickly added. “Well…. I’m already late. I see you two in three days” Kyle said and Mike and I nodded. “Bye” we said when Kyle went out. We just stood there a moment but Mike turned towards me. “We need to talk… at the mountain” Mike said. “The Mountain?” I asked confused. “Where Kabe and Keto hide” Mike explained. “Oh ok” I said still confused. Therefore, we went outside and we were heading to the city gates. Kabe was already waiting for us and I searched for Keto. “I’m still in our hideout. Kabe will take you” Keto said inside my head. “Oh ok” I said to him and I turned towards Kabe. We both got on Kabe’s back and I wrapped my arms around Mike’s belly. “Hold tight Max” Mike said inside my head and I remembered that we could do that. “What do you think is the range of this ability?” I asked him. “To Keto I would say unlimited. Between us would be a very good question but not that far I think” Mike said while we flew up into the sky. We flew about half an hour. Finally, I could see Keto. We landed and Keto came to us. Kabe just folded his wings when Keto took me in his mouth and he picked me from Kabe’s back. “Morning big guy” I said laughing and I stroke his head. “Morning little guy” he said muffled because he still held me with his teeth and he made a humming sound. I dodged his attack and when his arm past me I concentrated my magic in my left hand. An orb of blue energy formed and I smashed it right at Mike’s chest armor. I sat down besides Keto and begun to drink his tasty milk. It had to be afternoon by now and I was quiet hungry. “So what’s about the mind control thing?” Keto asked in my head. “*sight* ok ok I’ll explain it. In a nutshell, Mike mind controlled me very often and very long in our past. He didn’t do it on purpose but he did it. I….. I…….. *sight* I kinda like it, too. It just feels soooo good. Nothing to worry about, nothing to fear and I’m trusting Mike 100%. I would explain it like a whitelist for my head but I ensure you that Mike is the only person on that whitelist and no other person could control me that easily. I’m sorry Keto” I said embarrassed. I knew that it wasn’t good thing to like it. “Well….. but it is a reason….. don’t worry Max. I’ll make sure that your head stays yours” Keto said and I smiled. “But keep drinking. You had a hard fight” Keto said and he stroke my back. I moaned quietly and continued to drink. I turned my head slightly to Mike and I could see him drinking, too. It was kinda strange to see him drinking the milk from Kabe. However, I turned back and continued drinking. I drank a lot of milk but I finally stopped and just laid myself on my back. Suddenly, Keto begin to lick over my belly and I stated to laugh. Mike and Kabe looked towards us and they both begun to laugh, too. I stopped Keto and looked confused at the two. “Sorry Max but….. Keto that was just too good” Mike said laughing. Now even Keto begun to laugh and I was the only one who didn’t get the joke. “What are you laughing about?” I asked. “Sorry Max…. licking the belly after the meal is a common thing….. but for a baby and his parents. It should stimulate the digestion. Keto labeled you as a baby” Mike said laughing. “I’m sorry” Keto said to me but the fact that he was laughing didn’t helped that much. “WOW…… thanks Keto” I said and I crossed my arms. “C’mon Max, don’t be sad. I didn’t to label you as a baby it was just….” bit he didn’t finished his sentence. I knew that he wanted to say “instinct” but that wouldn’t be that nice after all. Keto wrapped his wings and arms around me and I forgive him of cause. “I’ll have my revenge later” I said to him while hugging him. “Probably” Keto said smiling. “I know that you didn’t meant to be rude and you can keep doing it if you want” I said. “Thanks” Keto said. “I’m sorry to interrupt you two but I need to talk with you Max” Mike suddenly said and Keto released me. “What is it?” I asked Mike. “I wanted to talk with you about the whole dragon thing….. MAX PLEASE promise me that you keep it secret. NO ONE is allowed to know it except for Kabe and me……. and Master Kyle. Look….. you don’t want that kind of attention. Just keep quiet about it…. even Nick and Neka are not allowed to know it” Mike said really strict. “Why?” I asked surprised. “....I’m worried that the darklings get aware of you and your abilities. I’m not letting this happen” Mike said but he said it in a strange way…. aggressive but also deeply worried. “Relax Mike, we can trust Nick and Neka” I said to defend my friends. “It’s not their fault but…… Max listen, the darklings have an ability that they can mind control everybody and by “everybody” I mean EVERYBODY. There is only a small group of people that I can trust. . Hell I wouldn’t even consider myself to be able to withstand for a very long time. So in general, the less people know about Keto the better” Mike said. “Okay…..”I said slowly. I couldn’t argue against that. “Thanks…. I thought that this would be a difficulty argue but I was wrong. Ok but it’s getting late. We should decide if we stay the night here or we can go back to the inn” Mike said. “Already?” I said surprised. “Yeah it is almost evening and we should decide now” Mike said. “I want to stay with Keto” I said. “Good, I’ll bring back the key to our room and you stay here with Keto” Mike said. “Ok” I said. “I’ll be back in a few minutes. Get comfortable with Keto and stay low ok?” Mike said. “Ok” I replied. “See you both soon” Kabe said and they both went out. I looked at Keto and he laid himself down, inviting me to his side. I followed his invite and I sat down, leaning against his belly. I began to stroke him and he hummed in joy at me. I leaned against his warm and comfortable body and just relaxed. I felt that he connected himself to me and I just let it happen. “Oh by the way. The organ inside me….. How long does it take to grow?” I asked Keto. “A few weeks. Then it is not exactly grown up but big enough to be able to use the dragon form for a few seconds” Keto said. “Is it visible from the outside?” I asked. “No but you can feel it” Keto said. “Good…. shit I’m tired” I said and I released a big yawn. “Lay down and relax Max. I’ll keep you warm and secure” Keto said and he licked over my face. “Thanks Keto” I said and I got comfortable enough to sleep. I cuddled with Keto and slowly drifted away into sleeping. After a while, Keto could hear steps coming down the little cave. “Is that you Kabe?” Keto asked Kabe with telepathy. “Yes, don’t worry” Kabe said and a moment later he stood in front of Keto. Kabe saw that I was asleep and he began to smile. “So our two little warriors are taking a nap” said Kabe smiling and he showed Keto his back. Mike laid on his back, his cheek was against Kabe’s skin, his arms were hanging left and right from Kabe and he quietly snored. “I think their fight with each other drained a lot of energy from them” Kabe said. “Definitely true” Keto replied smiling. Kabe begun to connect himself with Mike. Then he carefully picked Mike up with his mouth and begun to lay himself down right next to Keto. Suddenly, Mike opened one eye, it was completely green, and a slight shiver went through Keto’s body. “What are you doing?” Keto asked confused. “I’m controlling him. He needs to undress his armor before sleeping. Otherwise he will wake up with pain” Kabe said and Keto watched how Mike begun to undress his armor while sleeping. It looked a bit ridiculous how one eye was closed and the other one was open and completely green. “So that’s how it looks when you control your tamer?” Keto asked. “Yes indeed. The dragon marking in his eye has….. “Take over his eye”..... Yeah you could say that. However, now I can control his entire body without him waking up, as you can see right now” Kabe said and Keto watched how Mike undressed himself. After that he cuddled himself into Kabe and begun to sleep. “don’t worry, soon you will be able to do that yourself with Max” Kabe said. “How long will it take?” Keto asked. “That’s a good question…… I think tomorrow or the day after tomorrow Kabe said. “So fast?” Keto asked surprised. “Yes but the real challenge is to do it without the connection. Even Mike and I are not able to do this completely without the connection. I can move him, he can move me and we can do very basic tasks but nothing more. For example laying down don’t work, Mike always collapses when I try this just over our heads. It is difficult” Kabe said. “Well it sounds difficult, too” Keto said. “Enough talking for today. Get some sleep Keto, I’ll guard our little cave because Mike wasn’t able to cast our normal shield spells” Kabe said. “Oh…..thanks” Keto said and he managed to sleep within 10 minutes. \n\n\nThe next day came and I slowly opened one eye. I expected to see Keto but I was surprised. My head was on Mike’s chest instead of Keto’s. “Morning little one” Mike said smiling and he stroke my shoulder. “Mhhh….. I could have sworn that I fell asleep with Keto” I said while looking around. I noticed that Kabe and Keto weren't here. “Good thing you have slept very deeply. Kabe and Keto went out for hunting, they need to eat something, too you know. I offered Keto to look after you while you were sleeping” Mike said. “Oh...ok” I said and begun to stretch myself. I rubbed my eyes and got up. “Morning Keto” I said in my head to see if I could reach him with that. “Oh you’re awake. Morning Max” Keto said. I turned towards Mike and he got up, too. “You wanted to tell me something yesterday but….. I kinda fell asleep” I said to him. “Yeah me too. Let me think for a second” Mike said and begun to think. “Ahhh can’t remember….. Shit….. Well it wasn’t that important if I already forgot it” Mike said. “You’ll remember it later” I said. “Probably……..anyways. If Kabe and Keto are back with us, we will fly back to Rockfort. I need some supplies if we want to stay outside of the city. I’ll expect them any second now” Mike said. Right in this moment, I heard steps and a few seconds later, Kabe and Keto stood before us. “Right in time. We should go now” Mike said. I nodded and got on Keto’s back. “Oh before I forget it. We’ll make a quick stop at the next lake or water source in general” Mike said. “Ok. We’ll be right behind you” Keto said. He turned towards me “hold yourself good” he said and we began to walk out of the cave. Sunlight blinded me when we were outside and I raised an arm. “Let’s go” Mike said loud and our dragons begun to fly. This feeling of flying through the sky…. I knew that I would never grew tired of it. It was just so wonderful. I saw Mike on Kabe’s back right in front of us. He looked just sooooo cool. Pictures of me and Keto, the legendary duo came to my mind. I was relaxing in a shining, cool looking armor. Keto was labeled with the same cool looking mark as Kabe and he wore an armor, too. We fought the darklings and they were afraid of us. The people would cheer up whenever we entered the battlefield. “Everything ok Max?” a sudden voice in my head asked. I jumped a bit and saw embarrassed that Keto was looking at me the entire time. “Yeah yes…. everything is alright” I said quickly but I began to blush. “What did you thought?” he asked smiling. “Nothing” I said quickly. “C’mon Max, you can tell me” Keto said. “No…. could you just turn around and look where we flying” I said. “But I want to know it” Keto said smiling but he turned around. “Fine fine….” I said and begun to tell him. “Hahaha….. It will take some time but this could be come true one day. We just need enough training and we need to keep working together” Keto said. “I will become at least just as strong as my brother one day” I said to Keto. “Well…. I think that you can surpass him one day with enough training” Keto said. “Really?” I asked surprised. “Yes I think so” Keto said. I smiled at him. Soon we were able to spot a little river and we landed right next to it. I jumped from his back and took a look around us. The river was quite exposed and the ground was very flat. “Shure that no one can see us?” I asked. “Pretty sure” Mike said and begun to fill his water bottles. “I think Max has a point. We are quiet in the open” Keto said and he begun to look around, too. “Ok ok… Max you can go under Keto’s belly so nobody can see you. I’m a tamer so I can explain stuff if somebody really sees us” Mike said. I was a bit confused but I followed his order. I sat down at the edge of the river and Keto sat himself down right behind me. His body almost completely covered mine but I could still drink the water and stuff. Now I was practically invisible. “Good and if somebody show up, Keto only need to lay himself down on top of you. Don’t worry he won't crush you…. just don’t panic. Have faith in Keto” Mike said. “Ok” I said. I leaned forward to drink some water, Keto had to bend over my body, he begun to drink something, too. Suddenly, Keto accidentally bumped me and I fell into the water. I quickly swam back to the surface and I gasped for air. I turned around and looked a bit shocked at Keto. “Did you just knocked me into the river?” I asked while coughing up water. “I’m sorry Max” Keto said and he grabbed me with his mouth. My entire head was inside his mouth and his teeth closed around my sensitive throat. His big, warm and wet tongue pressed against my cheek. I felt his hot breath and a thought crossed my mind. “He could swallow me at once with ease”. Finally, my feet felt the hard ground and Keto released me. I looked a bit shocked at him and he begun to lick me. “Man…. Keto you could have swallowed me completely… in one go” I said. “Want to try it out?” Keto said laughing and definitely ironic. “Yeah definitely. Getting eaten alive was one of the things I need to do before I die” I said just as ironic as Keto. “Then let's go” Keto said and bended his head down. “NO NO NO” I said quickly and casted a shield spell around me. “It was a joke Keto” I said. Keto begun to laugh and stroke over my shield with his hand. “Don’t worry I already knew that” he said and I stopped my spell. “Guys c'mon we have to reach the city today” Mike said to us. “Fine” Keto and I said simultaneously. I got on Kabe’s back and we continued the fly. After quite some time, I could see the Citi walls of Rockfort again. We landed near my first landing with Keto and I turned towards him. “Thanks *hug* See you later” I said. “I think it is the best for us if Kabe and Keto circle over us in the clouds” Mike said. “Good idea” Keto and Kabe said and their both flew away. “They can watch us from above. Let us go Max” Mike said and we walked to the gates. “Ok I’ll get some food for the next days and you can buy stuff that you like….. Maybe a real armor would be grate” Mike said when we were inside. “Oh yeah because I can simply go to the next guy and buy it. Don’t worry I’m planning on getting a new armor soon” I said. We separated ourselves and I walked over the street. I didn’t looked for anything particular and I hoped that I would meet Nick and Neka. Suddenly, I heard quiet whimpering, and sniffing, it sounded like somebody was crying. I turned my head to the source of the noise and I saw somebody. A little white feline cub sat on a crate and he cried. I quickly looked around but he was ignored by all the people that passed by. I think that is was very rude from them so I walked to him. He had a snow-white fur and just a little bit of black at his ears. The little cub had blue eyes and a little black nose. “Hey what’s the matter?” I asked softly and I sat down in front of him. He jumped a bit and he looked at me a bit scared. He was very young…. maybe 6-9 years old. “Who are you?” he asked scared. “My name is Max but who are you?” I asked and I tried to be friendly. “My name is Kiba” he said not so scared anymore. “Hey Kiba, what happened?” I asked and slowly begun to stroke his arm to calm him down. “I lost my parents. We walked over the marketplace, I just looked away for one second, and suddenly… they were gone. I ran over the complete marketplace 3 times by now and I don’t know what to do now” he said and he wiped his tears. “Maybe I can help you with that. We can try to find your parents. They must be here somewhere. I’ll carry you and you calm down for a minute ok?” I said to him. “You would do that for me?” he asked and a bright smile appeared on his face. “Sure. Just sit down on my shoulder” I said and I showed him my back. He quickly jumped on it and sat himself down. He wrapped his paws around my forehead and I could feel a slight shiver from him. “Calm down” I said and I began to stroke his head. He definitely liked it and he begun to purr and smile. “I think I saw your parents before….let me think for a minute or two” I said and he nodded. “Hey Keto you still there?” I asked Keto in my head. “Shure and let me guess. You ask me to look for his parents right?” he asked. “Finally a chance to prove me how good your eyes are” I said and I looked up into the sky. I couldn’t see him and I expected that he and Kabe flew inside the clouds to hide. “Why are you looking into the sky?” Kiba asked me after a few seconds. “Oh sorry I’m trying to remember where I saw them” I said. “Found them! They look exactly like their son on your shoulders and they are definitely looking for something. Move forward and then take a right” Keto said. “Thanks” I said to him. “Mhhh let us see” I said and begun to follow Keto’s advices. We arrived at a big place and it was crowded with people. “To your left” Keto said and I looked to my left. I saw two feline adults that looked very similar to Kiba and they were looking for something. “Are that your parents?” I asked Kiba and I pointed at them. He followed my finger and saw his parents. “YES THEY ARE” Kiba said loud. “MOM DAD” he yelled and the two felines looked around. They saw us and quickly ran to us. “Kiba” they said and quickly picked him up from my shoulder. They pulled him in a very tight hug and I saw a happy family united. A sting went through my heart and I found myself confronted with the fact that I don’t have a real family. Suddenly, they pulled me in a hug, too. “Thank you so much, you found our son. You earned yourself a reward” the father said. “Oh no. I’m happy to help and it’s kinda my job to help” I said overwhelmed. “We can’t leave you here without a reward” his mom said. “No it’s really fine” I said. “Ok but if you ever need something…. maybe some healing herbs come around at our shop. We promise to help you if you ever need something” she said and that was a much better offer. “Max will definitely need something sooner or later. He is a mage and therefor very strong and brave” little Kiba said and I laughed. “Good observation Kiba. Yes I am a student mage and therefor happy to accept this reward. Chapter 3 The basics of a tamer



I should have made this disclaimer long ago but I’ll just place it here.

I was sleeping really deep but suddenly I had a strange dream. I raised my head but I was big…. very big. I saw a dragon that laid before me. After a while, I realized that it was Kabe. “Argh” I made that sound with my mouth bit I didn’t made it….. It felt so weird. “Something wrong?” Kabe ask and he looked at me. “Yeah… I can feel Max inside my head but he is completely unresponsive and I can’t reach him” my mouth said. “Oh don’t worry. Let me explain it. If Max thinks about you in the last moment before he fell asleep, his mind will connect to yours unwillingly. It feels like a dream for him and you are feeling the connection between you two. I hope for you that it doesn't bother you that much. You can’t blame him for thinking about you, especially because your connection is so young. On the other side…. you prevent him from having nightmares” Kabe said. “Yeah you are right…. can’t blame him for thinking about me… I’m thinking of him, too” my mouth said and I slowly begun to realize that “my mouth” was Keto. “But if you want, I can look if he is really sleeping” Kabe offered. “How can you do that?” Keto asked. “Mike and I can partially remote control our bodies. I can take the control over his, even when he sleeps” Kabe explained. “Wow” said Keto impressed. Kabe begun to laugh. “Don’t worry, you will learn this soon enough. On the other side it is hard to perfect this technic” said Kabe and he closed one eye. “What the?” Kabe said suddenly. “Is something wrong?” Keto asked and he raised his head. “NO don’t move!” Kabe said quickly. Keto froze immediately and just looked worried to Kabe. “Oh no nothing bad but Max is so deeply connected with you that he is mimicking every movement form you. You should see how he sits on their bed” Kabe said. “Oh….. Ok and what should I do?” Keto asked a bit confused. “I can either wake up Mike, so he can wake up Max or you have to lay down on your back” Kabe said. “You can’t just wake Max?” Keto asked. “Nah, not a great Idea. Look, you can see that I closed one eye. Mike has now one eye open and I can look through that eye. The dragon marking has completely took over his iris and if I wake Max in this state, I will scare the shit out of him. It just looks weird if someone sleeps and simultaneously looks at you with one glowing, green eye” Kabe explained. “Oh yeah you will probably wake up the entire inn, too” said Keto and thought about it. “No let Mike sleep. I’ll just lay down and relax” Keto said. After some adjustments from Kabe, Keto finally laid on his back and relaxed. “Oh by the way, He won’t remember that he was in your mind. Just like a dream, he will forget it pretty quickly after he woke up” Kabe said. Keto nodded and they both waited. Keto was trying to get into a more comfortable position but that was difficult. Keto moved his arm a bit and that was a mistake. “Oh now you punched Mike right in his face…. you know I could have woke him up friendlier” Kabe said laughing. “Are you serious?” Keto asked in shock. “Yeah one moment I’ll tell him” Kabe said quickly and he closed his eyes. Keto waited but suddenly the world around me was shaken and I woke up. I saw a Mike and he rubbed his cheek with one hand and with the other, he woke me up. “Oh I’m so sorry. I didn’t wanted...” I said immediately but Mike cut me off. “Do I have to cuff you, if I want some sleep?” he asked but I saw his smile. “I’m sorry Max” Keto said inside my head. “It’s ok Max but hold still for a moment” Mike said and he begun to reposition us. Now my complete back leaned against his front and he wrapped his arms around me to hold my hands in place. “Now you can wiggle as much as you want, I won’t get hit again” Mike said with a smile. I opened my mouth to say something but he was quicker. “That was a joke Max. Relax and try to sleep again” Mike said and he stroke my cheek with one hand. I nodded and closed my eyes jet again. After some minutes, we both fell asleep again.

The morning came and the sun rose over the horizon. I woke up and saw that my little brother was still asleep. I gently stroke his cheek and he grunted softly. “Wake up Max” I said quietly. “Only 5 more minutes big brother” he replied tired. I smiled and thought about it for a second. “Ok but only 5 minutes” I said. He turned around and happily cuddled himself in my fur. I stroke his head a bit until he fell asleep again. “Ok Max you can sleep but I need to get up” I said quietly and I carefully got up. I stretched my arms and my body and a big yawn escaped my mouth. “Morning Mike” Kabe said in my head. “Morning Kabe, everything all right?” I asked him while I went for the bathroom. “Besides the attack from Max? Yeah I think so” Kabe said laughing. “Yes yes I know... How is Keto?” I asked. “He’s doing fine” Kabe said and I saw how he turned towards him. “Good. I’ll release my bladder real quick and take a shower” I said. After a very long shower (it takes some time to clean my entire fur) I went back to our room. Max was still sleeping but now it was time to get up. “C’mon Max get up” I said and I nudged him slightly. “That was not 5 minutes” Max said. “Yes, more like an hour. Come On get up” I said smiling.

“...Come on get up” said Mike and I saw that he was smiling at me. I gave up and I got up. I stretched myself and turned towards Mike. “You should take a shower Max. Oh and by the way… Where is your blue neckerchief?” Mike asked. “Oh it is in my bag. I took it off before I climbed a mountain. I thought it would be in my way while climbing. But you are right, I’m a bit dirty” I said while looking at my fur. It was a bit cluttered and a bit of dry mud was sticking in it. “Morning Max” Keto’s voice said in my head. I jumped a little bit and Mike smiled at me. “You’ll get used to it” he said. “Morning” I said to Keto in my head. “Finally awake?” Keto said and I could feel his smile. “Yeah” I replied but I turned my attention towards Mike. “Ok I’ll take a shower” I said to him.  “Good... oh and use your magic to heat the water. The inn is quite full and we can heat the water in other ways. The other guests then have more for themselves” Mike said. “Ok” I said and went out.

After Max went out, I sat down on a chair and thought a little bit. “What should I teach them first?” I asked Kabe. “That’s a good question” Kabe said. “Maybe I’ll test his strength first. I want to see if he got stronger in the time between our last training” I said while still thinking about it. After a good hour, Max came back. “Ahhh someone has another fur color besides dirt” I said to him smiling. “Ha ha very funny Mike” he said and he sat down on the bed. “Ok I would say, that we are eating some launch and then we go to Kabe and Keto” I said to Max. “Good Idea” he replied. “Good then let’s go” I said and I got up. Max got up, too but he quickly put on his neckerchief and I had to smile. We both went out of our room and downstairs. It was early in the morning so I didn’t expected a lot of people and I was right. The bar and all the tables were empty. Just the owner was here and that really surprised me. “Morning” he said friendly. “Do you ever sleep?...... morning” I added quickly. He begun to laugh “yes I do sir” he said laughing. I wanted to say something but suddenly something in my body told me that he wasn’t the same person from yesterday and I looked a bit confused and probably disapproving. “I see that you are getting behind my secret but before you came to the wrong conclusion I’ll better tell you. I’m not the owner you met yesterday. You met my twin brother” he said. “ahhhh” I said and I relaxed. “Yeah it is a little trick that we do. We are triplets but we want to make everyone believe that we are one person. Oh and by the way. My brother told Master Kyle the massage you told him” he said. “Oh thanks” I said. “A little bit empty” Max said and he looked around. “It is early in the morning sir. I don’t expect many people until nine or 10 o’clock. However, you are most likely here to eat some launch. Should I make some?” he asked. “That would be great” I said. “Good, sit down and I’ll be back in a few minutes” he said. “Thanks” Max and I said simultaneously and we went for a table. We sat down and Max looked at me. “So ammm…. What are we doing now?” he said and I got an idea what he meant by that. “Oh shit I didn’t told you yesterday. I got a week off and I wanted to train you and Keto a bit” I said. Max begun to smile and I saw his big smile on his face. “A whole week?” he asked happy. “Yeah that’s the plan but of cause if something happens, I have to go earlier” I said. “Yeah but it is most likely going to be a whole week” Max said. “Yes a whole week just to train my little brother…… I can’t imagine a better vacation” I said smiling. “Wait that’s your VACATION?” Max asked shocked. “Yes but….” I began but I didn't get any further. “NO, you can’t just sacrifice your only vacation time for me. I know that you don’t have that much free time and a vacation is for relaxing” Max said shocked. He wanted to continue but I held his mouth shut. “Max relax, I can decide on my own how I spend my free time. Besides that, I can’t think of a way to relax better than to teach my brother a few new things. Max, if I did not want to, I would have said something long ago” I said. Max still looked at me kinda sad. “Ahhh Max” I just said and stroke his head a bit. “I just don’t like the Idea that you sacrifice everything just for me. You should relax a bit with Kabe” He said a bit sad. “Don’t worry, I’m getting my relaxing because I won’t teach you that much in terms of combat. For that we don’t have the time” I said. However, in this moment the owner came back with a plate of delicious food. There was a large selection of food, many different types of meat, eggs, a loaf of bread, and many different vegetables. “Here, enjoy your meal” the owner said. “Let’s move our argumentation to later” I said and we began to eat.  The food was just delicious and there was enough for both of us. We both ate a lot and when we were done, the owner came back. “Was everything all right?” he asked us but it was a bit useless because we looked very happy and well fed. “It was really delicious” We both said and I grabbed my gold bag to pay him. “No you don’t have to pay. You might not wear your armor right now but you are still a member of the combined forces” the pig said and he shook his head. “It is one thing to let us sleep here for free but you can’t pay for our food, too. They can cut through almost everything” Mike said and moved his finger over the claws and cut himself in an instant. “Yes sharp and they are treated very well” Mike said and he healed his finger. I nodded but I looked at his pink palm. “It feels completely weird. You wouldn’t expect this kind of softness from such a great creature. It’s soft like a pillow but also strong like a rock” I said and looked up to Keto. After that, I just let me sink into the water again. Therefore, I continued the waiting game. One or two Minutes passed. Suddenly a hand pressed against my mouth and I got completely scared. A second hand wrapped itself around my chest and I looked over my shoulder. It was Alex, he found my and smiled at me. It was a good thing that he pressed his hand on my mouth because I would have exhaled my entire breath. He drew me closer to him and he begun to swim upwards. We surfaced and I gasped for air. “Good idea Max but please do me and your brother a favor. Don’t do that with your nose again. One little wave would be enough to make you swallow a bunch of water and you could drown” Alex said. “Ok” I said a bit sad. He stroke my head and begun to swim with me back to Mike. He was waiting at us and he helped Alex out of the water. “Oh Max…..” Mike begun but Alex cut him off “I already told him that” he said. I looked around and I saw a big dragon standing just a few meters away from us. “mhh I can’t remember that happening” a more mature voice said in my head. “So you can see me?” the dragon asked. “Is he talking to me?” the mature voice said. “Max wake up. You’re sleeping” the dragon said. I closed my eyes for a moment, nothing more than a blink. Suddenly, I stood before him and I was grown up again. I turned around and saw our little group but now I could see my younger self. “Keto are you inside my head? What are you doing in my…. memory…. or dream?” I asked. “I don’t know. We were relaxing and suddenly I landed here and saw you running away” Keto said. “Where are we?” he added and he looked around. “We are….. In Luma…. my former home” I said but at the end I felt a sting in my heart. “Luma…. why did I heard that name before?” Keto asked. “Probably because you heard that it was destroyed” I said and a very painful sting went through my heart. Tears started to drop from my eyes and it just hurts, to think about the live I could have had. Now I couldn’t hold back anymore and I started to cry. With every tear, the pain only seems to get worse and the once wonderful dream transformed into a nightmare. We suddenly stood at the burning village in the middle of Mike and my escape. I raised my head and saw it again. Our parents were grabbed by the darklings. “NOOOO” My little counterpart screamed but I screamed, too. Suddenly something closed around me and it took me a few seconds to realize that Keto closed his wings around me and that he has warped his arms around me. He held me in a tight hug and tried to comfort me. It took me a while but I slowly came down again. “Thank you” I said quietly to Keto. “It’s ok Max, calm down…...You can’t change your past” Keto said and he continued to stroke my body and head. It really helped and I slowly relaxed again. Suddenly the world shake around us and we woke up……


“Mhhh…. a difficult vote this time” Kabe said to me while we flew back to the mountain. “Yeah…. and the first time since…….. We came closer really fast but suddenly, Kabe stopped the dive. “Is he sleeping?” Kabe asked. I took another look and…. this was possible. “Ok then stay quiet. We don’t want to wake them” I said and we landed very quietly. I carefully jumped from Kabe’s back and slowly made my way to Keto. Now I could hear him snoring and it was a huge relief. Keto laid in a coil around Max and I could see that they both were connected to each other. Keto held one wing above Max, kinda like a cover or a lid. It was clearly to protect Max but I wanted to know something. “Let’s see if your heartbeat synced up” I quietly said and with a spell, I could hear both heartbeats. Both were completely alike and so they were asleep and connected. “Their minds are fully linked. I wonder what they are dreaming” I said to Kabe. “I can’t tell you” Kabe said. “I know…… but let us watch them” I said and I laid myself against Kabe’s belly and we began to cuddle a bit. We just observed the two a bit. I noticed that their movement changed. Before, they just laying completely still but now they were moving slightly. I watched them for a few minutes but it got worse by the minute. Now I could hear Max moaning and grunting in his sleep. He didn't seem to feel very well. Keto moved, too but he didn’t made the noises. A few minutes later, Max suddenly screams for a moment and that was a signal. I quickly got up and begun to wake them up. “MAX, KETO wake up!” I said to them. They grunted and quickly got up. “Hey everything alright?” I said and I went under Keto’s wing and sat myself besides Max. I got a bad feeling and it should be confirmed. Max begun to cry a bit and I wrapped my arms around him. Keto closed us in and we all comfort Max. Kabe was a bit left out be he was ok with that. Max stopped crying rather quickly and he looked up to me. “Sorry” he just said while wiping off his tears. “It’s ok Max. We are here with you” I said because I had a feeling what his nightmare was.

A few minutes passed and I calmed down. “Should we continue?” Mike asked. “Yes” I said quickly and I got up. I tried to forget what I saw and Mike helped me with that. “Ok Max….. Then let's find out how strong you got” Mike said and he begun to quickly put on his armor. I quickly got to my bag and begun to put on my own, too. Mike drew his sword after that. “Just you and me. Don’t hold back” he said. I nodded and drew my sword, too. Kabe and Keto took a few steps back and they watched us interested. “Ready?” Mike asked. “Shure, let’s go” I said and opened our dual with a fireball right at Mike. He easily blocked it with his shield spell. Our dual was very intense. To be honest Mike could kill me easily because he was well more trained but he didn’t hold back that much. Mike was surprised how strong I became over the last year. Mike swing his sword right at me and that was a big mistake. He exposed himself very severe. I dodged his attack and when his arm past me I concentrated my magic in my left hand. An orb of blue energy formed and I smashed it right at Mike’s chest armor. It send him completely flying but I miscalculated my power. I just wanted him to be at the cliff but he flew way over the edge and down the mountain. “MIKE!” I screamed in shock and Keto and I ran to the edge. Just before we reached the edge, a green lightning bolt flew upwards. My eyes opened wide and my jaw dropped when I looked up. Mike just flew over our heads. He made a looping and landed with a loud boom right before me. His entire body was covered in green fire that he wore like an armor. He had green, burning wings on his back and his eyes glow completely green. It just looked awesome and I felt the heat that emanated from him. “Could you do me one favor Max? Please don’t try to kill me” he said but I saw his smile. “What is that?” I just said breathless. “This is called the “dragon form” it allows a tamer do be very strong for a short period of time. OH and OUR FIGHT ISN’T OVER JET DEFEND YOURSELF” Mike screams to me and he inhaled very deep. I had a feeling what he was about to do and I quickly covered myself in a shield spell. Suddenly, Mike spited fire at me! Just like a real dragon. It hit my shield and I felt that deadly heat again but this time, my shield held. Mike stopped and he saw that I laid on the ground, heavy panting because of the incredible heat but still able to fight. I felt that Keto was about to go into the fight. “No Keto that is a fight between me and Mike” I said to him. “But it is so unfair. A few minutes later Mike tricked me and I fell on my back. Laying down on the could stone. He quickly sat down on my cheat and I felt his heavy armor. “Ok but I think our fight is now over Max” Mike said but I wasn’t done yet. I wrapped a leg around his and rolled over. Now I was on top of him and I wanted to try something. I grabbed his cheeks with my hand and concentrated myself to get into his mind. The only problem was that Mike’s metal defense was much stronger than I thought and even though I caught him off guard, he instantly kicked me out of his head. “Should I return the favor?” He said and grabbed my thighs. I stretched my head upwards, a shiver went through my body, and I felt a feeling that I didn’t felt in a long time. All my stress, my problems, my fears and just everything flew out of my mind. It felt so wonderful and relaxing. I really forgot how great it felt when someone controls your mind. I knew that Mike did it but I knew that I could trust him. I heard both of us heavily panting and I just looked into the sky. “Relax Max, you have done well today” Mike said with a soft voice and he began to stroke my belly. “Just submit yourself to your older brother” he said and so I did. I laid myself on top of him and our bellies pressed against each other. “How are you Max?” Mike asked while he stroke my head. “I’m almost out of magic and I expect a magic vacuum any second now. I feel tired, too” I said while resting on Mike. “Max you know that you are being mind controlled?” Keto asked in my head but I just ignored it. “You did an amazing job Max. I’m really surprised how strong you are now…. the only thing I need to address is your mental defense. I know that you explained me why I’m able to get in so easily but that isn’t an excuse” Mike said. “I know but I can’t change it” I just said. “MAX WAKE UP” Keto yelled in my head. “Could you stop screaming in my head” I yelled at Keto but I said it out loud. “I’m afraid Keto but I think that Max isn’t going to wake up anytime soon. I’ll explain it later….. But I want to try something. Connect yourself to Max and try to break my control” Mike said. “Umm…. ok” Keto said and he moved towards us. I turned around and showed him my belly. Keto looked confused but he slowly inserted his connection in my body. It took him less than one second to clear my mind and everything came back. To be honest I wasn’t that happy about it. The problem was that Keto felled that. “Did I do something wrong?” he asked me. “No no…. It something else” I quickly said now aware that he could feel my feeling, too. “Then tell me” Keto said worried. “Later ok?” I said. “Good” he said and I was happy that I didn't need to argue about that right now. “Sorry Mike but I explained it to you a thousand times now. You are the only person that can control me that easily. Ask Master Kyle if you don’t believe me” I said to Mike and I got up. “That’s still not an excuse Max” Mike said. He got up, too and he began to stroke my head. “But you still did a very good job Max. I’m very proud of you” Mike said. I turned towards him and we just hugged each other. “We should rest for a while. Lucky, you are familiar with drinking dragon milk” Mike said smiling. “Ok but I got some questions” I said while we went inside a little cave on the mountain. “Yeah, go ahead” Mike said. “The dragon form… what is that and can I do this, too?” I asked him. “Ok…… the dragon form is one of the strongest abilities that a tamer have and all tamers have it. I told you that Keto gave you a new organ called the blood organ. If it has grown up a bit, you can store dragon blood inside of it. You need dragon blood inside of your body for the form to work. You saw that you get kind of an armor in the color of your dragon and you will get his abilities, this includes flying, spitting fire, and your special ability which is breathing underwater in your case” Mike said but now the dragons laid down and we paused our conversation. “I’ll explain it after our meal” Mike said and I nodded. I sat down besides Keto and begun to drink his tasty milk. It had to be afternoon by now and I was quiet hungry. “So what’s about the mind control thing?” Keto asked in my head. “*sight* ok ok I’ll explain it. In a nutshell, Mike mind controlled me very often and very long in our past. He didn’t do it on purpose but he did it. I….. I…….. *sight* I kinda like it, too. It just feels soooo good. Nothing to worry about, nothing to fear and I’m trusting Mike 100%. I would explain it like a whitelist for my head but I ensure you that Mike is the only person on that whitelist and no other person could control me that easily. I’m sorry Keto” I said embarrassed. I knew that it wasn’t good thing to like it. “Well….. but it is a reason….. don’t worry Max. I’ll make sure that your head stays yours” Keto said and I smiled. “But keep drinking. You had a hard fight” Keto said and he stroke my back. I moaned quietly and continued to drink. I turned my head slightly to Mike and I could see him drinking, too. It was kinda strange to see him drinking the milk from Kabe. However, I turned back and continued drinking. I drank a lot of milk but I finally stopped and just laid myself on my back. Suddenly, Keto begin to lick over my belly and I stated to laugh. Mike and Kabe looked towards us and they both begun to laugh, too. I stopped Keto and looked confused at the two. “Sorry Max but….. Keto that was just too good” Mike said laughing. Now even Keto begun to laugh and I was the only one who didn’t get the joke. “What are you laughing about?” I asked. “Sorry Max…. licking the belly after the meal is a common thing….. but for a baby and his parents. It should stimulate the digestion. Keto labeled you as a baby” Mike said laughing. “I’m sorry” Keto said to me but the fact that he was laughing didn’t helped that much. “WOW…… thanks Keto” I said and I crossed my arms. “C’mon Max, don’t be sad. I didn’t to label you as a baby it was just….” bit he didn’t finished his sentence. I knew that he wanted to say “instinct” but that wouldn’t be that nice after all. Keto wrapped his wings and arms around me and I forgive him of cause. “I’ll have my revenge later” I said to him while hugging him. “Probably” Keto said smiling. “I know that you didn’t meant to be rude and you can keep doing it if you want” I said. “Thanks” Keto said. “I’m sorry to interrupt you two but I need to talk with you Max” Mike suddenly said and Keto released me. “What is it?” I asked Mike. “I wanted to talk with you about the whole dragon thing….. MAX PLEASE promise me that you keep it secret. NO ONE is allowed to know it except for Kabe and me……. and Master Kyle. Look….. you don’t want that kind of attention. Just keep quiet about it…. even Nick and Neka are not allowed to know it” Mike said really strict. “Why?” I asked surprised. “....I’m worried that the darklings get aware of you and your abilities. I’m not letting this happen” Mike said but he said it in a strange way…. aggressive but also deeply worried. “Relax Mike, we can trust Nick and Neka” I said to defend my friends. “It’s not their fault but…… Max listen, the darklings have an ability that they can mind control everybody and by “everybody” I mean EVERYBODY. There is only a small group of people that I can trust. . Hell I wouldn’t even consider myself to be able to withstand for a very long time. So in general, the less people know about Keto the better” Mike said. “Okay…..”I said slowly. I couldn’t argue against that. “Thanks…. I thought that this would be a difficulty argue but I was wrong. Ok but it’s getting late. We should decide if we stay the night here or we can go back to the inn” Mike said. “Already?” I said surprised. “Yeah it is almost evening and we should decide now” Mike said. “I want to stay with Keto” I said. “Good, I’ll bring back the key to our room and you stay here with Keto” Mike said. “Ok” I said. “I’ll be back in a few minutes. Get comfortable with Keto and stay low ok?” Mike said. “Ok” I replied. “See you both soon” Kabe said and they both went out. I looked at Keto and he laid himself down, inviting me to his side. I followed his invite and I sat down, leaning against his belly. I began to stroke him and he hummed in joy at me. I leaned against his warm and comfortable body and just relaxed. I felt that he connected himself to me and I just let it happen. “Oh by the way. The organ inside me….. How long does it take to grow?” I asked Keto. “A few weeks. Then it is not exactly grown up but big enough to be able to use the dragon form for a few seconds” Keto said. “Is it visible from the outside?” I asked. “No but you can feel it” Keto said. “Good…. shit I’m tired” I said and I released a big yawn. “Lay down and relax Max. I’ll keep you warm and secure” Keto said and he licked over my face. “Thanks Keto” I said and I got comfortable enough to sleep. I cuddled with Keto and slowly drifted away into sleeping. After a while, Keto could hear steps coming down the little cave. “Is that you Kabe?” Keto asked Kabe with telepathy. “Yes, don’t worry” Kabe said and a moment later he stood in front of Keto. Kabe saw that I was asleep and he began to smile. “So our two little warriors are taking a nap” said Kabe smiling and he showed Keto his back. Mike laid on his back, his cheek was against Kabe’s skin, his arms were hanging left and right from Kabe and he quietly snored. “I think their fight with each other drained a lot of energy from them” Kabe said. “Definitely true” Keto replied smiling. Kabe begun to connect himself with Mike. Then he carefully picked Mike up with his mouth and begun to lay himself down right next to Keto. Suddenly, Mike opened one eye, it was completely green, and a slight shiver went through Keto’s body. “What are you doing?” Keto asked confused. “I’m controlling him. He needs to undress his armor before sleeping. Otherwise he will wake up with pain” Kabe said and Keto watched how Mike begun to undress his armor while sleeping. It looked a bit ridiculous how one eye was closed and the other one was open and completely green. “So that’s how it looks when you control your tamer?” Keto asked. “Yes indeed. The dragon marking in his eye has….. “Take over his eye”..... Yeah you could say that. However, now I can control his entire body without him waking up, as you can see right now” Kabe said and Keto watched how Mike undressed himself. After that he cuddled himself into Kabe and begun to sleep. “don’t worry, soon you will be able to do that yourself with Max” Kabe said. “How long will it take?” Keto asked. “That’s a good question…… I think tomorrow or the day after tomorrow Kabe said. “So fast?” Keto asked surprised. “Yes but the real challenge is to do it without the connection. Even Mike and I are not able to do this completely without the connection. I can move him, he can move me and we can do very basic tasks but nothing more. For example laying down don’t work, Mike always collapses when I try this just over our heads. It is difficult” Kabe said. “Well it sounds difficult, too” Keto said. “Enough talking for today. Get some sleep Keto, I’ll guard our little cave because Mike wasn’t able to cast our normal shield spells” Kabe said. “Oh…..thanks” Keto said and he managed to sleep within 10 minutes.


The next day came and I slowly opened one eye. I expected to see Keto but I was surprised. My head was on Mike’s chest instead of Keto’s. “Morning little one” Mike said smiling and he stroke my shoulder. “Mhhh….. I could have sworn that I fell asleep with Keto” I said while looking around. I noticed that Kabe and Keto weren't here. “Good thing you have slept very deeply. Kabe and Keto went out for hunting, they need to eat something, too you know. I offered Keto to look after you while you were sleeping” Mike said. “Oh...ok” I said and begun to stretch myself. I rubbed my eyes and got up. “Morning Keto” I said in my head to see if I could reach him with that. “Oh you’re awake. Morning Max” Keto said. I turned towards Mike and he got up, too. “You wanted to tell me something yesterday but….. I kinda fell asleep” I said to him. “Yeah me too. Let me think for a second” Mike said and begun to think. “Ahhh can’t remember….. Shit….. Well it wasn’t that important if I already forgot it” Mike said. “You’ll remember it later” I said. “Probably……..anyways. If Kabe and Keto are back with us, we will fly back to Rockfort. I need some supplies if we want to stay outside of the city. I’ll expect them any second now” Mike said. Right in this moment, I heard steps and a few seconds later, Kabe and Keto stood before us. “Right in time. We should go now” Mike said. I nodded and got on Keto’s back. “Oh before I forget it. We’ll make a quick stop at the next lake or water source in general” Mike said. “Ok. We’ll be right behind you” Keto said. He turned towards me “hold yourself good” he said and we began to walk out of the cave. Sunlight blinded me when we were outside and I raised an arm. “Let’s go” Mike said loud and our dragons begun to fly. This feeling of flying through the sky…. I knew that I would never grew tired of it. It was just so wonderful. I saw Mike on Kabe’s back right in front of us. He looked just sooooo cool. Pictures of me and Keto, the legendary duo came to my mind. I was relaxing in a shining, cool looking armor. Keto was labeled with the same cool looking mark as Kabe and he wore an armor, too. We fought the darklings and they were afraid of us. The people would cheer up whenever we entered the battlefield. “Everything ok Max?” a sudden voice in my head asked. I jumped a bit and saw embarrassed that Keto was looking at me the entire time. “Yeah yes…. everything is alright” I said quickly but I began to blush. “What did you thought?” he asked smiling. “Nothing” I said quickly. “C’mon Max, you can tell me” Keto said. “No…. could you just turn around and look where we flying” I said. “But I want to know it” Keto said smiling but he turned around. “Fine fine….” I said and begun to tell him. “Hahaha….. It will take some time but this could be come true one day. We just need enough training and we need to keep working together” Keto said. “I will become at least just as strong as my brother one day” I said to Keto. “Well…. I think that you can surpass him one day with enough training” Keto said. “Really?” I asked surprised. “Yes I think so” Keto said. I smiled at him. Soon we were able to spot a little river and we landed right next to it. I jumped from his back and took a look around us. The river was quite exposed and the ground was very flat. “Shure that no one can see us?” I asked. “Pretty sure” Mike said and begun to fill his water bottles. “I think Max has a point. We are quiet in the open” Keto said and he begun to look around, too. “Ok ok… Max you can go under Keto’s belly so nobody can see you. I’m a tamer so I can explain stuff if somebody really sees us” Mike said. I was a bit confused but I followed his order. I sat down at the edge of the river and Keto sat himself down right behind me. His body almost completely covered mine but I could still drink the water and stuff. Now I was practically invisible. “Good and if somebody show up, Keto only need to lay himself down on top of you. Don’t worry he won't crush you…. just don’t panic. Have faith in Keto” Mike said. “Ok” I said. I leaned forward to drink some water, Keto had to bend over my body, he begun to drink something, too. Suddenly, Keto accidentally bumped me and I fell into the water. I quickly swam back to the surface and I gasped for air. I turned around and looked a bit shocked at Keto. “Did you just knocked me into the river?” I asked while coughing up water. “I’m sorry Max” Keto said and he grabbed me with his mouth. My entire head was inside his mouth and his teeth closed around my sensitive throat. His big, warm and wet tongue pressed against my cheek. I felt his hot breath and a thought crossed my mind. “He could swallow me at once with ease”. Finally, my feet felt the hard ground and Keto released me. I looked a bit shocked at him and he begun to lick me. “Man…. Keto you could have swallowed me completely… in one go” I said. “Want to try it out?” Keto said laughing and definitely ironic. “Yeah definitely. Getting eaten alive was one of the things I need to do before I die” I said just as ironic as Keto. “Then let's go” Keto said and bended his head down. “NO NO NO” I said quickly and casted a shield spell around me. “It was a joke Keto” I said. Keto begun to laugh and stroke over my shield with his hand. “Don’t worry I already knew that” he said and I stopped my spell. “Guys c'mon we have to reach the city today” Mike said to us. “Fine” Keto and I said simultaneously. I got on Kabe’s back and we continued the fly. After quite some time, I could see the Citi walls of Rockfort again. We landed near my first landing with Keto and I turned towards him. “Thanks *hug* See you later” I said. “I think it is the best for us if Kabe and Keto circle over us in the clouds” Mike said. “Good idea” Keto and Kabe said and their both flew away. “They can watch us from above. Let us go Max” Mike said and we walked to the gates. “Ok I’ll get some food for the next days and you can buy stuff that you like….. Maybe a real armor would be grate” Mike said when we were inside. “Oh yeah because I can simply go to the next guy and buy it. Don’t worry I’m planning on getting a new armor soon” I said. We separated ourselves and I walked over the street. I didn’t looked for anything particular and I hoped that I would meet Nick and Neka. Suddenly, I heard quiet whimpering, and sniffing, it sounded like somebody was crying. I turned my head to the source of the noise and I saw somebody. A little white feline cub sat on a crate and he cried. I quickly looked around but he was ignored by all the people that passed by. I think that is was very rude from them so I walked to him. He had a snow-white fur and just a little bit of black at his ears. The little cub had blue eyes and a little black nose. “Hey what’s the matter?” I asked softly and I sat down in front of him. He jumped a bit and he looked at me a bit scared. He was very young…. maybe 6-9 years old. “Who are you?” he asked scared. “My name is Max but who are you?” I asked and I tried to be friendly. “My name is Kiba” he said not so scared anymore. “Hey Kiba, what happened?” I asked and slowly begun to stroke his arm to calm him down. “I lost my parents. We walked over the marketplace, I just looked away for one second, and suddenly… they were gone. I ran over the complete marketplace 3 times by now and I don’t know what to do now” he said and he wiped his tears. “Maybe I can help you with that. We can try to find your parents. They must be here somewhere. I’ll carry you and you calm down for a minute ok?” I said to him. “You would do that for me?” he asked and a bright smile appeared on his face. “Sure. Just sit down on my shoulder” I said and I showed him my back. He quickly jumped on it and sat himself down. He wrapped his paws around my forehead and I could feel a slight shiver from him. “Calm down” I said and I began to stroke his head. He definitely liked it and he begun to purr and smile. “I think I saw your parents before….let me think for a minute or two” I said and he nodded. “Hey Keto you still there?” I asked Keto in my head. “Shure and let me guess. You ask me to look for his parents right?” he asked. “Finally a chance to prove me how good your eyes are” I said and I looked up into the sky. I couldn’t see him and I expected that he and Kabe flew inside the clouds to hide. “Why are you looking into the sky?” Kiba asked me after a few seconds. “Oh sorry I’m trying to remember where I saw them” I said. “Found them! They look exactly like their son on your shoulders and they are definitely looking for something. Move forward and then take a right” Keto said. “Thanks” I said to him. “Mhhh let us see” I said and begun to follow Keto’s advices. We arrived at a big place and it was crowded with people. “To your left” Keto said and I looked to my left. I saw two feline adults that looked very similar to Kiba and they were looking for something. “Are that your parents?” I asked Kiba and I pointed at them. He followed my finger and saw his parents. “YES THEY ARE” Kiba said loud. “MOM DAD” he yelled and the two felines looked around. They saw us and quickly ran to us. “Kiba” they said and quickly picked him up from my shoulder. They pulled him in a very tight hug and I saw a happy family united. A sting went through my heart and I found myself confronted with the fact that I don’t have a real family. Suddenly, they pulled me in a hug, too. “Thank you so much, you found our son. You earned yourself a reward” the father said. “Oh no. I’m happy to help and it’s kinda my job to help” I said overwhelmed. “We can’t leave you here without a reward” his mom said. “No it’s really fine” I said. “Ok but if you ever need something…. maybe some healing herbs come around at our shop. We promise to help you if you ever need something” she said and that was a much better offer. “Max will definitely need something sooner or later. He is a mage and therefor very strong and brave” little Kiba said and I laughed. “Good observation Kiba. Yes I am a student mage and therefor happy to accept this reward. It is more valuable than any gold” I said. We said goodbye to each other and I wandered off.
