Beside Niels, the pet, red-furred husky. The college kid was being treated like a [i]dog[/i], in front of everyone in the dog park.\n\nBut that's just because they didn't know he [i]wasn't[/i]. He was the spitting image of a stray German Shepherd, four legs and all, nothing to distinguish him from the mindless husky that even now spared him a butt-sniff, walking side-by-side with him. He wasn't humiliated. He wasn't embarrassed. He was [i]cheering[/i] inside, his tail wagging as he followed Mom and her young daughter.\n\nJuno stumbled alongside her mother, falling behind and then walking briskly to catch up, wiping tears from her eyes. Niels hadn't meant to leave her leaking tears, though it was an acceptable cost to leave her leaking beneath the tail. He'd gotten a lead on a Pom who liked to fuck dogs, only to misread the twelve-year-old Shiba as her. Juno, not Ginny, had been the recipient of his attention, a curious but inexperienced little girl not at all ready for what the college boy had been after. He'd taken her in the bushes, only to get caught at the last second tying the little bitch, in her heat. Knocked up in front of a half-dozen park goers and her own [i]parents[/i], she could barely focus on the sidewalk ahead, her little green skirt showing off her damp panties to the very male who'd given her her first creampie.\n\nThe perfect crime. They thought he was just a dog, not a predator, and they could hardly blame a full-blooded GSD for going to town on a bitch in heat. Her words were clipped and short, glancing meaningfully at their daughter, who'd [i]just been raped[/i].\n\nJiro grumbled, but it was Juno who spoke up. ``Kuromame.''\n\nThey both looked at their daughter for a few seconds. ``That's a good name,'' Dad exclaimed.\n\nJuno smiled, rubbing against her mother.\n\n``Well,'' Jiro said, ``Beanie needs to do her business. And so might Kuro. You two go on ahead. Perhaps not, thought the college kid. But Beanie didn't seem to mind, squishing her red-furred hips down to the ground and letting it out. Still, Jiro waited, but despite Niels needing to pee pretty bad, he wasn't gonna. They'd just have to let him out when they got home. Might be a prime chance to jump the fence and get out of there. ``Suit yourself,'' Dad said, and like that, they were off, the girls now a fair distance ahead.\n\n``You got a new dog!?'' was the first thing Niels heard when he arrived at their house a block and a half away.\n\nThe owner of the voice was a young Shiba boy who [i]looked like[/i] he was twelve, but since he was definitely older than Juno, was probably fourteen or fifteen. He didn't know what had happened, or why they suddenly had a stray dog with them, so he didn't know not to be excited. ``Woah! C'mere, girl! What's her name?''\n\n``Go on, get Juno washed up, Hikari.'' While Juno limped into the house before the boy caught an unfamiliar scent and asked too many questions, Jiro said, ``[i]His[/i] name is Kuromame. Kuro for short. And we're only keeping him for a few days.''\n\nNiels could see the disappointment in the high schooler's eyes. ``But that's a perfect name. Black bean, to go with Beanie.''\n\nHe reached down to pet Niels, and the college student had to resist the urge to pull away. He was undercover still. What would a dog do? He wagged his tail and perked up his ears, pushing against the young boy and hopping up and down. But when Beanie took the chance for another sniff, Niels still couldn't bring himself to sniff back. He pretended he was too overwhelmed with the scratches and pets he was getting.\n\n``Where'd he come from?''\n\nDad sighed, trying to figure out how much to say. He settled on, ``Akito. He's actually a stray from the dog park, though he looks purebred. He... bit Juno a little. Just playfully! But we're going to get him checked out for rabies before we send him to the shelter. [i]Do you?[/i]'' Akito exclaimed, rubbing Niels' thicker neck fur.\n\n[i]You know, it didn't feel too bad, actually,[/i] Niels decided.\n\nHaving avoided the hard part, Jiro relaxed. ``Let's head inside.''\n\n* * * * *\n\nDinner seemed positively normal.\n\nJuno, freshly bathed and washed, sat in her pajamas in a chair too tall for her legs to reach, eating peas and fried pork cutlet, while the parents chatted around the table about Akito's day. Had he done his homework? Yes. Niels watched from the floor, alongside Beanie, who seemed trained not to beg. He knew they'd probably try to serve him dog food, and he'd have to eat it. After all, what kind of undercover dog wouldn't eat kibble?\n\nThe one thing that didn't come up was the rape. Or the rapist, lying calmly on the floor. Juno seemed to be coping pretty well, at least on the outside. They let him out alone, but even so Niels couldn't find a valid escape route. He'd have to try to sneak out at night. Still, the doors to the house seemed to have the appropriate dog-level handles for four-leggers, as required by the Americans with Different Appendages bill. Assuming they weren't child-locked, Niels would be out by midnight. He peed on a vine that worked its way up the wall, looking forward to his total victory at home, in bed.\n\nThe evening went by quickly enough, though Niels took note of Jiro's phone call to the vet. Apparently, there was no non-invasive test for rabies, but if Nie -[i] Kuro[/i] didn't show any symptoms for ten days, they were definitely in the clear.
