"writing": " \"Ladies and gentleman, welcome back to the JRC '17. We've just witnessed the biggest upset of the tournament thus far with Frahzen knocking out Demi in the Quarter-Finals.\" The announcer's voice boomed through the stadium to the cheers and shouts from the buzzing stadium-goers.\n\n \"And what a spectacular match it was. After Demi's Absol managed to go 2-0 against Frahzen's Electabuzz and Magmar, his Scyther swiped the victory against Absol, Masquerain, and Jynx.\" The second announcer's voice joined in as the pair appeared on the large monitors in their blue blazers at the desk.\n\n \"Jamison, where do you think Demi's loss came from? She's been such a powerhouse this tournament being the runner-up last year, and taking out 2015 and 2016 winners Cairo and Santos.\"\n\n \"Well Fletch, being favored to win the tournament doesn't make you undefeatable as we just saw. Her overconfidence might have cost her the victory. Absol just barely defeated Magmar, but she could have switched to Jynx instead of trying to have Absol finish out the match.\"\n\n \"Agreed, though we can't discount what Frahzen was able to do either. He coached remarkably and his Scyther was able to execute nearly flawless moves to seal a win.\"\n\n The entire stadium was cheering and raving as a few replays of the match between Frahzen and Demi played on the large screens hanging from the interior of the stadium. People wore gear from their favorite participants in the tournament and pennants flew back and forth bearing the name, or nickname, of the contestants.\n\n \"Well, on to our next match. 2016 Quarterfinalist, Kaynem, from Sunnyshore. His team features Luxray, Infernape, and Lopunny. He's been training since he was twelve, and got his first badge from the Sunnyshore City Gym at fourteen.\"\n\n Cheers erupted from all over the stadium as Kaynem's face was displayed on the screen as he entered from one of the tunnels. He was short for his age, nearly nineteen, and golden skin from growing up near the beach and spending a lot of his time outside. He had long, dirty-blond hair that was held back in a ponytail and big, brown eyes. He had yet to grow any facial hair, and looked all the younger for it.\n\n Kaynem tried to look tough and resolute, though it was difficult with his young face. He knew, too, that though the crowd cheered and applauded, almost none of the pennants or banners were for him. He wasn't a big name in the pkSports industry, and had only competed in two tournaments before the Johto Regional Cup last year, and neither were title-winners. All the same, it felt good to have a crowd cheering as he entered.\n\n \"And,\" Jamison, one of the announcers, continued. \"At the opposite end, from Fuchsia, we have Lessan, one of the 2016 semi-finalists, and winner of the 2017 Hoenn Winter League. Today he brings with him Ampharos, Clefable, and Charizard. He grew up helping out in the Safari Zone, and began entering tournaments when he was sixteen.\"\n\n Lessan strode forward, chin held high as people shouted and cheered. More than a few pennants waved in the air bearing the green and red of his signature colors with his name embroidered in black. He'd gotten popular since his big win in the tournament earlier in the year, and his face had appeared on a few magazines around Kanto, especially. \n\n He was a year younger than Kaynem, and a good head taller. He had smooth, white skin and blue eyes. His hair was jet black and stylishly untidy. Both he and Kaynem were wearing black shorts with their own, personalized jersey. Lessan with number 81, and a jersey of green and red, Kaynem's with the number 25 in red and gold.\n\n Lessan had high cheekbones and a strong chin and was something of a favorite among the younger girls who followed pkSports. He took his spot at the end of the battlefield, staring across the dark stadium to the other spotlight where Kaynem was standing. \n\n Kaynem couldn't see his face from this distance, but the large screen showed the older boy wink at him, baring his teeth in a wolfish grin. Kaynem was glad that he wasn't on screen as his cheeks turned scarlet in response. They'd met the previous year at the 2016 JRC, and had stayed in loose contact since then, talking, flirting, and meeting up on occasion to battle or just hang out.\n\n A woman in referee outfit walked to the center of the large field, a spotlight following her until she was standing in the middle. Both Lessan and Kaynem took their cue and walked forward from the edges until they were standing in the center ring, designated by the pokeball painted on the stone field. \n\n \"Alright, you two know the rules. Lessan, you placed higher in last year's JRC so you get to call the coin toss,\" she said, producing a two-sided coin from her pocket. It was emblazoned with a pokeball on one side and JRC '17 on the opposite, and was one of the items in the little swag-bags that all contestants got for entering.\n\n Lessan glanced over at Kaynem, flashing him another grin. \"Alright then. I choose heads,\" he said, eyes on the boy with golden, tan skin. \n\n Kaynem felt his cheeks heating up and he turned his gaze back on the referee. She flipped the coin up into the air, the stadium lights glinting off the metallic sheen. It tumbled over and over before landing on the ground, spinning on its edge before finally landing with the pokeball facing up.\n\n \"Heads! Alright Lessan, would you like to summon first or defer?\" she asked, bending down to retrieve and pocket the coin.\n\n \"Defer,\" Lessan said, nodding to the ref.\n\n \"Alright, then back to your sides. Kaynem, please summon your first pokemon. Lessan, you'll summon second. The match will begin when I give the signal.\n\n Both trainers nodded without a word and turned away to stroll back to their respective sides. Kaynem's mind raced as he thought about who to send out first. Going second, Lessan would have the advantage of reacting to his first move, but Kaynem could try to force a particular matchup if he needed. He was most worried about Lessan's Charizard, so he wanted to keep his Luxray for that matchup. Likewise, sending Infernape out first might draw Charizard out, and the matchup might not go in his favor.\n\n He turned forward again, the lights in the stadium now illuminating the entire field instead of just shining on the people on the field. Kaynem drew in a deep breath, reached to his belt, and pulled off a yellow and black ball. It flashed open and Lopunny appeared, standing just over four feet next to him. \n\n Jamison, the dark-skinned announcer, was on it immediately. \"With Lessan deferring the opening to Kaynem, we see Lopunny coming out first! How will Lessan respond?\"\n\n In answer, Lessan picked off a typically-colored pokeball from his belt and threw it forward. With a loud roar, and the spreading of giant, black and red wings, Charizard appeared at the far end of the field. The abnormally colored Charizard was taller than Lessan and every breath it took sent out small puffs of smoke from its flared nostrils.\n\n \"There you have it, folks. Lessan's impressive, shiny Charizard! You don't get to see them often, and man is it a sight to behold when you do,\" Fletch said over the roar of the crowd.\n\n Kaynem's breath caught in his throat as he saw the black-skinned Charizard come free. Pokemon larger than even he was always intimidated him, and the black and red Charizard was no exception. His Lopunny, though, stood there, looking unimpressed with her cotton-ball hands crossed over her torso. Her calmness helped still Kaynem's nerves. \n\n \"Fletch, I'm excited. Are you excited? The first opening matchup is going to be riveting. Lopunny and Charizard. Jamison, remind the audience what we've seen so far from these two great pokemon so far.\"\n\n \"Well, Jamison, in round one we saw amazing play from Kaynem's Lopunny taking out Riptide's Steelix and Blastoise. Lessan's Charizard nearly three-oh'ed Cody's Gengar, Golem, and Machamp in round two. It'll be interesting to see just how these two titans do against one another.\"\n\n The referee looked from Lessan to Kaynem, holding a special, luminescent flag in one hand. The fibers shimmered and glistened as the light bounced off it. \"Ready?\" she called, waiting for the affirmative nod from both trainers. She raised the flag up above one head, waited a few seconds, and then brought it down in front of her. \"Go!\"\n\n The electric material of the flag beamed brightly and it set off the lights embedded in the stone that made up the boundaries of the field. It was a stunning display of the holographic material used for flash and style, and a very noticeable signal to start.\n\n The sheer speed of Lessan's Charizard was frightening. Its wings folded in close and in a spiraling lung forward it closed the distance of nearly fifty yards to only a couple feet in the blink of an eye. The black dragon's jaws opened wide and crunched down right where Lopunny's shoulder was a split second before. The lapine beast leapt high in the air and shot back to the ground with one leg extended, striking the dragon in the small of its back. \n\n Charizard roared out its pain and both wings shot to either side before Lopunny could land and flung her twenty yards towards one of the boundaries. She contacted the ground and came up in a roll as the dragon charged at her again.\n\n Kaynem grit his teeth, paws balled into fists as he watched the opening engagement. People who trained hard enough with their pokemon didn't need to give commands unless they might see a better opening than what their pokemon might. All the same it was difficult not to be a backseat driver in a match like this.\n\n Lopunny feinted to one side as the dragon bore down on her and swung her leg out, electricity wreathing her limb as she did so. It struck and the dragon let out a hideous roar as his body went rigid and rolled along the ground before struggling to his feet. \n\n Lessan shouted something from the opposite end of the stadium, but with the din of the crowd and the commentary from the announcers, Kaynem couldn't hear what was going on.\n\n \"An amazing opener. Seeing that blitz by Charizard,\" Jamison was saying.\n\n Fletch nodded, looking out along the field from where they watched above. \"Indeed. And the speed at which that Lopunny moves. She barely dodged and was able to deliver a solid kick, and then followed it up with an electrifying one that appears to have paralyzed Charizard!\"\n\n \"Indeed, that could spell big trouble for Lessan and his Charizard. They've relied on strength and speed to put away their opponents so far, and if Charizard is paralyzed they're going to have to resort to other tactics,\" Jamison said.\n\n \"And it looks like they are!\"\n\n Charizard, now on all fours, stomped the ground hard, fissures appearing in the stone working and splitting everything open as the stadium shook. If the earthquake wasn't enough, fire poured from all around the large dragon like liquid fire, filling those cracks and sharply raising the temperature in the arena.\n\n Lopunny had been running forward again when the earthquake hit and was thrown to the ground, almost tripping and falling into one of the fire-filled fissures. Kaynem sucked in a sharp breath, his lungs burning with the heat of the fire around him. \"Watch your step! Don't leap up high anymore!\" he called.\n\n Lopunny glanced over and nodded, and then darted forward again, her footing sure as she ran at the Charizard who was focusing on the fire and ground attack. The dragon's eyes were closed and Kaynem was sure that Lopunny could end it if she got there quick enough, but those enormous, black eyes snapped open at the last second and one of the clawed hands grabbed Lopunny's foot as it swung at his face. \n\n The crowd cheered and screamed as Charizard caught the rabbit in one, and then the other hand. Those jaws parted, teeth sparkling as Charizard's head snapped down to crunch at the caught prey. Lopunny was quicker and leaned up, mouth closed as its lips pursed into a kiss that caught the dragon's nose.\n\n Charizard's attack faltered and ceased all together as a look of pure infatuation came over the dragon. It blinked dreamily a few times down at the rabbit, suddenly passivized, and Lopunny took that moment to strike.\n\n Both its slender, fluffy feet came up to the dragon's chest and pushed off hard to break free of its grasp. She flipped over in the air, landed, and sprung forward once more, delivering a set of quick, electric kicks to the dragon's torso that sent it reeling backwards.\n\n \"Oh my god! The upsets we've seen here tonight!\" Jamison reported. \"We thought that Lopunny was done for after being caught by Charizard, but one quick kiss and it looks all over for Charizard now!\"\n\n Kaynem watched as Charizard toppled over and lay still on the ground, defeated. He felt his lips curling up at the sides as he grinned fiercely. The one pokemon he was most worried about was defeated, and it was on to the next. Lopunny rounded about until she was standing in front of Kaynem and Charizard was recalled and Ampharos suddenly appeared on the far end of the field.\n\n \"Goodness, we've had such a thrilling match in the first few minutes, let's see what Lessan decides is the next course of action,\" Fletch said.\n\n Jamison nodded, shuffling some papers to one side of the desk. \"Well Ampharos has been a huge boon to many of Lessan's opponents in tournaments, and I think Kaynem's Lopunny will be hard-pressed to take him down.\"\n\n Ampharos wasn't as fast as Lopunny, but charged forward all the same, hopping over the broken fissures in the ground that were now free of fire with Charizard gone. Lopunny ran forward as well, chocolate-brown paws balled into fists and ready to take the large creature on. As she closed the distance, Ampharos reared its head back and then stomped a foot on the ground, electricity spreading out in a thick wave.\n\n Lopunny had been ready for such an attack and leapt into the air to avoid the wave, aiming a kick at the ram-like pokemon. Bolts of lightning erupted from Ampharos at that instant and Lopunny couldn't change direction at all in midair. She was struck hard and sent reeling towards the ground where the electric field weakened her further.\n\n She was slow to get up and the roar of the crowd drowned out any sound from the battle. Lopunny couldn't hear Kaynem's cry of warning, and looked up too late to see the large pokemon slam down atop her, finishing her off.\n\n \"Oh my god! What a quick finish!\" Jamison called over the din. \"What will come now?\"\n\n Kaynem recalled Lopunny and threw forth Luxray to fight thunder with thunder. On all fours, the blue and yellow cat was nearly as big as the bipedal Ampharos. It streaked forward and got off a quick chomp to one of the ram's flanks before that tail turned to steel and smacked the cat a few yards away. Luxray was quick to get back up and charged forward again, delivering two quick back to back hits that nearly felled the large ram.\n\n Kaynem held his breath as Luxray went back in to finish the ram off but the ram drew back its fist as Luxray closed, and delivered a punch square to Luxray's forehead that flung the cat against the far boundary where he hit the holographic wall that protected the audience from any effects of the fight. \n\n \"Dynamic Punch!\" Fletch called out, his mic-enhanced voice nearly covered by the screams of the audience. \"Ampharos has just taken out its second victim in this quarter-final match! Kaynem only has Infernape left now.\"\n\n Kaynem's stomach was in knots as he sent Infernape into the fray. Unsurprisingly, Ampharos was switched out for Clefable who was unscathed in this fight. It was a matchup that far favored Infernape and Kaynem was hoping that a quick fight might give Infernape some extra confidence to finish off Ampharos.\n\n Bright light emanated from the fairy pokemon as Infernape approached, shooting blast after blast of fire towards her. Clefable was slow and took a few blasts while trying to deliver her own psychic attack. A wave of psychic energy hit Infernape but he powered forward and a hard punch sent Clefable to the ground.\n\n Kaynem's hands clenched into fists and he watched intently as Infernape went for another punch to try and finish off the Clefable, but both her small hands suddenly glowed and she vanished completely.\n\n \"Was... was that metronome?\" Fletch asked, mouth spread wide in an excited grin. \"I don't think we've ever seen that here!\"\n\n \"Indeed we have not! Such a risky move!\" Jamison commented.\n\n The audience was loving every second of this quick, heated battle. Clefable was gone for a couple seconds before reappearing behind the Infernape in a shadowy cloud and striking hard, sending the monkey toppling forward. Infernape recovered fast, and darted back in, knocking Clefable against one of the barrier walls with a powerful slam of his shoulders. Clefable looked all but defeated, and the crowd was on its feet, pennants waving as the match looked to be on its final moments. \n\n Clefable's hands glowed once more with the power of metronome and as Infernape's fist swung down at the pink-white fairy a large explosion shook the stadium hard enough to send everyone to the ground, or their seats. The holographic barrier lit up on all sides as the explosion sent debris and dust everywhere, and no one could see inside the field.\n\n Kaynem's ears were ringing from the sound and he couldn't hear the announcers or crowd for several seconds. His heart pounded rapidly as he waited for the dust to finally settle. Could Infernape have survived that explosion? Was this the end?\n\n The dust finally settled as vents in the stadium came on to clear out dust, sometimes used for toxic fumes, water, flames, and all sorts of attacks that needed to be cleared away. Kaynem was still on his knees and couldn't find the will to stand up as he saw the carnage.\n\n Infernape was laying only feet from him on the other side of the barrier, unconscious and out of the fight. Clefable, likewise, was in a similar state at the far end of the battlefield, which now looked like a crater, but Lessan still had Ampharos. Even if almost defeated, Ampharos was still conscious and that was all that was needed for Lessan to claim victory.\n\n \"Lessan is the winner! Oh. My. God! Two JRC firsts in only minutes!\" Jamison was shouting.\n\n Fletch looked equally shocked and excited. \"That's right folks, for those of you who might have just joined, we just saw Lessan's Clefable use Metronome not once, but twice.\"\n\n \"Exactly, and if that wasn't enough excitement, the second Metronome was an Explosion that absolutely wrecked the field and took out Kaynem's last remaining pokemon.\"\n\n Kaynem recalled Infernape with a shaky hand, his mouth still hanging open in shock. He struggled to his feet and stared across the broken stone to where Lessan stood. Even in victory he looked calm, poised, and had a grin on his face that made Kaynem's cheeks heat up. The anger and hate that Kaynem felt was dampened to sorrow and defeat.\n\n \"There you have it folks. Kaynem will drop to the Behind-Bracket where he'll have to face Demi to stay alive in this tournament. Lessan, meanwhile, advances to the finals to face Frahzen in what should be a match of epic proportions. \n\n Lessan walked around the exterior of the barrier until he was standing next to Kaynem. \"It was a good match,\" he said, smiling wide and holding out a hand.\n\n Even if all cameras in the stadium weren't on the pair, Kaynem couldn't have refused the handshake. Lessan's hand was smooth, strong, and the shake lingered for just a second longer than Kaynem would have considered normal. \"Y-yeah, it was,\" he said, feeling his tan cheeks flush. \"Good luck in the next round.\"\n\n \"Luck is all that got me through the match with you, honestly,\" Lessan said, shrugging his shoulders and chuckling. \"Metronome was such a risky play, but it just happened to work out in my favor. It feels a bit cheap to win that way,\" he said, an apologetic expression playing across his face.\n\n Kaynem shook his head and found himself smiling despite his disappointment in the match. \"No, a win is a win, and everything is fair in a fight.\"\n\n Lessan studied Kaynem for a moment longer before nodding in agreement. He raised a hand to run through his untidy, black hair and looked around the stadium before turning back to Kaynem. \"Our matches aren't until tomorrow. After you heal up there's a few private spa rooms down under the stadium to relax and loosen up. You should think about hitting them up.\"\n\n Kaynem nodded absently, thinking about his match tomorrow with the fierce Demi. He'd probably need the spa just to relax. \"Yeah, I'll probably go down there, then.\"\n\n \"I usually do as often as I can. Ampharos really likes the hot tubs and saunas. My other pokemon don't care for it as much,\" he said. \n\n There was something about the grin that he had across his face that Kaynem couldn't quite place. Something predatory, perhaps. He nodded slowly. \"My Infernape would probably enjoy it the most. Luxray and Lopunny aren't fond of being wet.\"\n\n \"Well there you go. It'll be a good chance to loosen up and prepare for tomorrow. Who knows, maybe I'll see you there,\" Lessan said, giving a small salute with two fingers as he began walking backwards away from Kaynem.\n\n Kaynem just nodded and started off for his own tunnel as the announcers continued analyzing the match. He was in no mood to listen right now. He'd take care of the planning and analyzing tomorrow. Right now he just wanted to get to the stadium's pokemon center and then back to his room to mope for a bit before watching the next match between Riptide and Luna in the Behind-Bracket. If he beat Demi, and he felt that was a pretty big \"if\", then he'd be up against Luna or Riptide, who he'd taken out in the first round.\n\n The golden-skinned boy moved as if on autopilot, healing his pokemon up, grabbing a quick bite to eat, and making it back to his room inside the arena without much going through his head. He was stopped a few times by people who saw the match, a couple wanting pictures, and one even had his pennant for him to sign. Everything just flew by as a blur until he was back in his room, and he was asleep moments later, still feeling sorry for himself at the outcome of the match.\n\n\n\n It was dark when Kaynem woke from his nap. The stadium's rooms for contestants were along the outer rim and he had a nice, large, curved window that overlooked the sea to the south. The moon was full and shining down against the water, making everything sparkle beautifully. He hadn't meant to sleep quite so long, but there was no taking care of that now. He hadn't even stripped out of his clothes and his body ached all over from laying haphazardly across the bed. Lessan's words from earlier came to mind and he figured now would be as good a time as any to hit up the private spas. Kaynem grabbed a towel, just in case, and Infernape's red and old pokeball. \n\n The spas were underground, beneath all the rooms, so it was a quick walk down. It was two levels of large, private rooms for trainers to relax with their pokemon. Some rooms were large enough that only the biggest pokemon would be unable to fit. Kaynem had been there once last year, and he and Infernape had relaxed in a large hot tub for an hour before enjoying the room's sauna. He let the monkey out and Infernape stretched his arms above his head, looking around to see where they were.\n\n \"Remember the spa we went to last year when we were here?\" Kaynem asked, putting a hand on the monkey's shoulder and giving it a firm squeeze. \n\n Infernape was a good half a foot shorter than he was, and the monkey looked up with his large, yellow and blue eyes. He gave a growl of acknowledgment and beamed wide, teeth barred.\n\n Kaynem laughed and patted Infernape on the back, starting down the hall towards where the spas were. \"I thought you might. Figured it'd be good to relax before tomorrow.\"\n\n His wrist was caught in the monkey's paw and he paused, looking back at Infernape. The pokemon had his head hanging down, a look of disappointment and dejection on his face.\n\n \"Hm? What is it?\" Kaynem asked.\n\n Infernape looked up, frowning, and then looked away, shaking his head.\n\n \"You feel bad about the match?\" he asked, turning back completely and putting both hands on each of Infernape's shoulders. When the monkey nodded he pulled him close and squeezed Infernape to his chest. \"Hey now, don't feel bad. You did a great job. We're still in this and you'll do even better next time, I know it,\" he said reassuringly.\n\n Infernape's arms wrapped around his waist to return the hug, his chest rumbling with his soft, simian growl. He gave a small nod, head pressed in against Kaynem's chest before they pulled apart.\n\n Kaynem laughed and pulled at his shoulder as he began to walk. \"Come on, let's go find us a nice room to relax in.\"\n\n Infernape punched the air and let out a soft cry of agreement, beaming brightly as he followed along behind his trainer.\n\n The golden, tan boy walked along through the halls of the lower levels of the arena as they entered where all the private rooms were. There was an electronic map on the wall showing where each room was, which amenities they had, and which were occupied. None of them showed as having anyone in them. Kaynem glanced at the map as he walked and continued down towards the same one he'd been to the previous year.\n\n \"It'll be really nice to just relax in the hot tub, don't you think?\" Kaynem said, pushing open one of the doors and stepping inside. \"And we'll need to be relaxed if...\" his voice trailed off as he entered the room, eyes flicking to the scene before them. The rooms were normally locked from the inside, which would indicate them as occupied on the map, but it appears the occupants had forgotten to lock this one.\n\n Kaynem's eyes locked with Lessan's across the room, both of their mouths opening in complete shock. Kaynem thought his cheeks might burst into flame at what he saw before him, but it was Lessan who should have been more embarrassed...\n...\n...\nContinue:\nhttps://www.sofurry.com/view/1240374\nhttp://www.furaffinity.net/view/24889732/\n",
"writing_bbcode_parsed": "<span style='word-wrap: break-word;'>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Ladies and gentleman, welcome back to the JRC &#039;17. We&#039;ve just witnessed the biggest upset of the tournament thus far with Frahzen knocking out Demi in the Quarter-Finals.&quot; The announcer&#039;s voice boomed through the stadium to the cheers and shouts from the buzzing stadium-goers.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;And what a spectacular match it was. After Demi&#039;s Absol managed to go 2-0 against Frahzen&#039;s Electabuzz and Magmar, his Scyther swiped the victory against Absol, Masquerain, and Jynx.&quot; The second announcer&#039;s voice joined in as the pair appeared on the large monitors in their blue blazers at the desk.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Jamison, where do you think Demi&#039;s loss came from? She&#039;s been such a powerhouse this tournament being the runner-up last year, and taking out 2015 and 2016 winners Cairo and Santos.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Well Fletch, being favored to win the tournament doesn&#039;t make you undefeatable as we just saw. Her overconfidence might have cost her the victory. Absol just barely defeated Magmar, but she could have switched to Jynx instead of trying to have Absol finish out the match.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Agreed, though we can&#039;t discount what Frahzen was able to do either. He coached remarkably and his Scyther was able to execute nearly flawless moves to seal a win.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The entire stadium was cheering and raving as a few replays of the match between Frahzen and Demi played on the large screens hanging from the interior of the stadium. People wore gear from their favorite participants in the tournament and pennants flew back and forth bearing the name, or nickname, of the contestants.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Well, on to our next match. 2016 Quarterfinalist, Kaynem, from Sunnyshore. His team features Luxray, Infernape, and Lopunny. He&#039;s been training since he was twelve, and got his first badge from the Sunnyshore City Gym at fourteen.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Cheers erupted from all over the stadium as Kaynem&#039;s face was displayed on the screen as he entered from one of the tunnels. He was short for his age, nearly nineteen, and golden skin from growing up near the beach and spending a lot of his time outside. He had long, dirty-blond hair that was held back in a ponytail and big, brown eyes. He had yet to grow any facial hair, and looked all the younger for it.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem tried to look tough and resolute, though it was difficult with his young face. He knew, too, that though the crowd cheered and applauded, almost none of the pennants or banners were for him. He wasn&#039;t a big name in the pkSports industry, and had only competed in two tournaments before the Johto Regional Cup last year, and neither were title-winners. All the same, it felt good to have a crowd cheering as he entered.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;And,&quot; Jamison, one of the announcers, continued. &quot; At the opposite end, from Fuchsia, we have Lessan, one of the 2016 semi-finalists, and winner of the 2017 Hoenn Winter League. Today he brings with him Ampharos, Clefable, and Charizard. He grew up helping out in the Safari Zone, and began entering tournaments when he was sixteen.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lessan strode forward, chin held high as people shouted and cheered. More than a few pennants waved in the air bearing the green and red of his signature colors with his name embroidered in black. He&#039;d gotten popular since his big win in the tournament earlier in the year, and his face had appeared on a few magazines around Kanto, especially. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a year younger than Kaynem, and a good head taller. He had smooth, white skin and blue eyes. His hair was jet black and stylishly untidy. Both he and Kaynem were wearing black shorts with their own, personalized jersey. Lessan with number 81, and a jersey of green and red, Kaynem&#039;s with the number 25 in red and gold.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lessan had high cheekbones and a strong chin and was something of a favorite among the younger girls who followed pkSports. He took his spot at the end of the battlefield, staring across the dark stadium to the other spotlight where Kaynem was standing. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem couldn&#039;t see his face from this distance, but the large screen showed the older boy wink at him, baring his teeth in a wolfish grin. Kaynem was glad that he wasn&#039;t on screen as his cheeks turned scarlet in response. They&#039;d met the previous year at the 2016 JRC, and had stayed in loose contact since then, talking, flirting, and meeting up on occasion to battle or just hang out.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A woman in referee outfit walked to the center of the large field, a spotlight following her until she was standing in the middle. Both Lessan and Kaynem took their cue and walked forward from the edges until they were standing in the center ring, designated by the pokeball painted on the stone field. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Alright, you two know the rules. Lessan, you placed higher in last year&#039;s JRC so you get to call the coin toss,&quot; she said, producing a two-sided coin from her pocket. It was emblazoned with a pokeball on one side and JRC &#039;17 on the opposite, and was one of the items in the little swag-bags that all contestants got for entering.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lessan glanced over at Kaynem, flashing him another grin. &quot;Alright then. I choose heads,&quot; he said, eyes on the boy with golden, tan skin. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem felt his cheeks heating up and he turned his gaze back on the referee. She flipped the coin up into the air, the stadium lights glinting off the metallic sheen. It tumbled over and over before landing on the ground, spinning on its edge before finally landing with the pokeball facing up.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Heads! Alright Lessan, would you like to summon first or defer?&quot; she asked, bending down to retrieve and pocket the coin.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Defer,&quot; Lessan said, nodding to the ref.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Alright, then back to your sides. Kaynem, please summon your first pokemon. Lessan, you&#039;ll summon second. The match will begin when I give the signal.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Both trainers nodded without a word and turned away to stroll back to their respective sides. Kaynem&#039;s mind raced as he thought about who to send out first. Going second, Lessan would have the advantage of reacting to his first move, but Kaynem could try to force a particular matchup if he needed. He was most worried about Lessan&#039;s Charizard, so he wanted to keep his Luxray for that matchup. Likewise, sending Infernape out first might draw Charizard out, and the matchup might not go in his favor.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He turned forward again, the lights in the stadium now illuminating the entire field instead of just shining on the people on the field. Kaynem drew in a deep breath, reached to his belt, and pulled off a yellow and black ball. It flashed open and Lopunny appeared, standing just over four feet next to him. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Jamison, the dark-skinned announcer, was on it immediately. &quot; With Lessan deferring the opening to Kaynem, we see Lopunny coming out first! How will Lessan respond?&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In answer, Lessan picked off a typically-colored pokeball from his belt and threw it forward. With a loud roar, and the spreading of giant, black and red wings, Charizard appeared at the far end of the field. The abnormally colored Charizard was taller than Lessan and every breath it took sent out small puffs of smoke from its flared nostrils.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;There you have it, folks. Lessan&#039;s impressive, shiny Charizard! You don&#039;t get to see them often, and man is it a sight to behold when you do,&quot; Fletch said over the roar of the crowd.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem&#039;s breath caught in his throat as he saw the black-skinned Charizard come free. Pokemon larger than even he was always intimidated him, and the black and red Charizard was no exception. His Lopunny, though, stood there, looking unimpressed with her cotton-ball hands crossed over her torso. Her calmness helped still Kaynem&#039;s nerves. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Fletch, I&#039;m excited. Are you excited? The first opening matchup is going to be riveting. Lopunny and Charizard. Jamison, remind the audience what we&#039;ve seen so far from these two great pokemon so far.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Well, Jamison, in round one we saw amazing play from Kaynem&#039;s Lopunny taking out Riptide&#039;s Steelix and Blastoise. Lessan&#039;s Charizard nearly three-oh&#039;ed Cody&#039;s Gengar, Golem, and Machamp in round two. It&#039;ll be interesting to see just how these two titans do against one another.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The referee looked from Lessan to Kaynem, holding a special, luminescent flag in one hand. The fibers shimmered and glistened as the light bounced off it. &quot;Ready?&quot; she called, waiting for the affirmative nod from both trainers. She raised the flag up above one head, waited a few seconds, and then brought it down in front of her. &quot;Go!&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The electric material of the flag beamed brightly and it set off the lights embedded in the stone that made up the boundaries of the field. It was a stunning display of the holographic material used for flash and style, and a very noticeable signal to start.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The sheer speed of Lessan&#039;s Charizard was frightening. Its wings folded in close and in a spiraling lung forward it closed the distance of nearly fifty yards to only a couple feet in the blink of an eye. The black dragon&#039;s jaws opened wide and crunched down right where Lopunny&#039;s shoulder was a split second before. The lapine beast leapt high in the air and shot back to the ground with one leg extended, striking the dragon in the small of its back. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Charizard roared out its pain and both wings shot to either side before Lopunny could land and flung her twenty yards towards one of the boundaries. She contacted the ground and came up in a roll as the dragon charged at her again.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem grit his teeth, paws balled into fists as he watched the opening engagement. People who trained hard enough with their pokemon didn&#039;t need to give commands unless they might see a better opening than what their pokemon might. All the same it was difficult not to be a backseat driver in a match like this.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lopunny feinted to one side as the dragon bore down on her and swung her leg out, electricity wreathing her limb as she did so. It struck and the dragon let out a hideous roar as his body went rigid and rolled along the ground before struggling to his feet. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lessan shouted something from the opposite end of the stadium, but with the din of the crowd and the commentary from the announcers, Kaynem couldn&#039;t hear what was going on.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;An amazing opener. Seeing that blitz by Charizard,&quot; Jamison was saying.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Fletch nodded, looking out along the field from where they watched above. &quot;Indeed. And the speed at which that Lopunny moves. She barely dodged and was able to deliver a solid kick, and then followed it up with an electrifying one that appears to have paralyzed Charizard!&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Indeed, that could spell big trouble for Lessan and his Charizard. They&#039;ve relied on strength and speed to put away their opponents so far, and if Charizard is paralyzed they&#039;re going to have to resort to other tactics,&quot; Jamison said.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;And it looks like they are!&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Charizard, now on all fours, stomped the ground hard, fissures appearing in the stone working and splitting everything open as the stadium shook. If the earthquake wasn&#039;t enough, fire poured from all around the large dragon like liquid fire, filling those cracks and sharply raising the temperature in the arena.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lopunny had been running forward again when the earthquake hit and was thrown to the ground, almost tripping and falling into one of the fire-filled fissures. Kaynem sucked in a sharp breath, his lungs burning with the heat of the fire around him. &quot;Watch your step! Don&#039;t leap up high anymore!&quot; he called.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lopunny glanced over and nodded, and then darted forward again, her footing sure as she ran at the Charizard who was focusing on the fire and ground attack. The dragon&#039;s eyes were closed and Kaynem was sure that Lopunny could end it if she got there quick enough, but those enormous, black eyes snapped open at the last second and one of the clawed hands grabbed Lopunny&#039;s foot as it swung at his face. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The crowd cheered and screamed as Charizard caught the rabbit in one, and then the other hand. Those jaws parted, teeth sparkling as Charizard&#039;s head snapped down to crunch at the caught prey. Lopunny was quicker and leaned up, mouth closed as its lips pursed into a kiss that caught the dragon&#039;s nose.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Charizard&#039;s attack faltered and ceased all together as a look of pure infatuation came over the dragon. It blinked dreamily a few times down at the rabbit, suddenly passivized, and Lopunny took that moment to strike.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Both its slender, fluffy feet came up to the dragon&#039;s chest and pushed off hard to break free of its grasp. She flipped over in the air, landed, and sprung forward once more, delivering a set of quick, electric kicks to the dragon&#039;s torso that sent it reeling backwards.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Oh my god! The upsets we&#039;ve seen here tonight!&quot; Jamison reported. &quot; We thought that Lopunny was done for after being caught by Charizard, but one quick kiss and it looks all over for Charizard now!&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem watched as Charizard toppled over and lay still on the ground, defeated. He felt his lips curling up at the sides as he grinned fiercely. The one pokemon he was most worried about was defeated, and it was on to the next. Lopunny rounded about until she was standing in front of Kaynem and Charizard was recalled and Ampharos suddenly appeared on the far end of the field.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Goodness, we&#039;ve had such a thrilling match in the first few minutes, let&#039;s see what Lessan decides is the next course of action,&quot; Fletch said.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Jamison nodded, shuffling some papers to one side of the desk. &quot;Well Ampharos has been a huge boon to many of Lessan&#039;s opponents in tournaments, and I think Kaynem&#039;s Lopunny will be hard-pressed to take him down.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ampharos wasn&#039;t as fast as Lopunny, but charged forward all the same, hopping over the broken fissures in the ground that were now free of fire with Charizard gone. Lopunny ran forward as well, chocolate-brown paws balled into fists and ready to take the large creature on. As she closed the distance, Ampharos reared its head back and then stomped a foot on the ground, electricity spreading out in a thick wave.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lopunny had been ready for such an attack and leapt into the air to avoid the wave, aiming a kick at the ram-like pokemon. Bolts of lightning erupted from Ampharos at that instant and Lopunny couldn&#039;t change direction at all in midair. She was struck hard and sent reeling towards the ground where the electric field weakened her further.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;She was slow to get up and the roar of the crowd drowned out any sound from the battle. Lopunny couldn&#039;t hear Kaynem&#039;s cry of warning, and looked up too late to see the large pokemon slam down atop her, finishing her off.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Oh my god! What a quick finish!&quot; Jamison called over the din. &quot; What will come now?&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem recalled Lopunny and threw forth Luxray to fight thunder with thunder. On all fours, the blue and yellow cat was nearly as big as the bipedal Ampharos. It streaked forward and got off a quick chomp to one of the ram&#039;s flanks before that tail turned to steel and smacked the cat a few yards away. Luxray was quick to get back up and charged forward again, delivering two quick back to back hits that nearly felled the large ram.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem held his breath as Luxray went back in to finish the ram off but the ram drew back its fist as Luxray closed, and delivered a punch square to Luxray&#039;s forehead that flung the cat against the far boundary where he hit the holographic wall that protected the audience from any effects of the fight. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Dynamic Punch!&quot; Fletch called out, his mic-enhanced voice nearly covered by the screams of the audience. &quot;Ampharos has just taken out its second victim in this quarter-final match! Kaynem only has Infernape left now.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem&#039;s stomach was in knots as he sent Infernape into the fray. Unsurprisingly, Ampharos was switched out for Clefable who was unscathed in this fight. It was a matchup that far favored Infernape and Kaynem was hoping that a quick fight might give Infernape some extra confidence to finish off Ampharos.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Bright light emanated from the fairy pokemon as Infernape approached, shooting blast after blast of fire towards her. Clefable was slow and took a few blasts while trying to deliver her own psychic attack. A wave of psychic energy hit Infernape but he powered forward and a hard punch sent Clefable to the ground.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem&#039;s hands clenched into fists and he watched intently as Infernape went for another punch to try and finish off the Clefable, but both her small hands suddenly glowed and she vanished completely.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Was... was that metronome?&quot; Fletch asked, mouth spread wide in an excited grin. &quot;I don&#039;t think we&#039;ve ever seen that here!&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Indeed we have not! Such a risky move!&quot; Jamison commented.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The audience was loving every second of this quick, heated battle. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Clefable&#039;s hands glowed once more with the power of metronome and as Infernape&#039;s fist swung down at the pink-white fairy a large explosion shook the stadium hard enough to send everyone to the ground, or their seats. The holographic barrier lit up on all sides as the explosion sent debris and dust everywhere, and no one could see inside the field.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem&#039;s ears were ringing from the sound and he couldn&#039;t hear the announcers or crowd for several seconds. His heart pounded rapidly as he waited for the dust to finally settle. Could Infernape have survived that explosion? Was this the end?<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The dust finally settled as vents in the stadium came on to clear out dust, sometimes used for toxic fumes, water, flames, and all sorts of attacks that needed to be cleared away. Kaynem was still on his knees and couldn&#039;t find the will to stand up as he saw the carnage.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Infernape was laying only feet from him on the other side of the barrier, unconscious and out of the fight. Clefable, likewise, was in a similar state at the far end of the battlefield, which now looked like a crater, but Lessan still had Ampharos. Even if almost defeated, Ampharos was still conscious and that was all that was needed for Lessan to claim victory.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Lessan is the winner! Oh. My. God! Two JRC firsts in only minutes!&quot; Jamison was shouting.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Fletch looked equally shocked and excited. &quot;That&#039;s right folks, for those of you who might have just joined, we just saw Lessan&#039;s Clefable use Metronome not once, but twice.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Exactly, and if that wasn&#039;t enough excitement, the second Metronome was an Explosion that absolutely wrecked the field and took out Kaynem&#039;s last remaining pokemon.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem recalled Infernape with a shaky hand, his mouth still hanging open in shock. He struggled to his feet and stared across the broken stone to where Lessan stood. Even in victory he looked calm, poised, and had a grin on his face that made Kaynem&#039;s cheeks heat up. The anger and hate that Kaynem felt was dampened to sorrow and defeat.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;There you have it folks. Kaynem will drop to the Behind-Bracket where he&#039;ll have to face Demi to stay alive in this tournament. Lessan, meanwhile, advances to the finals to face Frahzen in what should be a match of epic proportions. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lessan walked around the exterior of the barrier until he was standing next to Kaynem. &quot; It was a good match,&quot; he said, smiling wide and holding out a hand.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Even if all cameras in the stadium weren&#039;t on the pair, Kaynem couldn&#039;t have refused the handshake. Lessan&#039;s hand was smooth, strong, and the shake lingered for just a second longer than Kaynem would have considered normal. &quot;Y-yeah, it was,&quot; he said, feeling his tan cheeks flush. &quot;Good luck in the next round.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Luck is all that got me through the match with you, honestly,&quot; Lessan said, shrugging his shoulders and chuckling. &quot;Metronome was such a risky play, but it just happened to work out in my favor. It feels a bit cheap to win that way,&quot; he said, an apologetic expression playing across his face.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem shook his head and found himself smiling despite his disappointment in the match. &quot; No, a win is a win, and everything is fair in a fight.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Lessan studied Kaynem for a moment longer before nodding in agreement. He raised a hand to run through his untidy, black hair and looked around the stadium before turning back to Kaynem. &quot; Our matches aren&#039;t until tomorrow. After you heal up there&#039;s a few private spa rooms down under the stadium to relax and loosen up. You should think about hitting them up.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem nodded absently, thinking about his match tomorrow with the fierce Demi. He&#039;d probably need the spa just to relax. &quot;Yeah, I&#039;ll probably go down there, then.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;I usually do as often as I can. Ampharos really likes the hot tubs and saunas. My other pokemon don&#039;t care for it as much,&quot; he said. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;There was something about the grin that he had across his face that Kaynem couldn&#039;t quite place. Something predatory, perhaps. He nodded slowly. &quot; My Infernape would probably enjoy it the most. Luxray and Lopunny aren&#039;t fond of being wet.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Well there you go. It&#039;ll be a good chance to loosen up and prepare for tomorrow. Who knows, maybe I&#039;ll see you there,&quot; Lessan said, giving a small salute with two fingers as he began walking backwards away from Kaynem.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem just nodded and started off for his own tunnel as the announcers continued analyzing the match. He was in no mood to listen right now. He&#039;d take care of the planning and analyzing tomorrow. Right now he just wanted to get to the stadium&#039;s pokemon center and then back to his room to mope for a bit before watching the next match between Riptide and Luna in the Behind-Bracket. If he beat Demi, and he felt that was a pretty big &quot;if&quot;, then he&#039;d be up against Luna or Riptide, who he&#039;d taken out in the first round.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The golden-skinned boy moved as if on autopilot, healing his pokemon up, grabbing a quick bite to eat, and making it back to his room inside the arena without much going through his head. He was stopped a few times by people who saw the match, a couple wanting pictures, and one even had his pennant for him to sign. Everything just flew by as a blur until he was back in his room, and he was asleep moments later, still feeling sorry for himself at the outcome of the match.<br /><br /><br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;It was dark when Kaynem woke from his nap. The stadium&#039;s rooms for contestants were along the outer rim and he had a nice, large, curved window that overlooked the sea to the south. The moon was full and shining down against the water, making everything sparkle beautifully. He hadn&#039;t meant to sleep quite so long, but there was no taking care of that now. He hadn&#039;t even stripped out of his clothes and his body ached all over from laying haphazardly across the bed. Lessan&#039;s words from earlier came to mind and he figured now would be as good a time as any to hit up the private spas. Kaynem grabbed a towel, just in case, and Infernape&#039;s red and old pokeball. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The spas were underground, beneath all the rooms, so it was a quick walk down. It was two levels of large, private rooms for trainers to relax with their pokemon. Some rooms were large enough that only the biggest pokemon would be unable to fit. Kaynem had been there once last year, and he and Infernape had relaxed in a large hot tub for an hour before enjoying the room&#039;s sauna. He let the monkey out and Infernape stretched his arms above his head, looking around to see where they were.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Remember the spa we went to last year when we were here?&quot; Kaynem asked, putting a hand on the monkey&#039;s shoulder and giving it a firm squeeze. <br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Infernape was a good half a foot shorter than he was, and the monkey looked up with his large, yellow and blue eyes. He gave a growl of acknowledgment and beamed wide, teeth barred.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem laughed and patted Infernape on the back, starting down the hall towards where the spas were. &quot;I thought you might. Figured it&#039;d be good to relax before tomorrow.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;His wrist was caught in the monkey&#039;s paw and he paused, looking back at Infernape. The pokemon had his head hanging down, a look of disappointment and dejection on his face.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;Hm? What is it?&quot; Kaynem asked.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Infernape looked up, frowning, and then looked away, shaking his head.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;You feel bad about the match?&quot; he asked, turning back completely and putting both hands on each of Infernape&#039;s shoulders. When the monkey nodded he pulled him close and squeezed Infernape to his chest. &quot;Hey now, don&#039;t feel bad. You did a great job. We&#039;re still in this and you&#039;ll do even better next time, I know it,&quot; he said reassuringly.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Infernape&#039;s arms wrapped around his waist to return the hug, his chest rumbling with his soft, simian growl. He gave a small nod, head pressed in against Kaynem&#039;s chest before they pulled apart.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem laughed and pulled at his shoulder as he began to walk. &quot;Come on, let&#039;s go find us a nice room to relax in.&quot;<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Infernape punched the air and let out a soft cry of agreement, beaming brightly as he followed along behind his trainer.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The golden, tan boy walked along through the halls of the lower levels of the arena as they entered where all the private rooms were. There was an electronic map on the wall showing where each room was, which amenities they had, and which were occupied. None of them showed as having anyone in them. Kaynem glanced at the map as he walked and continued down towards the same one he&#039;d been to the previous year.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot;It&#039;ll be really nice to just relax in the hot tub, don&#039;t you think?&quot; Kaynem said, pushing open one of the doors and stepping inside. &quot; And we&#039;ll need to be relaxed if...&quot; his voice trailed off as he entered the room, eyes flicking to the scene before them. The rooms were normally locked from the inside, which would indicate them as occupied on the map, but it appears the occupants had forgotten to lock this one.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaynem&#039;s eyes locked with Lessan&#039;s across the room, both of their mouths opening in complete shock. Kaynem thought his cheeks might burst into flame at what he saw before him, but it was Lessan who should have been more embarrassed...<br />...<br />...<br />Continue:<br /><a href=\"https://www.sofurry.com/view/1240374\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.sofurry.com/view/1240374</a><br /><a href=\"http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24889732/\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24889732/</a><br /></span>",
