I just can't produce content and gifts enough to keep up with all of the ideas in my head and all of the things I so badly want to see depicted.\n\nI sat down today and decided to ditch the overly complex lineart settings I use once and for all. While I loved this brush (and still always will) for its incredible ability to detail, its softness, and the fact that it's uniquely my own and has been for many years now, I've said it time and time again: it is special needs. The brush is slightly transluscent (in order to make it soft), and as a result, I can't invert select it, I can't resize or transform lineart without a significant loss in quality, and erasing/adding new lines is nearly impossible. I have to manually color in every single silhouette of a character (which has to be extremely precise and takes at least an hour on every piece) as well as re-line absolutely everything that needs to be edited later. I've lost track of how many times I've had to reline entire pieces due to suddenly deciding at last minute that the head should be smaller/bigger, or the body. It also grounds me to a small file size, as anything beyond 1300px in either direction makes the brush too small at the size it operates at (3px) reducing lineart legibility.\n\nI sat down and timed this today, trying out a brand new brush that allows me to draw at a huge file size and then shrink the image down. This was absolutely groundbreaking in every way. The lineart for this only took me 50 minutes, I was able to suddenly change it all at the very end (deciding the entire piece needed to be leaning more left), and was able to invert select the lines in order to fill in a base color. I also experimented with a much simpler shading style, as even though my shading is a hallmark of my art, I can't lie that it takes up a ton of time. This piece was my attempt at experimenting with a much simpler style of ambient shading - the use of shading, color, and highlights to create mood and atmosphere, but in a way that wouldn't require me to spend an entire day or more drawing something.\n\nLet's just say that I feel free, enlightened, and inspired - things that I haven't felt in a while now. I feel like this is still very obviously my style but without a reduction in quality, ambiance, or legibility. I feel like my art is much more readable at a glance/as a thumbnail now without the loss of detail.\n\nMore importantly, this piece only took me 3 hours. This is by far the quickest I've ever finished a piece of art and I'm just amazed. I could draw 2 or even 3 pieces of art a day at this pace?
