"First one of the day, passed early this morning" a man said rolling a cloth draped gurney into the morgue." "Alright, lets get them on the table" the corner said getting up from his desk, walking over to the orderly who had removed the cloth from over the body, "poor kid, I hate seeing a young one in this den" the corner said as him and the orderly placed the body on a metal table filled with small holes, "what are the circumstances?" "Medical condition" the orderly answered, "the boy here, Flint, was born with cardiacade syndrome, had multiple open heart surgeries in the past to help deal with the issue, last one was over three years ago which seamed to migrate the issue but two days ago he was found unconscious with no vitals, he was resuscitated by paramedics and was rushed into emergency open heart surgery, hence the scar on his chest but the surgeons said his heart was beyond repair and unfortunately had to close him back up to let nature take it's course." "I assume this is all in the surgeon's report?" the corner asked to which the orderly nodded, "then what is the need to bring him in for an autopsy? Seams fairly clear cut for his body to be release to his family" the corner continued, "well the thing is the three year gap since his last heart surgery" the orderly said, "in an subsequence medical exams, Flint showed no signs of his cardiacade syndrome taking hold again, latest one just being a few months ago, he is actually past the age it would be a major issue to lead to death, where his body would stabilize" the orderly continued, "there can be exceptions to the rule but I do see what you mean, it is odd that his heart would get so damaged in so little time without any flags that would lead to a sudden death like this" the corner replied, "thank you, I will investigate and hopefully can find an answer" the corner finished as the orderly left. The corner grabbed a form and placed it on his clipboard as he started examining Flint's outer body, "blond hair, eyes are a deep blue, teeth..." the corner started muttering to himself as he pried Flint's mouth open to get a look and feel of his fangs, "sharp and well taken care of" he said as he scribbled some notes before moving on. "Neck has no contusions, no broken bones, chest has a large scar down the centre of the sternum, scar is fresh as surgery was preformed a few days ago" the corner continued with his notes, "belly is free of any contusions, as are the arms and legs so no hidden abnormalities there" the corner wrote as he finished his external examination, "so lets see what you are hiding inside." The corner then took a scalpel and placed it against the top of Flint's chest, ready to make his cut but before he could make the slice the corner dropped his scalpel as he backed off in a small state of shock as for a brief moment it looked like Flint's eye had moved down to look square at him as he was about to make that cut but upon a second look, the corner saw that Flint's eye rolled back up to were it was suppose to be, "I got to get some better sleep, my mind is starting the play tricks on me" the corner said as he bent down and picked up his scalpel, keenly looking at Flint's eyes as he did as he was quite startled, "get over yourself, the kid is dead, there is nothing unusual going on."
The corner then placed his scalpel back at the top of Flint's chest and started to make his cut, again every now and then looking back at Flint's eyes to just reassure himself as a large Y shaped incision was made of Flint's body. Pulling back the fur, the muscular layer covering Flint's ribcage was fully visible as the corner grabbed the bone saw to start cutting away Flint's ribcage, but as he started the machine, again for an instant it looked like Flint's eyes moved to make contact with his, causing the corner to back off again only to see that Flint's eyes were the same as they ever were, "dam kid is going to kill me" the corner muttered as he cut away Flint's breastbone, pulling it out to reveal his heart and lungs. The corner then placed his hands inside, getting a good feel around Flint's internal organs, "lungs are in good shape, no signs of visible scarring, stomach and intestines look normal, kidneys are unscaved" the corner noted as he turned his attention to the organ of Flint's he was most interested in, "lets see what the heart of all this is." The corner pried away Flint's lungs so he could get a good view of his heart, placing his hands around it and pulling it up above the lungs so he could examine it further, "the heart is severely damaged, like it was almost ripped apart by some unknown trauma, which could be attested to cardiacade syndrome but all the structures around it seam untouched, which is generally not the case with it "the corner noted, "it is almost like Flint's heart was compressed and squeezed but some unknow pressure as it tried to beat against it, causing many lacerations and tears to the organ itself but leaving all other structures unaffected, but if that is the case what could of caused it?" the corner questioned as he grabbed the scalpel once more and started cutting around the aorta, to pry Flint's heart free from the rest of his body but as he did so, something glistening caught his eye as could make what looked like tears draping down from Flint's open eye. Placing his finger on Flint's cheek, he wiped down to only find nothing there as he just shook his head, "must just be the way the light is reflecting against his eyes, I got to get some rest, the day has only started but I can't go on like this" the corner muttered as he placed Flint's severed heart beside him on the table, "I think that is all I can do for now, I will close you back up and get you all settled back in the drawer while I take a closer look at your heart here" the corner commented as almost like he was conversing with Flint. Using sutures, he closed the large incision down Flint's chest and belly as the corner gave Flint's body one more look over after he was all closed up, paying special attention to his face, "you can rest well now little one" the corner said as he pulled Flint's eyelids closed with his fingers, he picked up Flint's body in his arms and carried him to the storage area where a few drawers were open with the slabs pulled out, he placed Flint's body on one of them before pushing the slab back into the wall, reading the tag wrapped around Flint's toe before closing the door, :only fourteen years old, again much too young" the corner commented before going back to the autopsy table to pick up Flint's removed heart, "I don't know if I can give any answer then cardiacade syndrome but it would be best to get this examined before releasing his body back to his family" the corner commented before tagging and sending off Flint's heart to the lab for further investigation.
