"description": "Art by MorgueBunny on FurAffinity\n\nTakes place along the second half of this story: https://inkbunny.net/s/2566549\n\n~\n\"Doctor Mazee, get your things ready to operate, we got a special patient coming in\" a nurse called to a surgeon who was relaxing on a nearby chair, he got up and quickly followed the nurse. \"Which Hunter got themselves into trouble this time?\" Doctor Mazee asked the nurse, \"well it is not a Hunter, it a seven year old boy\" the nurse replied, \"a child? Why is he coming here? Shouldn't he go to the children's hospital?\" Doctor Mazee asked, \"well you see, the boy is Ion-Yggdrasil, he is the son of the Overseer, for someone like that our hospital is best equipped to help him and our hospital does take care of the Overseer's family, both young and old\" the nurse replied. \"Ok I see, well what happened to him?\" Doctor Mazee asked, \"from what I have been told, he has been shot...\" the nurse started saying, \"shot? Was there an assassination attempt? Do we know how many bullets he may have taken?\" Doctor Mazee asked more franticly, \"relax a bit, he was shot with one arrow as he was out with his friends, one of them is a tribal fennec from what I was able to find, probably just an accident while he was out there\" the nurse replied. \"Ok good, the arrow should slow down the bleeding a bit so as long as it was not removed\" the doctor said as the nurse nodded, \"from what I hear, it is still inside of him, the medic team is waiting for our surgical team to remove the arrow to avoid any unnecessary complications\" the nurse added. \"Ok then, I will be waiting in X-ray room three, please send him there when he arrives so I can get some scans in before I take him into surgery\" Doctor Mazee said as the nurse nodded once more. A few minutes went by before some commotion could be heard coming from the hallway, as a medic team came into the X-ray room, wheeling a gurney with a small boy laying on it, Doctor Mazee helped them lift Ion on to the examination table, his coat was soaked in blood as the arrow was sticking out of his belly, he was moaning a bit in pain but had an intravenous needle in his hand giving him some pain relief medication, \"hello Ion, I am Doctor Mazee, just relax the best you can and I will take care of you, don't worry everything will be fine\" the doctor said as he started cutting away Ion's clothing. A minute latter the nurse returned carrying a few blood bags, as Doctor Mazee added one onto Ion's intravenous, a gurney came in seconds latter as Ion was transferred onto it, a portable breath mask was placed over his snout with Doctor Mazee squeezing air into the mask in a rhythm as the gurney was quickly wheeled into one of the operating rooms. Ion was quickly transferred to the operating table where various medical equipment were placed all over his body, his heart beat started filling the room as the monitor sounded, the breath mask was removed and an oxygen mask took it's place, Doctor Mazee them placed a hand on Ion's head and gave him a reassuring look as Ion fell into a deep sleep. \"Scalpel\" Doctor Mazee called out as he was handed one, moments latter he made an incision down Ion's small belly, with lots of blood pouring out from where he cut, \"towels please\" he called out once more as a couple of the attendants presses fresh towels around Ion's incision, to soak up the leaking blood. Once the towels were soaked, the attendants removed them so Doctor Mazee could continue making his incision before more towels had to be placed once the amount of blood became heavy again, this continued on for a bit until Doctor Mazee was able to expose Ion's bowels. He then placed a hand inside Ion to get a feel for his internal injuries, blood continued to pour out as more towels were placed around the incision to soak it up, \"how bad it it?\" one of the attendants asked, \"the arrow severed his stomach from the rest of his intestines, I believe that is where the blood loss is coming from as I don't feel any punctures in his major arteries, the arrow just seams to be stuck in his small bowel\" Doctor Mazee replied giving them all a small sigh of relief, \"but he is still bleeding quite badly, we need to get that under control and I need more O- blood as we are running low\" he continued looking at Ion's almost empty blood bag. \n\n\"That is the last one for now\" the attendant said handing the doctor a blood bag, \"but more should be coming, I got a call saying the fennec elder had gathered up some of his warriors who have O- blood and they are all going to donate.\" \"Hopefully they can get here soon\" Doctor Mazee said as he changed the blood bag on Ion's intravenous, \"this one may not last long\" he continued as he placed a retractor into Ion's incision and pulled it apart to open Ion's belly, Doctor Mazee then started pulling out a few folds of Ion's bowels so he could gain access to the damaged areas of Ion's insides. \"Clamp\" he called out as the attendant handed him a few, letting him clamp down the bleeding areas of Ion's insides, the bleeding started to ease which was a good thing since the blood in the last bag was getting empty. \"Is the extra blood here yet\" Doctor Mazee called out, \"I can't remove the arrow until it does but Ion's risk of infection rises the more we wait\" he continued, \"not just yet, they are here but the blood is still being collected\" the attendant called back as she places two stuffed animals on top of the heart monitor screen, \"where did you get those?\" Doctor Mazee asked, \"his parents brought them in, they are plushies of his best friends, they each all have one of one another and they felt Ion could use them by his side right now\" the attendant said, \"that is really cute in a way\" Doctor Mazee replied with a smile under his mask, not a moment latter another attendant ran into the operating room carrying a couple bags of blood, \"thank heavens they are ready\" Doctor Mazee said as he was handed one of the blood bags to which he swapped out with Ion's empty one, \"ok get me some more clamps and towels ready, I am going pull out the arrow\" he called out as the attendants grabbed the required items and took their places. Doctor Mazee then grabbed a hold of the arrow and with some force, he pulled it out causing more of Ion's blood to pour out, \"clamp\" he called out as the attendant handed him one which Doctor Mazee quickly clamped the bleeding area under Ion's intestines. He breathed a sigh of relief now that the projectile was removed from Ion, as the attendants quickly soaked up the loose blood around the clamp then placing the soiled towels in a nearby sink which had bloody water in it from all the other towels. \"Now thats over with we can finally start repairing the damaged organs\" Doctor Mazee said as he got to work reattaching Ion's stomach to his small bowel, the procedure took some time as the process was very intricate but he was able to successfully reattach it. With the work done with the severed organ, Doctor Mazee examined the rest of Ion's bowl track making sure there was not abnormalities along it, with all that complete there was only one thing left, repairing the pinch point where the arrow got stuck which was still being held closed with a single surgical clamp. \n\nDoctor Mazee pulled Ion's bowel to the side to gain access to the last damaged spot but as he did some alarms started going off, \"dam it\" Doctor Mazee yelled out as he noticed Ion's vitals dropping a bit, he scrambled to figure out why until he looked back at the bags on Ion's intravenous, \"I need more sodium chloride, we almost let that run out\" he said holding onto the almost empty bag, \"on it\" one of the attendants yelled out as they tossed the doctor another bag of sodium chloride, which he quickly replaced on Ion's intravenous. \"Lets try and not let that happen again\" Doctor Mazee said as the assistant nodded, he got back to work stitching up the last damaged part of Ion's bowel before removing the clamp, with that finished, he waited a few minutes to make sure Ion had no more internal bleeding and when he was satisfied there was no more, he carefully pushed Ion's intestines back inside his belly and started stitching closed the incision. With his work complete, Doctor Mazee started cleaning up and replaced some of the almost empty bags of medicine attached to Ion's intravenous as his eyes started to open, \"hey there little guy\" he said to Ion placing a hand on Ion's head, \"see I told you everything would be fine, now just rest up a bit, you are probably still fairly weak from the operation\" the doctor continued as he saw Ion trying to raise his head to glance down his tummy, \"don't worry the arrow is gone now and everything is fixed up, you will be fine and playing with your friends again in no time.\" \"Fl..in..t... I want... to see... Flint\" Ion started saying in a weak voice as his breathing was still a bit slow, \"is that one of your friends? I am sure he will come and see you soon, is there anything else you want at the moment?\" Doctor Mazee asked, \"Flint, I want to see Flint\" Ion called back out weakly. \"Ok I will get him as soon as I can, no Ion are you feeling any pain? "Doctor Mazee, get your things ready to operate, we got a special patient coming in" a nurse called to a surgeon who was relaxing on a nearby chair, he got up and quickly followed the nurse. "Which Hunter got themselves into trouble this time?" Doctor Mazee asked the nurse, "well it is not a Hunter, it a seven year old boy" the nurse replied, "a child? Why is he coming here? Shouldn't he go to the children's hospital?" Doctor Mazee asked, "well you see, the boy is Ion-Yggdrasil, he is the son of the Overseer, for someone like that our hospital is best equipped to help him and our hospital does take care of the Overseer's family, both young and old" the nurse replied. "Ok I see, well what happened to him?" Doctor Mazee asked, "from what I have been told, he has been shot..." the nurse started saying, "shot? Was there an assassination attempt? Do we know how many bullets he may have taken?" Doctor Mazee asked more franticly, "relax a bit, he was shot with one arrow as he was out with his friends, one of them is a tribal fennec from what I was able to find, probably just an accident while he was out there" the nurse replied. "Ok good, the arrow should slow down the bleeding a bit so as long as it was not removed" the doctor said as the nurse nodded, "from what I hear, it is still inside of him, the medic team is waiting for our surgical team to remove the arrow to avoid any unnecessary complications" the nurse added. "Ok then, I will be waiting in X-ray room three, please send him there when he arrives so I can get some scans in before I take him into surgery" Doctor Mazee said as the nurse nodded once more. A few minutes went by before some commotion could be heard coming from the hallway, as a medic team came into the X-ray room, wheeling a gurney with a small boy laying on it, Doctor Mazee helped them lift Ion on to the examination table, his coat was soaked in blood as the arrow was sticking out of his belly, he was moaning a bit in pain but had an intravenous needle in his hand giving him some pain relief medication, "hello Ion, I am Doctor Mazee, just relax the best you can and I will take care of you, don't worry everything will be fine" the doctor said as he started cutting away Ion's clothing.
