I guess we went the wrong way during the trial\" Ion said as he growled a bit. 'Well that does make sense\" Flint chimed in, \"he have been, abet slowly, been traveling on a downward path through the cave, I could feel it\" \"How come you didn't say anything sooner?\" Ion asked as he looked over to his friend, \"I never thought about it maybe meaning being on the wrong path\" Flint responded, \"could of been part of the trial to throw us off guard or maybe being back down here is part of it? I don't know but looking at it now that seams unlikely\" Flint continued a bit down as Ion made a sigh, \"I guess you are right on that one but don't worry about it\" Ion said in a comforting tone, \"maybe just next time if there is something that seams a bit off just speak up and we can all discuss it, you are our tracker and we do trust your judgement but sometimes we all need some guidance that can be derived when we all put our heads together\" Ion continued which made Flint smile, \"sorry about that, I will do better next time, I promise.\" \"No need, I know you will\" Ion replied as the boys exited the cave to the dark night sky with the lights of the city peering through the forest in front of them, \"we might have lost a day but it is a long weekend, we can go back to my place for the night and restart in the morning, at least we know the correct path back to the shrine at least, saves us some headache\" Ion said as he bumped into Zephyr who suddenly stopped, \"something the matter?\" Ion asked. \"Look!\" Zephyr said as he pointed forward, as both Ion and Flint's eyes gazed at the city light ahead for a moment before they realized the same thing Zephyr did, \"that is not Eios...\" Flint said after a moment of silence, \"looks to be that way, I don't see the ring walls, no outline of Yggdrasil Citadel and does that look like the ocean in the distance behind all those buildings?\" Zephyr added with a question as Ion looked deep in thought. \"Wait I know where we are and it makes sense if we are on the other side of the Eios mountain range\" Ion started saying as Flint's and Zephyr's ears perked up, \"I been here before many times before and one not too long ago, this is Corre\" Ion continued as Zephyr suddenly looked excited, Wait, Corre? Thats my old hometown\" Zephyr said as now Ion's and even Flint's ears perked in curiosity, \"Wait you were never born in Eios? How come you never said?\" Ion asked as Zephyr looked confused, \"I figured you knew I was not from Eios, that is why I was never in your school or class until first grade\" Zephyr replied as Ion now looked confused, \"I thought you said that before you came to Sekaiju Academy due to your scholarship, you attended Modun in the north end of Eios\" Ion countered as Zephyr made a small smile, placing a hand on the back of his head, 'I guess I did\" Zephyr replied, \"well that is also true but before going there and living in Eios, me and my family were in Corre, I attended Irminsul...\" Zephyr started saying as he was cut off, \"Irminsul? That is where my cousins Meeka and Matias go, did you know Matias? He is the same age as us\" Ion cut in as Zephyr shook his head, \"no and remember I went to Irminsul Elementary, not the Academy, which is where I assume they go due to your family prestige, I only got a Academy scholarship when I was in EIos, for Sekaiju Academy, not Irminsul in Corre\" Zephyr finished as Ion nodded. \n\n\"Ok I understand, well in any case, as I said my cousins live here as do my aunt and uncle, I am sure they will let us stay for the night since we traveled so far unintentionally, then we can get back to the journey first thing in the morning, however\" Ion stared saying as he placed a hand near the handle of his sword, \"we will need to keep our guard up until we get to the city fortifications, if that is indeed Corre there, then that means we came out in Fenrisúlfr Hollows, which means...\" Ion continued as the statement dawned on both Flint and Zephyr as they raised their guard as well, \"fenrirs are on the prowl in this area, especially at night\" Ion finished as Zephyr looked a bit worried, \"wouldn't it make more sense to go back to the cave? Or even stay put until morning?\" he asked as Flint shook his head, \"in the cave we could get cornered by them, we don't know the layout and with it begin night we would be aimlessly wandering around while being hunted\" Flint started replying, \"staying put is no good either, we would be siting ducks with no good means of escape if it came to it, as it would give them more time to surround us effectively and we would be far from any safe place\" Flint continued as Ion placed a hand on Zephyr's shoulder, \"agreed, we have to keep moving, get as close as we can to Corre without begin detected, all the way if we can but that might not be possible, I know how you feel Zephyr but I believe in you, we can all get through this together\" Ion said in a defining but assuring tone as Zephyr composed himself and nodded, \"alright lets head out, the more time we wait, the less of a chance we have to get there unscathed.\" The boys headed towards the city, feeling the eyes of numerous beasts upon them, \"just keep it slow, don't make any sudden movements to startle a frenzy... Within moments dozens of fenrirs descended upon them, but in a flash many were cut down by the quick strikes of Ion's sword, thick blood banished his blade as his clothes were splattered, the smell of blood seamed to invigorate him as his eyes narrowed and face began to give off a feral grin, Zephyr slamming his scythe into the head of a fenrir, blood splattering to his face, he looked back at his friend in a bit of a worry, he had seen this before from Ion, his senses go crazy when in the presence of the smell of blood, like a beast, a demon within come forth as he becomes lost in the art of battle, sparks flew from his hand as he obliterated even more fenrirs heading their way as his senses were in fine tune. \n\nWhile Zephyr did worry a bit when Ion got like this, he knew he still had the sense of self and others around him, in fact this was when the boys were at their most powerful as Ion had this untapped aurora around him that made the rest of them stronger, that his awareness heightened that he was able to do things that would seam impossible, that people of their level should not be able to do, that he was always able to protect them when things would go awry, this made him not only a strong leader, but a fearsome opponent to almost anyone despite his age. But this state of being did have a drawback, that the longer a fight went on, especially ones that were more demanding, the more Ion could loose himself within the battle and while the sense of self would remain, the sense of others would diminish as he would become too blinded by bloodlust. Flint could feel that moment approaching for Ion soon as he kept an eye out for his friend while trying to keep fenrirs back as best as he could in the darkness beyond from reaching their position, the more he could keep back, the more time he could buy not just for the Hunters to notice them, but for Ion as well with his bloodlust. That would leave me open, but save him... I may have some time to dodge out of the way but maybe not, do I shoot the one coming my way and hope Ion senses the one that is behind when it gets in close range? Can he move fast enough to do that? Is is sense circle still big enough for him to have time to do that? I don't know if I can risk that... wait I can call out a warning to him as I shoot the one on my left, he can usually hear me when inundated, that may be our best chance... but what if Ion doesn't hear me? Or what if I throw him off by calling out at a critical juncture... he is usually good at hearing me through bloodlust even when in battle... he did say speak up if I notice something off... maybe if I call out, I can also grab Zephyr's attension, he may be able to hep as he fairly close to Ion... but what if he enters Ion bloodlust circle, he could take a nasty swing from Ion before he comes to his senses and the fenrir could get to both of them while all that is going on... I don't know what to do, I don't know what is best... but I got to make a choice or we are going to be in big trouble... though what if I miss act? I don't...
