The surgery Ion went through before this event

It is a curse that for anyone who is born into the Yggdrasil family has to deal with in some way, a heart defect known as a Atrial Septal Defect, every child born into this family has had this condition. Form most, like Ion's Father and his cousins Meeka and Mathias the condition would heal on it's own or not be as bad to cause problems at least in early life, for others like Ion himself, it becomes a severe enough issue the surgical intervention is required and usually at a very early age. Ion struggled a bit during his early years living with his condition and at the age of four was when it got bad enough where he had to be opened up and the necessary repairs needed to be made in the inner working of his beating heart. For this though there was a surgeon who specialized in Ion's condition, his uncle Marven, the younger brother of his father Ivan who like Ion had to undergo the repair surgery himself at a young age for the family's defective curse and from then was determined to help others with the very condition that plagued him. The one main issue at the time was the logistics of getting Ion to Marven to have the surgery performed, as he lived and worked in the outer valley city of Corrie while Ion lived in the main valley city of Eios, though with hard work and determination the trek was made, first by rain from the valley city to beyond the mountains, Ion being placed in a hospitalized rail car with constant monitoring and if needed an operating room just in case they had to go in early for stabilization, then once past the mountain range with Corrie in view, a special car waiting for him and his family to take them to the hospital Marven worked at and straight into surgery. It was a long and difficult operation but in the end it was successful and after a stay in intensive care and then recovery, Ion was able to become the cheery kid that he was meant to be though in the background the curse would still present challenges down the road as it was still something as a Yggdrasil, Ion would have to live with.
