This was generated using an embedding trained on images of Digitigrade Taleir and portions of it were regenerated probably several thousand times to try and fix issues or add details that the AI just couldn't manage, like the planet in the sky.\n\nNo matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it to generate a reasonable planet visible in the sky. I ultimately had to photobash one in and then have the AI tweak it to integrate it into the scene. Unfortunately, this still wasn't easy; it really wanted to turn it into clouds or tree leaves, but I eventually got lucky...\n\nAnother problem was getting her spade in the image. The embedding's training data had plenty of fortune cookies in it and the AI [i]eventually[/i] gave her a decent looking one. The AI does know what a canine pussy looks like, it's just hard to invoke it into the image.\n\nAfter all the details were worked out, it was upscaled into this. Seems pretty decent, but not exactly an easy process. This is far from just entering a prompt and getting exactly what you wanted out. There's far more to the process that does require human creativity to ultimately achieve the specific result you wanted (or at least you are okay with).\n\nAt least for now... If you threw this into some AI art generator, you just won't get output that looks anything like this; you need my personal embedding (of which there are like 20 different versions) to get something similar out of it. I'll go over that in a bit.\n\nBut, you can see it had messy arms, the wrong eye-color, weirdness in her accessories and anatomy. However, the original outfit was pretty cool which is why I was compelled to work with it. In the end, it was changed significantly to fit Taleir's canon setting more decently, looking a bit more scifi rather than fantasy.\n\n[b]Third Image:[/b]\n\nThis was a weird happening while testing a very early version of the embedding. I added the word \"pregnant\" into the prompt, and suddenly it was outputting these really hot tribal maned-foxes.\n\nAs I said to a friend:\n[q]I wanna make that tribe's babies!\nHff!\nMaybe the AI did generate a pregnant Taleir in a roundabout way...[/q]\nWhy it suddenly started generating maned-foxes instead of something that looks like Taleir just by adding \"pregnant\" to the prompt is anyone's guess... Just a really strange interaction.\n\nThe original prompt for this is kinda lost at this point, but I have a prompt from near this point and it probably was something like this:\n[q]PS5 game, unreal engine 5, pregnant bottomless vulpine thief \nNegative prompt: artwork, cartoon, breasts[/q]\nThis was back when I was still aiming for photo-realism. Using \"photo\" tended to cause it to generate a random photo that did not involve a Taleir-like character at all, but video game screenshots did better; they just kept on having this sorta cartoony look to them which was not the goal.\n\n[b]Fourth Image:[/b]\n\nThis was kind of a happy accident. I was helping a friend by generating character design ideas to help inspire them. At one point, I dropped my Taleir embedding into the prompt in place of the species we were using and it started generating these Taleir-alikes with really cool bottomless fashion.\n\nAmusingly, some of them end up looking like felt figurines. It's just kinda neat!\n\nBut, this is when I realized the problem with my embedding and why I would never attain my original goal. But, that'll be in the next section. For now, here's the prompt that created all these:\n[q]fashionista, solo, pinup, impasto impressionism. she is a with detailed fluffy fur. her face has a disarming cuteness. she is a cunningly predatory babysitter.\nNegative prompt: sfw, deformed, blurry, bad anatomy, disfigured, poorly drawn face, mutation, mutated, extra limb, ugly, horror, out of focus, depth of field, focal blur[/q]\nI was using a modified prompt that a friend gave me that was intended to try and prevent anatomically anomalies; that's why the \"negative prompt\" sounds so terrible. xD\n\nI eventually started using less verbose negative prompts, as this one was going a little overboard.\n\n[b]What about this \"embedding\" thing?[/b]\n\nAn embedding is a small fragment of data that you could say points to a concept in the AI's \"brain-space\" for lack of a better term. Words in your prompt are represented to the AI as embeddings, which were trained along side the AI itself, so they end up representing concepts that the AI had learned.\n\nCustom embeddings can be created using a process called \"textual inversion\" where you sort of run the AI in reverse.\n\nTo put it in an understandable way, instead of giving the AI a prompt and telling it to generate an image, you show it images and give it a prompt with a blank space in it and ask it to fill in the blank. Eventually, the AI will give you a word (or words) in its own \"language\" that it would recognize as the thing you're showing it.\n\nIt doesn't train the AI anything new; the knowledge was there all along. It just gives you a convenient way to describe a very specific idea that you want represented in an image back to the AI later.\n\nSo, what went wrong?\n\nThe fashionista prompt showed me that the embedding was picking up on way more information than I really wanted. This obviously included her typical style of outfit, but it also meant it was capturing [i]stylistic[/i] information, and I could not find any way to keep it from doing that. I even used my programming skills to try and find new avenues to better control the training process to prevent that, but it was to no avail.\n\nIn other words, I can't use an embedding to create a photo of Taleir because the embedding ends up with something like \"furry artwork of a cartoonish fox character\" encoded into it. That makes sense, but it means the embedding can't generate a photo-realistic Taleir, since that embedding heavily implies a cartoonish style.\n\nSo, I haven't really looked back at this since last year. Figured I'd at least show what I managed to get the AI to spit out for those who are curious about it. Why it suddenly started generating maned-foxes instead of something that looks like Taleir just by adding "pregnant" to the prompt is anyone's guess...  Just a really strange interaction.

The original prompt for this is kinda lost at this point, but I have a prompt from near this point and it probably was something like this:

This was back when I was still aiming for photo-realism.  Using "photo" tended to cause it to generate a random photo that did not involve a Taleir-like character at all, but video game screenshots did better; they just kept on having this sorta cartoony look to them which was not the goal.

Fourth Image:

This was kind of a happy accident.  I was helping a friend by generating character design ideas to help inspire them.  At one point, I dropped my Taleir embedding into the prompt in place of the species we were using and it started generating these Taleir-alikes with really cool bottomless fashion.

Amusingly, some of them end up looking like felt figurines.  It's just kinda neat!

But, this is when I realized the problem with my embedding and why I would never attain my original goal.  But, that'll be in the next section.  For now, here's the prompt that created all these:

I was using a modified prompt that a friend gave me that was intended to try and prevent anatomically anomalies; that's why the "negative prompt" sounds so terrible.  xD

I eventually started using less verbose negative prompts, as this one was going a little overboard.

What about this "embedding" thing?

An embedding is a small fragment of data that you could say points to a concept in the AI's "brain-space" for lack of a better term.  Words in your prompt are represented to the AI as embeddings, which were trained along side the AI itself, so they end up representing concepts that the AI had learned.

Custom embeddings can be created using a process called "textual inversion" where you sort of run the AI in reverse.

To put it in an understandable way, instead of giving the AI a prompt and telling it to generate an image, you show it images and give it a prompt with a blank space in it and ask it to fill in the blank.  Eventually, the AI will give you a word (or words) in its own "language" that it would recognize as the thing you're showing it.

It doesn't train the AI anything new; the knowledge was there all along.  It just gives you a convenient way to describe a very specific idea that you want represented in an image back to the AI later.

So, what went wrong?

The fashionista prompt showed me that the embedding was picking up on way more information than I really wanted.  This obviously included her typical style of outfit, but it also meant it was capturing stylistic information, and I could not find any way to keep it from doing that.  I even used my programming skills to try and find new avenues to better control the training process to prevent that, but it was to no avail.

In other words, I can't use an embedding to create a photo of Taleir because the embedding ends up with something like "furry artwork of a cartoonish fox character" encoded into it.  That makes sense, but it means the embedding can't generate a photo-realistic Taleir, since that embedding heavily implies a cartoonish style.
