The familiar sight dragged another sigh out of Suzie as she made her way inside.\n\nIt seemed like a dream job at the time. Even as a pup, she'd always loved larger creatures... feral elephants, whales, and horses. Wild and free. But then she was introduced to a creature unlike any of these... the dinosaurs. She was smitten. The power, the mystery, and the sheer primal poise they all seemed to carry. And in the adjacent video feed, the females hardly stirred, familiar with the ritual going on nearby. This was the warm up to \"physical congress\" or the corporate way of saying \"sex.\"\n\n With some patience, the specimen she had been waiting for ended up in the right place, and she opened a gate, suddenly allowing it to run out of the main pen, leaving the rest of the males to slow and stop. Her phone startling her,\n\n\"Talk to me, Suzie.\"\n\n\"Uh... there doesn't seem to be a breach.\"\n\n\"That was awfully loud for a 'false-alarm' can you confirm that?\"\n\nSuzie silently counted the meandering males. One-two-three-fou...\n\nOkay... again... 123456-\n\nShe switched off the Klaxxon, bringing the alarm status to an end.\n\n\"Yes sir. All male Carnotaurs accounted for. Let me see what... oh whoa. Found it.\"\n\n\"Hmm?\"\n\nThere it was, they must have been rough housing. Squarely struck one of the decorative trunks.\n\n\"There's no breach. Looks like the tip of one of the taller prop trees broke free of its bolts due to them rough housing. Just tripped the laser sensors up there.\"\n\n\"Can they use it to get out?\"\n\n\"I don't believe so. The angle is way too steep. And even if it was resting on the wall, which it isn't, it probably wouldn't hold their weight. See for yourself.\"\n\nWithout much issue, she'd taken a picture, forwarded it to him, and started playing back the last 5 minutes on the camera, his voice calming at the news,\n\n\"So you're telling me it's under control. Just some damage inside the pen?\"\n\n\" Yes sir. Just a bit more than usual. I'll keep watch while I review the footage and get back to you.\"\n\nThere was an audible sigh of relief from her boss, \n\n\"Keep me posted.\"\n\n*boop*\n\n-----\n\nThe tape revealed exactly what she'd expected. Dega was roughing up the pedigree, unaware it was her who'd let him in to see the females. She huffed softly, stroking the screen casually, \n\n\"Sorry big guy. I know it's been months. Her boss, now there in person, dragged his hand down his face in exasperation. \n\n\"You're telling me that, since it's getting dark, we'll need a light crew, a crane, and four MORE people than our usual maintenance crew just to steady and reattach it... And that is all in several hours AFTER we can relocate the Carnos to the incomplete Orni pen for temporary holding.\"\n\nThe silence said it all. After a short pause, he looked back at Suzie one last time. The older komodo's age betraying him for a moment in his gaze, \n\n\"You said it poses no perimeter threat?\"\n\nShe shook her head as confidently as she could muster with so many eyes on her,\n\n\"No sir. They're currently asleep, but I intend to monitor it closely tonight.\"\n\n\"See that you do.\" A soft wink told her that he had every confidence and was merely performing for the rest of the staff. He continued, \n\n\"In that case, we'll resume work in the morning as usual and repair this damage once we have a holding pen for our troublemakers. Good night, everyone.\"\n\nAnd with that the party was over. Her boss crossed to her and placed a wary hand on her shoulder. \n\n\"I know you love them, much like I do. So be careful. If there is trouble, stick to protocol. I'd much rather have you alive than all of them if it came down to it... understand?\"\n\nWhere did THIS come from??
