Regardless of ideology, every faction and nation back on the Great Mother is focused on their own problems and a potential looming global thermonuclear conflict. The Empire of New Hope has a renewed interest attempting to hold control over numerous minor tributaries in the outlying indies leading to proxy conflicts and 'forever-wars'. The Optimum Corporation's aggressive rollout of high-end robotics and artificial intelligence systems demands countless rare resources. The coalition surrounding the EoNH is, of course, building up their own armies in response to the EoNH's conflicts waiting for a moment of weakness. Overseas, countless nations of competing philosophies have other, similar problems with one another and the OWG (One World Government, Great Mothers' analogue for the UN) continues to be a hotbed of heated conflict.\n\nThe end result is, of course, the neglect and one-sided pillaging of the Aretian resources for these domestic issues. Aretian Separatist sympathies are growing rapidly among the Aretian colonies. Ledgers are forged and resources are purposefully 'lost' or not reported in the first place. Weapons are stockpiled, industry is built, and the stage is set. The final straw that ignited the Aretian Separatist uprising was an opportunity. The commander of the OWG RPBS (Red Planet Boosting Station) was dismissed from his position for his powdered petrol huffing addiction and rather than stepping down, defected to the Aretian Separatist movement. A strange incident, but one that was the instrument of revolution. The Aretian Separatists, angered at the neglected development of the new planetary colonies, rose up. The coups were surprisingly bloodless in a lot of areas with many colonies expelling loyalists to return to the Great Mother. Some colonies where the Separatist movement was the weakest had the biggest rifts and civil wars broke out. However, there are some nations unwilling to take a single step back and sent reinforcements.\n\nThe EoNH is one such faction. With a large loyalist base and a staunch refusal to lose any more ground, the EoNH deployed two mobile armies to reinforce their fissile material mining colonies and made development pledges to hold on to the loyalists' sympathies. The Valerian North Indies Mobile Marines, normally intended to fight a potential war against the Optimum Megacorporation in the case of a war was deployed along with the Bush Republic Fufulde Armored Corps. Despite not being involved in the minor tributary conflicts, rebels in the homefront saw this as an opportunity to launch massive scale coordinated attacks against counter insurgent garrisons in their respective regions. This backfired as the garrisons were not at all weakened and would spiral into huge counter-insurgent counteroffensives that would decisively end or cripple most of the forever-wars, ironically enabling even more resources to be diverted to the Aretian conflict.\n\nThe current year (as in most of my art that takes place in this setting) is 2184 AA. Streamline, a Valerian floofshark mobile marine sniper was sent to the Aretian colonies in order to defend them. Loyalist unity within' the Valerian colonies is high but Separatists, obviously, see any offworld presence as a threat and have escalated the conflict into a semi-symmetrical one. \n\nHere we have Streamline and his spotter pinned to the side of a rock, having set off a glue mine that has pinned his battle buddy to the rocks and him to the ground. Stuck in place, he struggles and squirms, helpless and knowing that the Separatists will be here soon to collect them and take them prisoner. He can barely move, squirming against the impossibly tight latex that has them trapped like flies squirming in a glue trap.
