It had been a pretty chilly and cold winter that lasted well into springtime, until temperatures had finally begun to rise. For Secco Clawmire, this brought good news and good tidings, as he had been looking forward to the arrival of the new season. While thriving more in the cold, he had expectations for summer months thanks to his scheduled holiday break to come at this very season, and he had been planning a trip with Maria Katswell for some time now.\n\tSecco thought they didn’t spend much time together during winter, thanks to a visit by Clarisa Lozano, on top of Jessica Huelington and Wulf Havard hanging out with the couple, the latter having established a relationship together. It had been a rather uneventful season, only the season greetings and gatherings were done. For the new years, the community held a get together party where other family members could be invited, where a lot of relatives had come, including both Kitty and Kattswell. It was nice to see them not fight, even for a night. The rest of the winter had work, indoor gym training, and not much else. But ever since spring arrived, good changes had been in motion. Clarisa had gone to spend some time elsewhere, only coming back by the autumn, and Jessica was planning to go with Wulf on a cruise ship in the summer together. And Secco invited Mrs. Katswell for the two of them to stay at a luxury beach hotel, something she seemed to accept very gladly.\n\tBut his day was not done yet, and he still had tasks to do. Right now he had just arrived at the supermarket, and was shopping for groceries for his home. He had just left work a few minutes ago and would soon be able to enjoy the comfort and tranquillity. –“Hmmm, let’s see here. Perhaps a ready made meal would do well for today. Not going to hurt much, will it?” – Secco asked himself, pondering about a pretty good looking foot-long sandwich inside the refrigerated space. The flavours varied, but it caught his attention the one with ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato and parmesan. He picked it up, and decided a good orange juice would go well with the meal. The rest of things he had to buy included fabric softener and cleaning products, and mouth hygiene products. The good thing about all this was that he didn’t have to worry too much about big purchases because his flight was due in the next week, and most of his bag was packed, only a few extra clothes would be added in due time for the day of the flight.\n\tAfter he paid the purchase, he made his way back to the car and got back into the traffic, which sure was extending itself yet again. He sighed and knew it was all thanks to the damn torrential summer rain that this was happening. Even in the winter this sort of traffic jam seemed to happen, all thanks to the storms. –‘Come on, now – don’t get annoyed at this sort of crap. You’ll be home soon and wash yourself.’ – Secco thought to himself. It was hard, but he did his best. He had to thank his job for the high annoyance he was having – a lot of customer support and especially the difficult kind of troubleshooting. On top of helping the management team in solving internal issues in regards to the bank system and general accountability matters, he had a lot of things to do altogether. But this wasn’t going to drive him nuts – he knew what he had to do, and plus: he would soon be off for his holidays. Just three days left, and he was off for thirty days straight! At least his company was very generous with the holidays. Even if you had to work an entire year, you had the choice of saving up to 30 days in total for a break, or they had to give you extra money if you kept on working. Since Secco was working for one year uninterrupted, his holidays included 30 days off, uninterrupted. Bank work could be harsh and full of headaches, but it paid well and gave great benefits to him.\n\t–“Mnnn, yes – I wonder what I should do at the tropical island? We’re going for a five star hotel, pretty much, so I better start thinking about something!” – Secco spoke to himself, hoping it wouldn’t be rainy. Then again, the travel agent had told him and Mrs. Katswell how it was going to be the dry season in the tropics, and it was the perfect opportunity to spend time. If they were to go during the winter, it would be the wet season, and too much rain would definitely ruin their vacation. Plus, the hotel offered enough comfort for many extra activities, outside and inside the facility. Sauna, sports field, swim park, activities focused on people of all ages, and so on. –“Whew, I should think about it better whenever I get there. It’s just too much to think about!” – Secco finished, instead using his attention to focus on the traffic.\n\tA few minutes later, he was able to arrive home. He quickly got the contents off the car, and placed it carefully in the correct spot around his home. Pity Clarisa wasn’t there with him, she was a big help in those matters! –“Right, where else…” – Secco said to himself, placing the sandwich down on a plate, and the juice going directly to the refrigerator, to keep it cool. Satisfied with everything in its correct place, he locked his car, and made his way to the shower. After taking off all his clothes, he had decided it would be a good idea to trim some of his furs. Being a snow leopard was no joke, and especially if he was going to the tropics. He wouldn’t be fully trimmed, but a considerable reduction was necessary, way beyond what he could do alone. He probably would have to phone the ladies at the saloon and request a haircut and a trim on his furs, one day before his flight. –“Hmmm! Yes, that would definitely be a good idea!” – He said to himself, hoping in and facing the cold water.\n\tSecco let out a sigh, loving how the cold water splashed against his body, and by that making his senses feel awake. It was like being dropped in a hostile environment, where you had to get your survival instinct in check, at any present danger. But also the fact how it kept him awake, especially after such stressful days of work. The water splashed against his coat of fur and made it all wet, especially touching his other parts of the body – buttcheeks, chest, things and even the privates. The soap felt good on his arms, back and legs too, of course, especially once the shampoo was applied afterwards. By the time Secco left the bath, there was no steam, just the cool air mixing in with the moist, wet air, as the storm raged on outside. Secco put on some summer clothes, and let out his work attire to take some air in the laundry. As he was about to sit down and eat, he received a knock on his back door. –“Huh? Who can it be now? And through the back door?” – He asked himself.\n\tUpon answering the door, he could see Maria Katswell standing outside, with a raincoat and a huge umbrella. –“Good evening, Secco! May I come in?” – She asked. –“Apologies for coming through here, it’s raining after all, and I would not like to make a mess through the home’s foyer! Where may I put these things?” – She explained herself, sounding pretty excited.\n\t–“Katswell! What a pleasant surprise. Sure, do come in. You may put these here, if you please.” – Secco replied, offering the older cat to enter. She was carrying something with her, and he had helped her. –“Please follow me, you may put your umbrella and your raincoat here too.” – He commented, helping her to do so. Katswell had been well dressed, all things considered.\n\t–“Thank you. I see you had bought a sandwich for your meal, but I decided to bring you something special. Here – potatoes with meat and a bacon pie. Just finished them, they are ready to eat.” – She said, offering a smile.\n\tSecco’s eyes opened wide, noticing the lovely meal that she had just prepared for him as a surprise. –“Oh wow! Thanks a bunch, Maria!” – He replied, fetching his juice from the refrigerator and putting an extra cup for her. He then grabbed a plate for the two of them, knowing she would surely appreciate sharing a meal. He then stored the sandwich for a pre gym training meal. –“Here, for the two of us.” – Secco commented.\n\t–“Thank you Secco, but I am not that hungry. I will want a bite of the pie, but not much else. Perhaps a cup of water.” – Mrs. Katswell replied, as she sat down and watched him fetch utensils.\n\t–“Nonsense. I’ll share a nice size for you, and we’ll share the carton of juice together.” – Secco replied. –“Wasn’t expecting you to show up! How are you?” – He asked further.\n\t–“I really am not all too hungry, not to worry, Secco. I will eat only a small portion of the pie, thank you. And I am well! You seem to be fresh off a bath. Has your work been stressful lately?” – Maria replied, knowing full well how his day to day activities were.\n\t–“You sure know a lot about others, huh?” – Secco asked, amazed at how good a memory she had, as he served her slice of pie and poured juice for her, doing the same for himself. After taking a bite, he let out a hum with deep delight, her meal was lovely! –“Delicious. You’re a great cook!” – Secco commented, prompting the elder cat to blush. –“And to answer your question – yes, I have been working a lot as of late. Even having less time for gymnastics thanks to my workload. It makes sense, of course, I’m going to leave for holidays soon. Or I should say, we both will!” – He commented, looking forward to it.\n\t–“I have high expectations for this holiday vacation.” – Katswell commented, showing her willingness to participate. –“I have my bags ready, and even had to buy new outfits, hats, sunscreens, towels… you name it! A whole package! It has been forever since I went on a vacation to a summer resort.” – She explained, taking a bite out of her pie and chewing it.\n\tSecco was glad to hear that. He knew she was going, of course, but listening to her talk about the fact that she had to shop for new products and sound excited about it made him feel extra special in the fact that they were going out together. –“Hey, there is always time for that, isn’t there? I’m sure you’ll like your new stuff without problem.” – He responded, taking a bite out of the meat with some potatoes, feeling the delight of the taste of them.\n\t–“I do think so. Goodness, I cannot remember when was the last time I went to a resort. I think at least 11 years! Pretty sure it was that long.” – Katswell realised, having taken another bite out of her slice. –“I have been a fan of scenic sightseeing since my early adulthood, it will be pleasant to do that once more.” – She commented.\n\tSecco could notice the tone of her voice, which brought in good memories for her. –“What sort of places did you like going the most? Cruisers, beach resorts, mountain resorts, tourist resorts, private holiday homes?” – He pondered, wondering what she would like the most.\n\tKatswell waited to give a proper answer, knowing this wasn’t hard – she just had to think of the best answer to give him. She liked the hot climate, but scenic tourist resorts were just fine as well. –“I do like beach resorts, yes. I do like the touristy locations, on thermal waters or beside a big farming location with all amenities offered to those around. I remember one I went with my family which was in a countryside location, but it had both the amenities of a hotel as well as a five star ranch, which included pool, sauna, great banquets, horse riding, activities with hotel staff. Definitely a great time.” – She commented. –“Another time was when I went to a beach resort that looked somewhat similar to where we are going to, and had similar amenities. Honestly, I think both are great, as long as you can rest and feel someone taking care of you for five days!”.\n\t–“Oh yeah, you told me about the beach resort you went to! That looked pretty nice.” – Secco replied, recalling their visit to the tourism agency and the wonderful conversation the three of them had with a nice attendant. –“The good thing is that you’ll be able to relive that moment once again, under different circumstances – but still!” – Secco said, taking a sip of his juice afterwards. The beef went pretty nicely afterwards.\n\tKatswell nodded, happily. She finished her part of the meal and refused another plate, having been more than satisfied with her own meal. Her focus was geared towards the type of activities she planned for during her stay at the resort. –“Goodness, I keep forgetting the name… which was it again?” – She asked, wanting to remember the name.\n\t–“Kuluma Ruar Resort, ma’am.” – Secco replied, with a chuckle. –“Not the easiest name to remember, for sure.” – He agreed.\n\t–“Thank you, Secco!” – Katswell excused herself. –“Yes, I have some things planned for the type of activities I would like to do there. Spa and massages for at least three days, that is for sure. We are staying for a grand total of 21 days after all, so I’m sure we will think about something fun!” – She commented with exuberance upon the many activities that the two of them would have at the getaway retreat.\n\t–“How are Kitty and Katty reacting to this news? And your other senior friends?” – Secco wondered, after munching on some potatoes coated with lovely gravy cream. He had been so busy as of late that the only person he had been with was Clarisa and Jessica, and thus, had been unable to gauge the reaction of Maria Katswell’s daughters.\n\t–“Katty seems to think it’s a worthwhile rest for me, and Kitty thought I needed a vacation, so they seem to be happy in their own ways, I suppose. Myrtle and Hortense seemed to be pretty glad, but I could definitely feel some sort of envy from them. Not the bad kind, mind you! I guess they would just love to have a younger man and take them to feel alive again. I do understand where they are coming from, but it wasn’t a direct critique against you.” – Katswell commented, having taken another sip from the juice.\n\tSecco chewed on his food, figuring that would be the type of reaction that elderly ladies like Maria Katswell’s friends would have. He couldn’t fault them, maybe they would be lucky to have someone eventually. He then proceeded to eat the rest of his meal, which was almost over. By the time he finished it, he heaved air, wiped his mouth and gave a good sigh. –“That was fantastic, Maria! Thank you so much.” – He commended her.\n\t–“You’re welcome, Secco. I’m glad you liked it!” – Katswell said, then helped him wash the dishes, despite his protests. In the end she helped him, and then decided to be off, as she had other duties to do at work. –“I need to keep myself well prepared, but I will be keeping in touch.” – She had said, after dressing in her raincoat and taking her umbrella.\n\t–“Okay. Thanks for the visit, Maria. That was a lovely meal, glad I could taste something like that.” – Secco said, being a gentleman and helping her with her things. –“Take care!” – He said for her, hoping she wouldn’t get too wet from the rain, before feeling her kiss him on the cheek, which made him smile.\n\t–“You too!” – Katswell responded, placing a kiss on his cheek, and walking back to her home. She walked carefully, and thanked herself for realising she ought to take a bath considering the rain as well as all the work she did through the day. –“Dangit, the rain really is getting stronger, isn’t it? We’ll surely have a rainy evening. Great to sleep to the sound of water droplets splashing against the ground.” – She noticed, making her way back home, and entering her house through the back door. She took off her rain boots and her raincoat and placed them neatly in the laundry, and her umbrella in a proper part just so it wouldn’t splash her clean ground. Just to be sure, she decided to brush her ground again.\n\t–“Alrighty, that’s good enough for now. To brush my teeth and then have a good bath!” – Katswell said to herself, going towards her bedroom, and taking off her clothes, and separating her nightgown and slippers, and considering any other things she had to do. For now there was nothing much else, just a call or message wishing her daughters a good night, and an overall good night to all her elderly friends. It was certainly an interesting evening routine, but not too bad!\n\tKatswell brushed her teeth while thinking about all the fun activities at the beach. She would need to organise herself, and then separate things for each day so she would be able to enjoy every single activity they offered. She decided that it would be good to rest for the first few days, with the spa treatment and exercises for elders that are offered for folk like her. Thinking even deeper about that, she could even make new friends! –“That would be an interesting thing, for sure!” – She said to herself, after brushing her teeth.\n\tKatswell then hopped in the shower, where the faucet let out warm water. – not too hot, but neither too cold. She had the heebie-jeebies in either extreme, and her coat of furs didn’t really like shock. Since the weather had been getting hot as of late, she figured it would hurt to bathe in a relatively mild to cool water, which splashed against her fur and allowed her to calm down from all the built up exercises she did along the day. She sighed, and wondered how much better it would be to have someone treat her properly, like a person giving her proper care. True, she did go to see a physician every now and then, and while it was more practical for her circulatory system altogether, the spa would definitely pick up those tiny parts that she wanted to treat around her joints. –“Hmmm… yes, these are definitely in need of some attention.” – She said to herself, as she used a sponge full of soap to clean her coat of hair, massaging her thighs, her legs, her arms, her chest, and everything else.\n\tKatswell proceeded with the bathing, by washing and rinsing her hair with proper shampoo, and making sure to use an after bath lotion to get some nice smell afterwards. –“Oof, good thing my body doesn’t hurt too much, and that I have both this rail and this seat whenever I need to sit down. It’s always at this time of the day that some parts begin to ache if I stand up for too long.” – Maria said to herself, making sure to be careful to not force her body too much. Good thing she was almost over.\n\tAfter leaving the bath, Katswell did her typical routine – wash the inner parts, making sure to use two towels to take the most humidity out of her coat. It could be irritating to use them, perhaps it was time to buy new ones from the store, those very heavy towels that were enough to clean everything. –“Hmmm, no matter. Just got to use the blow dryer and then I’m off to sleep!” – She said to herself, noticing she already brought water for the night and her cell phone was charging. The noisy blow dryer then took all of the humidity away from her body, while she made sure to sit down and not stand still for too long.\n\t–“Time for bed!” – Katswell said to herself, once she was done, putting on her modest nightgown, and laying down on her comfortable mattress. She then turned on her fan at a moderate to slow speed, just so she wouldn’t be too hot during her sleep. –“Let’s see. How are my daughters? Any new updates on my group?” – She went on, diminishing the lights of the room.\n\tThere was nothing much in her elderly pussycat group, just the elderly ladies wishing one another good night, in which she did the same. Katty had sent a cute sticker wishing her mother a good night and a voice message. As for Kitty, she was asking how her mother was, who replied she was well, and excited for her trip. She answered the same to Katty, who would probably only reply later in the evening. Almost immediately, Kitty wrote in her usual demeanour of “no news means good news”, and was happy for her mother. She really wanted Maria to have a lot of fun, and it was evident on the voice call they had earlier.\n\t–“Good night, my love. Sweet dreams, your mother loves you!” – Maria sent a voice message, one for each daughter but both with the same degree of love, and then went to sleep.\n─\n\tThree days had passed and Maria was ready for her voyage. Their flight would leave at the beginning of the evening, and they would arrive on the morning of the local time. Their flight was due in two days, so she was getting prepared for everything so the following day she could save her sleep while in the flight. She had never gotten used to riding planes, and knew it would not be on this occasion that she would lose her fear of flights. But luckily for her, she had a solution for it – a nice relaxation pill, which would guarantee her sleep, and she had told Secco to wake her up when they arrived at Kulumua Ruar City. Right now, she was doing a double check to make sure she was carrying everything and wouldn’t risk forgetting anything.\n\t–“Hmmm, let us see again – I have packed all my summer clothes and my summer gear, enough so I could last for 21 days. At least a few swimsuits, some pairs of sandals, sunscreen, sunglasses, fur lotion… Mnnnn, yes. This bag looks good. Now let us see the other bag – I have packed my modest sundress, my summer clothes, towels in case I need them… extra fur coat care… toothbrush, hair brush, mouthwash, a first aid kid… I honestly think I am very well prepared already! Even if I have to take two bags and an extra handbag, which in fact has everything I need – a handkerchief, my glasses, hand, arms, feet and legs lotions a comb. And of course, my purse in case I need to make any purchase.” – Katswell said to herself, having realised she didn’t forget anything at all indeed. She felt content, with her skills being sharp enough to know the basics of preparation.\n\tThe day of the voyage was coming close, and she had been feeling anxious enough already. So much so that her daughter Katty was visiting her to make sure everything was fine with her – which of course was, but she liked the extra company. Being that this was a pretty successful venture, we shared our gains and we travel every single year of our lives.” – Mabel commented.\n\t–“We worked on it together for the most part. Especially the bakery segment, some of us took care of it in a few days, while the others we focused on our cleaning company, depending on how the demands went.” – Georgia said.\n\t–“Interesting! Seems like it was a good venture, with the three of you being able to balance everything out evenly. I assume there were troublesome times as well?” – Secco asked, interested.\n\t–“Indeed there was, 15 or so years ago, a few years before we retired, we figured there weren’t as many clients willing to contact us for cleaning services, plus many of our partners we knew either moved on for their own segment, or had closed doors. Her focus was geared towards the type of activities she planned for during her stay at the resort. –“Goodness, I keep forgetting the name… which was it again?” – She asked, wanting to remember the name.
\t–“Kuluma Ruar Resort, ma’am.” – Secco replied, with a chuckle. –“Not the easiest name to remember, for sure.” – He agreed.
\t–“Thank you, Secco!” – Katswell excused herself. –“Yes, I have some things planned for the type of activities I would like to do there. Spa and massages for at least three days, that is for sure. We are staying for a grand total of 21 days after all, so I’m sure we will think about something fun!” – She commented with exuberance upon the many activities that the two of them would have at the getaway retreat.
\t–“How are Kitty and Katty reacting to this news? And your other senior friends?” – Secco wondered, after munching on some potatoes coated with lovely gravy cream. \tSecco chewed on his food, figuring that would be the type of reaction that elderly ladies like Maria Katswell’s friends would have. He couldn’t fault them, maybe they would be lucky to have someone eventually. He then proceeded to eat the rest of his meal, which was almost over. By the time he finished it, he heaved air, wiped his mouth and gave a good sigh. –“That was fantastic, Maria! Thank you so much.” – He commended her.

In the end she helped him, and then decided to be off, as she had other duties to do at work. –“I need to keep myself well prepared, but I will be keeping in touch.” – She had said, after dressing in her raincoat and taking her umbrella.
\t–“Okay. Thanks for the visit, Maria. That was a lovely meal, glad I could taste something like that.” – Secco said, being a gentleman and helping her with her things. –“Take care!” – He said for her, hoping she wouldn’t get too wet from the rain, before feeling her kiss him on the cheek, which made him smile.

And of course, the unpacking.” – Secco commented, his belly groaning lightly in excitement for the upcoming activities. –“I definitely want to know more once we get there!” – He continued, showing his excitement. He had commented with Jessica at that party on what ideas he had in mind, and she suggested a few things for him to go after.
\t–“Hmmm…” – Katswell thought for a considerable time. –“I think I am content enough with getting there and finding out what choices I have at hand. The way I see it, we are going to a place where we have an option to choose many things, and it will be better to decide once we actually get there. I am, however, positively excited to see what these choices will be!” – She replied, giving a yawn. She was tired, and was willing to sleep during their voyage.
\tThe flight in itself wasn’t too problematic. The boarding was comfortable enough, and so was the air service. Secco and Katswell decided to not hold back and fly in first class, so they could have a comfortable position during their flights and be able to rest well. In the end, Katswell was able to eat a short meal, and was able to fall asleep, while Secco spent time drinking, watching TV programmes, and especially enjoying his comfort. It lasted longer than what they were expecting, but it had been a flight without any stops into Kuluma Ruar City. It was almost afternoon by the time they arrived there, and Secco made sure to handle the paperwork, while Katswell could still feel groggy from the flight. The weather was sunny as promised, and they hitched a ride which soon took the two of them into the paradisiacal resort as promised. The check-in was quick enough and without major troubles, and soon the two of them were in their hotel rooms, with baggage and everything in place. The only thing remaining was to unpack things and place them in order, which they did after an overall nap, where they woke up only later in the afternoon.
\t–“Mrhh… looks like today is kinda wasted. Let’s at least check out the hotel first, and then we can enjoy the day tomorrow.” – Secco suggested, noticing the overall tiredness from Katswell.
\t–“A shame, I really was excited to see more, but the jet lag is not helping.” – Katswell said. –“At least, let’s put on some better clothes!” – She said, not minding wearing something more comfortable for the weather.
\tThey did as agreed, spending some time seeing the many luxuries the hotel had to offer. There was a variety of activities to do on a pool, a complete spa, a gymnasium, many pools spread through the hotel, a lounge, restaurants, and trails so guests could walk in the vicinity of the hotel, offering a wide variety of activities. It even included a soccer field, a tennis field, a hospital, and much more!
\tKatswell decided to spend some time in the indoor pool, where she decided to relax. She even had met a group consisting of a nice dog lady - Mabel, a rabbit lady - Hester, and an elderly lioness - Georgia - around her same age, where she spent time talking to. Secco meanwhile spent his time practising on some machinery, and then hitting the pool. All in all, it had been a pleasant day, which was concluded with a nice massage for all five of them, followed by dinner, and then a bath and sleep. And their holidays were just getting started.

It had already been 10 days that Secco and Katswell had been staying in the hotel. So far, the two of them had been able to enjoy a myriad of activities together, including: hanging in the vicinity of the hotel, at the outdoor areas to do whatever they planned to do (their favourite activity); swim; practice exercises; spend some time at the spa; chat with the friends they have met through their stay, and much more. They woke up early to make use of the breakfast, just before enjoying the free time they had at their expense later on. The only real plan the two had for today was to watch a small event which would take place inside the hotel, involving a local theatrical stage play. Right after their routine morning shower, the duo made their way to the banquet hall, which was filled with people to eat and fill their bellies with all their breakfast needs. Katswell was particularly happy today, sensing a good feeling in the air.
\t–“I am feeling great today, Secco. Perhaps it is the experience of staying at a five star hotel, with most of our expenses paid, and especially the rather fresh air we have been getting here. Even though these last few days we got some clouds during the sunset, I am happy to see we haven’t been getting drought or floods.” – Katswell commented, as they walked through the hallways, seeing other guests making their way as well.
\t–“Yeah, you’ve been feeling much more jovial and upbeat, I reckon.” – Secco commented, joyfully. –“I’m very happy with how you’re feeling so well these days, it’s almost as if you’re young again, Miss K.” – He continued.
\tKatswell gave it a thought and he seemed to have a very good point. –“I am quite certain it is thanks to the care which the nice ladies at the spa are giving to me. I feel almost twenty years younger already!” – She commented, almost exaggerating, but driving her point home.
\tEven if Secco knew that it was an exaggeration on her part, he could believe it. He had accompanied her to a few spa sessions himself, deciding to find out and see if it was any big deal, and came out pretty relaxed, feeling like a new man himself. Not a bad experience, and he would definitely go there again. –“Well, that is still good. How are you feeling about today’s show? I wanna spend my entire day outside today, sunbathing and swimming in the sea!” – He commented, just as they entered the banquet hall.
\t–“Hmmm, I was thinking of doing that too. The sun will do quite well for my coat!” – Katswell replied, as they went through a relatively crowded hall. –“Let’s see how our days go!” – She replied, just as she saw one of her elderly lady friends waving to her, sharing the same table.
\tJust as amusing, Secco’s companions from the hotel were sitting right beside that table - a leopard - Reynard - and a tiger - Genghe. With that meet up, everyone decided to make a single table so they could talk and eat together. –“How nice it is to see you guys all together, ha!” – Secco commented, after greeting Georgia.
\t–“Yeah, I didn’t know you were with such a company either, Secco.” – Genghe commented, offering smiles and greeting others.
\t–“What a handsome young man!” – Hester said to Georgia in a light hearted and respectful manner, finding positive the feline traits from Secco and his newfound buddies.
\tEach person on the table first got their items to eat, and once everyone was eating their proper breakfast, they introduced themselves to one another properly. Mabel, Hester and Georgia were a group of three elderly women who were enjoying their elderly years in style, while Reynard and Genghe were very close friends going after adventures and wanting to live life at its fullest.
\t–“How pleasant! You boys are on the verge of living out your great years. Be sure to enjoy it to the fullest!” – Mabel commented, offering a pleasant smile.
\t–“Ah, to be young again! Great memories of many good times in adventures with people at this age!” – Georgia commented, positively.
\t–“Well, from the looks of it, you ladies are active and still sharp. Nothing wrong with finding an excuse to be alive!” – Reynard commented, offering a grin.
\t–“Especially if you have a good reason to go out and enjoy life!” – Genghe completed his sentence, thinking the same thing.
\t–“Tell me… what do you three work as? And what was a particular reason to come to such an amazing location?” – Hester asked Secco, Reynard and Genghe in particular.
\t–“I work as a junior bank manager, overseeing the accounts of users and doing back and forths between the maintenance team in whatever they need to work on, as well coordinating the help desk team in any higher doubts.” – Secco replied, after chewing some of his food.
\t–“Me and Genghe are part of a soccer team. I’m the centre back.” – Reynard said, being cordial and jovial in his mannerisms.
\t–“And I’m the goalkeeper.” – Genghe concluded for him, with the same level of joviality as his partner, before taking a bite out of his stew.
\t–“And we play in a major league for Hrothward F.C.. Whenever we can, we travel all around the world to enjoy our breaks.” – Reynard said, showing a small gallery of pictures in his smartphone of him and his partners, as well as other venues they went to play in, even in other countries. –“Even if it seems like it’s mostly fun and we go around globetrotting, our work requires us to always be in shape.” – He commented, once everyone had seen the picture, appreciating the reaction each one of them gave.
\t–“One thing that I don’t like in this job, at all - the injuries. You better believe it - you use your legs a lot to play soccer, and being fit and keeping a good balance is key in such cases. The problem is whenever you’re feeling something on your legs, or even your back. You have a reserve on your team, but you can’t depend on them too much - especially if your team depends on you.” – Genghe said. –“But so far, I don’t think there is anything too bad we went through. Mine was perhaps a bruise which I had to recover for a week or so, but Reynard here had a pretty bad knee injury once. I think it was amazing how he could fully recover too.” – He went on, going back to eating his stew.
\tEveryone seemed to be surprised by that. –“Dear heavens, what happened exactly?” – Georgia was the first to manifest, sounding concerned.
\t–“Well, it was a pretty bad leg injury I had some years ago. I had to stay out of the field for at least three months, and it was a slow recovery. Thankfully, the club had been able to pay for the expenses in treatment, and I didn’t do anything during my recovery. But I was able to get back into the game and I’m feeling great, honestly.” – Reynard said, going back to eating his meal.
\t–“That’s pretty damn nice. Congrats on getting where you two are now. I feel like you both earned it!” – Secco replied, pretty happy with their achievements.
\t–“Agreed!” – Mabel said, followed by her other friends.
\t–“How about you ladies? What did you use to work as? I assume most of you have a side job, or are you retired?” – Secco asked, prompting the curiosity of many.
\t–“Well, I have been a housewife for most of my life. I did frequent a few clubs where I met women around my age, so much so I keep a good relationship with them to this day. Usually we do go out, but only for trivial activities. Let me see if I have a picture of them. One moment.” – Katswell said, using her cellphone to try and find her gallery of images. –“This is a couple of younger friends, who are nearby neighbours of mine - Wellington and Georgina Cogsworth. These two here are my friends Myrtle Maxwell and Hortense Botley. I met Secco a year ago, and we have been neighbours for some time.” – Katswell explained her group of friends, highlighting who they were.
\t–“Huh! That seems almost like a small world. I know Myrtlefrom an event I went to many years ago. When you mentioned the name I wasn’t sure, but yes, it is her!” – Mabel said, happy. –“Oh my, it has been such a long time, do you have her contact?” – She asked.
\tKatswell happily obliged and gave her Myrtle’s contact, who thanked afterwards. The three lady friends then each explained what they had worked as, and how they were able to save money to enjoy their retirement.
\t–“Pretty much, we were part of a cleaning company that administered a group of cleaners to work on specific segments of the market. On the side, we also had a bakery which we still work for demands from time to time. Being that this was a pretty successful venture, we shared our gains and we travel every single year of our lives.” – Mabel commented.
\t–“We worked on it together for the most part. Especially the bakery segment, some of us took care of it in a few days, while the others we focused on our cleaning company, depending on how the demands went.” – Georgia said.
\t–“Interesting! Seems like it was a good venture, with the three of you being able to balance everything out evenly. I assume there were troublesome times as well?” – Secco asked, interested.
\t–“Indeed there was, 15 or so years ago, a few years before we retired, we figured there weren’t as many clients willing to contact us for cleaning services, plus many of our partners we knew either moved on for their own segment, or had closed doors. This is where we decided to dedicate our attention towards working with the bakery. It was worth it, because the demand was still there and we had less trouble altogether. It was a great investment!” – Hester had said, remembering both the great and hard years the three had together.
\t–“The best of all was how even in the toughest moments, none of us ever considered quitting, even if we tended to argue on the best move forward. Friendships last through perilous times as well.” – Georgia commented, being happy with how things went through in the end.
\tEveryone at the table agreed, and they talked for a little while. After everyone had done their digestion, the group of seven agreed to spend some time outside, enjoying the sun. Reynard and Genghe wanted to catch some waves, Secco and Maria some jogging and quality time, while the three senior ladies wanted to enjoy the sun. They had gone to their respective rooms to change into something more adequate, with the ones finishing first waiting for the others at the lobby. Once they were all together, they continued their overall conversation, this time sharing thoughts about their experience so far in the country.
\t–“Honestly, I think this is one of the better five-star resorts I’ve ever been to. The weather is perfect for this time of the year, plenty of sunshine and good waves, professional service from the staff… couldn’t ask for something better. ” – Genghe commented, as he carried his surfboard on the walkway as they headed to the beach.
\t–“Do you surf, Secco? I could always find a surfboard for you if you’d like.” – Reynard asked, as he too carried his board towards the beach.
\tSecco had thought about it before. –“Well, I had surfed I think once or twice. I would need a few lessons in it, perhaps at a future date or next opportunity. Thanks, still.” – He answered, really wanting to try something out before the vacation was over.
\t–“Just be sure to tell us, alright?” – Genghe prompted, and Secco nodded, thanking them.
\tOnce they got to the beach, they split into their own group. Secco and Katswell were enjoying the sunny day while walking over the sand, feeling the great effect it had under their soles. Therapeutic, almost. The beach was relatively populated, but nothing too noisy or too bad.
\t–“Oh how I missed being on the seaside. I could listen to the sound of the waves to put me to sleep any day.” – Katswell commented, as they walked through the less crowded spaces of the beach. Seeing children playing as well as guests having a good time made her smile. –“It is a great shame I haven’t chosen retirement in such a lovely location such as this. Our city isn’t too far away from the coast, and I think I’d do well going back there more often.” – She continued.
\t–“Hey, don’t be too hard on yourself. Perhaps you didn’t consider it, and there is always a chance for you to do that again once we get back. How much does it cost to renew your driving licence?” – Secco asked, looking at her as they talked, but also surveying around to appreciate the beauty of the flatland, where one could see small islands and an infinite sea as far as the eye could reach.
\t–“I should go after that information once I get back. Heavens, I have really let myself go in taking care of a few things. Whenever I think I fixed everything I realise there is more to it.” – Maria said, chuckling at the absurdity of it all. –“But hey, I do feel much better overall. Even seeing some older pictures of me and my friends before I met you I can see how alive I am. It’s just a path of self improvement until I get better.” – She continued, commenting to herself almost as much as replying to Secco. Her tone was happy, despite her realisation, thanks to her taking steps to fix herself.
\t–“I’m glad you’re conscious of that, Maria. I mean, nothing is impossible to fix, I like to think. I’m just happy to be one of the reasons you decided to better yourself, being the third or so reason, behind your daughters and friends. You’re making great progress, I feel!” – Secco said, as they continued walking through the sand, as the sun showered them with its rays. Secco was glad his fur had been trimmed, while keeping it at a decent size.
\tMaria laughed heartily in agreement, as they continued to tread on the sand. Before she knew it, she saw Secco making a run for it, as the coast stretched for a while still. –“Hey!!! Where are you going, Secco?” – She asked, puzzled.
\tSecco had decided this could be a fun activity for the two of them to try out. –“Let’s see how good you are at exercises, Maria! Let’s make a run for the other end!” – He said, leaving her behind, but not so far behind.
\t–“Dang it! I don’t think I can run too fast! I’ll try my best, but don’t go too far!” – Maria said, recalling her younger years of saying something similar to her daughters, especially Katty, whenever she was naughty.
\tSecco had decided to be easy on her, as he knew her age wouldn’t permit a fast sprint. He went at a relatively quick pace, heading towards a point in the hotel’s coast, making sure to not go too far so their way back wouldn’t be too bad either. The sand was sure to give him some challenge for him to keep balance, and he made sure to not overdo - otherwise he would end up tripping and falling. –“Yeah, it feels great to run!” – He said to himself, also making sure not to bump on anyone from his path.
\t–‘This is taking me back to when Kitty and Katty were kids! Secco sure can run!’ – Maria thought to herself, being careful in her moderate run. She noticed Secco was slowing down, both because they were on the limits of the hotel’s property, as well as because she thought it was thanks to her manner of running.
\t–“Alright, Mrs. K! Let’s go back now.” – Secco commented, being in second place now, and making sure to run all the way back where they were.
\t–“Augh, Secco!” – Maria commented, letting out a chuckle in a mix of annoyance but also good sportsmanship. It was the way all the way back to where they were, and she made sure to be careful.
\tBy the time they were back, Secco had won both competitions, making sure to set up the large umbrella, place the towels and chairs around them so they could properly rest. While at it, he decided to pop off two soda cans so they could drink a relatively cool drink.
\tMaria was surprised to see everything done as she made her way back, impressed with how she had been able to follow Secco. –“You truly took me back some years ago when I took care of Kitty and Katty!” – She said, breathing in and out. She sat down on the shaded area, feeling the hot weather around them, but the shade improved their stay slightly.
\t–“Hey, nothing like being reminded you are alive, right?” – Secco commented, as the two of them chuckled together.
\tThe two of them had decided to spend some time relaxing under the umbrella, while enjoying their drinks. Secco even managed to fall on a quick rest of a few minutes, and then decided to go and swim at the sea, after feeling good enough. He invited Katswell, but she had decided to stay a while longer, enjoying being where she was for now.
\tSecco went to the sea water, which was moderately cool, towards warm. Nothing too bad, but definitely a constant temperature between the sea water and temperature outside. At least he wouldn’t feel cold after getting out of the water! –“Whoooooa!!! That’s what I call a proper dip in the water!” – He said, excitedly. There were a few swimmers around him, but he was able to do a proper exercise.
\tSecco’s focus on swimming at the sea was considerably different compared to swimming at the pool, for example. Not necessarily a focus to see how well he could swim or train his breathing, but rather enjoy the warm water and feel the waves bringing him back and forth, all the while keeping the balance. In case things got a tad too tedious, practising to see if he could keep balance and not fall underwater, all the while putting his body to work. –‘Yeah, that’s what I call fun!’ – he thought to himself.
\tAn hour and a half later, Maria Katswell had woken up from a nap, where she saw Secco sitting down at the sand, while talking to Reynard. –“Secco… what time is it, please?” – Katswell said, stretching herself and yawning.
\tSecco noticed she wanted his attention, and decided to reach for the clock. –“Hmmm, right now it is almost midday. Still some time to go before lunchtime, let alone the presentation. Your elderly friends decided to go, but Reynard and Genghe are still here, only resting after surfing for a while.” – He pointed at the two felines, who waved at her.
\t–“Oh that is nice, I just hoped not to fall asleep and miss time.” – Katswell said, drinking some of the hot water in the metal cup, making a yuck face.
\t–“Here, let me fetch fresh, cool water for you. I’ll tell you some of my antics once I get back.” – Secco said, going to fetch some cool water for her. Once he came back, he handed over the container to her, and took a sip.
\t–“What were you up to?” – Maria Katswell asked, raising an eyebrow and keeping her sunglasses on, just so her eyesight wouldn’t be weirded out by the strong sun rays at this time of day.
\t–“Well, Genghe had been hyping up the idea for me to go and take some surfing lessons with the two of them, so I decided to go with it.” – Secco said, calling for the two of them to join them. –“Apparently I did quite well, I think?” – Secco commented, unsure.
\t–“Yeah, I think it’s a fair assessment that you did well for a first timer.” – Genghe agreed, enjoying the shade.
\t–“But now that you agreed to take some lessons with us, I’m sure you’ll be doing much better in the days to come!” – Reynard added, having seen how much Secco tried to prove himself on the waves, even if he kept falling.
\t–“How long have you two been surfers for? For the looks of it, you both have been pretty big on sports for quite a while!” – Maria asked Reynard and Genghe.
\tGenghe blushed slightly, and Reynard smiled slightly. –“Well, Mrs. Katwell, we haven’t been really training for too long, you see. It’s just that we both were raised to play sports for a while. Genghe here focused on volleyball, soccer and some fist fighting, while I focused on soccer, basketball and surfing. All in all, it is something you get good at after a while.” – Reynard replied, happy for the praise from the older cat.
\t–“Ah, I see. It’s good, you both are keeping fit while doing something fun.” – Maria replied, offering a smile. –“It’s good to see you practising something too, Secco.” – She went on, making sure to praise them all equally.
\t–“Well, I always focused my routine more on fights and gym training, so I don’t see why I couldn’t go after something like that.” – Secco said, smiling.
\t–“Hope you’ll have some time to explain some of the moves you learned at brawling too!” – Genghe commented, looking forward to learning some good moves.
\t–“Of course! I think we can even try something later on. Right now I want to ask Katswell to go for a swim. Shall we?” – Secco asked, hoping she would accept.
\t–“Um… I don’t see why not. Will be a good idea to get hungry enough until it’s time for our meal!” – Maria replied, thinking this was a good idea.
\tThe four of them ended up going for a swim, with Reynard and Genghe staying relatively less time and focusing more on sunbathing. Katswell had been reminded of how good it was to swim at the sea compared to a pool, and how refreshing it was to receive the waves on someone’s body being closer to the shore.
\t–“Told you’d like it, Maria!” – Secco commented, offering Katswell a hearty grin and seeing her enjoy herself at the open sea.
\tIndeed, they swam for a while, until their bellies started to growl for food. It was almost 1 p.m., and they had decided to go for a quick shower and then eat lunch. Both Reynard and Genghe decided to stay a while more on the shores enjoying the sun, as the banquet hall would be open for at least two more hours. Secco and Maria ended up sitting down on a table of two and eating a pretty hefty meal that filled up their bellies, with the right to eat as they pleased. To make the best use of a good digestion, the companions went upstairs to nap for a while longer until it would be time to watch the presentation which would occur in the hall.
\tHalf an hour before the presentation, the group of seven had met with one another, and spent some time on the lounge directly to the right of the foyer. They all agreed to sit beside one another, just so they could watch the spectacle together, whilst speaking about a few things before they went there. Katswell with the elderly ladies and Secco with the young soccer players. A myriad of topics, some which included locations they wanted to visit and goals they’d like to achieve in life, anything that they were satisfied in concluding, and much more. All in all, Reynard and Genghe had great plans for their future, while Mabel, Hester and Georgia had been planning to live their lives as well as they possibly could.
\tA few minutes before the start of the show, the guests made their way towards the hall, sitting down and watching the presentation. Essentially, it was a mythological theatre detailing the folklore and myths pertaining to the islands, making sure to pass through all the eras that it existed. Since the first natives all the way to how the local population lived nowadays, mixing both dramatic and serious historical moments as well as good humour and funny historical events of the populations through the ages. Perhaps the most amusing had been the modern era, showing autocratic leaders arguing against one another and accusing each other of doing the same thing as they accused the opposition leaders.
\tThe show had gone on for quite a long time, even making sure to include a break so the guests could hydrate and or eat something. It even had some moments some guests from the crowd were called to fill in, especially in the more humorous moments in history. All in all, it had been a great experience that everyone enjoyed very much.
\tThe rest of the day was rather uneventful. There was a good dinner, and later on each guest made sure to head to their rooms so they could get a good night of sleep. Secco took a shower and waited for Maria’s turn, and decided to surprise her with a nude visit to her own shower, having been feeling frisky enough to play with her.
\t–“Secco? What?” – Maria asked, having been surprised.
\t–“I’ve been feeling like it’s been a while since the two of us had some fun, Maria. Of course, I hope you don’t mind it at all, but I’ve been wanting to have some fun.
