Thank you again for your interest!","writing":"The Feline and the Simian\n~I~\n\nJessica Huelington was ready for her planned trip to the convention. She had promised she would take Secco Clawmire, and she really looked forward to that - the leopard was a great friend to hers, and she wanted to show her appreciation to him. No matter how or what it would be, she would like to do that.\n\tThe two of them were fans of science fiction movies, comics and even novels - so she figured she would surprise him with a ticket that she had brought for the two of them. He gladly accepted (as she expected him to), and today was the big day. It was already middle to late autumn, and the day was needlessly cold already, she would make sure to wear something warm for the occasion. Good thing she was a simian accustomed to the cold climates as such! –“Brr, yes, I do think a coat, leggings, boots, warm pants and gloves is the least I should be wearing. Sure hope Secco won’t mind the two of us staying together to warm up!” – She said to herself, getting dressed up as she made a whole itinerary in her own mind of how the day would go. The plan was for her to meet up with him at his house, the two would go walking towards the civic centre, and there they would enjoy the day. Later on, go to a place to spend some time together, and finish off with probably some romantic evening/night. It was perfect and she sure hoped he would like it.\n\tThey were friends for so long, and she believed it was high time for the two of them to be friends with benefits - so she could have him experiment with her, and she could experiment with him. She had been going out with some guys from their gym training, and she figured it was time to give attention to Secco. Sure, they were friends much more than they were potential girlfriend and boyfriend, but the interest to expand horizons greatly interested Jessica. She did have appreciation to Gregor Berne and Wulf Havard for being candidates for a proper relationship, but Secco was someone who made her feel special and especially who made her laugh and have fun. Since she wasn’t in a hurry to decide who she wanted to date, she would make sure to see if Secco was willing to expand their friendship to have benefits, and then see if she would find someone to date. Much like how it was with him and Clarissa. –“These two are great together. I really do support the two of them. Hmmmm!” – She said to herself, and noticed how she looked in front of the mirror. Dressed to maim, for sure.\n\tFeeling satisfied with her looks, she picked up her lightweight purse with basic things, and decidedly made her way towards Secco’s home. The convention would be open soon enough, but there was no hurry to make their way so early!\n─\nSecco Clawmire felt at ease at the same time he felt an increasing curiosity on how things would go. He didn’t need to do much to impress Jess, much to the contrary - she seemed to be the one wanting to impress him. That made for a rather humorous occasion, but Secco welcomed it.\n\t–“That girl sure has some interesting ways to do things.” – Secco said to himself, as he did his finishing touches over his clothes. His fur had expanded with the cold, but he still felt comfortable enough by putting on more warm clothes just so he could be sure nothing would go wrong. While he did so, he considered the absurdity of it all - he and his good friend were going out for a date, and the only unusual thing was the fact that they were going out on a date by itself. They already were used to hanging out often, but nothing deeper than just two friends. –“I’m starting to think that she wants to expand our definition of friendship. I wouldn’t have a problem with that.” – He said to himself.\n\tAnd that was true - the two of them had some shared sexual innuendos between one another from time to time, but nothing ever too deep - it was more of a friendly relationship where both understood one another and gave the best support they could offer. But Secco wouldn’t mind having deeper get-togethers with the woman in question, Jessica was very lovely, and possessed a true charm he greatly admired. So he would welcome it and would even look forward to doing it more times. Once he was done adjusting himself over, he went to the living room and sat down on the couch, and began thinking about these last few months. The great visits with Mrs. Katswell, and how they had grown to be good friends, the stay with his girlfriend Clarissa, the gym friends he was making… Everything was going pretty darn well. Even his job, as draining as it was, had its positive moments he came to appreciate, especially the jokes, the pranks and the great moments talking to Jessica. And that was what made life worth living.\n\tAfter waiting for some minutes as he watched some television, he heard a knock on the door. He knew it was Jessica as soon as he answered it, and greeted her. –“Hey Jess. How’s it going?” – Secco asked, noticing the way she was dressed, and how good she looked - her combed hair with a hat, nice warm clothes…\n\t–“I’m doing good, Secco. Seems like you too are doing well! But… watching television?? Come on! You can do better than that.” – Jessica replied, teasing him. She handed over a chocolate bar to him, as her manner of greeting. –“These are the flowers I thought you’d like. Hope you like it!” – She said, with a warm smile.\n\tSecco chuckled and shook his head. Jessica always had a trick up her sleeve, and the latest one was a reverse flower gift of sorts. –“You’re always with a great surprise, aren’t you? Thank you.” – He thanked her, and placed it in a location where he would be sure to eat it later. –“I was just watching television while I waited for you. Shall we?” – Secco offered to hold his hands with her.\n\t–“I thought you’d never ask, handsome.” – Jessica replied, accepting his offer and holding her hands to his own, as he locked his door and they made their way towards the convention.\n─\n\t–“I’m so happy you’ve accepted my offer. You won’t regret going out on this date with me.” – Jessica stated, as they processed through the quiet streets of his neighbourhood, towards the more agitated part of the city.\n\t–“Gotta say - initially, this felt like the two of us hanging out during our work shift. But you’re right, this is even better. I’m really happy you thought about me when you purchased that ticket. I’m very excited to see what they are going to show at that exposition.” – Secco said, having already come to terms that what they were doing was indeed much better than a simple day of work. They had the full 24 hours just for the two of them, and they could do as they pleased.\n\t–“How could I ever forget you, my handsome feline?” – Jessica said in her usual flirty way, but without making any advances. She was happy he was happy, and that was what mattered.\n\t–“That was really special of you, my beautiful simian.” – Secco replied, giving a kiss over her cheek. They continued making their way towards the civic centre, and now were in a more busy part of the city. The wonderful autumn weather made things comfy and it sure was good to be beside someone, sharing warmth.\n\t–“I hope you don’t mind me being clingy, Sec. I’m cold today~” – Jessica whispered, chuckling afterwards. She was cold indeed, but she was looking for an excuse to tease the snow leopard.\n\t–“Don’t sweat it, Jess. I’m all about sharing and caring.” – Secco replied, feeling her warmth, but also transmitting some of it to her as well.\n\tFor the person observing them, they could be called a lovely couple on a date. But they were almost better than that: friends. Big friends. And with friends, things usually went out more smoothly, much more than what one could expect. This would almost be a definitive test to see if their idea of having an extended friendship would go out well, but the two of them knew that it was obvious this would work out.\n\tThey soon arrived at the convention centre, where the crowds were gathering and making volumes. There were some people dressed as thematic characters, large sized figurines, children meeting their heroes, adults congregating to show off their collections, and much more. Jessica told Secco to check out all those gathered at a specific entrance, and he saw that the people who would be responsible for the big show competition. This would be a great convention, to all of those who were able to attend.\n~II~\n\nThings were very, very upbeat and people were all over the place in the convention, as Secco and Jessica had noticed. The interior was decorated with posters, billboards and electronic displays announcing the itineraries of the convention, highlighting which parts and how things would go. Every cabin and places around had a thematic display and some form of pun related to both the name of the series and the convention in itself, which Secco thought was clever. Jessica appreciated and greatly approved the dedication in which the organisers and those attending displayed their affection for separate fandoms all around. While there were men who were dressed up in one manner or another to the costumes of the series, most of the cosplayers seemed to be women. Jessica didn’t find any interest in doing that, but she appreciated those who did, for their dedication. Another highlight of it all was the series and cartoons who still aired on streaming channels had gotten some teaser material, and Secco really liked the ones involving mecha suits and those involving superheroes. There were even some replicas for purchase to those who were over the age of 20.\n\t–“This is simply great. How the fuck did I miss this? I would have lost so much great stuff.” – Secco commented, after the two of them had just passed by a stand where they spoke to a few organisers and saw the great material they had built as tribute to the series - a group of warriors protecting the world from aliens and other invaders. That was on his top 10 favourite TV series, and he sure couldn’t have missed it.\n\t–“Because you got your amazing buddy here, who won’t leave you behind!” – Jessica interjected, voicing her pleasure at having helped him at something trivial at the same time as it meant a lot to him. She knew what Secco liked, much in the same vein that Secco knew the things she liked. All part of a great relationship.\n\t–“That’s true. You know the things that I like, and I can count on you.” – Secco replied, as they went around the stands, passing by an amusing one where there was a mix of loud music with animatronics, which most kids went by to play with them. –“What stand, or rather, what sort of stuff have you liked so far, Jess?” – He asked, prompting some questions in his mind.\n\t–“Hum! That’s a pretty damn good question. Let’s see…” – Jessica said, wrapping her arm around Secco as they walked close by one another. –“Well, the stands where they showed teasers of the upcoming new seasons are nice, they offer plenty of variety as well as the type of stuff you’ll find over at live previews. Another great one were the three stands that offered a VR interactibility over the worlds created by the series’ creators. It’s simply amazing the places where we could explore the places around the series - be it the heroes’ headquarters, their meeting place whenever they are not saving the world, the villains’ gathering room… a tour is just amazing and it adds depth to things. Since we still haven’t watched the presentation they will do later on, I would say these were my two favourite things I have seen so far from this expo. I mean, think about it - in the Warrior Cadets series, I always wanted to find out more how expansive their space base is - their mothership class V-87 Iis one of the most massive ships ever in the series. I waited my time to get in that booth, and I spent almost an hour trying to find everything out. It was all worth the time’s worth. But the largest ship is the Xeno-Cybership, so I took half an hour just to see everything inside. I guess I’m a completionist.” – She said, affably. At least there would be enough time so everyone could have a look at the amazing work they had done on the VR sets.\n\t–“Oh yeah, I noticed that you liked that. I even had to wait for other people to use the machine just so I could take a gander!” – Secco said, chuckling afterwards. He really didn’t mind that. –“Tho I gotta say, Jess - as much as the VR is top notch and greatly presented on the three stands we passed by, I think I would feel much more at ease if there was a proper room for that at a friend’s house, or at a room where I could enjoy that without having to worry about others in line which waited for me to leave the spot. Basically, have a better free range at what I can do whenever I want to - enjoy the virtual world at my own leisure. It’s hard to explain it in detail.” – He went on, musing about his own experience.\n\t–“Really, Sec? Why do you feel that?” – Jessica asked, looking him in the eyes, as they stopped by a corner to survey around the next booth.\n\t–“Well… I feel like it is more of a technicality than anything else in specific. But you know how there’s this thing about the vast dimension and basically infinite possibilities that virtual reality offers others? That’s something that needs to be reviewed in care, explore all the single nook and cranny which is offered and the expansiveness of the world. And viewing it in the booth at a presentation sure is nice, and offers a perspective on things, but I feel like the best experience is to view it from home. At the quiet of your living room or even at the bedroom. Kind of like sex. I know it’s a silly comparison, but it’s the best I have.” – Secco explained, looking her in the eyes at this less crowded part of the convention.\n\tThe two looking at each other made them feel some sort of awkward sensation, like they were looking deeply inside one another’s souls as they connected to a deeper sentiment, or something of the kind. This was felt by Jessica slightly more than Secco himself, mostly because there was something that seemed to connect them, even if they could not say what it was. This was almost silly to the n-th degree - the two were good friends and had absolutely no reason to be embarrassed by one another, but it was almost like that look in each others’ eyes made them feel some sort of connection to one another. It was hard to exemplify what it was, but there was something there.\n\t–“It feels like… sex, huh? That’s a way to describe it.” – Jessica commented, continuing to look at Secco’s eyes, much as he did to hers. It was as if suddenly, she could see things inside him that were kept secret to her beforehand, and she was able to explore who he was, even if they didn’t exchange a word to one another. It made her feel uncomfortable, but in an incredibly welcome way. Like she wanted to feel this discomfort. –“Well, that which we like is always good to do with someone whom we love, isn’t it?” – She asked, not wanting to stoke fires to the hearth, but unwittingly doing so.\n\t–“Yeah, I guess you are right, Jess. But hey, I’m thinking of buying a VR set to enjoy at home. That way I can invite you so we can try out the simulations that will be on sale in a few weeks.” – Secco said, breaking up with the tense, but incredibly spicy moment they were having. Now it was not the time, maybe in the privacy and at some later date.\n\tJessica nodded, and moved into a more comfortable subject, as the two of them got up and made their way to purchase some food. Secco had agreed, and they bought something for the two of them as they would resume the surveying around later.\n\t–“Sorry, I was just getting hungry.” – Jessica had said, after chewing a bite out of her sandwich. She felt somewhat strange after that small proximity back then. It was almost as if their brains had come in sync after so many months of being friends to one another and then some form of stimulation proposed the two of them to try and have something more in common than mere friendship. It was almost freaky.\n\t–“Yeah, I know what you mean, I was getting hungry too.” – Secco said, feeling the sense of normalcy coming back. –“There was something I liked a lot out of the exhibitions - the places that allowed you to get inside a real life version of the mechas outside. It’s incredible the sort of stuff these guys did, the sheer sense of dedication they have.” – He commented, bringing back a very neat subject.\n\t–“Oh! Yeah, that was freaking incredible. These replicas have got to have been worked on by some of the guys who work on the original series. The work they did on the Mega Katachi Activate!’s mechas in particular was impressive. Both on the main one, on the support and on the Squad Echo’s miniature suits. I guess if they worked further on the villains’ suits, they wouldn’t have had enough money to come here!” – Jessica said, showing her fangirl side and commenting on the realistic aspects of them.\n\t–“Do you think they brought suits from the show or they built them just for this exposition?” – Secco pondered, after having drunk some of his soda. –“Pretty sure it’s a model for the people to see for themselves, they must use miniatures in the television series much like many others from the same genre. Still, they deserve congratulations, that is for sure.” – He said, as they continued on with their meal.\n\tThe two of them then continued with their day around the exposition, and even met up with voice actors of an animated series about interstellar travel and battles. While most content offered by the exposition pertained to live-action and choreographed content, there was also a part dedicated for artists and animated show creators of this type of content that came to exhibit amazing storyboards, character profile drawings, wallpapers, mecha designs, automobiles and spaceships, weaponry from the animated series and much more. Secco got excited in particular to find the lead animator from the Banzai Fighters series, having come from so far away to represent his team and present his drawings to those flocking to the exposition. Secco commissioned him to draw two mechas, one for him and the other for Jessica, which made a great result - Jessica got very satisfied in particular with the final result.\n\t–“Damn, Sec - that’s so sweet of you. You know the type of lady I am, and the type of mecha I like!” – Jessica commented on the final result, appreciating the inclusion of the signature and everything. –“Thank you. You got a good taste on your own mecha too, very nice!” – She went on, and then surprised him with a kiss over his cheek.\n\tSecco chuckled pleasantly, and compared his own mecha to hers. –“Well, I know the type of weaponry and details you like on your clothes, and I figured it would make a nice contrast between mine and yours. Look here - I have seatbelts which are equipped to handle extra armoury, and a focus on comfort for mobility, while your mecha is designed with the idea of having deadly and swift weaponry and gadgets to use propriciating agility. I’m like the heavy hitter, and you are like the assassin class.” – He said, demonstrating the differences in approach.\n\t–“That’s a perfect teamwork idea. You are the front assault, I’m either the backup or I can be the one that gets the enemies from behind or from someplace else. Playing sneaky is my thing - you being a good fighter like that makes sense. Nice choice.” – Jessica replied, chuckling at the options offered.\n\tA few moments later, the announcer told those gathered that the competition for the costume show would start, highlighting those who managed to capture the best of each character from the respective series. –“Please, take your seats at the main hall. The competition shall begin in fifteen minutes.” – He said.\n\t–“We better get going. The main attraction is going to start!” – Jessica said, with curiosity over her voice. –“Sure hope we get to see amazing costumes as we did around.”.\n\t–“Oh you bet. They take these competitions seriously, Jess.” – Secco said, with certainty in his voice.\n─\n\tThe show was on, and for the looks of things, it would be the main attraction of the whole convention. The TV shows of choice were 6 in total, each team responsible for only one of them. There were four categories in total which had rankings - best costume, best acting, best visual effects, and best team. It was all part of one single act, with 6 competitors that had 10 minutes to show everything - being tasked with imitating the characters up to a T, having the best representation in the audio-visual department, and the best themed fight. Each team would get the first, second, third place or fourth place in each of the categories, with a lucky team being able to be first place in all four, if anything. Both Secco and Jessica watched it closely, paying attention to how the contestants represented the characters, and in luck, none would do a bad job representing them.\n\t–“What do you think so far, Jess?” – Secco whispered, as two contestants had finished doing their part, with the other four left. Each one of them had reserved some minutes to highlight the core concepts of the shows - teamship, fighting moves, the mechanics, and so forth. Secco had appreciated what the team responsible for Galactic Menace and Space Cadets had done, highlighting the visual effects and sounds and the choreography, respectively.\n\t–“I think it’s a great show so far! Haven’t even realised twenty minutes had passed. Honestly, this feels like a high tech teather with lights, action, and even sound effects. These guys are for real, Sec!” – Jessica whispered back, remembering Secco that the prizes wouldn’t be only trophies, but also monetary.\n\t–“Yeah, I remember. These guys are professionals - I wouldn’t be impressed if they spent at least six months or more dedicating themselves to this presentation. This isn’t your typical live action role play!” – Secco said, amused. But he was impressed.\n\tThe next contestants had come and gone, having each offered an aspect of their own taste. The presentation of Police Station Constables focused on the choreography but also an impressive display of light effects. Perhaps the unusual presentation that was done by the contestants that had picked Space Frontiers involved an almost interactive experience with their branching paths, which worked quite well. Just two more to go.\n\t–“Damn, I quite enjoyed the work done by these guys from Space Frontiers. Seems like I wasn’t the only one too!” – Secco commented, cheering for them much like the rest of the audience.\n\t–“That was kind of lame.” – Jessica disagreed, which put the two friends at a nice contrast. –“I mean, interactive, that’s cool. But it would have worked better if that was an interactive movie rather than a presentation. If this was a theatre, that would be even better. But at a convention? I don’t know…” – She said, not too keen over that.\n\t–“Really? You didn’t like it? I guess that’s a good point tho, Jess.” – Secco said, impressed. –“Perhaps agreeing to disagree is why I like you a lot.” – He commented, stealing from her a kiss.\n\tJessica blushed and said nothing, but she liked that. It was sweet of him to do that, and there was a method in the agreeing to disagreeing business.\n\tWith that, the last presentations were aired. Firmament Battles and Firmament Explorers were no doubt the absolute best of the presentations, and made sense for them to have been places last - Firmament Battles almost did like a tribute of not only the most action packed scenes, but also did like a love letter to the most touching and best surprises offered by the series, while Firmament Explorers was like a love letter to the whole series in itself - celebrating the best characters that have come and gone through the running years, as well as the best moments each character had shined through the ages. That had got a standing ovation from the older folk, who have had many experiences through the years, and had become certified fans of the story. Jessica Huelington was ready for her planned trip to the convention. She had promised she would take Secco Clawmire, and she really looked forward to that - the leopard was a great friend to hers, and she wanted to show her appreciation to him. No matter how or what it would be, she would like to do that.
\tThe two of them were fans of science fiction movies, comics and even novels - so she figured she would surprise him with a ticket that she had brought for the two of them. He gladly accepted (as she expected him to), and today was the big day. It was already middle to late autumn, and the day was needlessly cold already, she would make sure to wear something warm for the occasion. Good thing she was a simian accustomed to the cold climates as such! –“Brr, yes, I do think a coat, leggings, boots, warm pants and gloves is the least I should be wearing. Sure hope Secco won’t mind the two of us staying together to warm up!” – She said to herself, getting dressed up as she made a whole itinerary in her own mind of how the day would go. The plan was for her to meet up with him at his house, the two would go walking towards the civic centre, and there they would enjoy the day. Later on, go to a place to spend some time together, and finish off with probably some romantic evening/night. It was perfect and she sure hoped he would like it.
\tThey were friends for so long, and she believed it was high time for the two of them to be friends with benefits - so she could have him experiment with her, and she could experiment with him. She had been going out with some guys from their gym training, and she figured it was time to give attention to Secco. Sure, they were friends much more than they were potential girlfriend and boyfriend, but the interest to expand horizons greatly interested Jessica. She did have appreciation to Gregor Berne and Wulf Havard for being candidates for a proper relationship, but Secco was someone who made her feel special and especially who made her laugh and have fun. Since she wasn’t in a hurry to decide who she wanted to date, she would make sure to see if Secco was willing to expand their friendship to have benefits, and then see if she would find someone to date. Much like how it was with him and Clarissa. –“These two are great together. I really do support the two of them. Hmmmm!” – She said to herself, and noticed how she looked in front of the mirror. Dressed to maim, for sure.
\tFeeling satisfied with her looks, she picked up her lightweight purse with basic things, and decidedly made her way towards Secco’s home. The convention would be open soon enough, but there was no hurry to make their way so early!

Secco Clawmire felt at ease at the same time he felt an increasing curiosity on how things would go. He didn’t need to do much to impress Jess, much to the contrary - she seemed to be the one wanting to impress him. That made for a rather humorous occasion, but Secco welcomed it.
\t–“That girl sure has some interesting ways to do things.” – Secco said to himself, as he did his finishing touches over his clothes. His fur had expanded with the cold, but he still felt comfortable enough by putting on more warm clothes just so he could be sure nothing would go wrong. While he did so, he considered the absurdity of it all - he and his good friend were going out for a date, and the only unusual thing was the fact that they were going out on a date by itself. They already were used to hanging out often, but nothing deeper than just two friends. –“I’m starting to think that she wants to expand our definition of friendship. I wouldn’t have a problem with that.” – He said to himself.
\tAnd that was true - the two of them had some shared sexual innuendos between one another from time to time, but nothing ever too deep - it was more of a friendly relationship where both understood one another and gave the best support they could offer. But Secco wouldn’t mind having deeper get-togethers with the woman in question, Jessica was very lovely, and possessed a true charm he greatly admired. So he would welcome it and would even look forward to doing it more times. Once he was done adjusting himself over, he went to the living room and sat down on the couch, and began thinking about these last few months. The great visits with Mrs. Katswell, and how they had grown to be good friends, the stay with his girlfriend Clarissa, the gym friends he was making… Everything was going pretty darn well. Even his job, as draining as it was, had its positive moments he came to appreciate, especially the jokes, the pranks and the great moments talking to Jessica. And that was what made life worth living.
\tAfter waiting for some minutes as he watched some television, he heard a knock on the door. He knew it was Jessica as soon as he answered it, and greeted her. –“Hey Jess. How’s it going?” – Secco asked, noticing the way she was dressed, and how good she looked - her combed hair with a hat, nice warm clothes…
\t–“I’m doing good, Secco. Seems like you too are doing well! But… watching television?? Come on! You can do better than that.” – Jessica replied, teasing him. She handed over a chocolate bar to him, as her manner of greeting. –“These are the flowers I thought you’d like. Hope you like it!” – She said, with a warm smile.
\tSecco chuckled and shook his head. Jessica always had a trick up her sleeve, and the latest one was a reverse flower gift of sorts. –“You’re always with a great surprise, aren’t you? Thank you.” – He thanked her, and placed it in a location where he would be sure to eat it later. –“I was just watching television while I waited for you. Shall we?” – Secco offered to hold his hands with her.
\t–“I thought you’d never ask, handsome.” – Jessica replied, accepting his offer and holding her hands to his own, as he locked his door and they made their way towards the convention.

\t–“I’m so happy you’ve accepted my offer. You won’t regret going out on this date with me.” – Jessica stated, as they processed through the quiet streets of his neighbourhood, towards the more agitated part of the city.
\t–“Gotta say - initially, this felt like the two of us hanging out during our work shift. But you’re right, this is even better. I’m really happy you thought about me when you purchased that ticket. I’m very excited to see what they are going to show at that exposition.” – Secco said, having already come to terms that what they were doing was indeed much better than a simple day of work. They had the full 24 hours just for the two of them, and they could do as they pleased.
\t–“How could I ever forget you, my handsome feline?” – Jessica said in her usual flirty way, but without making any advances. She was happy he was happy, and that was what mattered.
\t–“That was really special of you, my beautiful simian.” – Secco replied, giving a kiss over her cheek. They continued making their way towards the civic centre, and now were in a more busy part of the city. The wonderful autumn weather made things comfy and it sure was good to be beside someone, sharing warmth.
\t–“I hope you don’t mind me being clingy, Sec. I’m cold today~” – Jessica whispered, chuckling afterwards. She was cold indeed, but she was looking for an excuse to tease the snow leopard.
\t–“Don’t sweat it, Jess. I’m all about sharing and caring.” – Secco replied, feeling her warmth, but also transmitting some of it to her as well.
\tFor the person observing them, they could be called a lovely couple on a date. But they were almost better than that: friends. Big friends. And with friends, things usually went out more smoothly, much more than what one could expect. This would almost be a definitive test to see if their idea of having an extended friendship would go out well, but the two of them knew that it was obvious this would work out.
\tThey soon arrived at the convention centre, where the crowds were gathering and making volumes. There were some people dressed as thematic characters, large sized figurines, children meeting their heroes, adults congregating to show off their collections, and much more. Jessica told Secco to check out all those gathered at a specific entrance, and he saw that the people who would be responsible for the big show competition. This would be a great convention, to all of those who were able to attend.

Things were very, very upbeat and people were all over the place in the convention, as Secco and Jessica had noticed. The interior was decorated with posters, billboards and electronic displays announcing the itineraries of the convention, highlighting which parts and how things would go. Every cabin and places around had a thematic display and some form of pun related to both the name of the series and the convention in itself, which Secco thought was clever. Jessica appreciated and greatly approved the dedication in which the organisers and those attending displayed their affection for separate fandoms all around. While there were men who were dressed up in one manner or another to the costumes of the series, most of the cosplayers seemed to be women. Jessica didn’t find any interest in doing that, but she appreciated those who did, for their dedication. Another highlight of it all was the series and cartoons who still aired on streaming channels had gotten some teaser material, and Secco really liked the ones involving mecha suits and those involving superheroes. There were even some replicas for purchase to those who were over the age of 20.
\t–“This is simply great. How the fuck did I miss this? I would have lost so much great stuff.” – Secco commented, after the two of them had just passed by a stand where they spoke to a few organisers and saw the great material they had built as tribute to the series - a group of warriors protecting the world from aliens and other invaders. That was on his top 10 favourite TV series, and he sure couldn’t have missed it.
\t–“Because you got your amazing buddy here, who won’t leave you behind!” – Jessica interjected, voicing her pleasure at having helped him at something trivial at the same time as it meant a lot to him. She knew what Secco liked, much in the same vein that Secco knew the things she liked. All part of a great relationship.
\t–“That’s true. You know the things that I like, and I can count on you.” – Secco replied, as they went around the stands, passing by an amusing one where there was a mix of loud music with animatronics, which most kids went by to play with them. –“What stand, or rather, what sort of stuff have you liked so far, Jess?” – He asked, prompting some questions in his mind.
\t–“Hum! That’s a pretty damn good question. Let’s see…” – Jessica said, wrapping her arm around Secco as they walked close by one another. –“Well, the stands where they showed teasers of the upcoming new seasons are nice, they offer plenty of variety as well as the type of stuff you’ll find over at live previews. Another great one were the three stands that offered a VR interactibility over the worlds created by the series’ creators. It’s simply amazing the places where we could explore the places around the series - be it the heroes’ headquarters, their meeting place whenever they are not saving the world, the villains’ gathering room… a tour is just amazing and it adds depth to things. Since we still haven’t watched the presentation they will do later on, I would say these were my two favourite things I have seen so far from this expo. I mean, think about it - in the Warrior Cadets series, I always wanted to find out more how expansive their space base is - their mothership class V-87 Iis one of the most massive ships ever in the series. I waited my time to get in that booth, and I spent almost an hour trying to find everything out. It was all worth the time’s worth. But the largest ship is the Xeno-Cybership, so I took half an hour just to see everything inside. I guess I’m a completionist.” – She said, affably. At least there would be enough time so everyone could have a look at the amazing work they had done on the VR sets.
\t–“Oh yeah, I noticed that you liked that. I even had to wait for other people to use the machine just so I could take a gander!” – Secco said, chuckling afterwards. He really didn’t mind that. –“Tho I gotta say, Jess - as much as the VR is top notch and greatly presented on the three stands we passed by, I think I would feel much more at ease if there was a proper room for that at a friend’s house, or at a room where I could enjoy that without having to worry about others in line which waited for me to leave the spot. Basically, have a better free range at what I can do whenever I want to - enjoy the virtual world at my own leisure. It’s hard to explain it in detail.” – He went on, musing about his own experience.
\t–“Really, Sec? Why do you feel that?” – Jessica asked, looking him in the eyes, as they stopped by a corner to survey around the next booth.
\t–“Well… I feel like it is more of a technicality than anything else in specific. But you know how there’s this thing about the vast dimension and basically infinite possibilities that virtual reality offers others? That’s something that needs to be reviewed in care, explore all the single nook and cranny which is offered and the expansiveness of the world. And viewing it in the booth at a presentation sure is nice, and offers a perspective on things, but I feel like the best experience is to view it from home. At the quiet of your living room or even at the bedroom. Kind of like sex. I know it’s a silly comparison, but it’s the best I have.” – Secco explained, looking her in the eyes at this less crowded part of the convention.
\tThe two looking at each other made them feel some sort of awkward sensation, like they were looking deeply inside one another’s souls as they connected to a deeper sentiment, or something of the kind. This was felt by Jessica slightly more than Secco himself, mostly because there was something that seemed to connect them, even if they could not say what it was. This was almost silly to the n-th degree - the two were good friends and had absolutely no reason to be embarrassed by one another, but it was almost like that look in each others’ eyes made them feel some sort of connection to one another. It was hard to exemplify what it was, but there was something there.
\t–“It feels like… sex, huh? That’s a way to describe it.” – Jessica commented, continuing to look at Secco’s eyes, much as he did to hers. It was as if suddenly, she could see things inside him that were kept secret to her beforehand, and she was able to explore who he was, even if they didn’t exchange a word to one another. It made her feel uncomfortable, but in an incredibly welcome way. Like she wanted to feel this discomfort. –“Well, that which we like is always good to do with someone whom we love, isn’t it?” – She asked, not wanting to stoke fires to the hearth, but unwittingly doing so.
\t–“Yeah, I guess you are right, Jess. But hey, I’m thinking of buying a VR set to enjoy at home. That way I can invite you so we can try out the simulations that will be on sale in a few weeks.” – Secco said, breaking up with the tense, but incredibly spicy moment they were having. Now it was not the time, maybe in the privacy and at some later date.
\tJessica nodded, and moved into a more comfortable subject, as the two of them got up and made their way to purchase some food. Secco had agreed, and they bought something for the two of them as they would resume the surveying around later.
\t–“Sorry, I was just getting hungry.” – Jessica had said, after chewing a bite out of her sandwich. She felt somewhat strange after that small proximity back then. It was almost as if their brains had come in sync after so many months of being friends to one another and then some form of stimulation proposed the two of them to try and have something more in common than mere friendship. It was almost freaky.
\t–“Yeah, I know what you mean, I was getting hungry too.” – Secco said, feeling the sense of normalcy coming back. –“There was something I liked a lot out of the exhibitions - the places that allowed you to get inside a real life version of the mechas outside. It’s incredible the sort of stuff these guys did, the sheer sense of dedication they have.” – He commented, bringing back a very neat subject.
\t–“Oh! Yeah, that was freaking incredible. These replicas have got to have been worked on by some of the guys who work on the original series. The work they did on the Mega Katachi Activate!’s mechas in particular was impressive. Both on the main one, on the support and on the Squad Echo’s miniature suits. I guess if they worked further on the villains’ suits, they wouldn’t have had enough money to come here!” – Jessica said, showing her fangirl side and commenting on the realistic aspects of them.
\t–“Do you think they brought suits from the show or they built them just for this exposition?” – Secco pondered, after having drunk some of his soda. –“Pretty sure it’s a model for the people to see for themselves, they must use miniatures in the television series much like many others from the same genre. Still, they deserve congratulations, that is for sure.” – He said, as they continued on with their meal.
\tThe two of them then continued with their day around the exposition, and even met up with voice actors of an animated series about interstellar travel and battles. While most content offered by the exposition pertained to live-action and choreographed content, there was also a part dedicated for artists and animated show creators of this type of content that came to exhibit amazing storyboards, character profile drawings, wallpapers, mecha designs, automobiles and spaceships, weaponry from the animated series and much more. Secco got excited in particular to find the lead animator from the Banzai Fighters series, having come from so far away to represent his team and present his drawings to those flocking to the exposition. Secco commissioned him to draw two mechas, one for him and the other for Jessica, which made a great result - Jessica got very satisfied in particular with the final result.
\t–“Damn, Sec - that’s so sweet of you. You know the type of lady I am, and the type of mecha I like!” – Jessica commented on the final result, appreciating the inclusion of the signature and everything. –“Thank you. You got a good taste on your own mecha too, very nice!” – She went on, and then surprised him with a kiss over his cheek.
\tSecco chuckled pleasantly, and compared his own mecha to hers. –“Well, I know the type of weaponry and details you like on your clothes, and I figured it would make a nice contrast between mine and yours. Look here - I have seatbelts which are equipped to handle extra armoury, and a focus on comfort for mobility, while your mecha is designed with the idea of having deadly and swift weaponry and gadgets to use propriciating agility. I’m like the heavy hitter, and you are like the assassin class.” – He said, demonstrating the differences in approach.
\t–“That’s a perfect teamwork idea. You are the front assault, I’m either the backup or I can be the one that gets the enemies from behind or from someplace else. Playing sneaky is my thing - you being a good fighter like that makes sense. Nice choice.” – Jessica replied, chuckling at the options offered.
\tA few moments later, the announcer told those gathered that the competition for the costume show would start, highlighting those who managed to capture the best of each character from the respective series. –“Please, take your seats at the main hall. The competition shall begin in fifteen minutes.” – He said.
\t–“We better get going. The main attraction is going to start!” – Jessica said, with curiosity over her voice. –“Sure hope we get to see amazing costumes as we did around.”.
\t–“Oh you bet. They take these competitions seriously, Jess.” – Secco said, with certainty in his voice.

\tThe show was on, and for the looks of things, it would be the main attraction of the whole convention. The TV shows of choice were 6 in total, each team responsible for only one of them. There were four categories in total which had rankings - best costume, best acting, best visual effects, and best team. It was all part of one single act, with 6 competitors that had 10 minutes to show everything - being tasked with imitating the characters up to a T, having the best representation in the audio-visual department, and the best themed fight. Each team would get the first, second, third place or fourth place in each of the categories, with a lucky team being able to be first place in all four, if anything. Both Secco and Jessica watched it closely, paying attention to how the contestants represented the characters, and in luck, none would do a bad job representing them.
\t–“What do you think so far, Jess?” – Secco whispered, as two contestants had finished doing their part, with the other four left. Each one of them had reserved some minutes to highlight the core concepts of the shows - teamship, fighting moves, the mechanics, and so forth. Secco had appreciated what the team responsible for Galactic Menace and Space Cadets had done, highlighting the visual effects and sounds and the choreography, respectively.
\t–“I think it’s a great show so far! Haven’t even realised twenty minutes had passed. Honestly, this feels like a high tech teather with lights, action, and even sound effects. These guys are for real, Sec!” – Jessica whispered back, remembering Secco that the prizes wouldn’t be only trophies, but also monetary.
\t–“Yeah, I remember. These guys are professionals - I wouldn’t be impressed if they spent at least six months or more dedicating themselves to this presentation. This isn’t your typical live action role play!” – Secco said, amused. But he was impressed.
\tThe next contestants had come and gone, having each offered an aspect of their own taste. The presentation of Police Station Constables focused on the choreography but also an impressive display of light effects. Perhaps the unusual presentation that was done by the contestants that had picked Space Frontiers involved an almost interactive experience with their branching paths, which worked quite well. Just two more to go.
\t–“Damn, I quite enjoyed the work done by these guys from Space Frontiers. Seems like I wasn’t the only one too!” – Secco commented, cheering for them much like the rest of the audience.
\t–“That was kind of lame.” – Jessica disagreed, which put the two friends at a nice contrast. –“I mean, interactive, that’s cool. But it would have worked better if that was an interactive movie rather than a presentation. If this was a theatre, that would be even better. But at a convention? I don’t know…” – She said, not too keen over that.
\t–“Really? You didn’t like it? I guess that’s a good point tho, Jess.” – Secco said, impressed. –“Perhaps agreeing to disagree is why I like you a lot.” – He commented, stealing from her a kiss.
\tJessica blushed and said nothing, but she liked that. It was sweet of him to do that, and there was a method in the agreeing to disagreeing business.
\tWith that, the last presentations were aired. Firmament Battles and Firmament Explorers were no doubt the absolute best of the presentations, and made sense for them to have been places last - Firmament Battles almost did like a tribute of not only the most action packed scenes, but also did like a love letter to the most touching and best surprises offered by the series, while Firmament Explorers was like a love letter to the whole series in itself - celebrating the best characters that have come and gone through the running years, as well as the best moments each character had shined through the ages. That had got a standing ovation from the older folk, who have had many experiences through the years, and had become certified fans of the story. Secco and Jessica both agreed that it had been amazing.
\tThe last series got first place in acting and team, but third and fourth place in acting and visual effects. Galactic Menace and Police Station Constables had great audio visual effects, while Space Cadets and Space Frontiers impressed the public with the costumes. All in all, it was a fair rating, and even the teams voiced their happiness with their ratings, and everyone seemed to be glad altogether.
\tSecco and Jessica spent a few more minutes there, and then decided to leave the convention. It would go on for a few more hours, but by the time they had left, the sun was already setting. A whole whopping six hours were spent there!
\t–“How was it, Sec? Did you like to visit the sci-fi expo?” – Jessica asked, as they made their way towards her apartment. The streets were already cold with the encroaching wisps of the winter. She wrapped her arm tightly around Secco’s as they walked.
\t–“You bet, Jess! Thank you so much. That presentation was just awesome, and everything they exhibited was very nice indeed. Honestly, I don’t think I even have a favourite thing, from how good it was.” – Secco replied, enjoying how clingy his monkey friend was towards him. His fur coat still smelled great from the lotion he used all through his body, so he could understand why Jessica wanted to be so close to him.
\t–“I’m always the friend you need during a rescue. You should know that by now, Sec.” – Jessica replied in a humorous way as they made their way through the streets.
\t–“Hey, I know that. It’s just you that wants to prove yourself to me so much that you should be the one to know I got that down pat!” – Secco replied, all in good humour towards his good friend.
\tAt a cross sign they stopped and looked at each other, just at the moment the lamplights through the city turned on, and noticing the clear connection they both had with one another. They kept staring at each other for a while, enjoying the glow and the proximity the two of them had together, and only once the clicking of the cross sign began that they noticed it was time to go.
\t–“We almost lost there, whew. I guess we better get to your home, right?” – Secco said, trying to break the silence. He really wanted to express how he felt to Jessica, but not here on the streets.
\t–“Yeah, that was kind of a clumsy thing. I guess we got a bit doozy from being so long at the convention. I got something in mind for the two of us to drink that I’m sure will work great as a pick me up!” – Jessica said, as they continued to navigate through the streets, just a few blocks away from her apartment.
\t–“I like that. You know I trust you, Jess.” – Secco accepted, squeezing her gloved hand.
\t–“And this is why I want to show it to you, Sec~” – Jessica replied, squeezing back.

The two had arrived at Jessica’s cosy and somewhat expansive apartment, where Secco was used to coming by so many times. It was a modern/futuristic looking apartment, in a very new and expensive building in the best part of the city, and with all the modern appliances and luxurious things anyone could think of. That suited Jessica a lot, mostly because she had ways to keep herself in luxury and knew how to make someone comfortable.
\tShe put on a sensual lounge music, and prepared an incredibly hot chocolate with delicious slices of cake to each of them, which had a great effect after having eaten a standard-to-good meal from the expo.
\t–“Humnn, delicious!” – Secco replied, as he ate it with desire. He took great care to not burn himself or stain any part of his clothes as they ate, sitting neatly one beside the other. –“You’re amazing, Jess, you know that?” – He added, after gulping down.
\t–“That’s so sweet of you. But I think you are more amazing to me, Sec. You’re such a wonderful friend, I really don’t know if I could get someone as special as you are for me.” – Jessica replied, taking a sip of her chocolate afterwards. She had said these words in such an earnest way that Secco got caught by surprise.
\t–“Well, I just do it because you are a woman of many great ideas, a definitive personality, and someone who’s always willing to have fun and enjoy herself, no matter the situation. And I like that. I like women like you, and… I wouldn’t mind having someone like you in my life. Even if it is just friends.” – Secco said, finishing his meal.
\tJessica had finished her meal and drink a few moments after Secco, and the two interlocked their eyesights looking deeply inside one another. That happened for the third time already, and this time - this was it. There was no escaping it, whatsoever. The two of them then shared a romantic kiss, one that lasted at least ten minutes.
