"description": "Aura is sometimes described as a sort of life energy, so I figured it ought to be used that way.\n\nWell, I guess the brief streak of (two) highly satisfactory sketches had to be broken at some point, but I'll keep posting these both as a sign of life and as an act of transparency about the process of artistic improvement. Things usually turn out pretty poorly while you're figuring them out, especially if you apply constraints like time limits (this was supposed to be an hour, but I took about 70 minutes in reality).\n\nLucarios give me trouble to this day, which is a big reason I haven't drawn Jay much at all, but I do want to change that. I like them a lot to begin with, and want to take advantage of the unique scenarios that Jay can fit into, this being one of them. Something like accelerating (or maybe magnifying) pregnancy with his abilities. Works around him not being allowed to reproduce by contributing to someone else's reproduction.\n\nIt's mostly the proportions giving me difficulty. I'm not entirely sure why his arm turned out so badly (it's obvious enough that I would've fixed it if I had more time), but the torso and abnormally wide hips are still something I'm not used to, especially when they're curved like this. As silly as it might sound, the think that I think I've gotten the most used to is the ears, which have a very particular shape, but I managed to recreate them here relatively quickly in spite of past attempts taking an embarrassing amount of time. I did have some unexpected difficulty with the neck region, too, both with and without the collar. All my obsessing over lucarios has apparently paid off to where I was able to draw this without any references, though, with the only obvious mistake I see being having forgotten the tail in my rush. There's also this weird thing where I have a hard time feeling satisfied with the paws in spite of how simple they are. It's like trying to make three spheres look as expressive as a hand (though perhaps I shouldn't be modelling them as spheres at all).\n\nI'll just have to get used to him like I have everyone else, I guess. The digitigrade legs have been a challenge in particular, and I skimped out on getting practice with them here.",
