"description": "Conventional wisdom is that you learn to draw \"right\" first, and then speed comes later. Well, I've been doing this for years now, and I'm still slow as hell, so I guess I'll take a more active approach. This is me trying to draw a bunch of things quickly.\n\nYeah, more sidetracking myself from getting sidetracked. There's this kind of recursion going on right now where I took a break from a sequence to practise something that I needed to work on before continuing, and then I took a break from that to practise other things that I need to get a foundation in first. I've kind of pulled out the rug from under myself trying to make it possible to spend less than ten hours on a piece, and then switching from sketching on paper to sketching on a digital canvas after having thought that I had settled into the former. Well, now I need to settle into the latter (which I do in earnest think is the answer for the time being), but it means literally relearning how to draw things. That's what all these sketches were (and I need to do much more, but I'll try to work on actual content in the meantime).\n\nMost of these took twenty for forty minutes, usually with me timing myself and saving snapshots at certain intervals (the anthro progressions on the top and bottom are in something like ten minute intervals, I think). The sketch of Vi and the sylveon fucking on the right actually took a whole hour per character, both because I was way less focused (I got tired of rushing everything), and because I tried to hold it to a higher standard, although there are still some proportion issues. That's all massive improvements over taking a few hours on the sketches I've done until now, at least. I drew these all separately and then put them all together, which shows in the massive range of sizes (I also downscaled this because it was something like ten thousand pixels wide originally). The most egregious was actually the rear shot of Vi in the bottom left, though I upscaled it to match the sylveon. These also aren't arranged in any particular order, which is part of why the quality might seem all over the place.\n\nIn case anyone's curious about the content of some of these: the top left is the first time I tried sketching something digitally (which is actually using a touch screen stylus on a trackpad), with some modifications to make it look convincingly like a scan of a piece of paper. The anthro on the lower left is supposed to be a snake, where I didn't bother drawing breasts for the sake of time (it's a reptile, anyways, not that that usually stops me). The bottom right is based off of some kind of termite I came across that literally gets fucked full of (live) offspring until it bursts, which seemed to merit some acknowledgement.\n\n\nThere's definitely still work to be done, though. My ability to draw things consistently is still lacking, even after drawing Vi and the sylveon a bunch of times (that being in preparation for resuming work on the ongoing sequence). For whatever reason, I also have a tendency with Vella to draw her hips and shoulders at two different angles, making her shoulders look misaligned when they're actually supposed to be completely straight, but none of the other anthros had that issue. Writing dialogue this way takes an embarrassing amount of time (something like ten or fifteen minutes for that sentence on the lower left?), so I'm toying with the idea of saving a bunch of pre-written letters to use as a way of saving time. Filling things in also takes forever, so I spent a literal hour just filling in a big square that I'll use in later works for things like Vi's fur.\n\nI'd like to think that things will return to normal, or rather better, some day, with all the frequent finished pieces and maybe a bunch of sketches inbetween to make it obvious I'm still working on things. Even once I have these sketches figured out, though, there are still things I'm not really sure how to tackle. It feels like I'm learning everything from scratch again.",
