In a discovery that's actually kind of detrimental to the premise of this sequence (that being trying out a long-form sequence in traditional media), I realized that a stylus and trackpad make a workable replacement for a tablet. There were certain reservations I always had with producing physical media, so I jumped at it as soon as I realized it was possible. I expect I'll keep things this way for any sketches now, since it does look better (even if I actually put in some effort to make it look like an imperfect scan) and it's much more straightforward to work in one medium than two or even three (if you count raster and vector art separately; still thinking about whether to reconsider doing lineart in vector format). This had the unfortunate side effect of this piece being part of my process of getting used to the new input method, and combining that with already being painfully slow to produce anything at all and missing a few nights of work, resulting in this simple sketch taking something like two weeks to complete. I know for certain, though, that I can make sketches at a pace that could be called \"fast\" by some measures, and I'll do a little more experimenting with that before pushing his series further.\n\nOf course, that means taking a break from a sequence to figure out a new medium that I'm doing as a break from another sequence to figure out a new medium.
