"description": "When our skunk girl here got herself knocked up, it was hard not to notice how many onlookers had begun to take interest in her changing body. Taking advantage of that to make some extra cash on the side seemed like a good idea at the time, but the bigger she got, the bigger the crowds grew in turn, and her manager's not about to lose their biggest source of income, even if her due date was last month.\n\nGuess she'll just have to hold them in a bit longer. Even if some patrons are hoping excitedly that she won't be able.\n__________________________________________________________________________________\n\nAfter all this time, I finally get around to playing around with coloured light for real. I made some more subtle attempts years ago, but they didn't really produce good results and weren't even really noticeable anyways. I'm also fairly fond of strippers as a subject matter, so it seemed like a perfect combination.\n\nRather than just throwing colour on top of everything, I got real into layer masks and blend modes (just like I've been doing with shading lately, for that matter). My current method of soft shading involves duplicating the colour layers, merging them together, and turning them greyscale to act as an \"intensity\" layer that the original colours (now using the colour blend mode) sit on top of. Altering the brightness of the intensity layer is how I make the colours lighter or darker. I keep a copy of the initial state of that layer and later use the difference of that and the final intensity layer (via the subtract blend mode) as the layer mask for a coloured overlay layer that produces the tinting for the light. The end result is that there's more colour where the light is stronger and less where it's weaker.\n\nAll that stuff going on is why drawing goes a lot more slowly than it used to, by the way. Moreso the soft shading than the blend modes and masking, but the latter don't help, either. This one, being as simple as it is, \"only\" took just over twelve hours, which I think is the fastest I've done anything in a long while. Nowadays it's usually closer to twenty, but I remember the old days where a solo image with a fairly simple background would only take about eight hours.
