Once sentenced to serve their time, prisoners are put under anesthesia via injection and transported to the prison. As they are processed into the system, they are stripped of all clothing and laid out on a metal slab with a mask covering their mouth and eyes. A pair of automated arms with sprayers scan the prisoner and begin applying a dye from head to toe, with prison staff adjusting the body so the sprayers can cover the entire body. Their dyed fur serves as their uniform; a practice that strips them of their dignity, makes it nearly impossible to hide if they escape, but most importantly, it saves money by eliminating the need to issue uniforms and provide laundry facilities for them. The prisoners are injected with a drug to reverse the anesthesia, waking up from their sleep and escorted to a room with several chairs in front of a large screen to view a short orientation video on their new life as a prisoner. The video opens with discussing their dyed fur, mentioning early on that it is semi-permanent and will be removed when/if they are released, showing a prisoner soaking in a bath that is actively dissolving the dye off his fur. His body went still immediately, swinging for a few seconds before convulsing with his facial expression unchanged.
