follow-up to the previous post based on a couple of random sketches from last year. I’m very proud of this pic and hope you enjoy it and the details that follow:\n\nViolent and notorious criminals are handled very different from nobles and common folk. Upon capture, knights and guards waste no time notifying the public of their achievement and preparations begin for the execution the following day. It's become a common practice for businesses to open late when such executions take place.\n\nA small gang of bandits targeted travelers heading in and out of the kingdom, operating out of the single road heading east that cuts through a thick forest. Unlike most bandit s, this gang was known for being excessively violent, killing many of their victims. Survivors identified the leader as a honey badger with a short fuse that will choose who dies based on trivial reasoning such as not liking someone's face or the sound of their voice. The rest of his crew were no better, torturing and violating their victims, often killing them in the process.\n\nLate one afternoon, a dozen soldiers squeezed into a covered wagon disguised as a merchant made its way down the road, planning to lure the bandits by having a single occupant in plain clothes driving the cart. The trap was an immediate success as the wagon was stopped early on its trip by the honey badger and his gang. As he orders the driver to step down, the soldiers burst out of the back to face the eight bandits standing in front of them. Despite being outnumbered by armored and experienced soldiers, the bandits attacked as they were told to put their weapons down. Two of the bandits were cut down in an instant while the rest of them were falling one by one as the soldiers were pushing them back on the road with ease. A reptilian bandit with a spear managed to keep the soldiers from advancing as he swung it wildly while backing up. Stumbling over a rock, a soldier grabbed the spear and pulled it off his hands as two others pounced on top of him, subduing him as the rest of the soldiers closed in on the remaining bandits. Holding their weapons firmly, the honey badger stood next to a wolf that took a couple steps forward toward the soldiers. “You’re heavily outnumbered and out-skilled. Drop your weapons and surrender!” yelled one of the soldiers. A few seconds of silence passed, and the wolf broke his stance, lowering his sword to his side. “COWARD!” shouted the badger as his blade pierced through the wolf’s back and out of his chest, letting out short gasp as he looked down at his boss's blade sticking out of his body. Falling over, the badger attempted to pull his sword out but failed to do so as the wolf's body hit the dirt with the sword stuck in him. Reaching into his belt to draw a dagger, the badger's vision went black as one of the soldiers threw his helmet at him, striking him on the forehead. The dazed badger stood no chance against the soldiers as they knocked him down and was subdued in seconds, joining the reptile on the cart bound and gagged.\n\nThe pair remained bound overnight, lying on hard ground surrounded by guards until morning arrived and they were taken before the king to have their expected death sentences formally given. A goat in a simple eye mask presented himself to the convicts as the head executioner, with 4 hooded assistants standing behind him. His assistants and some of the guards removed their binds and forcefully stripped the pair out of their clothes. The badger initially resisted but after a flurry of blows to the stomach and back, he became compliant and stood still in the nude as his wrists were secured behind his back.\n\nStepping outside, both bandits froze momentarily as they faced a large crowd waiting outside. The executioner addressed the successful capture of the gang's leader and one of his members with the rest killed in the process to praise and cheers from the crowd. The pair were walked over to a small firepit with several pokers in the flames and a wooden stump near it. The goat called his assistants to take the reptile to the stump and sat him down with his back towards the crowd. All four assistants held on to the reptile as he looked around in confusion before letting out a roar of pain. The goat began to cut his tail off with a dagger, starting with a stab directly from the top of it and sawing downward. The assistants struggled to keep him in place as he screamed and tried to break free and after a solid minute, the crowd cheered again as the tail was removed and tossed into the fire. He grabbed one of the pokers, looking close at the glowing red tip briefly before rubbing it against the bleeding wound of the reptile leading to another wave of screaming from the convict. The badger would receive the same treatment of having his tail removed and bleeding stopped by a hot poker, struggling harder than the reptile, requiring some of the guards to help in keeping him still for the process.\n\nRotated to face the crowd, the badger remained seated and was leaned back, with additional guards stepping up to pull his legs apart and holding them up in the air. Initially confused, the badger began shouting insults at the executioner as the goat stood above him and drew a small knife, checking the edge before walking in front of his spread legs. The crowd watched in silence as the goat crouched in front of the badger's spread legs and his insults warped into screaming. Standing back up shortly after, the executioner turned to face the crowd holding the badger's genitals in his hand, showing them off to the crowd with a grin, prompting a cheer as he carelessly threw them in the fire. He stopped the bleeding from the wound with a red-hot poker again and the badger was removed from the stump, growling in pain as the reptile took his place on the stump, sobbing as he was leaned back knowing what was to come next. The reptile lost his footing and went into a violent panic for a few seconds kicking about wildly before the goat turned the crank slowly in the opposite direction. As the pressure was reduced, the reptile made a wheezing sound drawing air into his lungs and regained his footing. Taking a few long breaths, the goat brought it back to the previous position, cutting off his airway once again. Looking over at the badger again, the goat noticed he was looking down at his feet now and smirked, holding the crank for several minutes until the reptile's struggling was reduced to shakes and spasms. The goat readjusted his footing and turned the crank nearly a full rotation, stopping shortly after he hears the pop of the reptile's neck as his head jerks upright a bit and the body ceases all movement. Continuing to make eye contact with various angry citizens, the badger complies as his shoulders are pressed down, and squats down to have the collar secured around his neck. They all looked at the badger staring forward with one guard waving a hand in front of him getting no reaction. He took his place as the guards and assistants moved out of the crowd’s way and he began turning the crank. Unlike with the reptile, the badger went through several cycles of this lasting over 10 minutes of reaching the brink of losing consciousness, giving the crowd quite the show as the badger fought with all his strength every time he refilled his lungs with air. The executioner looked over to his assistants, nodding his head at them and began turning the crank very slowly, making the badger struggle harder as more pressure was applied than previously.
