“Maybe not” replied Dominus the bull looking up from his newspaper and turning it too show his friends an ad. “An exotic animal show is in town for a week. It says they have living Chocobos, Moombas and even Moogles”.
“Really?” asked Snow the bear with a surprised expression “Is that even legal? Those creatures are almost never seen outside their continent, and access to it is very highly restricted”
“We should go” said Loupy now looking excited. “We might never get another chance to see those live!”
“We better get going then” said patches standing up. “Tickets for such a rare opportunity are sure to sell out fast”.
An hour later they had arrived at the fairgrounds just outside the city, but they immediately knew something was wrong. They had expected to find the parking lot full and a huge line to buy tickets, but instead it was deserted. After parking they walked up to the ticket booth and found it closed.
Snow pointed at a sign with the shows hours of operation. “Patches, it doesn’t open until tomorrow, wasn’t that in the paper?”
“I must have misread the date” he muttered while Loupy huffed and shouted in frustration “great the day is ruined after all”.
They had just turned around to head back to the car when a voice said “Can I help you boys?” They turned to see a purple cat dressed like someone on safari standing at the gates.
“No sir” snow replied, “We thought you opened today and my friend is just really disappointed. That’s what the yelling was about, sorry to bother you. Could we possibly pre-buy tickets for tomorrow?”
The cat stared at them oddly for several moments. “Sorry can’t let you jump the queue. We always sell out and it wouldn’t be fair to other customers”
While it was the answer they expected they were still visibly disappointed to hear it.
“But …” the cat continued “you did come all this way. How about I give you a quick sneak peek?”
Their disappointment turned to excitement, especially the wolf whose tail began wagging. “Yes please!” they all replied in unison.
“Well alright, I guess introductions are in order, my name’s Mittens”.
“I’m Dominus” the highland bull introducing himself, “but most call me Patches”. His nickname was a cow joke despite his bovine species having no spots.
“I’m Loupy” said the wolf, his tail wagging so wildly it was a wonder it wasn’t propelling him across the parking lot.
Finally, the bear introduced himself as Snow, and apologized that they were disrupting Mittens work.
Mittens led them inside and they immediately were met with the scent of fresh popcorn. “I was testing the popcorn machine when I heard you, give me a sec to turn it off”. He entered a food stall and several minutes later returned with 3 small bags of popcorn and handed them to the three friends. “On the house. Had to make a test batch and it would otherwise go to waste”.
“Thank you” muttered Snow taking a big sniff of the delicious smelling bag.
They enjoyed their snack as Mittens lead them around the grounds. Showing them where the side shows would be, the concessions stands and the games.
“Um Mittens…” Patches interrupted “this is all interesting but will we get a sneak peak at the creatures too?”
“Of course you will” he replied with a smile. “I was saving the best for last” waving a hand to gesture toward a large circus style tent.
The three friends began excitedly chattering as they all walked toward it. In their rush they didn’t see the cat check his watch, and when each of them almost stumbled they though it just a misplaced step from their excitement.
The cat grinned as he pulled back a flap of the tent and ushered them to go inside.
What they saw was not what they had expected. There were Moogles and Chocobos and Moombas here, but they were much bigger than they expected and most were missing their heads.
“They’re just animatronics?” Patches asked, the disappointment plain in his voice.
“You said they were alive” Snow muttered, suddenly growing very tired as his excitement drained away.
“They are alive, or at least they soon will be” Mittens relied with a sly smile.
Before they could ask him what that meant there was a thud from behind them. Snow and Patches turned to see Loupy passed out on the floor. They rushed to him and as Patches unsteadily bent down to help the wolf he heard another even louder thud. He turned to see Snow was also passed out on the ground.
“I knew the puppy would be first of you down, but I would have bet that chubby bear would have been the last”
“What’s happening to them?” the bull asked struggling to stand back up.
“The same that will happen to you. You all ate my secret seasoning on the popcorn”.
Before he could even reply the bull toppled over and passed out on the floor.
“You just nap little calf, while I get your friends ready”, Mittens chuckled as he grabbed the wolf by his ankles and started dragging him towards the animals.
The 3 friends woke coughing and gagging.
“Wakey wakey, my new little attractions.” Mittens was standing between them recapping the bottle of smelling salts he had been passing under their noses.
The friends found themselves bound up and placed into the animal suits. Patches wore the moogle, Loupy the moomba and Snow the chocobo.
“What are you doing to us, let us go!” Loupy yelled.
“Why would I do that?” the cat chuckled. “You wanted to see the show, well now you get to be part of it!”
“What are you going to do to us?” Snow asked meekly.
“When you asked if the creatures are alive I told you they were. Well these 3 suits needed new stuffing … living stuffing”
“You can’t do this, you’ll never get away with it!” Patches shouted as he struggled to get free.
“That’s what the other dozen living stuffing I’ve collected said. By the time anyone even knows your missing we’ll have packed up and moved to the next city. I’ve been doing this for years and no one has ever caught on”.
“We will escape eventually, someone will hear us call for help” the wolf said, but it sounded like he was trying to convince himself as much as the cat.
“Once your heads are on all folks will hear are the normal sounds for your suits species. Convenient finding you three already use diapers. One less thing I’ll have to train you for. After all you’ll be working 18 hours a day. Lots of visitors come to see the animals. I can’t waste their time giving you potty breaks” he Chuckled. “Babyish as you are, I bet I don’t have to train you to drink from tubes and eat from bowls in front of the public!”
The friends all blushed and squirmed at the thought.
“So we are just going to be looked at like in a zoo?” Patches huffed.
“Not at all, my guests want to be entertained! You my little Moogle will do what Moogles do, dance! If you refuse you’ll be punished. While those wires will make you look like a marionette they are just to keep you standing. What will really make you dance is that the electric shock feature of your chastity cage. Oh I should have mentioned all three of you are wearing one, er can’t have unsightly bulges in front of the customers.”
“The fluffy little Moomba here” petting Loupy on the head, “will perform with me in a circus show. Doing tricks to amaze the crowd”.
“Never!” shouted Loupy shaking his head in refusal.
“Oh you will. The whip I’ll be using can’t hurt you through the suit, but it will trigger the shock feature of your cage if I crack it”.
“I suppose you expect to use me in chocobo races?” said the bear shuddering. “I can’t run fast even when if I’m not bound like this”.
Mittens chuckled, “oh no my plump chocobo, you won’t be racing. You’re going to show everyone how chocobo’s lay eggs” Mittens said motioning at several shockingly large replica latex eggs. “Of course I got to put them inside you first”.
Snow whimpered and struggled against his bonds in response.
“All right girls; let’s get those heads on so I can start training you. You’re all going to need a lot of practice before tomorrow”.
