picked this route because i want to see more of this place\". King Jade Adelaide, or King Adelaide, was on a diplomatic tour in the human kingdoms and was accompanied by a retinue of elite guards, advisor, officials, and translators. \"King Jade, i must insist that we take the shortest route. Humans are not known for their patience\". And of course with everyone retinue, there's that one person who always wants things done by the book and won't shut up. \"I'm sure the human can wait. Besides, it would be rude to not appreciate their hard work at maintaining their real, something which they often struggle at\". \"I... Fine. As you wish, my King\".\n\nThe King and her retinue were travelling through a forest that was, as the i-love-my-rules basitin said, not the optimal route. But, King Adelaide did have a bit of a taste for adventure and travelling through a forest in foreign land did bring her some joy. They continued travelling until they had exited the forest and came upon a village. The basitin king pulled out a map from her satchel.\n\"My King, why have we stopped?\" asked the annoying basitin.\n\"Just checking to make sure we're on the right patch\". She traced a finger from where they landed, to the path they've walked, the forest behind them, then over their current location. \"Yes. This is the place. Riftwall\" said the King.\n\"Riftwall?\". The rule loving basitin pulled a out a map from his map filled satchel, and checked the path the King had planned and immediately realized they had taken a wrong turn.\n\"My King, we've gone the wrong way. We should... My King?\". King Adelaide was nowhere to be found.\n\"What the!? Where's King Adelaide!?\" the basitin asked in a panic to the rest of the retinue.\n\"Oh, she ran off into the village\" said one the elite guards.\n\"What!? She ran off and you didn't stop her!?\".\n\"You seriously think i'd able to stop a mountain like her?\".\n\"I don't care!! You were suppose to-\",\n\"Wait, isn't the this the village where Maddie lives, the King's exiled daughter who got pregnant out of mating season?\" said one the basitin officials. For a second they thought there was no way their King would do such a thing. But the King's footprints lead into the village, which also had a nearby sign that said \"Riftwall\". \"Uh oh\". And the whole retinue chased after their king.\n\nThe basitin King was frantically looking for the tavern described in her daughter's first letter. Going from street to street, looking up and down the roads. It may be a village, but it was a fairly big village. She makes it to the\nvillage's center, then recalls from her daughter's latter the tavern's 2nd floor had a clear line of view to where she is currently standing. But from which direction? She looked for any tall buildings with a clear view to her\nposition and spotted one, and immediately ran towards the building, hoping it's the right one. She makes it to the building and sees a hanging sign that says \"Adira's Family Tavern\". She smiled. This was the place.\n\"KING ADELAIDE!\".\n\"You have got to be kidding me\" said the annoyed King Jade. The damn retinue had caught up to her.\n*Pant* *Pant* \"King Jade Adelaide, what do you think you're trying to do?\" said the annoying basitin.\n\"That's none of your concern\".\n\"I'm afraid it is, my King. We know your exiled daughter lives in this tavern and you without a doubt knows it is forbidden to see her\".\n\"I DON'T CARE! She is my daughter and i'm NOT get let you or some stone age rule keep me from her\".\nShe walks towards the door but her elite guards moves into position and blocks her from entering.\n\"My King, i'd advice that you cease any attempts to enter this building\" said the commander.\nJade gets visibly angry, clenching her fist.\n\"Jade, don't force us to apprehend and drag you back to the isles\".\n\"Fine. You asked for it\". The guards get ready to fight.\n\"1... 2... 3\" SLAM!! ... ... ...\n\"Are... are we dead?\" asks one of the guards. The guards opened theirs eyes and checked if someone was now a fine red paste, but they were all still standing.\n\"I think she missed us?\".\n\"No. Look\" pointing to the king. She had smashed a large rock, as big as her, into tiny small pieces with one single punch. She stepped towards the commander, his legs shacking with fear as the juggernaut king blot out the sun. She took off his helmet and crushed it with one hand, and while holding still holding it, looked into the commander's battle scared eyes. \"Move. Aside\" she demanded.\n\nAdelaide opened the door and saw a gravid adult snow leopard keidran sweeping the floors.\n\"Sorry, but we're closed for today\" said the snow leopard without even looking at her.\n\"I'm here for my daughter\". The snow leopard keidrans turns to look at the basitin king.\n\"By the gods, you are huge\" completely forgetting the topic at hand.\n\"I'm not here for compliments. Where is Madddie?\".\n\"Maddie? Are you-\".\n\"Yes, i'm her mother. Where is she?\" slightly raising her voice\nafter having to repeat herself so much.\n\"She's in one of our old bedrooms. Follow me\". The king followed closely behind as they walked to Maddie's room. As they neared the door, fear began to race through Jade's mind. Was Maddie ok? Has she been crying everyday? Is she a degenerate now? What would meet her eyes behind that door? A part of her wanted to run away instead of risking endless nightmares if the worst has happened.\n\"In here\".\n\"Wh- What?\" said the confused Adelaide not having paid attention.\n\"I said Maddie is in here\".\n\"Oh. What met her eyes did shock her, but nowhere near as much as she had thought. The female basitin in the room had her back towards Jade, unaware of her presence. The basitin's ankles were not covered and wore no pants. Just underwear and a shirt that only covered her chest, her waist too wide to be covered. She looked like a degenerate by eastern basitin standards. But the basitin's degenerate look were not by choice, but by circumstances she didn't wish for. And Jade Adelaide knew her name. \"Maddie?\". Her ears suddenly raised and she slowly turned around to see who it was. Now face to face, eyes locked on each other. Neither made a move. They stood still, seeing what they thought they'd never see again. As the realization of what they were seeing was true, tears welled in their eyes, smiles formed as the joy they both have been denied since their forced separation now returned to them. \"Mom\". \"Maddie, my dear\". The tall basitin mom knelt down, and Maddie moved as quickly as she could in her state to embrace her mother. \"I thought i'd never see you again, mom\" said Maddie with tears streaming down her cheeks. \"It's ok, dear, i'm here now\". She hugged tightly, her mother gently brushing her daughter's unkempt hair.\n\nMaddie took a step back and looked at her mother, happy she got to see her again. But that happiness quickly turned to embarrassment as she realized she was standing half naked in front of her mom, visibly showing her big pregnant belly and breasts that were outlined by her shirt. Poor embarrassment Maddie tried to pull down her shirt to cover the belly but no luck.\n\"It's ok, sweetie, you don't have hide it\".\n\"But it's so embarrassing\". Her highness Adelaide looked towards the stairs where the unknown voice came from, and what she saw made her jaw drop. If she thought her little Maddie's pregnant belly was the biggest she had ever seen, then this blew all that out of the water. The snow leopard belly was massive and by the looks of it, she is actually having problems standing and even lifting it with her back. The snow leopard, who she presumed to be Maeve, walked down the stairs and each step was careful and slow, lest she risked falling down. She made it down and over to the table, sat down hard on the chair to rest her sore feet. The young snow leopard's belly nearly reached her knees while sitting. Jade was stunned, at a loss for words.\n\"Uhhh... Lady Adira, may i ask you a question?\".\n\"Let me guess. You wanna know why my daughter is pregnant, right?\".\n\"That was my second question. The sun is not even fully up yet\" says a tired and annoyed Adira.\n\"Could it be one of the guards or a bounty hunter?\" asks Brutus.\n\"A guard? Maybe. A bounty hunter? I highly doubt it\" replies Adira as she is walking down the stairs and over to the door. The rest followed with her to the door and stood close by. The door was opened to the sight of a basitin warrior.\n\"Where can we find her highness King Jade Adelaide? Her presence is required\" said the basitin warrior. Jade stepped into view of the basitin.\n\"Your highness, we believe we have found the perpetrator and father of your daughter's child\". Everyone gasped. \"Where is he?\" asked the king.\n\"Bring him forward\" ordered the basitin. Two other basitin warriors dragged the suspect along the ground and then threw him onto the dirt.\n\nMaddie and Jade walked over to him, with Maeve and Adira standing a few steps away. With a groan, the suspect slowly stood up and showed his face to them, and Jade was beyond shocked to see who it was.\n\"YOU!?\" said the Jade in a raised voice.\n\"Hello... Jadie, my darling. Been a few years, hasn't it?\" said the suspect.\n\"Mom, you know him?\" asked Maddie.\n\"Know him!? Maddie, that's your father!!\". Everyone, even the basitin warriors, let out a loud gasp.\n\"My... My father?\".\n\"I have a name and it's Rini. And what's this i'm hearing? That insanely gravid basitin is my daughter?\" asked Maddie's father. "King Jade, the route you've picked for our next destination is not optimal and will delay us by several days". "I picked this route because i want to see more of this place". King Jade Adelaide, or King Adelaide, was on a diplomatic tour in the human kingdoms and was accompanied by a retinue of elite guards, advisor, officials, and translators. "King Jade, i must insist that we take the shortest route. Humans are not known for their patience". And of course with everyone retinue, there's that one person who always wants things done by the book and won't shut up. "I'm sure the human can wait. Besides, it would be rude to not appreciate their hard work at maintaining their real, something which they often struggle at". "I... Fine. As you wish, my King".

The King and her retinue were travelling through a forest that was, as the i-love-my-rules basitin said, not the optimal route. But, King Adelaide did have a bit of a taste for adventure and travelling through a forest in foreign land did bring her some joy. They continued travelling until they had exited the forest and came upon a village. The basitin king pulled out a map from her satchel.
"My King, why have we stopped?" asked the annoying basitin.
"Just checking to make sure we're on the right patch". She traced a finger from where they landed, to the path they've walked, the forest behind them, then over their current location. "Yes. This is the place. Riftwall" said the King.
"Riftwall?". The rule loving basitin pulled a out a map from his map filled satchel, and checked the path the King had planned and immediately realized they had taken a wrong turn.
"My King, we've gone the wrong way. We should... My King?". King Adelaide was nowhere to be found.
"What the!? Where's King Adelaide!?" the basitin asked in a panic to the rest of the retinue.
"Oh, she ran off into the village" said one the elite guards.
"What!? She ran off and you didn't stop her!?".
"You seriously think i'd able to stop a mountain like her?".
"I don't care!! You were suppose to-",
"Wait, isn't the this the village where Maddie lives, the King's exiled daughter who got pregnant out of mating season?" said one the basitin officials. For a second they thought there was no way their King would do such a thing. But the King's footprints lead into the village, which also had a nearby sign that said "Riftwall". "Uh oh". And the whole retinue chased after their king.

The basitin King was frantically looking for the tavern described in her daughter's first letter. Going from street to street, looking up and down the roads. It may be a village, but it was a fairly big village. She makes it to the
village's center, then recalls from her daughter's latter the tavern's 2nd floor had a clear line of view to where she is currently standing. But from which direction? She looked for any tall buildings with a clear view to her
position and spotted one, and immediately ran towards the building, hoping it's the right one. She makes it to the building and sees a hanging sign that says "Adira's Family Tavern". She smiled. This was the place.
"KING ADELAIDE!".
"You have got to be kidding me" said the annoyed King Jade. The damn retinue had caught up to her.
*Pant* *Pant* "King Jade Adelaide, what do you think you're trying to do?" said the annoying basitin.
"That's none of your concern".
"I'm afraid it is, my King. We know your exiled daughter lives in this tavern and you without a doubt knows it is forbidden to see her".
"I DON'T CARE! She is my daughter and i'm NOT get let you or some stone age rule keep me from her".
She walks towards the door but her elite guards moves into position and blocks her from entering.
"My King, i'd advice that you cease any attempts to enter this building" said the commander.
Jade gets visibly angry, clenching her fist.
"Jade, don't force us to apprehend and drag you back to the isles".
"Fine. You asked for it". The guards get ready to fight.
"1... 2... 3" SLAM!! ... ... ...
"Are... are we dead?" asks one of the guards. The guards opened theirs eyes and checked if someone was now a fine red paste, but they were all still standing.
"I think she missed us?".
"No. Look" pointing to the king. She had smashed a large rock, as big as her, into tiny small pieces with one single punch. She stepped towards the commander, his legs shacking with fear as the juggernaut king blot out the sun. She took off his helmet and crushed it with one hand, and while holding still holding it, looked into the commander's battle scared eyes. "Move. Aside" she demanded.

Adelaide opened the door and saw a gravid adult snow leopard keidran sweeping the floors.
"Sorry, but we're closed for today" said the snow leopard without even looking at her.
"I'm here for my daughter". The snow leopard keidrans turns to look at the basitin king.
"By the gods, you are huge" completely forgetting the topic at hand.
"I'm not here for compliments. Where is Madddie?".
"Maddie? Are you-".
"Yes, i'm her mother. Where is she?" slightly raising her voice
after having to repeat herself so much.
"She's in one of our old bedrooms. Follow me". The king followed closely behind as they walked to Maddie's room. As they neared the door, fear began to race through Jade's mind. Was Maddie ok? Has she been crying everyday? Is she a degenerate now? What would meet her eyes behind that door? A part of her wanted to run away instead of risking endless nightmares if the worst has happened.
"In here".
"Wh- What?" said the confused Adelaide not having paid attention.
"I said Maddie is in here".
"Oh. Thanks. Could you please leave us alone for awhile?".
"Sure. I'll be down at the bar if you need me".

She slowly opened the door, dreading what be might behind. What met her eyes did shock her, but nowhere near as much as she had thought. The female basitin in the room had her back towards Jade, unaware of her presence. The basitin's ankles were not covered and wore no pants. Just underwear and a shirt that only covered her chest, her waist too wide to be covered. She looked like a degenerate by eastern basitin standards. But the basitin's degenerate look were not by choice, but by circumstances she didn't wish for. And Jade Adelaide knew her name. "Maddie?". Her ears suddenly raised and she slowly turned around to see who it was. Now face to face, eyes locked on each other. Neither made a move. They stood still, seeing what they thought they'd never see again. As the realization of what they were seeing was true, tears welled in their eyes, smiles formed as the joy they both have been denied since their forced separation now returned to them. "Mom". "Maddie, my dear". The tall basitin mom knelt down, and Maddie moved as quickly as she could in her state to embrace her mother. "I thought i'd never see you again, mom" said Maddie with tears streaming down her cheeks. "It's ok, dear, i'm here now". She hugged tightly, her mother gently brushing her daughter's unkempt hair.

Maddie took a step back and looked at her mother, happy she got to see her again. But that happiness quickly turned to embarrassment as she realized she was standing half naked in front of her mom, visibly showing her big pregnant belly and breasts that were outlined by her shirt. Poor embarrassment Maddie tried to pull down her shirt to cover the belly but no luck.
"It's ok, sweetie, you don't have hide it".
"But it's so embarrassing". Jade grabbed her daughter's hands and looked into her eyes.
"It's ok. I want to see my grandchild".
"You... You really want to see it?".
"Yes. May i?". She nervously pulled up her shirt despite it hardly covering her huge belly at all.
"My goodness, i didn't think you'd be this pregnant".
"Is that bad?".
"No, not at all. May i listen for how many you're carrying, Maddie?".
"Sure... i guess". She stood nervously still, waiting to hear if it wasn't one child that ruined her life.
"That's odd. I can hear only one".
"Why is that odd?".
"Well, the size of your belly fits more someone with twins, yet you're carrying one large child".
"But weren't you huge when you were a baby, mom?".
"I was, yes. I wonder if this is due to my massive height and your baby has inherited some of it". Little Maddie felt jealous that her baby would likely grow taller than she was.
"Great. Not only has this child ruined my life, it will even grow bigger than me".
"Maddie, don't say such things".
"But it's true, mom. This all because of the lee-", her mother placed a finger of her mouth.
"Hush, Maddie. I know you're angry over what has happened, i've gone through it myself when i was pregnant with you".
"You... You have?".
"Yes. Your father climbed his way up my tower and onto the balcony that lead to my bedroom just to say he liked me. I was struck with love that someone like him would go to such lengths to see me, and so him and i had some fun. But then the next day he was gone, nowhere to be found. The doctors then told me after a few months that i was pregnant and everyone at the court wanted to know who the father was. It became a huge scandal and i hated the child inside me". Poor Maddie felt guilty, even started to slightly hate her own existence.
"But one day when i was out on the balcony, the same one where i met your father. I realized something. You must see the good side of motherhood".
"I don't understand, mom. What good is there when so much has been taken from you?". Her mother smiled and gave a simple answer, "You".
"Me?".
"Yes. When the day came when i gave birth to you, i didn't see the child that had taken from me. I saw
you. I saw my little girl Maddie". The sad basitin Maddie understood what she was saying, tears again streaming down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry, mom. I didn't know. I just wanted my life back".
"I know, dear. But you can still get a new better life. A life as a caring mother who wants to see their child grow". "I'll... I'll try, mom".
"I know you will", then gave her daughter a kiss on the cheek. "Phew, i'm hungry. Does the snow leopard woman serve food here?".
"Oh, you mean Adira? Yes, she does. Let's get something to eat, mom".

Lady Adira was kind enough to cook food for little Maddie and Adelaide for free, given what they've been through.
"Maeve, Brutus, there's food if you want some" shouted Adira.
"Are they your children, Adira?" asked her majesty Jade.
"Maeve is, but not Brutus".
"Is he your husband, then?".
"Nope, he is my daughter's mate, or boyfriend as you basitin prefer to call it".
"Oh, your daughter has a boyfriend, how is he like?".
"Maeve can answer that question better than i can".
"Hey, mommy" said an unknown person.
"Well speak of the devil" said lady Adira. Her highness Adelaide looked towards the stairs where the unknown voice came from, and what she saw made her jaw drop. If she thought her little Maddie's pregnant belly was the biggest she had ever seen, then this blew all that out of the water. The snow leopard belly was massive and by the looks of it, she is actually having problems standing and even lifting it with her back. The snow leopard, who she presumed to be Maeve, walked down the stairs and each step was careful and slow, lest she risked falling down. She made it down and over to the table, sat down hard on the chair to rest her sore feet. The young snow leopard's belly nearly reached her knees while sitting. Jade was stunned, at a loss for words.
"Uhhh... Lady Adira, may i ask you a question?".
"Let me guess. You wanna know why my daughter is pregnant, right?".
"That was my second question. I wanted to know if this a tradition of some kind? I mean, you and your daughter are both pregnant, and you don't see that often".
"No, it's not tradition. I got pregnant by accident. I thought i was interfile and the many times i've had sex seemed to confirm that. But then me and my mate used some special leaves to get us into the right mood, but none of us knew it would also increase my fertility. As for my daughter. Also an accident. Her mate came to our tavern one day and got a little too drunk, took my daughter with him to bed, and you can guess the rest". The basitin king's face was a mix of surprise and shock.
"So you both got pregnant by accident almost at the same time".
"Oh, my first pregnancy was an accident. This is my seconds pregnancy and i did it willingly" said little Maeve. "What!!? This is your second pregnancy!? And you you did it willingly"?" said her majesty Jade in complete shock. Maeve nodded.
"And did you allow it, Adira?".
"No, not at all. But i can't really control what those two lovebirds do. And beside, they're very happy together and are good parents". Jade couldn't believe what she was hearing but decided not to push it.

The king gave her thanks to Adira for the free meal and went out to the Tavern's backyard, then sat on the grass. Her mind was spinning. A pregnant mother and daughter, who is not even an adult yet, going about their day like it's nothing, and then hearing from the daughter it's her second pregnancy. This is the kind of stuff you'd hear from some cult of debaucher. She didn't know if she should feel sick or feel pity for their bad luck and. It was then she noticed the young snow leopard Maeve was sitting next to her.
"You ok?" asked the little feline.
"No, not at all. I don't understand. How... Why would you allow yourself to get pregnant again? Don't you know you're too young to be a mother?". Maeve looked up to the skys.
"Yeah, i kinda ask myself that sometimes when i'm alone. I still remember the first time i was pregnant and when my mother told me what would likely happen to little Niall".
"Niall? Is your child, Maeve?".
"Mhm. Mommy said it was likely he would... would... d-d-d". The feline stopped for a second and wiped away a tear. "I'd rather not say that word.".
"You don't have to, Maeve. But if you know what could happen, why do it a second time?".
"I want to have family".
"Yes, but you can wait till you're ready. Then there would be much less risk."
"I know. But when i saw how Niall was. Healthy, active, strong, i couldn't help but convince myself that i was ready to be a mother, that my body can handle it".
*Sigh* "Maeve. Sometimes luck is on your side where failure would've been the only outcome. Remember that". Maeve looked down on her massive pregnant belly, wondering if she would be lucky again?
"May i ask something about your boyfriend Brutus?".
"Of course, miss uhhhh... What's your name?".
"Jade. King Jade Adelaide. You can call me Jade or Adelaide".
"You're a king? Isn't that title given to rulers who are male?".
"I'll explain. Unlike the rest of the human real. In eastern basitin society, we don't have a queens, only a kings. However, the title king is not passed to the child once the ruler has passed. Instead the next king is the one with the
highest military prestige. Winning many battles, cunning planning, master in the arts of dueling, and strength. All the traits and skills that makes someone a master warrior".
"And how did you get chosen as king?".
"I toppled a tower by lifting it with my bare hands". The little felines eyes were wide in disbelief.
"No way. That's impossible".
"So thought everyone in the kingdom. Yet here i am. A king". Maeve shacked her head, not at all convinced.

"Anyway. I wanted to ask about your boyfriend Brutus. Can you tell me more about him?".
"Sure. What do you want to know?".
"I... I don't know. Does he live with you? Do you see him often? His age?".
"Brutus does live with us, and he sleeps with me. And we see each other pretty much whenever it's possible. We really love each other and he loves to kiss me, hug my belly, cuddle with me." The little feline went silent as she went to dreamy land.
"Maeve?".
"Wha? Oh, sorry. But yeah, i really love him. But he must love me even more. Look". Maeve extended her hand towards her highness.
"Is there something i'm suppose to see?". Maeve pointed to a round metal object on her ring finger. "Is that a ring,
Maeve?".
"Mhm. Me and Brutus are engaged are going to get married one day. Well, at least not until i'm older before mommy will approve it".
"Wait wait, hold on. You're telling me the very same person who got you pregnant while drunk, is now your fiancé?".
"Yep".
"And how old is he?".
"14 in keidran, so about 30-33 in human years".
"By the gods. When i came here, i thought the only surprise would be to see my daughter after having been apart for months, yet here you come and share with me a story you only hear from drunk pervert at a local human tavern. No offence, Maeve".
"It's fine. I understand our relationship is very unusual".
"An understatement, Maeve".

The two sat in silence, looking at the clouds, the tree, enjoying the good outdoor. But it did not last, Jade face's grew sorrow.

"May i ask you something, Maeve?". The keidran feline looked up to Jade. "My daughter Maddie. How... How has she been? Tell me everything".
"You sure? It wa-".
"Everything". Maeve hesitated, looked to the trees, the grass, unsure if she should tell.
"Not well. She didn't believe me when i said she was pregnant and thought i was joking, but believed me shortly after when she saw her child kicking. She threw chairs, tables, and smashed her fists into the walls
enough to make her hands bleed".
"I had already guessed that would happen. She knew she was innocent but would get exiled, regardless of the reasons. What did she do after?".
"She stayed in her room everyday, almost never coming out. She hated the pregnancy so much, we had to leave food at the door and then leave before she'd get it. She wouldn't let anyone see her". Adelaide looked back at the tavern.
"She stayed in her room all that time? Gods. I did not expect to hate it that much, even to the point of hiding from you and Adira".
"Yeah, and i was very worried for her. Almost everyday i sat at the door and talked with her, and hoping i could convince her to come out but she refused. Sometimes she allowed me into her room to check if everything was well with her, but would later allow me to enter the room whenever i wanted".
"That's so sweet of you to care so much for my Maddie, and i can see why".
The kind Maeve scratched behind her head and looked away in a it-was-nothing-just-helping way.
"She did start to come a little after she had read your letter and seemed more happy in general".
"Then my letter had the intended effect".
"What did you write on the letter, if you don't mind me ask?".
"I wrote two letters, in fact. I had secret letter attached to the official letter, tightly enough that you wouldn't notice it. I wrote on it that i would try to find a loophole in our laws that would allow her to return home, and that she must stay strong. As for what was on the official letter. Let's just say i had write something i hope to never write again to my daughter".
"And i hope you find that loophole. Maddie doesn't deserve exile". The basitin hugged the little feline.
"Thank you, Maeve. It seems i was wrong about you. Still a bit strange that you're pregnant, but i now believe you just want to be a happy mom". They exchanged smiles and hugs, then went back into the tavern.

The rest of the day went by with pleasant talks, stories, good food, good company, and some dirty talk from a drunk Brutus. King Jade decided to stay a few days as there was no telling when she'd get to see her daughter again. And because of the basitin king's massive height, she had to sleep on the floor. Thankfully she brought something to lay on the hard floor to sleep on. Wasn't much, but worth it if it meant sleeping next to her precious Maddie.

Maddie and her mother, and most likely the rest in the tavern, are woken up to a loud banging on the front door. "Who bangs on the door this early in the morning like that?" asked the still tired Maddie who let out a yawn.
"If my many  years has taught me anything, that type of banging always means trouble or it's something important" answered Jade.
"I wonder what's so important it can't wait?".
"Only one way to find out". They both got out their beds in haste, not bothering to put on much clothing. They open the door to the hallway and see Maeve, Adira and Brutus all looking confused and a little tired.
"Who the hell is knocking on the door? The sun is not even fully up yet" says a tired and annoyed Adira.
"Could it be one of the guards or a bounty hunter?" asks Brutus.
"A guard? Maybe. A bounty hunter? I highly doubt it" replies Adira as she is walking down the stairs and over to the door. The rest followed with her to the door and stood close by. The door was opened to the sight of a basitin warrior.
"Where can we find her highness King Jade Adelaide? Her presence is required" said the basitin warrior. Jade stepped into view of the basitin.
"Your highness, we believe we have found the perpetrator and father of your daughter's child". Everyone gasped. "Where is he?" asked the king.
"Bring him forward" ordered the basitin. Two other basitin warriors dragged the suspect along the ground and then threw him onto the dirt.

Maddie and Jade walked over to him, with Maeve and Adira standing a few steps away. With a groan, the suspect slowly stood up and showed his face to them, and Jade was beyond shocked to see who it was.
"YOU!?" said the Jade in a raised voice.
"Hello... Jadie, my darling. Been a few years, hasn't it?" said the suspect.
"Mom, you know him?" asked Maddie.
"Know him!? Maddie, that's your father!!". Everyone, even the basitin warriors, let out a loud gasp.
"My... My father?".
"I have a name and it's Rini. And what's this i'm hearing? That insanely gravid basitin is my daughter?" asked Maddie's father. Jade grabbed Rini by the neck, not happy with the indifferent respond.
"You could at least show a bit of surprise when meeting your daughter for the first time, Rini".
"Surprise? What's there to be surprised about? I either did or didn't get a child when i slept with you, and it seems i have one now. Wooo-fucking-hooo". "What? I don't... Why are you saying that, Rini? I don't remember you ever being this cold".
"Then you clearly don't know me well". Jade let go of Rini.
"Unbelivable. I thought you were a kind, a caring person when i let you into my bed that night. I loved you that night and seeing you gone next day broke my heart. Yet here you are with nothing but cold, harsh words for me and your daughter, who you got pregnant". Rini turns to look at Maddie.
"That girl, my daughter, is pregnant with my child?" said Rini as he looks closer at her. "Ohhhh... It's you. So that shy, inexperienced girl i slept who asked a bunch of question was actually my daughter? And that child growing inside her is mine?". Jade looked ready to knock  the lights out of him, and poor little Maddie seemed on the verge of tears.
"Huh. Seems like incest feels no different than with a regular whore". *Punch*. Everyone was shocked at what just happened. Maddie punched her dad's face right into the dirt, and then grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up. Blood was streaming out of his nose.
"How can you say that to me, dad!? How can you treat me like i'm so worthless street whore!?". Rini smiled.
"I met and fucked you like a street whore, didn't i? Maddie. And besides, i have only known you as my daughter for a few minutes. As a whore? Months".

Poor Maddie was losing her grip on him. The shock, horror, and disbelief that her own father could treat her like that. It was like a dagger through the heart and watching your own father stabbing you over, and over, and over again and seeing him do it with a smile.
"Inside the tavern, Maeve. Now!" said Adira as she quickly took her own daughter away from this madness. When the door was shut, Maddie lost her grip on Rini and staggered backward, almost falling. A nearby basitin warrior safely caught her.
"Your highness, what should i do with Maddie?".
"Take her inside the tavern. She has suffered enough from this... Worm". The basitin did as told. The now royally mad mother Jade grabbed Rini by the hair and lifted him up into the air. "Answer me this. Why? Why all this?". Rini coughed and spit out some blood.
"What do you think? I lived my entire life being told who i am, who i should be, who i must be. I was told everyday i wasn't allowed to see a pretty basitin girl. Why? Rules. Fucking rules. And what happens when you break them? Your parents beat you with a stick or with their fists. If not your parents, then the fucking guards. And they all said the same. No good basitin breaks the rules or looks at a lady out of mating season. I didn't climb your tower because i loved you, i did it because i was desperate. Desperate for one simply thing. Sex. And guess what? None of the basitin women wanted to mate with me and why would they? They all knew i was a trouble maker and was not worth their time. But you. You didn't care about my past. You just saw a nice looking basitin that you invited in your chamber".
"And that's why i let you in. I knew who you were, i knew none of the females basitins wanted you, so i thought you came to me as your last hope for a mate and i accepted it. I thought you left me because you knew you'd get in serious trouble, so to protect yourself and me, you left. But i see i was wrong". "So what now, my dear Jade?". "You pay in pain and blood". Screams of torture and endless pain from broken bones was heard.

It was late in the evening. The heart broken Jade sat in a corner in the tavern, with tears streaming down. For years she had thought Rini was a good person, a person who was simply not suited for the basitin way of life but still wanted to be a good person. And that night. It was all lie. Just Rini and his selfish desires. She stood up and walked over to Adira, Maeve and Brutus who sitting at a table.
"I'm sorry you all had to hear that" said Jade.
"I understand why you did it, no need to apologize. But do please warn us next time, for Maeve's sake" said the somewhat miffed Adira.
"I promise". She walked up to Maddie's bedroom and knocks on the door. "Maddie?". No reply. She opens the door and sees her daughter sitting on the bed, gently brushing her gravid belly. Jade sits next to her.
"My father... He didn't care. Didn't care about me... the child. Just... Didn't care" said Maddie. Jade hugs her poor daughter. "Don't think about it, Maddie. Forget he ever existed".
"How can i forget the very time seeing my father and hearing him, in his cold voice, call me a whore?".
"I don't know how. But you have to try if you don't want it dragging you down forever".
The unsure basitin looked at the window. "Did you... kill him?".
"No, he still lives. He will be sent back to the kingdom and do hard labor for the next 18 years to support you". "Support me how?".
"Every piece of cooper, silver or gold he would make from his work will go to you. You shouldn't suffer because of him", Jade puts on a hand on Maddie's belly. "And neither should your sibling". Maddie looked at her mother in shock and confusion.
"My sibling? I don't have any siblings, mom".
"You will soon, and they're right here", brushing her daughter's belly. It didn't take long to connect the dots.
"My child is my sibling? Wha- Ho- I don't understand. How can i be pregnant with my sibling?".
"I'll explain. If a father has a child with their daughter, that daughter's child becomes their sibling but also their son or daughter. If your father had a child with someone else, that child would still be your sibling, just like if i
had a child with a different person".
"So... I'm going to have a brother or a sister?".
"Correct. And that brother or sister is also your own child". Her daughter looked at her belly. "You ok, Maddie?". "I'm just... surprised and amazed. I've always wanted a sibling but i never expected it would be like this. My own little brother or little sister... and i'm the mother? So confusing". Big sister Maddie smiled. The memories of depression and despair she had suffered over the many weeks faded away. The life inside her was no leech, it was her sibling and her child. The feelings of motherhood and sister mixed together.

"OW!". But of course, there's always something to ruin the mood.
"You ok, Maddie?".
"I'm fine. But for some reason my child kicks constantly".
"How long has it been going?".
"About a month or so".
"Hmmm... Do you know how many weeks pregnant you are?".
"I'm 37 weeks pregnant, if Maeve has properly kept track of it".
"I see. It's because your child is ready to be born". The pregnant basitin's heart dropped, her face losing color.
"You mean.. I could-".
"Go into labor? Yes. Your child could come any second now". Poor Maddie started to shake and her teeth chattering.
"I'm not sure i can do it. I'm not ready. I can't do it. Mom, i'm scared" said the frightened Maddie in panicking voice. "Sshhhhh, easy there. Lay down on your bed and i'll sing you a song".
"A song? Mom, i'm panicking here".
"Trust me". The scared basitin lies down and focuses on her mother. When her mother start singing, she immediately recognize the song. It's her favorite lullaby from her childhood. While singing, her mother brushes her belly. The panicking and fear fades away and is replaced by happy memories of the times she and her mother spent together. Soon she is asleep. "Sleep well", and kisses her on the check.

It's next day and her highness Jade is preparing to continue her diplomatic mission.
"Well, guess it's time i moved on to the next human lord i need to visit" said the Jade.
"When will you be back, mom?".
"I don't know. My duties keeps me busy everyday, but i will trying to come visit you when i can". Maddie hugs her.
"Thanks for everything. I promise i'll care for my sibling".
"I know you will".
"My king, we really should to get going" says one of Jade's guards.
"Just a second". The guard walks away.
"I can't help but get the feeling that everyone who meets us always ends up pregnant, like it's some curse. I wonder if you'll get pregnant again, Jade" says the joking Adira.
"Hah. I'm too old to have any more kids".
"So thought i", Adira lifting her gravid belly.
"Well if i do, i have you to thank". "
It was nice meeting you" said the little snow leopard Maeve.
"Could we please go somewhere private? There's something i need to share with you all". They all stepped inside the tavern.
"Listen, there's something you all need to know about basitin culture. We don't give birth the usual way humans and you keidrans do it". "Wait, they come out somewhere else?" asks the confused keidran Adira.
"No no no, i said culture. See, we basitin have a tradition where you must stand up while giving birth as doing it while laying down is seen as weakness. And members of the basitin king are NEVER allowed to
lay to give birth. Never. Everyone will force you to do it standing, guards, elders, doctors, all of them".
"Wait, you want me to give birth while standing, mom?" asks the panicking Maddie. "I'm afraid so. I know i said our rules are terrible and i wish i could change them. But this i'm asking you to do for me and your sibling".
"But why? Why can't i do it laying down?".
"Because i want to prove to yourself that you can do it, to prove your own strength. There's a
long held belief that if you don't, you'll forever feel you've failed yourself. I don't know if it's true but i don't want you to risk it. Please". Everyone looks at Maddie.
"I... I don't... Ok. I'll do it. I swear".
"Thanks. Maeve, Adira. Please help my daughter through it".
"You can count on me, Jade" says Maeve.
"That's a very weird thing. But sure, i'll help Maddie" says Adira.
"Thank you. Thank you all for your help".
"But wait, what should i do after i have given birth? I have nowhere to stay" says Maddie.
"That's not true, at all. You're more than welcome to stay with us" says the kind lady Adira.
"You'd really let me stay here?".
"Of course. Just remember to clean your room and take bath often".
"And it's here i want you to start your life, Maddie. With your friends and with your sibling. You've grown a lot, Maddie. I know you'll find happiness here" said Jade. "Thanks, mom. I'll make you proud", wiping away a tear.
"I know you will", kissing her on the forehead.


And so her highness Jade continues her diplomatic mission, waving goodbye to friends and daughter, and they waving back. Adira and Maeve walks back inside, but no Maddie. She looks on the horizon and sees the sun rises, turning the next page in her life. This will the sight her child, her sibling will grow up knowing. The sight of where Maddie's life began anew.
