Except poor Adira got a bit more than she asked for when she became a grandmother. And how is this little innocent Maeve's fault, you ask? Well. By becoming a mother herself and have a keidran child that is as active as time itself. As in, Niall just won't stand still. And since all keidrans between the age of 0 - 2 are feral, and that Niall is already twice the size of a regular keidran child in his age. Yeah. You have an unstoppable furry ball of both mass and energy. But on the bright side, that just means Maeve's son will grow up big and strong, just like his father. Unfortunately, all this also means caring mother Adira sleeps a lot more than usual, and so her mate Zen have been asked to care for the young mommy Maeve, if she is too tired.\n\n\nNiall is currently sleeping with grandmother Adira in her bedroom, after they both managed to exhaust themselves running and chasing. Brutus is currently at work earning some money to support his family. And so the unlucky wolf Zen have been asked to babysit Maeve for the first time. \n\n\nHe showed up around early afternoon, knocked on the door and was welcomed in by the little snow leopard Maeve.\n\"Hey, Zen. How was the trip to our village?\" she asked.\n\"Oh, it was ok. Nothing special\". He finds himself a table to sit at.\n\"Can i get you anything, Zen?\".\n\"I thought that was a question i was suppose to ask\".\n\"It's fine, Zen. I can take care of myself for the most part\".\n\"If you can take care of yourself, why was i asked to babysit you?\" he said slightly annoyed.\n\"Mommy said she prefers there's someone to keep an eye on me. Brutus is working and won't be home until evening\".\n\"So i'm just here to watch you do everything by yourself and do nothing else?\". \n\"No, i can't do everything by myself. Not at the moment\".\n\"Why?\" he asked, confused.\n\"Because my belly has gotten too big\".\nHe looks at her belly and it's definitely bigger than it was at her birthday.\n\"Ok, but how is that problem?\".\n\"My belly keeps getting in the way. When i have to grab something at a shelve, my belly will bump into the wall or counter and then i can't reach it. Sometimes i need help getting my clothes on, especially my pants, as i can't reach stright down or i would just hit my belly\".\n\"That makes sense and explains why you're not wearing pants. For a second i really thought i was only here to watch you, and only that\".\n\n\nWith that settled. Babysitter Zen made sure to keep an eye, and ear, on Maeve. He wasn't used to this kind of life style as he has lived on the road most of his life, but he did find it somewhat enjoyable. It was now mid afternoon and both were in the snow leopard's bedroom, cleaning up and sorting things. Zen decided to take a short break so he and Maeve sat down on the bed.\n\"Can i ask you something, Maeve?\" said the keidran wolf Zen.\n\"Sure\".\n\"When you first learned you were... pregnant, did you panic or anything?\".\n\"Nope. When mommy told me i was going to be a mommy too, i was so happy\".\n\"Why? Didn't you know keidrans at such a young age aren't suppose to have kids?\".\n\"I did. I remember asking mommy if i could be a mommy but she said i had to wait until i was an adult. I didn't understand why as i thought you just had beg or ask a stork for a baby\".\n\"Ah, yes. That old fairy tale parents tell their kids. But weren't you afraid of what could happen to you and Niall as you wasn't ready to have kids?\".\n\"I was. Mommy was, too. I was mostly happy but i'd sometimes look at my belly and think this would be the last day for Niall. But nothing seemed to happen. My belly kept growing and i was still feeling ok. Then one day while was out training in the forst\". Zen interjects.\n\"Wait, why were you training in the forest?\".\n\"When mommy saw my belly was growing very fast, she feared i would have trouble just standing upright. I was out running in the forest and ran into Brutus and it was him who suggested i train with him in secret as he knew how to properly train. One day while i was out training, it started to rain and had to go come, but then i felt strong pain in my belly. I thought the day i had dreaded finally came. When i got home, i asked mommy what was wrong and if Niall was ok. I was so scared. She told me Niall was ok and that he was simply exercising, which meant he would start kicking me. And with his strong legs, i sometimes almost lost my balance. I was soooo happy\".\n\nThe happy snow leopard brushed her belly, reminded she is pregnant again. The wolf sitting next to her still did not quite share the same opinion. He thinks she should've waited till she was an adult before getting pregnant again. He notices while observing the blissful keidran Maeve that her breasts have grown significantly since her birthday 3,5 months ago. They're probably C or D-cups now. I clutched my belly, hoping the pain would go away. But then i felt something inside me pop and water rushed down my legs. I realized that i was going into labor and looked for my mommy, but she gone to the market\". The wolf was then reminded that Adira was with him that day and feels guilty for not telling her to stay with Maeve. \"So i had to do it alone. The contractions were painful and i could feel my entire belly push down to get Niall out. It took a few tries before i managed to push Niall a bit, and the pain was unberable\". Zen started to feel nauseous. \"I could feel Niall was close to the exit but i wasn't sure if i could push the head out\". The wolf's nauseous was getting worse. \"I pushed as hard as i could and then i felt the he-\".\n\"That's enough, that's enough, Maeve. I don't need to know more\". He was holding his stomach and mouth like he\nwas about to puke.\n\"You ok, Zen?\" asked the concerned snow cat Maeve.\n\"Yes, yes, i'm fine. Just some bad food i ate\".\n\n\nSome time passed with the sick wolf Zen trying his best not to throw up.\n\"Do you know how many cubs you're carrying?\" asked the still curious Zen.\n\"It's just one\".\n\"Just one?\".\n\"Yep. My cub will probably grow as big as Niall did\".\n\"Are you sure it's just one cub, Maeve?\".\n\"Well... no, not really. Maybe\".\n\"But why were you so sure it's only one?\".\n\"Because this is the same sized when i was pregnant with Niall\".\n\"So you're having another massive cub?\".\n\"Yeah. I think\".\n\"Maeve, may i put an ear to your belly and listen?\".\n\"Sure\". He gets off the bed and onto his knees in front of her, learns forward and places an ear on her belly. They're quiet. Then he hears it. Or rather them. For it's not one but two heart beats he hears. Twins.\n\"Maeve, this will likely surprise you, but you're carrying twins\". Before a second had even passed, she was already hugging.\n\"Twins! I'm having twins! Brutus will be so happy when he hears it\".\n\"I bet he will. But why didn't you ask Brutus to check if you were carrying more than one?\".\n\"We... i... i don't know. We assumed it was only one because my belly is the same size when i had Niall, so we probably thought it wasn't necessary\".\n\"I guess that makes sense. She gave the kind wolf Zen a big hug. \"Thanks for telling me, dad\". They both froze, shocked at what was just said.\n\"I'm sorry, Zen. I didn't mean to say that\" said the embarrassed feline Maeve. The still surprised Zen looked confused.\n\"Are you ok, Maeve? Why did you call me dad?\".\n\"I... don't know. I just suddenly saw you as a father\".\n\"What? How can you just view me as your dad?\"\n\"I don't know. I think it's because you care about me\".\n\"Maeve, i don't have to be your dad to care about you. I care because i am worried. You're still young and have much to learn yet, and i can't stand the thought of something terrible happening to you\".\nHis words struck her deep. His words were familiar, like they were said from her own mother. Was this the reason?\n\nBut before she could dig deeper into that thought, her mate came home and called out for her. The wolf was then reminded that Adira was with him that day and feels guilty for not telling her to stay with Maeve. "So i had to do it alone. The contractions were painful and i could feel my entire belly push down to get Niall out. It took a few tries before i managed to push Niall a bit, and the pain was unberable". Zen started to feel nauseous. "I could feel Niall was close to the exit but i wasn't sure if i could push the head out". The wolf's nauseous was getting worse. "I pushed as hard as i could and then i felt the he-".
"That's enough, that's enough, Maeve. I don't need to know more". He was holding his stomach and mouth like he
was about to puke.
"You ok, Zen?" asked the concerned snow cat Maeve.
"Yes, yes, i'm fine. Just some bad food i ate".


Some time passed with the sick wolf Zen trying his best not to throw up.
"Do you know how many cubs you're carrying?" asked the still curious Zen.
"It's just one".
"Just one?".
"Yep. My cub will probably grow as big as Niall did".
"Are you sure it's just one cub, Maeve?".
"Well... no, not really. Maybe".
"But why were you so sure it's only one?".
"Because this is the same sized when i was pregnant with Niall".
"So you're having another massive cub?".
"Yeah. I think".
"Maeve, may i put an ear to your belly and listen?".
"Sure". He gets off the bed and onto his knees in front of her, learns forward and places an ear on her belly. They're quiet. Then he hears it. Or rather them. For it's not one but two heart beats he hears. Twins.
"Maeve, this will likely surprise you, but you're carrying twins". And as expected, her eyes widen and her mouth agape.
"Twins?" she asked as if she didn't believe him.
"Yep. Twins. I can clearly hear two different heart beats". Before a second had even passed, she was already hugging.
"Twins! I'm having twins! Brutus will be so happy when he hears it".
"I bet he will. But why didn't you ask Brutus to check if you were carrying more than one?".
"We... i... i don't know. We assumed it was only one because my belly is the same size when i had Niall, so we probably thought it wasn't necessary".
"I guess that makes sense. But remember you should check next time".
"I will. Thanks".


The happy snow leopard sat down on her bed again, blissfully brushing her belly that carries the life of two.
"I can't wait to tell mommy i'm having twins, too. I wonder what names she has picked for her twins? Do you know, Zen?".
"No, not yet. She is still dealing with the fact she is pregnant".
"Mommy must be really happy with her twins if she doesn't have any names yet".
"No, Maeve. Your mom is not happy". She looked at him confused.
"Mommy isn't happy? But i've been with her and she always talks how she can't wait to see them, that it have brought joy back into her life". But now Zen looked confused.
"What are you talking about? Your mother told me she didn't want to get pregnant and wished it didn't happen. She hates it". The snow leopard's face was a mix of surprise and sadness.
"But... mommy said she is happy".
"I don't know what your mother has told you, but that's not what she has told me". The sad keidran
mother Maeve looked down at her belly, wondering how her mother could hate being pregnant. For Maeve, she loved the thought of having many children to rise, to watch them grow up and become a proud mother of sons and daughters who would do greats things in the world. What could possibly be the reason her mother hates being pregnant? The thought made her sad and she wanted to do something. But there was nothing she could do as her options were yet unknown to her. She gave the kind wolf Zen a big hug. "Thanks for telling me, dad". They both froze, shocked at what was just said.
"I'm sorry, Zen. I didn't mean to say that" said the embarrassed feline Maeve. The still surprised Zen looked confused.
"Are you ok, Maeve? Why did you call me dad?".
"I... don't know. I just suddenly saw you as a father".
"What? How can you just view me as your dad?"
"I don't know. I think it's because you care about me".
"Maeve, i don't have to be your dad to care about you. I care because i am worried. You're still young and have much to learn yet, and i can't stand the thought of something terrible happening to you".
His words struck her deep. His words were familiar, like they were said from her own mother. Was this the reason?

But before she could dig deeper into that thought, her mate came home and called out for her. Zen saw the joy Brutus and Maeve were sharing, and how the their joy were even greater when she told him they're having twins.
