He needed to know she was here, that his and his protege's capture hadn't been in vain. That Onyx's death some months after hadn't been in vain. He'd been here some 10 years, and still hadn't been able to confirm. He'd been kept working, and her... violent tendencies usually resulted in her being secluded from most of the beings at the estate. As unfortunate as it was, her landing in the breeding program was perhaps the one chance he'd have to confirm her. She was on the verge of being sold. Not only was she dangerous to the masters, she hadn't born a single foal. Perhaps they kept catching her when she wasn't fertile, or there were other issues, but, after 3 years she was wearing them thin.\n\nThe handler with him pulled his head down, and unlatched the halter he was wearing. He partially unbuttoned his pants, then unbound his hands, and stepped out. The door locked behind him. Jerome looked ahead, then stepped into the room.\n\nSnowhawk sat with her back to him. Her head was dropped low, and he could see hints of golden silk draped over her hips, through her long mane, and one end of it over her shoulder. "I mean... here."

"That goes with the playing along." Keeping hold on one of her arms, he reached to the back of her neck with his other hand and pulled her close to him again. "This wasn't my original idea, but for now, I need you to stay here," he whispered. "They're talking of selling you, so I volunteered."

"So you are going to--"
