But not for Tawna.\n\nThe others must have forgotten to tell her about the small hatch they took to the upper level, because Tawna had quickly discovered she was far too fat to fit through it. Instead, the massive bandicoot she was now dangling from the creaking, twisted metal lattice above her, having paused her crossing to try and recover her breath. Her hands were aching as the wire dug deep into her pudgy fingers. Her shoulders felt like her immense weight was pulling them out of their sockets. Her brow was slick with sweat from both the sheer effort required just to keep putting one hand in front of the other, and the overpowering heat rising from the lake of molten slag covering the floor of the passageway.\n\nHer recovery was cut short as the door at the far end of the room opened with a mechanical hiss. Tawna's eyes widened in shock. Flying towards her, covered in razor-sharp spikes, was one of Cortex's sewer mechs.\n\nWhile they may have been designed to puncture and perforate any bandicoots that crossed their path, the mechs were only programmed to patrol the sewers rather than give chase. Tawna could count her blessings on that front.
